I've recently noticed that youtube videos only work for me when using 3G. Apparently stock youtube app uses normal quality on 3g and high quality videos on wifi by default. Unfortunately our devices can only play normal quality video, so is there any workaround to force normal quality video while using wifi?

Right.....should have mentioned that i'm running Dzo's Froyo on Kaiser
Soooo..I quess this thread should be closed now. Thanks for the info i always thought that the only difference between kaiser and vogue was the physical keyboard.
I think I got Polaris mixed up with Vogue.
just change the quality before you start a video.. or maybe that's too hard for you? and the touch/vogue does have wifi...

No need for those kinds of replies as he was referring to another device. Also, the Vogue does not have Wifi...

Hello... just want to ask if anyone here uses slingplayer with your tytn ii? Mine seems to play with a very low frame rate, resulting in jerky video playback. I've confirmed that this is not a problem with my upload speed cos i've tested it with another mobile phone (nokia) and it plays fine. Could this be related to the lack of driver problem raised in the sticky post? anyone else had this problem?
Yes I use Slingplayer Between UK and here in AD.
I dont think it can be related to the drivers as the Sling app is not configured to use d3d (as just about all other WM sw at the mo!)
Of course the data link quality you are using has an effect but the default playback settings for Sling mobile (under 'Player Options' 'Encoding) are...
Enable Sligstream optimisation - checked
Medium action selected.
I find I have a good quality picture if I select High Action once the buffer and Sling Optimisers have settled down.
If you have a very good data connection, try disabling the Slingstream optimiser and increasing the values apart from resolution a little.

I guess I'm lucky - works like a dream on my vario III with default settings.
I'm jealous!!
No, Really, I get a very good picture until it gets to the weekend here when everyone gets on their PC and the bandwidth reduces and causes it to slow between here and the UK. Watching Sling on the Media PC hooked to my TV is just the same on an 8Mb ADSL when this happens.
Have to shoot all those online gamers!!! (Had a strange turn then, sorry!)
I have to admit that it works far better on my Tilt than I ever expected it would (but I only connect via wi-fi hotspots).

may be a router RTSP routing performance issue - dunno. use an alternate, FLV-based player. see my YouTube Bible (sticky in General)
Hi,
A firend of mine bought a Diamond so I tried some apps on it. And I found out TCMP is a bit slower on the Diamond than on my Elf which is only a 200 MHz cpu overclocked to 234. In fact mine is about 5-10% faster on benchmark mode ! I tried both gdi and directdraw on the diamond but my Elf is always faster.
Also it seems the display is a bit buggy sometimes, as if the vsync was out of sync.
Any idea about that ? I know the screen resolution is 640*480 on Diamond and only 320*200 but I expected a so much better framerate with a faster cpu...
Yeah Diamond is crappy when it comes to video playback. Havent yet found a solution for playing simple streams without fps drop.
The CPU is damn weak and no penny worth.
And HTC dont give a **** about it.
The Diamond has accelerated video, but DirectDraw does not utilize it.

When talking about streamed video playback. Then yes, the diamond is crappy! But if we are talking about file video playback it is really awesome ! You don't even need to convert or compress the video..
well with coreplayer i get about 90% framerate when i play a standard tv episode (350mb, 624x352). and about 95% when i zoom in to fill the screen.
though i would like 100 % better, especially because ther are some times slowdowns.

As for the sibject of the post:
Have you tried changing your video output?
RAW Framebuffer? GDI? ...
What is the original resolution of the video you're trying to play?
it is also slow for me, and it was faster with my Elf.
I tried the same, downloaded divx.

You know that the cpu of the diamond ist only about two times faster than that of your overclocked elf. But it has to process 4 times the data (VGA) than your elf.
Wich a version of TCMP are you using? Did you enable QTV?

thx, that was the problem.
I was using 1.2.4, without QTV.
Now I installed 1.2.5 and it is much faster with QTV. it is perfect.
some benchmark:
86,91% (Direct Draw)
87,90% (Raw frame buffer)
79,78%(GDI)
130,35% (QTV)

I'm using TCMP 0.72 and there's no QTV option in it ! is this an updated version so ? We are talking about TCMP here, not Coreplayer
sorry, i was speaking about coreplayer.

It not nonsens. Diamond is a piece of crap when it comes to play streamed video. Not even af 500kbit can it play without 25% fps drop.
Even if i use Wifi on a 20mbit connection which playes perfectly on my computer with 2mbit streams.

Im quite serious.
I havent been able to play a stream without massive framedrop.
Im using DiamondTv with Coreplayer and Qtv enabled.
My old SE K850i does a way better job when it comes to streamed video.

Thats strange because I havent seen a stream that does have frame drops on my TD using Diamond TV even without using wifion my 3G/HSDPA connection
I stream youtubes all day, goes perfect.
CorePlayer does not support the MSM7200 series QTv chipsets, only the 7500 series.
The Diamond (and Touch Pro) utilize the 7200 series. So CorePlayer does NOT take advantage of the hardware acceleration ... yet - I hope.
That's what several people at CoreCodec have told me.
I am going to keep firing away some comments and questions. This board seems a little inactive especially compared to the Galaxy Nexus forum that I came from
Overall I am really digging this phone, great built, great keyboard, great reception.
One thing I noticed though when streaming Netflix last night was that the playback seems choppy at times. Anybody else notice that? Does ICS or a different ROM fix this?

This might be specifically a Netflix compatibility or internet connection issue. I streamed video from the Xfinity TV Player yesterday and the quality was excellent.
So, casting from Netflix seems to work fine, but anything from YouTube or Play Music results in audio so choppy it sounds like a toddler trying to learn to be a DJ. Video from YouTube plays fine, with no hesitation. Any ideas?
Local files seem to be okay as well. Netflix audio stutters a little at first (maybe 1min),but eventually smooths out. It still does it long enough to be annoying. Kinda regretting my chromecast...
Really, no one?
no issues like that here. well once a youtube video did after i resumed from pausing it reloading the vid solved that issue.
Local files? you're still able to play them?
Yeah, dropping a file into Chrome and casting the tab seems to work. When casting a tab, I'm assuming that a mild delay is typical, right?
To some degree as that is still in beta. Network conditions also play a bigger part when casting via chrome

Well, someone (on another site, obviously) suggested it might be a bad unit, so I returned it. Grabbed another today...and same thing. Is there a particular wireless security type that it doesn't like? I'm on a 2.4Ghz router. Is there a particular channel that's better?

Use WPA-personal/WPA-PSK is sufficient.
I'm using WPA-personal. And all WiFi Analyzer seems to be telling me is that I have great reception. The channel I'm on fluctuates between 9 and 10 stars, but a couple seem to hold on 10, so I guess I could switch, but it doesn't seem to be a big difference.
