[Q] Music player doesnt work after battery reaches 10% - Captivate Themes and Apps

I dont Know if this is a standard android thing or some dumb samsung thing, but why does the music player stop after the battery drains to 10%. It's my phone if i want to kill it using music then so be it. WTF

i noticed a similar dilemma with the camera :\
not sure of the percentage though...

I Havent try'd the camera that low yet. I understand that those things may take more power but if im choosing to use it then it's my fault if my phone dies.

Video player was the same way, but i could play youtube videos until it died.

Why would you want to use the music app at that low of battery? Not to be a **** but that's why its called a smartphone

Because it's MY phone and I want to do what I want to with it. If I'm at home listening to music idc if it dies. I wouldn't use it if I needed the phone to last that bad

Well I hope to see a fix for it, although its not a big deal.

There probably is a fairly simple work around.
I don't know of one yet, but I'd believe that there is.
I feel the same way, its my phone, I want to do that. I sacrifice the 2% that it might take to snap 1 photo.
Plus, I'd prefer if it were just a warning rather than a 'kill-app'

Use non-stock apps.
Have not tried it with camera, but music and video players that aren't stock don't give that message. I recommend mVideoPlayer and Doubletwist for video and music respectively. Both free. Rockplayer is another popular one for video.

I have it for about 2 weeks to try.
You guys got any questions about the device ? anything you want to know ? Will try to answer
Status LED
Oh Great!
yeah, here's the first one:
I saw on different pictures just left to the upper speaker several... let's say "spots".. in the display. I suppose one is for the brightness regulation and the others? For what they are? Would be amazing if one of these spots is a Status LED! Could you come up with this info?
thanks!
PS: h t t p://presse.lge.de/riot-utils/download/media/3/87566576697678/lg_optimus_speed_2.jpg Here you'll see what I mean.
probably proximity senzor, I dont think it has led indicator.
test battery life with sync and all apps and backround services, debugging etc off.
tet standby over a night with 3g and 2g.
then test heavy sufing with opera mini and standard browser on lowest and hight brightness
Yeah battery is important.
real life performance
Hi
I would be interested to know how smooth the optimus 2x would be after one day of usage and without using an application killer.
from my experience with the Galaxy S, the phone is quite smooth at boot time, but after sometime of usage where you would open and exit apps, the phone would get really laggy and even unusable to the extent that you have to reboot. People resort to using task killers to improve the phone performance which negates the purpose behind the android OS as it is designed to run at the same speed irrespective of whether you have 200 mb of free ram or 40 mb of free ram
So is this same with the optimus 2X or is the smooth experience persistent
Thanks
sadly .. its only the proximity sensor and nothing else .. digged into the menus and could not find anything about notification led

It's fault of Froyo not the Phone i think. There is multi task but no chance to close apps. With gingerbread update it will be better i think.
BATTERY ?
Does it play divx/xvid/mkv out of the box? and in 1080p?
If not, does any market app like vplayer or rockplayer solve it?
could you tell me if the LG flavour of Android includes the original News and weather widget?

Lag is a software problem not a hardware problem. The question is whether its a problem pertinent to the Android system itself or the vendor specific add-ons (bloatware) that each vendor adds (Touchwiz, htc sense, etc)

I picked the phone up about a week ago.. Here's what I can tell you about the performance over time.
Immediately after a reboot it runs like a dreams.. even after a couple days its fine. I ended up having to reboot today because it was starting to get pretty laggy. But like rouvax said, i believe thats an OS problem, not a phone problem.

The phone comes with an app called CarHome (one of google's apps i believe), which after looking at the battery usage is an energy hog. After killing that, and some of the other bloatware that comes on it, the phone will last me a day or so of light usage with wifi constantly on. Playing a lot of games will obviously drain the battery, down to about 8-10 hrs from what i've noticed, I haven't tested it extensively for exact numbers

Hi!
One thing that would be nice to is if there is a widget to enable/disable mobile data connection.
What I mean is the widget "mobile" that (mostly?) HTC devices have.
Maybe the 2X/Speed has one under "LG Widgets".
Here are some screenshots of what I mean:

Hi,
Does the 2x support USB OTG or USB host, i.e. is it possible to access an external USB storage? Would be great to stream media from an external hard drive via DLNA or HDMI. A micro-SD card is too small for a feature-length 1080p movie.
Thanks

[Q] Need a new mp3 player, suggestions?

At the moment i have a SanDisk Sansa Clip+ and im looking for an upgrade.
Something under £90.
Any ideas?
Thanks
I don't know if it's just me, but I prefer using my phone as my primary music player as I would want to have everything integrated into one device (easier to carry). Do you people find any appreciable difference in music quality between a dedicated MP3 player vs inbuilt-music player on the phone?
I prefer a separate device, as then your still have a full battery on your phone.
And the quality is going to be better because it has one function, to play music.
The Cowon J3 has (from what I have heard) a simply AWESOME battery life and great music quality. Plays almost any file too!
Cannot post outside links yet, so you have to google

Time to ditch the G1 and get fly on a G6.

how am i supposed to get more than 3hours on screen time with this phone?

