I am fairly certain that CM has all those things. However, I'm not totally certain, as I don't use CM, I use asimROM, which is based off MCR. And I have flash support, Wifi tethering. To prove this, I turned it on, and switched my laptop from my network to the unsecured wifi network that my n1 is generating, and am posting from that. However, I am not sure if CM has any of this.

CM6 has all stock froyo features plus more.

Yes, download the Hotspot Toggle widget and you're good to go.
God, I love that widget.

2.2 ROM to flash

Is there a release of this ROM to flash on my Mytouch 3G 32a?
I wanted to test it out and make some modifications to it for educational purposes with my friend.
Also, a cliq too. Would that be possible to flash the same 2.2 ROM for two separate phones or would I need a special one for the two different phones.
Thanks.
Man, not this again. Wait until Android 2.2 gets on a phone officially.
Cyanogen can port it to the g1/mt3g (also the n1 and the droid) but for now all we got is android 2.1
You have to ask another dev to port it to the cliq since the cliq isn't really talked much about on xda.

Thanks for your reply. I'll look into it. But I wasnt looking for a cyanogen release or any other ROM modification release. I wanted the Raw 2.2 file.
Cyanogen won't be releasing anything before its officially released.

Wiping back to a google ROM

Hello,
I'm running the latest stable version of cyanogen 5.0.7, which is the last, i think.
And i'm having trouble with my APN settings. I want to perform a clean wipe and revert to a google ROM to see if I can get the APN settings to work on my G1 with that. Is this possible without actually breaking the phone?
I don't think it'd be downgrading as the latest Google ROM is 2.2 and 5.0.7 comes up as 2.1 on my phone.
If it's safe, could someone tell me how?
from what i understand u basically wanna go back stock so if thats then heres a link
although its been a min since i did it this way but hope this helps
thanks for the reply.
according to this page, G1 only supports up to Android 1.6 in its official form?

You know, there might have been an actual REASON why you installed a cyanogen rom.... and it was probably because of the fact that HTC DREAM only has official images to 1.6!
Unless you were just installing cyanogen rom to make life difficult....?
how could installing cyanogenmod make life difficult when it has so many cool features. I can't even remember if android was even past a 1.6 release when i started using cyanogen. what was the point of your reply?
either way, i can't remember the reason why i installed cyanogen. could have just been purely for the sake of modding.

cyanogen mod

Im very new to rooting and rom switching so please go easy
I just tried the cyanogen mod 6 for my nexus 1 and i have a few questions about it.
First, i cant really see anything new accept a few things in the cyanogen menu under "settings". Second, i cant see a speed increase either. Stock is actually working faster!
After all the amazing stuff i keep hearing about cyanogen, i just wanna know, what is it about this one (cm6) that im missing??? I just wanna appreciate it like everyone else
I have no clue.. i went back to Geo411m's ROM..
Personally i want a ROM that is more closer to stock as possible, and i really have no need for certain tweaks really. I used the 5.0.8 N1 quite abit before i went over to Froyo. It was allright for me but later on i really like stock based ROM's.
i agree. its seems as though the stock roms work best with froyo (for now anyway) i have been using a rom called "frf_blackbar_v3_signed" and its working great.
Since im new to this stuff (coming from an iphone!) i just figured i was missing out on something right under my eyes! I know its a new rom and it will get better too.
Have faith and give CM some time
They've been working on it for two weeks and its only their first official froyo release(RC1). Im sure things will pick up and get more exciting soon.
I also tested the performance of stock vs cm, and they didn't differ by that much...
Cyanogen has tons of additional features. What I recommended you do is look at his changelog.
He has listed all the new goodies.
Personally I like the kernal which allows overclocking, the music app which has support for flac right out the box, and the renderer which switches the screen color to save you battery.
I will pay attention to Cyanogen ROM for sure..
yea il be keeping an eye on it as well. Can i ask...
What is a kernel?
What is a online kitchen?
why do we have to flash different radios? (do they mean TMO and AT&T radios?)

Exact same here. Went from CM6 to Geo411m's ROM yesterday. Its fast, I know what I have, and battery life is good. Tried LeoFroYo this morning but there was just too much there for what I need. A quick Nandroid restore to Geo411m and that's where I'm staying for now

kernel is the guts of your system
online kitchen is where users can create their own roms
new radios add new features that some roms depend on
i don't recommend you messing with any of these things until you do a lot of reading
from what i understand the only way to truly screw up is if i DONT do a nandroid backup. If i do a nandroid backup once when i just rooted and unlocked the bootloader do i still have to do them every time i wanna put on a new rom to fully ensure that i dont brick or badly screw up my phone?
not necesarily, i nandroid before i do any mods to my system just in case i trash it i can boot it right back up just like it was 5 mins prior
If you truly brick your phone, you won't be able to boot into recovery to restore. You do a nandroid once you have your rom setup the way you want, so when you restore you go back to that point. Cyanogen is one of the best, if not the best. The man went through it with Google, just to bless us with his gift, show some RESPECT!!!!! I just flashed his latest & greatest, and I love it. Although im not a fan of white status bar. I like nothing stock, but I flashed black status bar, and pushed black goggle search box, and rm the apps I didn't want, like twitter and gmail. It's a keeper, and will only get better. The more ability to customize the better. That's why I root in the first place. Options, options, options, I love it.

