Power saver button?! - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just had a blackout last night and fortunately had my phone half way charged to finish watching bleach episodes. I was scrambling to cut down on power consumption. Is there a widget I can press that has all my preset power saving settings instead of doing all individually?

[Q] Remove Battery Full Visual Alert

Hello. Has anyone figured out a way to remove the battery full visual alert? I use Timeriffic to remove the audio notification. I have a Samsung Dock and insert my phone into it every night when I go to bed. This puts the phone into DeskHome mode which I like. Then, in the middle of the night, when the battery gets to a full charge it shines like a beacon and stays on until I click the button to shut it off. My wife usually gets mad and flips the dock over. So my question is.... Can I turn off the visual notification of a full battery? Or make it so it doesn't kick my screen on and keep it on? I am not concerned about leaving my phone on the charger all the time and I am not worried about the audio notification.
It's possible, but...
Yes, it's possible to eliminate the popup notice & sound effect. However, it's very complicated to say the least. It involves editing the services.odex and android.policy.odex files.
What I haven't been able to do is track down what exactly causes the LCD to come on when the battery is fully charged. If I could figure that out, I could totally eliminate the whole thing.
FYI: It's the DeskHome app that keeps the screen on once the "battery is fully charged" notice is sent through the OS. If you don't have that app running, the screen would come on, then go off just as though you hit the power button but didn't unlock the screen.
Thanks! I tried that last night (not running DeskHome) and it worked! I would love to be able to have more control over deskhome to eliminate the full battery alert, but oh well.

notification trackball/LED substitute

I am going to be using this trackball/LED notification substitute for a few days to see if it eats battery or FCs: http://www.devasque.com/noled/

I've been using this for the last 24hrs without any issues whatsoever.
If there's any battery drain, it's very slight. When displaying black or dark colors, the SAMOLED display consumes next to no power. So when the notification is recieved, the only battery loss would be from the little icon/dot/whatevs moving around.
Do your capacitive buttons stay lit up while using this app? Mine seem to on while the dots are displayed?

yes..capacitive buttons stay lit while notification is pending. but no capacitive buttons stay lit otherwise when noled is active/standby and no notifications are pending.
( i don't miss n1 trackball anymore )
battery drain is nonexistant imho. i didnt even know how much i needed a notification system until after i installed this, and its is perfect, and customizable enough for me.
with this installed on both my vibrant and my ns, the time since last unplugged were 22+ hrs and 31+ hours, respectively.
That is with noLED not sleeping and notification time outs of 3 hours. when there is a notification i have vibrate turned on for 3 short "dashes" every 1 minute until i dismiss.

[Q] Power Saver

Have had the phone for a week and loving it, but trying to get the most out of the battery life. Does anyone know when power saver mode activates? I've currently got it switched on (icon is always there) so does that mean when the icon is showing it is active? Or will it activate at a certain percent such as 30%, 15% etc?
Thanks!
Settings > Power > Power saver should give you those options, to set a critical percentage
I think default is like 30%
Can't seem to find anywhere in the settings where it says that

If you turn on power save it's on straight away and stays on till you turn it off
Makes sense, thanks!
Although I have seen it appear automatically before when it was around 25%

How to make your power button serve 50 % longer

I just found this interesting and wanted to share about this power button app as to preserve your power button from using too much.
Here is the app that I use a lot to switch off display and it does not drain the battery.

re-uploaded and now is working.
Hi
I successfully repaired volume button using flex from HTC HD2 which is available for reasonable price.
So now I do not care if one day my power button will die because I still have four spare micro switches.
Cost of repair is next to nothing.

Difference Between Sleep Mode and Data Connection in Power Saver

I was just wondering that is the difference between the two. The description seems to be the same in both but they are located in 2 difference places. Sleep Mode under Power in settings and Data Connection under Power Saver. If both are turned on is there any conflict or whatnot?

The power saver options turns off your data connection as soon as the screen is off then reconnects it when the screen is on. The one under power waits until your phone has been inactive for a while (6+ hours in my experience) and turns then turns the connection off. They won't conflict because enabling the one under power saver will naturally make the other one redundant.

Oh great! Thanks for the explanation. Okay so let's say power saver turns off your data when your screen is off, what happens to messaging services like what's app, viber and Facebook chat? I won't be notified of any of these when the screen is turned off on power saver mode?