Sony really messed up this phone by putting a tiny battery in it.
I can only get 3 hours of on screen time with it.
All the reviews lied about 5-6 hours. its a joke.
I had the phone 4 or 5 days now, screen on 20%, NFC off, stamina mode on.
if i use the phone, its only for the occasional phone call, some basic website browsing or watching videos on MX player with H/W mode.
for example, it lost 15% battery watching half an hour video. thats 30% in an hour, so basically 3 hours of wtaching a video.
My phone is currently on 60% battery.
its been 17.5 hours since it was charged to 100%.
android system has used 21%
screen has used 18% (with screen usuage time on 1hr 12m)
wifi 13%
mediaserver 11% (what the hell is mediaserver??)
Cell standby 7%
voice calls 7%
etc
stamina mode is on, and i've whitelisted nothing.
It's had 2 or 3 full charges since i've had it. the battery life is a joke.
from my usage above, does this all sound normal???
i love this phone, except the battery life. sony really messsed up here.
Sounds similar to my experience also.
Had over 5 hours with the phone on 13 hours of battery, yes there are software issues but this should be possible.

Screen on time does not mean watching a video. Have you also tried turning off the bravia engine? You'll get a bit more life out of watching videos then.

i spend a lot of time travelling, so will rely on this to watch a lot of videos, plays games, etc.
it seems like a good purchase right?
because i absolutely love everything else about this sony phone, i even prefer sony's version of android over stock android! first time I have ever preferred a manufacturers version over plain vanilla android.

I never watched a video only some youtube videos, so it might be different with watching videos. But I have the device since 28 February and the battery really seems to be improved allot. for instance I have used the device in the same way as last Monday but now I have over 10% more battery than last week. Also I noticed that the brightness heavily impacts the battery. If you are in a pinch the best is to lower the brightness to it's lowest setting with auto brightness turned on. Another thing with video is that it will differ between videos as bit-rate and format will have an impact on the battery. I would be surprised if you really notice a difference between 1080p and 720p in terms of quality since the screen is very small, but I would guess that it would be less demanding of the battery. Maybe a bit of experimenting with different bit-rate and format is warranted.
I would also know what the hell is mediaserver...i got over 14% usage...

Mediaserver does seem to spring into action whenever you view images, watch videos and listen to music. For some users, it then goes into overdrive using a lot of processing power, making the device hot and draining the battery. I've read that a corrupt file can send mediaserver into an infinite loop.
Anyway, the mediaserver battery drain is an Android issue - users have been having the same issue with galaxy s3, nexus 4, nexus 7 and other devices. Try force stopping Google Play Music and uninstalling the updates, and if you don't use it, disable it altogether. Then switch off your phone, wait a few seconds, reboot and recharge. Other than that, you may have to reboot after loading music, videos, images or find the dodgy files (if there are any) on your device. Not really an acceptable situation - Google need to sort this long-running issue out.
Media server will show up when your watching videos/listening to music... Compare its awake time with your time watchings vids, and you'll see they match up. I noticed that newer versions of mxplayer are draining more battery than older ones on my XperiaS.( 5h vs 8h , theoretically) . Try downloading older version that has "hardware decoder" , not "hardware decoder+ " , or disable Hw+ . Im getting mine XZ this week ..i'll look into it

Media server is responsible for a lot of things. But most of the time when it is stuck it is stuck on indexing. Could be the SD card, best is to reformat the SD in the phone. Also I noticed it is sometimes slow to update photos that I added manually, this could be because I have stamina mode switched on dough.
You can force the Album app to re index by removing data and cash and re starting your phone.
Hmm...need to sort out this media server problem...do you have any solution..

Like I said format your SD card in phone put the media back on it and let it be indexed. indexing is done by the media server and depending on the media on your sd card this could take a while. Also switch off stamina mode while it is busy indexing.
Also cAn u say me that how to soft reset the z...long pressing and holding didnt help

I've got 54 percent battery left and I've got 2 hours 26 min screen on time right now, that's with watching some video, looking at pics and web useage. That's good enough for me.. 5 hours screen on by death.
I finded a solution for lowering mediaserver.
Keypad sound off,screen vibration off.
But when you turn on music or look videos it will run again.(images don't have anything with mediaserver)

battery life and music playtime

i am planing to buy the xperia z but i have a few questions....
how long would the battery last with heavy usage of music playing (2-4hr/day) and browsing the internet (wifi or 3g) ????
and how about the loud speaker quality i 've read in a few reviews that the loudspeaker quality is not that great

Yep, listening to music doesn't drain a lot of juice One hour and hasn't even moved past 100%. But web broswing on any android device sucks the battery, screen is the biggest culprit on my phone for battery usage

First off, the speakers suck, but if you were going to listen to music through the speakers then you're just an idiot just saying (No offense).
On the other hand the music quality through head/earphones is really superb and is in my opinion the best you can get (When it comes to phones.) I don't know how long the battery would last, but it shouldn't be a problem at all to use the phone with 1 charge per day.

Ringtones shouldn't be a problem at all.
But for example music will suck (It will on all phones anyways) because for example you won't hear any bass.
So I measure battery consumption today
I heard music using regular headset for one hour and 20min.
And that consumed 7% approximately with stamina mode is on.

Music Players/Which Do You Use?

What music player do y'all use? As far as battery, UI, sound. I have ran into big battery issues with the VS980 in regards to listening to music on my phone while at work... I have used almost every Rom/kernel/V4A/Music player combo possible and no matter what I just want to smash my phone by the end of the day... Any feedback would be appreciated.
