Hi guys, i am new to the whole Android scene, i owned a pulse, and rooted and installed a custom ROM on that...so i have some Android experience.
I have a EPF30 Nexus one build and i cant update from the official google download, i have heard that it should work on any build, but people say only ERE27
I don't want to unlock the bootloader if i don't have to...
But how can i get 2.2?
Any help would be great thanks...

Its all good though man.. just read up on ROOT, SPLS and Requirements.. if you read the guide on how to root your phone, you SHOULD be up and running the latest cyanogen mod rom within the next half an hour.. be sure to READ the directions carefully.. and if your not sure about something, scroll through some of the posts in the thread.. 9 xs out of 10 someone has asked your question, and has received an answer... if there are too many pages to read, like let's say maybe 40 or more, jus go to google, and search for your problem.. this site plus some others may pop up and offer you some help.. good luck and welcome to the community !

go to youtube in a few days and check out emogamers tag and in a few days or so he'll have my videos of everything but there are alot of things to do already

Follow these tutorials... 1 at a time:

2. Upgrade Recovery, Radio & SPL: http://www.myhangoutonline.com/tutorials/g1/upgrade-your-g1-recovery-image-radio-and-spl
Once you're done with that... you can go find a ROM you like and flash it... Enjoy!
Hello all, I am running madoco desire, and wondering if I will get the froyo update or will I have to download and install it? I am assuming it will clear my rom and all my apps right. Now if i reinstall the rom will it negate the new update? or just not work? I have used search, and read about 1000 threads. Thanks so much.

The update will only come to users of stock 2.1. It will in no way shape or form be compatible with desire rom.

OK yes I do know there is a q&a section, I have read and searched in there. Not very clear answers though. If it is such a bother to help someone, then how about not being on this site! I am sure all of you at one time or another were starting out. I read this forum daily, have its app, and keep up to date for the most part. I just wast completely sure of one thing. I support a few of the DEVS on here with contributions when I can, I am just glad it isn't one of you!
hey, i just got a galaxy 5801 and wanted to get live wallpapers, i learnt that i need to root to be able to do that. will the galaxy s one click root work with mine.

You should search the forum - and for that matter, post in the right sections. This is Android Themes, does 'Rooting the Galaxy 5801" belong here? No, it doesn't. It belongs in the Galaxy Android Developement thread.

What does being new to android have anything to posting in the right section? Are you also new to the existence of life as well? You posted a question about how to root in the THEME section. Sounds like you're braindead to me, can't even search either. You should go now and post oh I don't know, a question in another language other than english.. in the english forums! Go go go!

like i said, i have posted it in hacking and development, and few other threads. not even one reply. and the one;s that i get is pretty useless. and speaking of brain dead, i asked for help and not another one of these useless replies which is of no help. so if it's anyone who is brain dead, it's you. i admit my fault, but u don;t have to be so friggin rude about. someone already suggested that i post in the right section. so if u cant help mind your own business.

IMHO this would be a good thing to put in the XDA-Developers wiki, rather than forcing newbies to search through a lot of forum threads which causes confusion. I agree that everybody should be diligent in using the search box before asking questions, but it's still not ideal. Also, sometimes things change from time to time (e.g. GOT releasing updates) and then it's even more confusing to use the forum threads as references for "how to".
I would like to work on it but am busy with a lot of other stuff at the moment...next time I install a new ROM I will try to write a step-by-step wiki article (if anyone else thinks it's a good idea?) or at least put a link in the Milestone/Droid wiki page to the relevant forum threads.

First read the sticky threads (you would have seen this should be posted in the Q&A thread) and then spend a week reading all other threads (it would have answered your question). In the end, whether you need to update something is all up to yourself and your preferences...if you're wondering whether to update: don't do it. Updating is only done when you have specific reasons to update (speed, other features, skinning, newer stuff).
Furthermore... search the forum - you will find a howto too
