Battery or handset?

Hi folks
Post no.1 so please be gentle
I have had my phone for a couple of days now and it seems that i have either a faulty handset or battery and wondered if any of you guys could help me find out which.
Basicaly, when i charge the battery either from the plug in charger or using the usb cable from my pc the progress bar only gets to about 86-87% no matter how long i have it on charge for. Then when i turn it off then on again it says the battery is at 100%.
Earlier i had it on charge for about 2 hours and when i checked it,it was at 87% so i turned it off then on again and it was 100%.
It has been like this since i got it and it is still the same after updating to latest ROM.
I'm hoping that its the battery so I can just get another one because I dont want to have to try and get another handset because most places are out of stock.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Gaz
in some cases the batterie stops charging when its getting too hot (it will still display "Charging" but the Led isnt glowing anymore), but that wouldnt explain why its on 100% after a Soft Reset. Did you tried different Programs to view your Battery status?

Thanks for the reply
The only other program i have checked it on is the one that comes with the latest ROM(Batti) and this just says the same.
Even when the status is stuck(say at 85%)the lights in the circle are still indicating 'charging'.

Anyone have any ideas what this could be?
Thanks
Gaz
Have you tried actually removing the battery for a minute and then replacing it?

Battery's problem

when my phone is fully charged(I also got the notification)the battery's icon on the status-bar said 100%. But when I unplug the phone, the battery icon suddenly became 97%. I don't know what the hell happened to my battery. My phone couldn't charge over 97%. Does anyone can solve it? Please help me out!

This is a 'feature' of the i9000, it will rarely charge to an honest 100%.
There is also considerable debate around this issue or 'feature'.
I suggest you read threads like this one for more info; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=871051
fear not, there is nothing wrong with your phone. If you like *THIS WILL DECREASE THE LIFE OF YOUR BATTERY* you can 'bump charge' it. This involves charging to 100%, turning it off, letting it charge to 100%, unplugging charger, replugging charger in, letting charger charge to 100%, repeat as much as you like. This process forces more juice in, but it can damage the longevity of your battery and possibly cause an overcharge if you do it too much.
You will find this mentioned in a lot of places, so please learn use the search tool. Apologies if you're getting started, but it is important to learn!

Battery Charge Issue

hi everyone,
I have issues with charging the phone, it takes a seriously long time to charge the phone. When the battery was at 20% I plugged it in to charge overnight(8 hours) and it only charged to about 50-60%. I've tried plugging it into both the wall outlet and computer and still have the same result. Could the problem be the battery, charging cable or that it is running on a custom rom?
any help would be much appreciated thanks
kind regards
Was the phone powered off ?

How long have you had the phone? It depends how often the battery is charged and recharged. Try to wipe battery stats in the recovery or recalibration to see it helps. Or it could be the battery is no longer holding the charge. Time for a new battery.

No the phone was on but should that effect the charge time that drastically?

Only had the phone for a couple of days because its a second hand phone and like you suggested I've wiped the battery stats but that didn't solve the problem.
The phone does hold its charge so I'm concerned if I buy a new battery the problem would persist.
thanks for your suggestions

Some Roms are battery hogger.
Sometimes, screen is working but not full light and you don't notice reloading.
Sometimes, battery loader is damaged and loads really slower.
My Rom is a battery hogger, and my Data cable is a bit damaged ^^ If I don't power off my phone, It won't load enough to be noticed.

I can't charge the phone turned on

Hi, I have a problem namely battery will not charge at on the phone. In the phone, the battery is kept constant at the same level, in the case where charging leave for the night reaches 100%, but Without the charger immediately decreases to the level before charging. I tried to charge the phone battery different levels, but nothing. It charges only when the phone is off.
Currently I have the room

I would be grateful for any help. Phone Galaxy Ace S5830.Battery original.

Sorry it was unnecessary on my part. No I did not check, and how to do it?
After your help, I cleaned the file again and to my surprise the battery was loading and recharge to 86% and further something not want to charge. Then I left my phone charger at night and Without the charger has dropped to 54%. Battery Calibration gives 54%.

Shutdown your phone and then put off your battery, and see if this is inflated, maybe your battery is dead :S
and..I'd advice you don't leave overnight charging your device, this may break your device's battery
Thanks a lot Viper The Ripper for all the help.
Problem solved, the battery can not be saved and had to buy a new one. Subject to closing
However, the problem is not solved, I put new battery recharge up to 100%, acted a little state has declined to 87% wanted to recharge again with curiosity and an hour remained at this level that the problem may be in the USB cable, charger, I tried to recharge the phone connection laptop unfortunately nothing. Any advice ?

What does cable_detect_lock wakelock mean and how can I fix it?

I have a stock, unrooted HTC one m7 and I got this wakelock a bout a week ago but I can't find any info about it.
My guess is it's to detect if you plugged in a cable into the microUSB port. If it's not a big battery drain, I wouldn't worry about it.

In this case it is a big drain. Sometimes when I plug my phone in it won't charge when plugged in all the way ,and when it does charge and gets to 100%, the charging light goes out and it starts discharging like it's been unplugged.
