Just wondering if there are any roms out there that allow overclocking but don't have delayed lockscreen touch? I have tried a couple and they seem to have about a 1-2 second delay before I can unlock my screen and its a but annoying.
If I understand correctly, the only ROM that should have lockscreen lag would be Darchdroid 2.7. That's due to some kind of workaround to get the touchscreen functional. Any sense based or non-aosp ROM shouldn't have any kind of lag.
i use recovery heroc162--- .6 stock w/odex by nfinite and darchstar4 @ 710. my clock speed always reads at 691.21. my device has the lock screen delay. its a little annoying.
is there any possible way to get the vanilla lock screen?
Vanilla lockscreen wont help. It has to do with the fact that they are using AOSP synaptic drivers instead of HTC synaptic drivers. .6 Stock from nfinitefx will have no lockscreen delay if you dont flash a OC kernel. Stock everything is fine because it is using the right synaptic drivers. Currently I have tried everything and there is nothing out there that is overclocked and doesn't have lockscreen lag except Ic3Rom. I was trying to figure out a way to flash that kernel into the Darchdroid rom but i can't find anything. It is extremely annoying and everyone says live with it but there is no other device on the planet that has a lag on the lockscreen. I want the devs to attack this problem first before anything else. I would literally kill if someone could get a DarchDroid Rom with absolutely no lockscreen lag.

Actually, if u'r using a non-AOSP rom, such as SenseUI based roms, there is an OC'd kernel you can flash by Urushiol. U'll have to flash the v4 kernel, as it does use the HTC synaptic drivers in it. Currently, Urushiol and Darchstar are working on compiling a undervolted (UV'd) kernel that uses the correct synaptic drivers (by HTC) so that we can have OC + UV kernels that won't have the 1-2 second lag upon waking the device. Hope that helps a little for ya'llz.
I have used Aloysius overclocked and it has a lag like DD 2.7 does. What you can do is use DD 2.7 and in the settings you can set the trackball to be the unlock. Tap it twice, no lag.
It really isn't that big a deal.... What are you racing to do that a 1 second delay is annoying? Hit menu, don't think about it and then hit unlock.
v4 kernel @710 has the delay.
nfinite45x deoxed with HoneyBunOCV3, I don't seem to have the delay. I had the delay with all the other OC update zips for the rom. Could just be me though

The original rom even has a slight lag when the phone was sleeping, but as soon as the screen is awakened, you can instantly click the unlock button... with the AOSP drivers, aka uv kernels, you have to wait a second or two even nafter the screen wakes to click the unlock button.
I have read that some of the OC kernels will idle down to 19 for a minimum, even when the screen is on. However, I have never had this problem. Are you using an OC widget? I would get the OC widget from the Market and set your minimum and maximums there. Also, set the min and max for when the screen is off. I have mine set to be a min of 245 when the screen is off and I do not have any lag.

I just recently rooted and started loading ROMs that support SetCPU to overclock. I was wondering if there was a way to overclock the Sprint HTC Hero without running someone's rom (like Fresh Toast)? The only reason I rooted was to make my phone less laggy but I hate all these ROMs/Mods because most of them are broken/incomplete and hate how I always have to wipe my phone to update//change ROM.
Since lately I've been trying to do the exact same thing, I should be able to help.
You're going to have to root your phone (which you obviously already have done) and flash a kernel that allows OCing.
this is the only one I know of on this site: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=690238
However, that one did not work for me. (I was always stuck at the HTC boot screen). You should try it though, and if it doesn't work PM me and I'll PM you a link to another site that had a kernel that worked for me.. since I don't know if linking to other sites is allowed.

Sadly, the stock rom cannot be overclocked (for pretty obvious reasons.) Give Fresh Toast a try. I am running it without any problems. Toast's custom kernel makes it super fast. I also recommend using overclock widget with these settings:
Screen on: min: 576000 max: 768000
Screen off: min and max: 245800
just be sure to check "use my frequencies" and hit "detect frequencies" so the kernel does its job.

The stock ROM CAN be OCed if you flash a custom kernel that allows it.

I am currently running Fresh Toast, but after about 2 days of using it with SetCPU at 768000 max and 19200 min, my phone starts to get as laggy as before. I dont really know how to use SetCPU maybe I'm using it wrong, I just tapped the option where it chooses for you. Let me know what settings I should have it on if these are wrong.

Well that min. is way too low imo. I use 633600 as my min. and it's fine.

Well I'm new too so I can only help a little.. lol.
You flash it the same way you flash a ROM I believe. Use the "flash from zip" or whatever it's called in recovery. Put the zip in the root of your sd card. You're going to want to put stock 2.1 on it again first though I think, unless you want to keep your current ROM.

ok so if i use one of these: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=684838 or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=690238 I can use the stock Android 2.1 AND overclock?
a kernal is the foundation of an os. all the system values are stored there, its like...the engine of the phone;from a software perspective.
id highly recomend darchworks. by far the fastest, and i promise youll never need an oc tool. just hope you dont mind kissing sense goodbye
happy flashing

