It started as soon as I received a phone call from my brother and we were in the middle of a conversation when the phone suddenly goes off. I tried to restart it, I even removed the battery and replaced it but when I press the power button I get the initial boot sequence showing the htc logo and then the phone would just go of. I thought that maybe the battery is low but when I plug it to a power outlet it keeps trying to boot but keeps switching off and it just does this over and over.
Please I don't know if anyone has encountered this problem before, I really don't know what to do.

Try a Hard Reset using the device buttons:
1. With the phone off. If it’s frozen or unresponsive, pull then replace the battery.
2. Press and hold the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons and power the phone back on.
3. Continue to hold Volume Up and Volume Down until a factory reset screen appears.
Hope this helps!

Well I just did that but the problem persist. I should note that occasionally it does complete its boot up and I can use the phone but it can go off at any time and once it does this, i cannot get it to completely boot up. Once it attempts a boot up and goes off I cannot even restart it by pressing the power button until I replace the battery or plug it into a power socket or the computer at which point it will just keep booting up and shutting down.
Something far wrong there. Get a replacement device.

Hi, I have got the same problem on my HD7 and I am completely noob to many new words Goldcard, jailbroken, etc. Would you please advise me exactly what you did (i mean flahing procedure) and really appriciate any help.
Well if you have got an O2 HD7, then I would advise you to get one of the O2 ROMS from ansar, download it then press and hold the volume down button when booting up your device, connect the phone to your pc and start the app. More instructions in the HD7 development thread.
There's nothing wrong the phone. Don't hard reset or flash it. It happens from time to time, just give it some time and eventually you will see a battery icon appear. Then after awhile it will boot up.
Again, do not flash or hard reset just be patient. I believe it just needs to drain all the way down as it doesn't have enough power to fully boot.
Not booting up
Hi,

Hi,
My Nexus one died yesterday and will not switch on (the power button is broken (due to pressing it too hard))
The only thing is that it was rooted, and I had flashed fotakill ages ago so it didn't upgrade to Gingerbread.
My network provider is going to do a swap/exchange, tomorrow, and I really want the new phone exactly as this phone was (with fotakill and a few other custom apks)
Now bearing in mind that the power button is kaputz, is there any way I can make abackup/copy/dump of my current ROM ie. by connecting it to the PC, or will I just have to start from scratch?
The trick to turn a N1 on without the power button is to connect it to your charger and insert and remove the battery (whilst plugged in) a couple of times. Eventually it'll get confused and turn on! Best of luck.
You are a god!!!!
Thank you!!!!!
although it only worked once.
That trick doesn't work now

Best using a USB cable for this trick as it works everytime!
Plug in usb cable (obviously connected to computer) and when the orange light comes on take out battery and as soon as the light goes out put the battery in quickly and it turns on. I've been doing this for several months now and along with two apps 'Lock screen' and 'Quickboot' I haven't looked back or even missed the power button.
I can also get you booted to recovery using this method and fastboot if you need it.

Copy Ra's recovery to your sdk/tools folder and open a command prompt and boot phone to bootloader (do this by using the trick above to switch phone on whilst holding the trackball down and you will be in bootloader mode) plug in usb if not already attached and it will say in red highlight 'Fastboot usb' and in the command prompt type -
fastboot boot c:\sdk\tools\recovery221.img (rename as appropriate)
This will use the recovery on your computer to boot your phone and allow you to do whatever you please, for your case that would be backing up your rom and transfering to the computer for safe keeping. Any problems catch me in the irc help channel in my sig and I'll sign in now for you just in case.
This is really starting to p me off.
It worked and turned on the second time I tried it but then I remembered I didn't have the the SD card in the phone toperform a rom backup.
Been trying to get it back on for the last hour non stop, my fingers are giving up.

Just chill its easy.
Take a deep breath and just follow my instructions.
Plug phone into pc and the charging light comes on after a few seconds.
Pull out battery slightly so its just off the pins and wait for the charging light to go out.
QUICKLY slot the battery back into place (if the lights start flashing when battery is out then its to late and start again)
Phone should boot without a problem. Its all about timing and if you take it easy and get yourself set before doing it trust me it becomes that easy you don't even have to be looking at the lights
I promise you I'm following your exact instructions and nothing happens, the orange light just turns back on. Seriously gonna throw this phone out the window in a minute.

