Extracting Keyboard files from ROM? - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

In short.
How can you pull Keyboard files from a specific rom so I can use it one another rom?
To be more specific.
The N1 has been released in Korea, and the ROM file has been uploaded here hxxp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=722281 (I'm not allowed to post url links yet)
As I have a T-MO nexus one, the only thing that I would like to extract from this rom is the additional "한글 키보드" i.e., Korean keyboard, because I think it is the only keyboard right now that has both Korean / English dictionary, thus being the only keyboard that has the ability to "show suggestions" in both languages. There are quite a few Korean keyboards in the market, but I think the korean keyboard pre-installed in the rom of the N1 Korea release is the only one which has this capability.
Thanks in advance!

Additional languages for the standard onscreen keyboard app

Dear all,
my question is: is there any possibility of adding a new language to the list of languages supported by the standard HTC onscreen keyboard? I have stock WWE ROM version, but would like to have a possibility of typing in Russian and in Hebrew.
Another problem is that while Russian letters are shown correctly, Hebrew is shown as boxes... any chance to have Hebrew also?
Thanks.
i think that is possible like the arabic version (have a look in the arabic rom thread here in this board..) but i am afraid there is nothing around for russian or hebrew at the moment; isnt it?

Keyboard Layout after WM6.5 upgrading

Dears:
I am trying to retain the arabic keyboard layout from the original ROM because I waited long time to buy the arabic device. Then when we started the upgrading, it's all gone.
I found accidently the following cab file in the windows folder of the original WM6.1 ROM. So I figured if I install it on WM6.5 customs roms it will re-enable the arabic keyboard, or so I thought.
Anyone can offer help on how to have the arabic keyboard working and see whether this file is of real use or not? thanks.
Samer.
can you find "Bulgarian Phonetic" keyboard layout ?
10x
ok, so no one can answer, let me now rephrase the question maybe it becomes simpler.
If you have an official NBH for your TP2 device which comes defenetly with special files and settings to activate non-english characters (in my case arabic), how can I find these files and settings and extract them from the NBH file?

Thank you for your concern. This discussion is about remapping the main keys to a different language. What I am looking for are the suplemtnatry keys which are activated after pressing the mail key as it has a symbol of switch language.
So in other words, I have 2 languages on my keyboard, english and arabic, and there is a key that changes the complete keyboard to arabic or vice versa dynamically.
I am hoping to find a solution for that

[Q] Swype version downgraded with Froyo update

Hello,
This morning I received the update (in Finland) for my unbranded Samsung Galaxy S (GT-i9000) from 2.1 to Froyo 2.2
Before the update, my Swype application is pre-installed by Samsung and it was version 3.x (I can't remember the exact version).
After the update to Froyo, the pre-installed Swype version is now 2.6.x, and it has less languages than before, including Spanish (my mother tongue, and the language I typically use)
I have written an email to my GSM provider, to Samsung and to SwypeInc, but nobody replies. I have tried to find Swype 3.9 (the latest version, I think) from the Internet without any result. Actually, I only miss the Spanish dictionary.
Does anyone have any idea? Is this happening to you also?
I am looking forward to hear your replies,
P.S.- I found Swype 3.9.x as a CAB file, and followed the instructions, but it won't install because my phone cannot open the CAB file.

The reason it won't open a .cab file is because they are for Windows Mobile.
I have 2.1 :-(
Swype 2.1 here too with the new 2.2 oficial update :/
Are u sure u had version 3.x?? coz mine is ver. 1.60 on eclair JM2..
and i think samsung using different languages on different regions to save space..
thats why u dont have spanish swype on finland firmware.. i guess
Hello,
Actually you are right. I had Swype version 1.6 on JM2. I was confused after reading many forums for Windows Mobile.
So, the situation is now this one: I had Swype 1.6 with many languages (including Spanish). Now, with Froyo, I have Swype 2.6.47.11856, which doesn't have Spanish.
I cannot find a way to add Spanish to the new Swype. In fact, I searched for the Swype 2.6.47.11856 APK and I tried to install it on my phone, but after installing the phone says: "Application not installed.".
So, to sum up, I have the newest Swype version for Android, but I don't have Spanish anymore, and I can't overwrite the built-in Swype on my phone. Am I screwed?
If you have Swype 2.6.47.11856, could anyone please tell me if you have Spanish language available for input?
Thank you in advance,

Spanish is included in the Swype that is shipped with JPO, the central european version (2.1.41.10155). The scandinavian versions don't have it.
As i said.. different regions = different languages
Thanks for the reply anyways. I am just so confused, because I bought the phone here in Finland, and it came with Spanish Swype (and many more languages). Now I updated in Finland as well, and there is no Spanish Swype. But I have vietnamise, korean, romanian and stuff like that..
Is it possible to install a Swype dictionary manually?
Why not upgrade again to the European version of the firmware, and automatically get the version that has Spanish? You will need to downgrade Kies to ....93 or earlier, then regedit kies version to latest to stop it pestering you to upgrade, then with the old version you can regedit the phone version to one that gets the European upgrade. It is all described here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9043729&postcount=74
I can confirm, I used the registry hack to get the generic "European Countries" update by setting ProductCode="GT-I9000HKDXEU" and Swype has got spanish.
But I need romanian and it's not there Does anybody know which ProductCode should I use to get the romanian language in Swype?

copying a language from one phone to another

Hi people,
I have a galaxy note, and it seems like there is no possible way to download the Hebrew language onto it via the samsung keyboard or swype.
My friend has a galaxy s II with Hebrew installed, both on swype and samsung keyboard.
Is there a way for me to copy his languages onto my note? both phones are rooted.
And I assume that he has the RTL patch already built-in too, I only found this patch available to a deodexed firmwares, is it available to odexed too?
thanks in advance!
Anyone? I saw people move the apk of Arabic swype..

[Q] Galaxy Note languages

Hi. How can I find out which languages are loaded on to a particular counties Galaxy Note. I'm concidering buying an Indian GT-N7000ZBAINU or UAE version as I need Arabic as well as the English. Any ideas?
I don't quite understand what you mean. But you can go to Settings/Language and Keyboard to find out the supported language.
the OP is asking because each region's phones only have certain languages loaded. for instance, my german phone only has european languages, plus korean. not sure what the indian note would have...
The available languages depend on the Firmware which your device will be distributed with. I think you are on the safe side because even if Arabic is missing (assuming you need right to left) you should be able to flash another Firmware which will contain the language support you need.
In this thread you have an overview of all available Firmwares:

Hope this was helpful to you.
