Where to get Xperia fix? - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I messed up my xperia. I was trying a micro-sim card on to transfer some contacts and it got stuck. I kind of pulled the sim hard and i guess some of the pins that read the sim card bend. I know big mistake but i needed to transfer contacts that moment and i was away from a computer.
Now when i put a sim card it doesnt detected. It says no sim.
I called Sony Ericsson and they want to charge me 187 plus shipping both ways for any repair needed. I think thats too expensive and i was wondering if anybody here knows a reputable place where i could send it to get it fix.
Thanks for any help in advance.

Sim card regocnition issues on G1

I'm new here. Ive been searching forums but i haven't been able to find what i'm looking for. My G1 got wet and I dried it out. After about a week of it not turning on, It finally came on today. I inserted my Sim card but the phone would not recognize it. I saw some corrosion on the Sim card contacts and cleaned it. But it still wont recognize it. Any possible solutions ? I really want to get into G1 modification software wise but i cant access the phone to try any of the guides. And if i cant get it to recognize the Sim card. Is there a way to remove the Sim card message on the phone ?
Thanks in advance for the advice.

About ready to give up, lol. Hopefully someone can help!!

I know I have other threads on this but decided to give all my symptoms and what I have done up till now in one thread.
Ok, so to begin........ I had the power button problem on my Captivate as well as other problems, phone would get hot and smell and do weird things. So I decided to buy a broken phone off ebay and change out the motherboard.
I swapped boards and the new board had a lock on it so I couldnt get into the phone so I restored it to factory defaults. After that I was able to get into the phone and it works great except for the fact it will not connect to the network! So I have a camera and a wifi device.
Here is a list of problems I see.....
When phone boots up without sim card it doesnt ask for a sim card to be inserted
when sim card is inserted it doesnt read it (card and card holder work fine on other motherboard)
No network but wifi works fine
Baseband version - unkown
phone number - unknown
mobile network type - unknown
service state - out of service
mobile network state - disconnected
imei - unknown
imei sv - unknown
I have tried pretty much everything I have read on the forum....
Rooted phone and installed a custom rom and corn kernel - no luck
Mobiletechvideo method - no luck
moved efs folder from old motherboard to new motherboard - no luck
did a CWM backup on old motherboard and copied it to new motherboard and ran CWM recovery - no luck
tried Galaxy S unlock and no matter what I do only get the FFFFFF code
Flashed other modems - no luck
in hex editor my nv_data.bin files look fine.......

So anyway, Im at the end of my rope so hopefully I can get some insight before I just give up (which I keep saying I'm going to do but havent yet, lol)
Thanks!
It may not matter, but have you tested someone else's SIM card in the phone that's not detecting yours? If it won't read two different cards, but all the software parts are looking like they're functioning correctly, it's possible you have a lemon SIM card reader.
I don't know if that's something that could be replaced, but if you test it and it won't read the second card, it might be worth getting in contact with Josh (connexion2005) at mobiletechvideos to see if replacing the SIM card reader is something they can do.

Yes I have tested other sim cards and they dont work either. I had thought of this too but I put the sim card reader/holder on the other motherboard and it reads fine.
Here's an interesting twist......
started looking around in root explorer and looked at dev/block, only folder in there is dev/block/void and it is empty. Maybe this could be the cause? If so anyone know how to fix it, lol
This very well may be a modem defect. Do you have the background story for how it became this way?

It was a phone with a broken screen I bought off ebay, took the motherboard out and put it in my phone which has a bad motherboard. Hasnt worked since I switched it out so that as far back as I can go. If it was a modem defect would the wifi still work?

whats the problem?

my i9000 wont recognise any sim.
its because on the sim reader the middle of the 3 gold metal bits has came away.
is the only way i can fix this to buy a new sim card reader then disassemble the phone and replace the only with the new then reassemble.
or..... is there something simpler i could do!?
i've never done anything like this before.
but i've talked to all phone shops in my area and none of them seem to do this sort of repair.

broken sim card slot - can it be fixed?

Hi,
I put a nano sim adapter into my brand new razr I, and when I removed it, it got caught on 2 of the pins, and pulled them out the sim card slot. The phone will no longer read a sim card.
I also imported my phone overseas (South Africa) and bought it off ebay.
1) Is there a way to get this phone fixed? They don't sell the Razr I in my country (hence why I needed to import it). Is there maybe a similar phone that shares a sim card holder?
2) Can just the sim card slot be replaced or does a whole part of the phone need replacing?
Thanks for the help!
same problem
hi1 i have the same problem, you can fix you phone? how you do ?
Hi guys.
It ´s highly possible, that the SIM slot is similar or identic to other phones slots. So If you find some good mobile phone service, They really can look at it and maybe change for new one for lets say from $20 to $50 including work... You just have to try....

SIM card not recognized. replacement part or repair?

Hello. Was in a hurry and attempted to pull out the Sim card (nano with an adapter) in my xt1064 and ended up removing it, but the phone no longer recognizes any SIM cards. I contacted a local repair and was told the SIM tray is soldered to main board. I did see this video which shows the dual-sim variant as removable (see at 4;45-5:00 min (http://youtu.be/l29IvoYolh8) SIM cards go inside (but not as before), but do pish in and eject OK. I read online re: trying to align pins in the tray, but didn't see a good tutorial. I did open the phone and the tray is not easily openable (see a spring on the side). So how would I go about trying to get this repaired? Looked at etradesuppky and just saw few major parts (screen, housing, battery), unlike a lot more small components avail for xt1032. Any ideas/suggestions? This had to happen right after I flashed an updated lollipop 5.0.1 with success after few weeks of waiting. Thanks for any input.
Like you said it sounds like the SIM pins might be damaged. If you're pretty confident about tinkering with it yourself then be careful and continue Or else just take it to a service center.
Can someone post a close-up macro picture of the SIM tray? I can't seemed to figure out how the pins should look like? Is there a guide/tutorial on how they should look/work? Thanks A LOT.
