So I've been running froyo builds since day one it got available. Never had any problem.
Decided to flash MCR R20 based on FRF85B a couple of days ago, and today I've noticed a very strange bug.
I have around 2.5gb of images running on my SD card (dating back from the Nokia N95). Basically I select a folder (for example Wallpaper) and I select an image. The preview of the image (blurry image) loads up fine, but then the full image loads up a TOTALLY DIFFERENT IMAGE from another folder. I select another image from this same folder and I get an image again from the other folder.
Forced stop, cleared data, cleared cache and delvik from bootloader, no avail. Any tips?

Okay, this is a little odd -
I found myself getting stuck in bootloops on my G1, after updating to Cyanogen 4.2.10, and so I decided to go into recovery (Amon Ra) and wipe the ext partition.
Upon booting my phone back up again, everything worked great, very smooth. I pushed my (backed-up) apps back to the phone, and all was well...
Until I realized that the Market app was oddly missing. Other Google apps are there - Gmail, messaging, etc. But not the market.
In my hurry to fix my problem I neglected to make a full backup, and so, uhh, I'm sorta borked.
Any way I can get back the market? I know it's Google's secret little code, but is there any way someone can surreptitiously direct me towards an apk?
I'd be much obliged.
Android G-1 (on T-Mobile)
Stock SD card because I suck
Recovery: Amon Ra v1.2.3
HardSPL 10.95.3000
Radio: 2.22.19.26I

You could find the Vending.apk in any of the full build's that don't use the legal work around like Cyanogen
I'd just download Dwang's or WG's build, unzip and you could find it in it's respective place
I have pretty much the same problem...
a few days ago my phone started spazzing after installing Cyanogen's 4.2.11 and there was nothing i could do except formatting my sd card and a factory reset... eventually, i got my phone back to work, but it only came with all of the default apps except for the Android Market.
So then i tried to install the HTC recovery image along with cyanogen 4.2.11.1 to see if that would fix my problem, but my market app is STILL missing. I really need my market app back -____- even though cyanogen's rom comes with slideme mobentoo marketplace, the app force closes whenever i try to open it.
can anyone help?
^ I would just start all over. Cyan is working on experimental now so you likely have the final stable build, for the time being anyway.
wipe, use AmonRAs recovery to partition your SD and get you to EXT4.
Flash HTC, immediately after flash cyan... reboot and you should have googles apps back (including market).
Download your apps and then go back to recovery and make a nandroid+Ext backup for any future issues.
I just startwed from scratch and am glad I did. My G1 seems a lot faster afterwards.
OR, do ^^ if you are capable.
vending was stored on the /system/sd/app (ext partition app folder), push it to /system/app so it won't get erased when you wipe ext.
The root of the problem is:
the market is a system app so it's in /system/app
however there is a new update for the market so when you open it and it connects to Google servers it updates the market app.
since most roms (like cyanogens) have app2sd setup ... when the android market updates itself, it installs on the ext partition. /system/sd (symb link)
So if you wipe your ext you also wipe the market but no other system apps because they reside on system memory.
maybe the new market needs to be included in these roms ... or make an exception of some sort. However ... that's probably what happened in your case. Hopefully you can understand that.
good day!

Why is it that none of the 2.2 roms see any of my music stored on the sdcard?
As for the gallery app, it only sees two folders of pictures on my sdcard, and I have 4 folders. I also cannot select custom ringtones for phone, mail, txt nothing.
Also, every 2.2 rom I install, it ALWAYS lags after about 5 minutes of first boot throws a bunch of force closes on any and every app I have open, and then finally soft reboots. After that then I never have problems with the lag until I reboot. What would cause this? I'm running the Froyo Radio, I wipe data/cache/dalvik-cache every time I try to flash a 2.2 rom. Oddly enough, any 2.1 eclair works fine...
I managed to capture a picture of the logcat right before it rebooted on 2.2