Mines never 'confused' it just switches on. I only have to do it once, never repeatedly. Try take a five minute break, have a cuppa and come back when less frustrated.
Dunno what's wrong, just doesn't want to play, so strange that it worked once though earlier on.
As i said its all about timing fella, I have just got used to it now so its simple for me but understand your frustration. Only thing I can say is when that light goes out as you release the battery slightly (if you set the battery so its out already and being held in place with your thumb to keep the connection it makes it easier) and the millisecond that light goes out the battery get pushed back in to make the connection and hey presto it should work as I'm doing it myself as I type.
Definitely doesn't want to turn on anymore, I'm doing it exactly as you described above with no luck.
Maybe..... does anyone know if ADB can power on a device, I know it can reboot

It can't as it needs the phone on to run the commands. This is your only option. Just wondering your battery is charged?
yes, lol, it's now fully charged as the orange light is now green.
This is what I'm doing:
Back cover removed
Battery slightly raised (for ease) but held in place by thumb
Insert usb (connected to computer) into phone
Light turns orange (now green because fully charged)
Remove battery
Light stays on for about one second
Light goes off
Battery is then re-inserted as soon as that happens
Light then turns back to green
Bums
Start again

Just wondering if anyone can help me out here..
My HTC is not turning on at all. I was using it fine, nothing was over heating and it was just in my pocket. I went to check on my phone and it was just off. Is there anything I can do, or possibly take it in for warranty. I have never owned a HTC so I don't know where to go for support. I am from Sydney Australia. Any help would be appreciated. I have left it on charge for 30 minutes - And nothing yet, not turning on

Tried everything.. I bought this phone from Gumtree Australia a few months ago and that person got it from the Optus store via Contract I believe. But I don't have the Receipt however, I have the box and accessories and warranty stickers that come inside the box. Would I have to go through Optus store or is there a HTC One centre like they have Apple and Samsung centres/stores..
This question is probably only for Australian users
I heard of this before... Try plugging it into your computer and leave it for an hour. Then... (While still plugged in) hold it under a bright light and hold power + vol down, for a few minutes. I think this problem occurs because CWM allows the voltage to get too low for the phone to start. Good luck man

The light has to be facing the phone. You can see the two sensors on the top left on the front, point the light there.
I fix mine by let it charge on wall plug for 4 days straight until red LED started to ON back..lets it charge for another 1/2 hr n press the power button to ON the device..weird..4 days just to gain back some juice due to battery completely die..

By stating that simple sentence none of us could determine the exact cause. Maybe you've did something wrong during the connecting of your phone to your PC.
In order to make sure your phone is connected to PC, make sure you first hold the volume down button, and then while holding, connect the usb cable to your phone. Then this will make your phone properly connected as flashmode.

I suggest for you to try this one unique method used by adfad666, a developer.
He tried to boot into flashmode, by holding the volume button and the yellow reset button.
If that fails, another person successfully made it by plugging the phone in while on flashmode and then press the volume button down.
If that fails again, another person made it too by actually charging it for the whole night. He then could connect his phone in flashmode. Does your LED bar ever lights up when you connect your charger? This might work for you
Another person tried so much (trial and error) until the phone is recognised.
PS Its fascinating and scary that hard bricks can be recovered mostly by luck

Yellow reset button is a force reboot button located in the backside of your phone, underneath the battery cover. It is intended fore reboots when a device is freezing. But yea a guy use it for recovering from hard brick. He has experience with hardbricks caused by kernel (lol because he builds kernels!) by using that yellow dude on the phone. This however require many trial and errors, as it is quite complicated to actually achieve flashmode connection using the yellow button compared to the normal procedures. However, chances are you may succeed.
I would like to have a look at the resource you used to modify your hosts file, if you please to share.

turns out what you did is completely different from what I intended. Well it seemed that your phone is stuck somehow. In a normal shutdown, when you press that yellow button, it won't start at all (yes I did that an hour ago before suggesting you that. Since it fails, I didn't tell you about it). Maybe this will make some hard bricks recoverable? I don't know either. This is a really strange world.
Okay wondering aside, congratulations that your Xperia SP is recovered from a hard brick! :fingers-crossed: It happens rarely, sometimes simple things can fix it.
No this phone isn't bad. I did so many dangerous things and haven't yet face any hard bricking (I am not quite happy you know, it seems like the hard brick is getting closer to me!). Well there is no firmware updates from Sony that is. However I don't really care about that, since I hate bloated stock ROMs anyway. And personally I don't really care if we are doomed to stuck on 4.4. But I do wish 5 or Lollipop could run on this first Android device of mine.
It was in a moment of anger no judging please
1) The screen is obviously destroyed and wont even turn on.
2) My computer doesnt recognize the phone.
3) If its plugged the phone blinks its notification light for like 5 minutes
4) if its unplugged it blinks only when I hold the power button. It also blinks once when I unplug it.
5) I dissamble the motherboard and it doesnt seem to be harmed.
The question is, do you think the phone is dead or should I replace the screen, all repair shops ask me the PIN number to give me a diagnostic, which is reasonable but I dont want to give on my privacy to fix a phone.