im happy you liked it, because its the best jk!
you should know that in most cases, if your experiencing lag, sense is usually to blame. why dont you give zens slide port a go? sense with a whole lost more options and its definatly overclocked...iht it was the fastest sense rom ive ever used.
I've had my Wildfire since a few days before the UK release (a lucky call to T-Mo one morning!) and generally I quite like it.
However, I can't break 1.5 MFLOPS on Linpack, no matter what I try.
I normally run WildPuzzleROM 7.3.1, on a stock kernel. This gets me at best, 1.3. So I tried a few different flavours of Froyo; WildPuzzle, Cyanogen and Openfire. At each point, I've tried the stock kernel as cooked with the ROM, and also HCDR.Jacob's kernel. I've installed SetCPU each time, trying it on performance and standard, even with both the sliders pushed right up. I've done the tests before installing any other apps I use, and without any installs, downloads, etc, going in the background.
And despite all of this, I cannot break 1.5.
Am I expecting too much from the Wildfire? Or is there something wrong with my device on a hardware level?
Any help would be appreciated.
Chris
hmm there might be somthing wrong as i get around 4.7-5.099 on openfire
Its low because you're on stock with no overclock or jit
As before, I AM using a non-stock ROM, and have tried a few different non-stock kernels, including pre-overclocked and ones overclocked using SetCPU.
When I used Wildpuzzle ROM v.8.0.11 with non OC Kernel(did not boot), I had round about 1,9 MFLOPS. Now with Openfire v. 2.2 on 710MHz I get results between 4,5 and 4,7 MFLOPs. I'm using no system tools or something. Maybe slow sd card?! I'm using samsung 2gb which was preinstalled when I bought my wf.
I managed a 3.65 @ 768MHz yesterday on CM6.1. I was getting about 2.1 on Wildpuzzle 8.0.8 but without any OC kernel.
I just ran another test on CM6.1 with JIT turned on and got 3.48 @ 768MHz. Is there any way to boost this further?
I'm still really impressed and awestruck at how much better the phone is with these mods. It's like a got a whole new model now

That's probably it. I've only got 3-4 apps installed and just did a complete wipe of the sd-card.
And another thing, do you have your phone overclocked to 768 constantly or does it change depending on system load? Becouse I do usually have my phone set to overclock when needed, but I set the clock speed to always stay at 768 before I run the banchmark to be sure the cpu runs at maximum speed.
I am using cm [email protected] 768hmz and getting 5.16 with jit on...
And with jit off, i get 3.3 maximum @ 768hmz

I'm using OpenFire 2.3 and just gut 2.2 MFLOPS on linpack, i suppose not so good. I wonder what is JIT and how can i be sure if it is on or off.
It says it's on by default on openfire but i wanna be sure coz 2.2 score is pretty low. How can i check that?
Sorry for the dumb question coz i'm new to android.

JIT is,(without getting all technical on you), the new compiler in Froyo that makes thing go faster.
But I don't know how to check if it's enabled in openfire, I used openfire a while back but cant remember seeing anything about JIT in the settings. It might be so that it is always enabled and you can't disable it.

There are packages in the open fire thread that lets you turn jit on or off...

there you go
to know if JIT is enabled type in ADB or in Terminal
adb:
:adb shell
:dalvikvm -h
you should see below "with JIT"
terminal
:su
dalvikvm -h
you should see below "with JIT"
If its disbaled you should see "fast"
I'm running "not so free super froyo" ROM on 2.6.25 kernel on Bell HTC Touch CDMA. Everything works, but sometimes I have spontaneous reboots: usually when phone is doing something intensive (like calculating route in Google maps navigation) it seems to freeze up for a sec and then reboots. No overclocking or anything special.
Anybody had this problem? Is there any solution or known kernel/ROM combination that is known to be stable? I've tried couple of other roms, and 2.6.32 kernel, but had the same problem.
Try the ROM Fresh Froyo with the latest kernel .25 and then says how it went..

That's exactly the one I have...
Best kernel I have found for the Vogues is the 10-31-10 2.6.25 NBH kernel.
Best as far as working with USB connectivity to XP or Vista / Win 7
Best as far as stability in a kernel
It even worked with the new Gingerbread dated 12/29 from dzo

That's the one I flashed and tried super froyo rom, and still I have problems - every several hours I just see linux text lines this time - have to remove the battery to shut it down. Or it reboots...
When i use sense roms my phone works perfect!
When I use gb roms like kushdeck or the jaybob rom, it will reboot usually after I get a call and when I wake the screen up, but it does reboot when it wants.
They worked before on my other before I got it replaced with this one.
I hate sense, its just too slow!
Help me please!
Have you been overclocking? If so, overclocking too far can cause your phone to become unstable and reboot.

No, I never mess with that stuff.. I just install the rom and gapps.
Hello, first of all sorry for my English. And now to the point, when I was using stock rom I had no random crashes and freezes. But the stock rom was like made of wood. There were no customizations ant mostly important volume music controls. So I tried many custom roms. All of them where instable for some reason. I was having about 10 crashes and freezes per day, really annoying. I was trying to find solution in Google, there were no helpful answer... So I was changing roms over and over, was trying to find stable one. No success, then I realized that most of them use same kernel (I think it’s squadzone's). So then I thought that maybe if I find somewhere a different kernel it could be fixed. And wola, [Overclock kernel 806 mhz Galaxy Mini] fixed all my problems. Now I run my galaxy on 806 mhz and there are no stability issues any more (most of the roms works with it, but for now I am using cyanogen mod 7.2). I am not sure does someone else has this problem, but if someone really does, try this kernel. And I want to ask developers maybe they could find what is wrong with those other kernels? (It took me about a year to find solution, I don’t want that someone else suffer this :laugh
P.S I found that Cyaogenmod 7.1 kernel is stable for me too, but it has no good OC feature.

I don't know, found it accidentally.
did you always tried to overclock your SGM on every custom rom you have used?
You think I wouldn’t have thought about this?? Of course I tried to decrease clocks, I tried everything.
make a backup of your Boot.img to flashable zip before try something like that.

If you over clocking it too much yours processor can't handle that. Every phone have his stability zone.
