Hello friends,
Have just buy a HTC SPRINT HERO. I'm in India now. Can anybody guide me to use it with my local carrier. I want to use it with Reliance Telecom.
its easy .. in away ... i got mines on metro pcs... its called flashing.... u would have to get a esn # from there phones.... n place it on the hero ... then configure the settings..... u might not b able to get web or mms .... cdma workshop can help u but it costs....it might b hard ..... theyre company must use cdma tech. instead of sim card !!!

Hi all, new member here, just want to say what an awesome site !!
I am in Australia, and there are a few PDA2K's for sale here, but they are CDMA phones, i was wondering if they can be used ( with some mods ) on the standard gsm phone network ??
and if so what sort of mods would be req'd ???
thx in advance
Simply put, no. Converting a CDMA phone to GSM would require new radio chips, new antenna, new ROM... basically a new phone.
bugger, a shame that.
thx for the prompt reply
So dont destroy me... I was on the phone with alltel today *****ing about how slow my diamond was and the guy told me to google some roms for it... and Now im here... does anyone have a good direction to point me in so i dont destroy my phone i need it for school and if i effed it up it would destroy me so im just trying to be cautious...
Its an HTC Touch Diamond From Altell (now i guess our service is provided by verizon but whatever) Can anyone point me in the right direction so I dont fail at this and ruin my phone?
try the CDMA Rom posts.... You'll find many ROMs there, try them out and see which one you like the most. There's a tutorial also (on top) explaining how to flash your device .READ IT !!!! VERY IMPORTANT
cdma roms r what ur gonna need. also read the tutorials on how to unlock the phones security and read about how to flash ur own cooked rom.
I have a CDMA HTC Hero from ntelos and recently upgrated to the HTC Desire also with ntelos. So, now my Hero is just sitting around.
I wanted to give the Hero to my wife, but ntelos won't let me do this unless I sign up for another data plan. As it stands right now, I have a data plan for my Desire and my wife has no data plan for her standard cell phone.
Is there any way that I can switch phones from her standard cell phone to the Hero myself? Is this possible at all? Could someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks. I'm a totally new-b at this type of stuff.
Probably not legally. If the carrier requires a smartphone on their network to have a data plan, then you will have to get one if you want to use it.

Sent from my CDMA Hero. I got some hot Gingerbread-on-Hero action here!

It's absolutely possible. There is a thread within our Hero realm that has it around here. Search for it, it's here. I remember reading it a while back when that same question was asked.
Happy hunting! (and I would link it, but I'm about to head to formation).
Thanks for the replies. I've tried doing some searches, but I'm not sure what to search for exactly. I'm having trouble making sense of all the terminology (esn, prl, etc.) Any idea of what to search for exactly?
Thanks again.

As far as I can tell, all you need to do is replace the SIM card that works for your carriers over there. Hpe that helps.
Try the sim of not you need to modify the radio config
