Motorola Milestone Media Dock Disable? - Motorola Droid and Milestone General

Okay, so I was able to disable the launching of the media dock application when the phone touches the magnet portion of my case, but how would I go about stopping it from waking up every time i do so? Also, does anyone know if it impacts the battery if i leave it connected to the dock with the screen off?

Try the "No Dock" app from market, if you are using stock ROM.

I already use something similar, and it stops the media dock from showing up. What I want to do is completely disable the magnet sensor altogether. That way, if I put it on the media dock, the screen stays off, and doesn't turn on at all. Does this app do this?

If you have root, then yes, this is why I create this app.
But currently only tested on two particular model and kernel version Milestone and HTC Evo 4G.
For more info you can view the demo video here(for the initial working version): http://goo.gl/w1mR

Recently found that No Dock cannot work on Droid stock ROM.
The latest version has this fixed. So if you got Droid stock ROM (or ChevyNo1 kernel) then please try again.

uninstall multimedia dock app
You can use titanium backup to uninstall the stock apps. You'll need root and I would suggest you backup any apps you don't want in case you change your mind later.
I've tried to remove both the desk dock and car dock app, the phone will just switch on the display when it is close to a magnet or being put to the cradle/media station.
Alternatively, market has some app to act as dock application so that there is a chance to override the default moto dock app. I've tried some, none could completely eliminate the docking event.
So I wrote the "No Dock" app, although it needs root, it can completely eliminate the docking event so that Android won't even know about a magnet is nearby.
I always use this app to disable the docking event so that I can put my phone to the cradle/media station anytime without worrying of wasting battery.

Disabling the docking function in 2.2

Is there any way to disable to docking app the runs in android 2.2? Its forcing my screen to go to landscape mode and opens the home dock app even though its not docked.
This is not an excelorameter issue. The excelorameter works fine!

once you have opened the dock app, you have to hit the exit button or it will keep coming back on.....it doesnt just run all the time
I have totally removed the home dock and the car dock from the phone since i thought that was what was causing my screen to go landscape and not come out of it. It was actually the built in Dock app thats part of android. I was hoping someone knew now to totally remove the app from the system.

LOL. There isn't a 'built-in' dock app that runs. Especially in captivate/i9000 roms.

Yes there is its known as Home Dock!
Ok I flashed back ot Eycar Last night, then upgraded back to froyo. I am currently running full stock rom with all the ATT bloatware. For some reason after a day working fine, something has chnaged the flippen home button to the stupid new home dock! Also my screen now is stuck in landscape mode!
There is something totally messed up with samscums release of froyo and I have had it! This **** must stop!
I want to totally remove there home dock app but some how they have integrated it into the operating system. This is what I am trying to remove! Or is this there way of saying use a custom rom!

there is nothing 'built in' and it has not been integrated into the operating system. desk home is an app. if you have launched it one time, even if you press the back button, it will keep coming back after you hit the home button. open up the app again and hit the EXIT button. car home is the same way.
think about it. if this was true, dont you think there would be 5000 threads on here stating the same thing that you are???
there isnt so its something YOU are doing on your phone causing this....i really dont know how to be more clear that this magical 'home dock' doesnt exist in the OS....its an app. you EXIT it after you have launched it, instead of using the back button....

Desk dock no longer in app menu

Desk dock no longer appears in my menu. I can load it from smartactions when charging. But cannot switch back to in from the app switcher either as it does not appear there either. Is this the case for anyone else.
---
I haven't rooted the device and its running the standard European Jelly bean update.
Everyone still has desk dock in their menus?

nope. I noticed the exact same thing. I use smartactions to bring it up when charging the device over night. But the ICS dock is no longer in the menu. I looked through the phone for some time and could not find the program to directly start it.
Thanks for the info. That's a shame as it was quite useful to switch programs at work.

Keeping screen on when charging?

I've tried relentlessly to find a way to keep the screen on while charging, to practically no avail.
I ended up installing an app called "Stay Awake", which worked in theory, however, after 5 seconds the screen adjusts to the dimmest setting which is nearly impossible to read unless you are in a dark room.
Without that app running nothing else works to keep the screen on during charging.
Anyone solved this issue yet?
Thanks
Why do you want to keep it on? There are some clock apps that i think do this. But not 100% on that.

I use it to stream music to my car stereo using Winamp. Its aggravating to have to turn the screen back on everytime I want to change the song/station.

What I described above is what happens with auto brightness off. After 5 or 6 seconds the screen dims, but stays on, which is fine at night, but during the day its unreadable.

no idea then
You need a car dock app then. Dashdroid used to do it. Been years since i used one. But check out dock apps.
I recently came across a setting in Settings/Developer options/Stay awake. Perhaps that would do the trick

Did you enable the Developer settings by tapping repeatedly on the build number in settings? I have the setting on my Note 3. Or do you mean it doesn't really do the trick? Sorry lol

Try Screen Timeout Toggle. Great little app that worked for me when I needed this feature while on my Note 2.

The setting is under the developer options screen. (If you don't have developer options enabled go to settings->about device and tap on build number about 10 times. (half way thru tapping you'll see a pop up telling you how many taps are left))

Help b4 my note eats a wall

Can someone please tell me what this is and how can I make it stop. It pops up constantly for a few seconds and then disappears. First the "G" and then 3 blue animated dots. It's not app dependent. I've searched for days and cant even find a similar image on google image.
Please ignore the volume slider in the first image.
When ?
Seems triggered by a BT device....

Ignore the volume slider I bumped it. It was hard to get a screenshot of the G screen because it only lasts for .5 second.
I'm pretty sure its malware. I found the fake system app and blocked it (with a knox based firewall) and it stopped. I found the apk that caused it as well. My n950u is on oreo and has never been rooted (because it's not possible) but this user app was able to write to /system. I'm both concerned and impressed by the implications.
What app?