Never had any of these problems on any 2.2 rom
Could it be the SDcard then? or something with my phone?
bump for hoping to run 2.2 with no errors
For the lag on initial boot it may just be Google restoring your apps...this really slows things down until its finished. If you want to turn it off its under Privacy-Backup Settings, I believe.
As for the gallery/music probs Im not too sure..could be the card, reformat??
Hi there, I tried to upgrade to ICS OTA, but got locked at the Samsung logo, but thanks to this forum I managed to reflash using Odin and then upgrade using Kies.
The thing is, the space I cleared (about 3 Gb or so) for the files is still in use, I assume by the downloaded files. How can I get rid of these and free up my space again?
Thanks,
Mark
As far as i know, the OTA update files are stored in cache. To get rid of them, go into recovery and select "Clear cache" option, that should do it.
If you're on stock ICS - remember not to use factory reset. Just clear cache.
Alternatively, if you're rooted - you could simply browse to system root, go into /cache and delete those files manually.
Hi guys, I was showing my friend the CM ROM and he was very excited by it and wanted it for himself.
I rooted his phone with ODIN and flashed latest CWM. Then I downloaded one of the CM nightlies, put it on his phone with GAPPS and then proceeded to CWM.
I did wipe data, flash CM, flash GAPPS, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, then rebooted.
CM has installed completely fine, but my issue is NONE of his original files can be located on the phone, I thought the internal sdcard wasn't touched during flashing ROMS?
In old versions of CWM, a '0' folder was made, but I can't find one on the phone anywhere, it's as if the files have just disappeared from the phone's visibility, and they are still on the phone because restoring to a previous nandroid backup showed them again and then when we reflashed and they were still gone, I checked under storage and despite the different categories totalling a small file size, there was still only 3GB left stored on the phone (same before flashing of CM).
Does anyone know how to access these files? For the record, Gallery won't show any of the other albums.
that's the way CM10.1 works, you can't access the files from the ROM. Pull them via adb or use an aroma file manager. or flash 4.1

Perfect answer, worked a treat.
Many thanks
I am running 11-20140803-Nightly-hummingbird & wallpaper disappears after going from Portrait to landscape mode & the only way to setup the wallpaper I have to reboot.
Every once in awhile I will get a System UI stopped message too.
After the wallpaper disappears system seems to really lag.
I figured maybe my system was getting all junked up due to so many updates I have done since 10.1 days, so I did a system reset with CWM & figured I would start over.
After installing the nightly mentioned above & gapps rebooted & noticed all the folders were still there from before, do these not get wiped when doing a system reset?
Any suggestions on what to do with the issue I am having & how do you completely wipe the system to start over?
This is getting a bit frustrating.
Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated
Thank you
You don't really want to completely wipe everything - do not wipe emmc internal storage. Only data, dalvic, cache is necessary.
Don't know what folders your referring to. Folders on internal storage will stay. Any other folders in the rom sections that were wiped will be repopulated upon flashing a rom.
The wallpaper issue sounds like a bug in cm. Try the m9 build. I use m9 and have not seen that problem, not with m9 and not with m8.
I have no idea what you install on it, but it could also be an app your installing that is breaking things.
Anytime you want to start fresh do a full recovery backup in the recovery so you can go right back to exactly how you had it if a new rom install doesn't fix your problem instead of wasting time.
Problem solved
It appears it was due to newest beta of Apex Pro that I was using. I installed one of my backups of Apex through Titanium Pro just to see if that was the issue & by golly I think it was.
Seemed like every time I would rotate my screen the wallpaper went Poof!
Solution for wallpaper issue
Especially this problem is found in cm11 snapshot M9 M10etc. But M11 has no issues. I am using m11 since its realse and absulotely no wallpaper issue has been encountered. If you are using 3 party launcher to set wallpaper the it is my request to use default system wallpaper tool to change wallpaper. And thats it.
