What about this root method, anybody tried and can confirm
that works?

That is for the CDMA Hero. To root the GSM Hero 2.1 check the sticky topic of this forum.

Yes,I know about the sticky for GSM Hero!
Sure,only supports CDMA Hero?

It doesn't work with the hero:
Supported Devices
unrevoked3 currently supports the following Android phones:
Sprint EVO 4G (HTC Supersonic)
Droid Incredible (HTC Incredible)
HTC Desire
HTC Aria
Droid Eris (HTC DesireC)
We have noticed that the core mechanisms behind unrevoked3 may apply to other rooted current-generation HTC phones running Android 2.1. At this time, the tool does not support other phones; if you have an unsupported phone of that description, please get in contact with us.

The CDMA version of the HTC Touch (aka Vogue) has no Wifi. CDMA providers traditionally have requested features stripped from the GSM version so that their customers are more locked-in.

[Q] Any chance of an EVO froyo port?

I love the speed and low battery consumption of FroYo, but miss htc sense, I have seen the theme for cyanogenmod, but that just changes menus etc, I want my calendar, widgets, and dialer back.
Did this already happen and i missed it?
Please ask in the evo section
Sent from my hero running froyo... take that Sprint!

 thanks. Im actually on a hero with froyo, soooo....
Im just assuming it would be an easier port since they are both CDMA and on the smae network and since the EVO is running froyo now with HTC sense overtop.

its alot harder than that, there is working being done to port it from the legend and aria but the evo uses a totally different processor and has alot of other differences other than just both being cdma

simple question easy answer

been trying to find the answer all day no luck, its simple, logic tells me what should be the answer but need confirmation.
Very simply I just need someone to confirm that cyanogens download page listing hero and heroc that common sense is right and heroc means cdma, just had to make sure here didn't want to give my luck a chance to brick my phone.
Yes Heroc is for CDMA and hero is for GSM

Even if you had flashed the gsm rom all that would happen would be bootloops. Its the radio that will brick you, not roms.

Root Sprint cdma HTC Hero 200??

I am in China and bought a Sprint CMDMA HTC Hero 200 on chinese version of ebay, it's running radio baseband version 2.41.05.02.99.
The whole interface is in Chinese, and has no English option.
I'd like to root it, but the unrevoked root doesn't support my radio baseband.
I also tried the RegawMOD root, but it doesn't seem to work on my Hero 200??
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Also, I'm curious, how different is the Hero 200 from just the Hero??
It seems that none of the roots meant for Hero will work on the Hero 200, is that accurate?

There is a website in China called diypda.com. Some of the users there are also members of xda. The phone can be rooted, but I don't know how. Check that website. The 2 members I can remember (their xda names) are "idogxx" and "old.ghost" - you could also PM them. Good luck.
Try out the app from this thread, thanks.

z4root worked! thanks a lot!
On a side note, it turns out this phone is CDMA, but i'm trying to use it on GSM network (china mobile)
When buying the phone on taobao.com the seller said it was GSM; when I take the battery out, you can see a whole that was cut into the casing to expose the sim card slot in what is meant to be a CDMA phone.
Is it going to be possible to use this phone with a sim card on China Mobile?
if it helps it is HERO XC SHIIP S-OFF

If US Cellular is CDMA, it's most likely possible.

Umm... We don't want to tell Football wrong section. He's the man when it comes to leaks!
HTC Merge is a CDMA/GSM hybrid running Android 2.2 Froyo with HTC Sense user interface, has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 3.8" 480x800 resolution capacitive display, and a 5MP autofocus camera with LED flash and 720p video recording

i didnt know it was a cdma phone. Never mind then football. Post away.
yep, US Cellular runs on the same 3g frequencies as Verizon/Alltel/Sprint/Boost/etc.
The Merge/Lexicon was announced for Verizon a long time ago and then just kinda vanished. There are actually a couple Verizon branded ones floating around out there. It has since released on a few regional CDMA carriers, including Alltel and one or two others, but any hope of an official Verizon launch is pretty much gone. It's a nice phone, performance actually a bit better than the dinc, slightly larger screen, keyboard very similar to the T-mo G2..... I'd trade my dinc for one in a heartbeat as long as it can be rooted and run on Verizon bug-free...
Any confirmation on if it is safe to attempt to flash this?
Do not use the ruu... It could be unrootable or possibly wipe s-off. I can pack it in a zip though that you guys can flash.
What version of sense is it?

hmmm this is the same deal as the inc2 port its a world cdma phone so until someone fixes data on this no daily driver and im 99.8% sure this is sense 1.0 stil
2fast talked me into giving this a shot. Turns out it works. Gingerbread and Sense 2.1 is working on my Merge currently. Will update if I have any issues. This just made my night.
You beat me to it. I checked the ruu out and is safe to flash on the uscc merge. It will also work on other carriers but do a backup of you apn info with apn backup and restore.
How ever this thing needs moved to a merge section lol.

LOL! I'm guessing you didn't read that thoroughly. He asked could it be hacked to run on our phone and the other guy answered: If it's CDMA, it's possible. This is a true statement and that's why a lot of folks here are running roms ported from the Evo 4G, Evo Shift, Evo 3D, Sensation, Acer Liquid and the Incredible 2.
This has been posted in the wrong forum.
Maybe football made a mistake.
