My last thread got locked , but I guess it was in the wrong place anyways.
So, just wondering if anybody knows anything about the streaming audio issue on Froyo, maybe a possible fix somewhere I overlooked, or some upcoming fix maybe?
If you use Pandora or Slacker on regular basis, you will know what I am talking about. As compared to Eclair, on froyo both sound pretty bad, even with HQ Audio enabled on Pandora. What I've noticed is that over WIFI, Slacker has been recently fixed, it sounds very good, but on 3G the issue persists.

which FroYo ROM, and which kernel.
mine does the exact same, its not just you its probably a froyo issue.
ok so i was bored and did some tests, it seems it only happens to me when trying to send audio via bluetooth when playing a flash video, reg music and videos are no problem.
I also have same problem, but on CM 5.0.X (Android 2.1). I tried Motorola S9-HD (stereo) and Nokia HS-56W (mono). Every time connect the headset and the phone is very close (20-30 cm), the sound is fine, but as soon as the phone is to push further, the sound is choppy and stutters. And this happens on any headset.
is WiFi on or off?
WiFi and bluetooth operate on same frequency band and can cause issues.
i have wi-fi on and bluetooth on.
switch WiFi off and try.

I switched off Wi-Fi and connect Motorola S9-HD and it really workes. A will try today use more and write late about it.
Same problem here with Froyo.
I turned Wifi off and the sound problems went away.
I think is a hardware problem or design problem because I used to use the same headset (Motorola H-710) with an iPhone and never had this problem even with Wifi switched on.
Would be any way to get rid of this problem?, it really bothers me to turn off the Wifi every time I get a phone call.
Thanks
its a problem with flash, not bluetooth, adobe should fix it soon
Thank you for the suggestion I will be sure to try that tomorrow!
I have kernal 2.6.32.9-27220-g328f560 android build apa26 #1
Build number is frf50
I hear this is a test version of Froyo anyway...I don't think the real Froyo has been released yet? So maybe it will be fixed...thank you.
After two days of tests, with switched off Wi-Fi, it turned out that the problem does not disappear completely. Correctly identify the reason for failed. Since stuttering occurred on different songs (that is, perhaps, that stuttering is dependent on the bitrate), I sometimes felt that the problem with lowering the frequency of the processor in sleep mode, and it is not enough to encode mp3 and transfer data via Bluetooth.
Still bad with OTA
I got the froyo OTA for my stock N1 yesterday morning.
I can confirm that the distorted sound is present on the phone application only when wifi is turned on and you are using bluetooth. At first I thought it was only when wifi was on but not connected but it appears that you can get the distortion on a phone call whenever wifi is turned on.
All entertainment application seem to work fine with my A2DP bluetooth. Again it only seems to be bluetooth phone calls and wifi turned on. Believe me this is bad enough. This didn't happen on 2.1 and if it weren't so much hassle I'd probably go back.
Hopefully someone will come up with a workaround that will allow bluetooth calls and wifi turned on at the same time. Gees, if it weren't so basic
This just drives me nuts that Google makes major changes to parts of the OS, then doesn't think to actually TEST everything they changed. This would easily been detected if they actually tried it out. Duh.
I have the FRF91 update and all the blutooth distortions are GONE.

I updated from stock via the OTA to FRF91 and thats actually when the distortions showed up on mine? Well its good to know that there is hope but now I am wondering what possibly may be different between mine and yours?
Can anyone else tell us how their bluetooth is doing on FRF91?
Does anyone think a froyo factory data reset is worth trying?
I have tried three different headsets on two different Incredibles and the music skips when walking or running when listening to music on the headset. Has anyone else had this happen and is there a fix?

Might defeat the purpose but use the headset blocker widget in the market. Just search "Headset blocker" and put the widget on one of your homescreens then activate it.
It may defeat the purpose of saying commands and such, but it should let you listen to your music without problems.

I have the same problem with my Motorola H9s. That was with my Blackberry Storm.
After much searching on the internet, it seems the position of the source is important. I get a minimum of skipping if I carry my phone in my back pocket.
I had skipping before I had to keep the phone above my waist to avoid it.but it was better indoors
same here. if i keep it above my waist it works better. doesn't seem right though!
If you are running a 2.2 rom, there seems to be some issues with bluetooth in general for the leaked build. My friend has had problems with music stuttering in his car connected thru the Sync thingie, and said there were a bunch of reports of shoddy bluetooth connectivity.
Just something else to consider.
I've been curious about this myself (if there's a bluetooth issue) - I have a motorolla t505 in the car, and bluetooth to it has been flaky to setup since SR2.5 and there have been random skips during playback.
I truly think it is a bluetooth issue. I'm on stock 2.1 and it has occured on two seperate phones and I have also tried 3 seperate headsets. Of course HTC says they have never had this problem.