You don't brick your phone by flashing a new ROM that doesn't contain radio. You don't brick your phone with almost anything that you do, in the worst case - you're left with a phone that doesn't load OS and needs wipe+reflash, and you lose all your settings and data.
But:
You DO brick your phone by flashing the wrong radio / interrupting radio flash before it finishes.
As with the rest of your questions: I suggest you use this forum and Google and read a lot. That would answer your questions.
Also, I was a user of CyanogenMod on 2.1, kept it until LeoFroyo hit 1.2-beta, flashed, liked, and now I'm with Enomther, who has a fast, stable ROM with most of the features Cyanogen has, and it covers everything I want/need. I'll wait for CyanogenMod to integrate Apps2SDExt into framework, and then compare it again.

Sorry, but why are you even talking about CM6.0.0 RC3 when the final is out, and yet even better there are nightlies which you can install which is way more feature rich than the final??!!
Tell you what, hit the CM forums, skool yourself up, cop a nightly, flash it, then come and ask for help (which by then you shouldnt have to)
Any ROM can be used on an SLCD device, it's the Kernel that will decide if it will work with the screen. eViLs latest kernels and intersectRavens work with it as they are based of Cyanogens source.

A few informations..

Hi,
I recently switched from a Xperia X10 to the Nexus One due to the lack of update from Sony Ericsson.
We can't unlock the bootloader the X10 so even if I flashed a lot of custom rom and root ect... It's my first time with kernels ect...
So I was wondering on how the kernel is important and if I well understood, he is the one that will put the driver for the hardware as it's the one that can increase audio and put 720p ect..
And I also see a lots of threads about radios ect... I totally understood how to flash it ect.. but what is it exactly ? Is it like a better frequence for your antenna or ??
I'm currently running kernel version : [email protected] and baseband version : 32.24.00.22U_4.03.00.21_2 and I have Passion Recovery.
Could you please indicate me a good combo of kernel/radio/rom that would give me 720p, running at least Froyo or Gingerbread (for flash) and that is stable with a good linpack/quadrant score.
Thanks in advance,
Zyryck
Simplest thing for you, CyanogenMod 6. It is FroYo, has the audio mod and 720p camera kernel. And you should already have the best Radio.
There is no reason to really mix and match stuff at all. The state of the development scene isn't that way anymore.
Some people do fiddle with kernels and Korean radios and such, but they do it because they like doing that sort of thing, not because they have to.
90% do not have to worry about those things. Install CyanogenMod 6 or some of the other popular mods in the development section and you should be happy.
Don't worry about the individual parts until you get used to things, and even then it won't be needed, just a hobby.
Ok thank you it is certainly what I'll take. But Cyan 6 or 6.1 ?
But I still don't know why Radios stand for.
And yes I'm one of those Guys that will flash to another roms every 2 Days but since Nexus S and new Phones are out I know Devs are leaving Nexus One so that's why I was asking forr a fast and a stable one.
So I'd just like to know what's the Radio ?
The radio is hardware/software that deals with the communications side of your phone. GPRS/HSDPA/WiFi etc.
That's what I was thinking about but then what are the differences between a radio on an other one ? Are there some faster than others ?
Plus Radios are generic ? It doesn't depend from your Carrier or Country

If you're go to run Froyo you'll be required to update your radio to 32.50.00.32U_5.12.00.08.

Well I'm running 2.2.1 with 32.24.00.22U_4.03.00.21_2.
Should I update it to the one you said because I don't see anything going wrong. Except perhaps that when I connect to internet without Wifi it's written 2G but when I had my X10 it was either 3G or H so I don't know if it is related or not since I've only been able to connect to 2G with the Nexus even when it was not rooted and flashed to any rom, radio or kernel
Wild monks have pretty good kernels but I have no idea about what radio to choose cuz theres literally a lot of them. I just get really confused with them and
Still looking for a good radio tho.lol. But cyan mod is freaking awesome. Combined with inexus theme and it's the best ui interface I can find. plus I have swype too so I'm not going to give up my nexus any time soon until tegra 2 phones arrive
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
I'm gonna wait before putting my hands on the Atrix and other tegra 2 phones because I want to see if there won't be any problem with the bootloader ect... Because getting stuck with a device that can't get bl unlocked is very very frustrating.

That's actually not true.
There's no need to be messing with your radio unless you are having a specific problem. If your custom ROM requires a certain Radio to work, it will probably be included in the package anyway.
Flashing custom ROMS is almost completely safe but flashing Radios can lead to a bricked device in short-order.
