Dear All,
I need an urgent help on Kaiser Internet Sharing. I searched this forum and can not find similar problem like mine posted. If my similar problem and solution had been posted before please kindly point me to the thread. Thanks.
My problem: - Internet Sharing freezes my Kaiser.
These were what I did: -
(1) I turned off all other network access on my laptop e.g. WIFI, LAN.
(2) On my PDA I tried both enable and disable the Settings>Connections>USB to PC>"Enable advanced network functionality" (Both worked)
(3) I plugged the USB cable to the laptop and let the syn completed. (I also tried disabling the syn via USB)
(4) Then I went to Programs>Internet Sharing clicked "Connect" at the lower left conner of my PDA. My PDA immediately logging into the cellular network and once it was logged in the "Connect" changed to "Disconnect" and status changed to Connected.
(5) I am able the surf the Net.
What happen leading to my problem: -
(1) After I am done with the surfing, I tried to disconnect by clicking the "Disconnect".
(2) My PDA immediately disconnect from the cellular network.
My Problem: -
(1) Nothing happened after the above. The status still showed "Connected". Even after long wait and repeatedly clicking the "Disconnect" at the lower left corner.
(2) I turned the "Internet Sharing" screen off and tried to click on the "Internet Sharing" icon in the Programs menu again tried to revive, no respond. The icon turned faded.
(3) I unplugged the USB cable. In a while, my Phone button not responding.
(4) I turned off the PDA and turned back on. The Today Screen appaered but freezed. Even I do not turn of the PDA, my PDA not responding to the incoming calls.
(5) From here on, the PDA just not responding to any input, including all button pressed and all screen taps.
(6) The only way was to pull the battery and let it to reboot.
I read threads in this forum that Kaiser Internet Sharing worked like a charm. Have done anything wrong for these to happen??
Thanks in advance.
Oswald
Right i dont know if this is a bug or its just the way the Diamond is but i go to connect to the internet via opera...everything is fine and it connects via HSDPA. But when i close opera down...the connection is still alive ie doesnt disconnect automatically, i have to manually do it myself which is going to be a problem as i wont remember most of the time and im pretty sure the battery is going to be dead the longer i leave the connection as it is.
So is this normal??..reason i ask is with my nokia n95 i connected to the net but when i closed the browser down...the connection died as well ie disconnected automatically.
If this is normal is there anyway i can change an option that will close the connection as soon as i disconnect from the net??.
Again sorry for asking but its puzzling me as to why it would keep the connection alive even if i wasnt using the net...
Anyone help?? or is it just the way it is??.
I noticed the same thing -after coming from an iPhone and an N95.
Just go into the connection manager and close active connections after use. Its a pain, but an easy solution until someone suggests something better!

Yes, it's "normal".
You need to press the "end call" button, or configure it using the setting application to drop the data connection, or use the command manager to switch off the data connection, or use advanced config program to set the data connection to end after some minutes.
Well the way i figured it out is by using the long press key function, ive mapped it to my call end button which if i press for a few secs..disconnects me from the data connection.
I was hoping that there would be an option where you could specify when to kill the connection off ie after 10 mins of idling...ive been looking through the settings etc and cant seem to find anything...neither can i find anything in the advanced config program either other that gprs auto attach which ive disabled...

Thanks...ive had a look through the settings in the phone but cant see any option where you can specify when to drop the connection...same with advanced config...i cant see that option anywhere>??
Using 'Advanced Config' you can drop the connection after xx minutes of idle.
Programs > AdvConfig > Menu > Connections Settings.

is your phone off in comm manager?
is your phone connected to usb cable?
if your phone is off in comm manager then the "phone" icon will not be highlighted tap it or press it and should be highlighted
if your phone is connected to usb with "active sync" icon in comm manager highlighted then disconnected and try it
other then that well go to t-mobile and ask them to fix it hope it helped
Hi everybody, I have a big problem and I hope you could help me.
Until yesterday, when I long press the power botton appeared some options, one of this was the "data network mode".
Yesterday I flashed a new firmware, the I9000XWJM7 and the option disappeared.
So now I've paid the connection for one mounth but I can't use it.
Can someone please help me to resolve this problem?
thanks
just go into settings, wireless settings
then configure your APN settings

I've just done it, but the connection is still disabled
thanks for the help, I've just found a way to do it.
Here it is:
"Enable Data Connection on Android Core
To enable data connection, do the following steps in Android mobile phone:
Open dialer.
Dial *#*#4636#*#* to open “Testing” screen.
Tap on Phone Information.
Press the Menu key or button.
Tap on More.
Tap on Enable data connection to connect and make active any data connection immediately.
Tap on Enable data on boot to enable data connection on next boot up."
Now I've still one question: how can I add the "Data Network Mode" to the power-menu?
I'm running stock rooted with xposed. I waited a while before updating to make sure there wouldn't be any major issues with the update to KK. I uninstalled xposed and had to undo the hotspot hack to get the update to take but it worked after I replaced the files. I installed the new hotspot hack and re-installed xposed and every thing works fine or better except for the wireless storage feature.
Wireless storage shows that it's always on. It's not, but the icon in the quick settings stays lit blue and if I go into "share & connect" in the settings it always shows that wireless storage is switched on even when It's not. When I go into "wireless storage" from the "share & connect" page it shows the true status of my wireless storage (off).
Also, I cannot turn on wireless storage from the quick settings anymore. I also can't turn it on from the switch in the "share & connect" settings page either. I have to go into "wireless storage" from the "share & connect" page and then flip the switch at the top to turn it on.
After I actually turn on wireless storage I cannot turn it off from any of the three switches that exist in the UI. I have to reboot the phone to get it to turn off.
Is anyone else getting this issue? Also does anyone have any idea what I can do to fix this issue?
Thanks.