Its not just Htc, friend runs cm6 nightlies on droid 1 and has bluetooth issues. I haven't looked into it much because I don't use bt, but he was saying there were lots of people having problems.
Not that that's necessarily what's going on here, however.
This is typically a headset issue. I have the moto s9's and the skipping happens when a good line of site to the device isn't present. Kind of defeats the purpose if you have to hold your phone while using the headset. I have noticed though that single mono headsets dont have this problem when running the audio apps.
I ran across this thread while trying to find a similar thread about the Samsung Captivate. I had the same issue and was going to post what I did to fix it. I'm sure the problem is phone-specific, but I figured I'd post it here anyway. I use my Motorola S805 headphones with my Captivate at work on a daily basis. I typically leave my phone on the charger and stream music through Rhapsody via my 3G connection (unlimited, thankfully...we don't have wifi at work). I regularly walk up to about 40 feet away from my phone, with no skipping or sound-quality issues whatsoever. I had a lot of issues with skipping when I first got the phone, and I figured out what was happening. If I leave WIFI turned on, but I'm not connected, the music skips. If I'm connected to a router, it doesn't. I believe the phone was polling for WIFI connections every so often and possibly causing a CPU spike or something similar. If I'm out of WIFI range, and simply turn my WIFI off, my music will play great all night long.
Has anyone else had a problem with audio quality in certain apps? When using Heytell and Skype there are distinct "cracking" and "popping coming from the speaker and from headphones. The sound is fine when doing other things like youtube and mp3s. I've heard some people have this issue with netflix as well. I assume it must be a software issue and not hardware. I want to know if I should return my device or not for a new one.
I guess I'm alone with this issue?
I get this on the hacked version of Skype which permits video calling, so I don't feel it's fair to complain b/c the hack may be part of the problem.
I've tried both the hacked and market version with the same results.
I have this same problem with netflix, market skype, and the hacked version of skype. I've seen this problem on the phandroid forums as well. No one has a fix, just multiple reports of the audio crackling and popping. Youtube, mp3, and other media files stored on my phone play just fine.
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using XDA App
I definitely noticed the hacked version of skype with the crackling "clipping" sound of audio, even though the original incoming audio doesn't get very loud. I haven't tried original skype but others are saying it does the same thing it sounds like.
I am going to keep firing away some comments and questions. This board seems a little inactive especially compared to the Galaxy Nexus forum that I came from
Overall I am really digging this phone, great built, great keyboard, great reception.
One thing I noticed though when streaming Netflix last night was that the playback seems choppy at times. Anybody else notice that? Does ICS or a different ROM fix this?

This might be specifically a Netflix compatibility or internet connection issue. I streamed video from the Xfinity TV Player yesterday and the quality was excellent.
I am experiencing distortion/popping/cracking while streaming music via bluetooth from my HTC One to my car's headunit. I'm using the default music app and 320kbps mp3s. Never had this issue with my Galaxy SII.
I turned off Beats Audio, but that didn't solve it. I hope a fix can be found for this because I love this phone.
Anyone in the same boat?

I am having the exact same problem. Quite frustrating. Main problem is distortion, particularly in higher frequencies.
I have tested my HTC One on headphones, and there is no problem. The problem is over bluetooth streaming to car head unit. I have used 2 other phones (GSIII and Iphone) on the same head unit without any problem.
I largely play 320kbps spotify files.
If this problem can't be fixed in the short term, I am strongly considering returning the phone as i consider this a serious fault.
Apparently the new update (1.29) fixes the bluetooth issues amongst other things. I've still not received it though

I can confirm this, 1.29 works great streaming over bluetooth to my car stereo. No distortion at all with beats turned on.

Any other thoughts on what the problem could be?

That might be the problem, even though that is a 4.2 issue.
It requires a software fix.

I am having the same issue with my 2009 Acura TSX and I'm running version 1.29.401.13. I have contacted HTC about this issue and it was escalated to a higher echelon of techs to work on, but so far, no answer or fix.
I have even tried the "fix" located on a german site, still no luck.
Yep... Bluetooth over MyLink sounds awful in the high frequencies... Almost like its only transmitting at 48kbps.
Did anyone every get this issue fixed?
Would flashing to another ROM fix it?
