This was created for the Vibrant, but I see no reason why it would not be compatible with the Captivate. Enjoy.
This Metamorph changes the status bar and status icons to the Sense theme. Make sure you are using the latest version of Metamorph (1.9.13 or higher). I'm not responsible for anything you do to your phone.
WARNING:
Make sure USB Debugging is enabled in Settings -> Applications -> Development.
If you're using the standard TouchWiz launcher, this morph will remove the Messaging icon from the bottom dock. To get it back, open your applications, press menu, view type, customizable. Menu again, then edit. Find the Messaging icon, drag it back into the dock, then menu, save, menu, view type, alphabetical grid (or whatever you had it on before.)

does this change the battery so that it is actually accurate?
Thanks for the tip. I really like how this looks.

Yeah, the battery uses the HTC scale to show level, not the completely retarded Samsung scale that always shows damn near full.
This might be a dumb question, but I'm new to android so I'm gonna fire away anyways. I really prefer the way this made my notification bar look, but there is one thing that seriously bothers me up there, although it isn't directly related to this thread.
Is there any way to change the notifications for apps in the notification bar on the left side? In particular, I hate the way the juicedefender notification looks, and would like to change it to something... less colorful. Is this possible?
Short answer: Yes, if you're dead set on doing it.
Long answer: Metamorph wasn't really designed for Market apps, but it has been done. You would need to create an icon, and then build a metamorph zip around it. You could also pull the app from your computer, remove the icon, replace it with a new one, and resign the zip file. If you're not sure what you're doing, both methods will be a pain in the ass, but luckily there are plenty of tutorials on XDA.

Thanks, I sent you a PM to prevent the further derailment of the original thread.
On a more on topic note, every time I look at my notification bar I like it more and more. The battery icon does seem more accurate, and it didn't affect the brightness control swipe action.
this WILL work if using a launcher separate from TouchWiz right? i use LauncherPro, and just making completely sure before i try using it.

Yes. This modifies the system framework, not the launcher. Technically this morph will work on any HDPI android phone.
What do you mean by not supporting market apps? I can't put apps on the home screen?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
is there anything special I need to do to calibrate the battery icon? I'm at 67% battery right now and it's showing the same scale as the old samsung icon (i.e a sliver shaved off to denote the battery is between 50%-75%)
Do I sideload this onto my captivate or how do I install it??
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Install Metamorph from the market, and move the file in the download link to your phone. There will be a folder called AndroidThemes on the root level of your SD card. Open Metamorph and locate it, the hit extract. After it extracts, select the applications you'd like to modify, or just hit Apply All.
Thanks Man I Got It And It Was Completly Easy Greatly Appreciated
This looks great, thanks for the info. : )

I was explaining to a previous poster that Metamorph wasn't designed to be used to theme market apps. You can put whatever you want on the home screen. This morph just replaces the images. It doesn't change functionality at all.

It's possible that the Samsung battery fiasco runs deeper than just the images. I thought mine was showing a more realistic scale, but I could easily be mistaken.
I ran this and my phone just cut to black after applying 4/4 and now won't start?
edit: sorry, stupid, gave it time, pulled the battery, restarted... it's working fine... I just got a big over-anxious
It will soft reboot after applying the framework-res package. As long as it's allowed to run, you will be fine. If you did something stupid, such as pull the battery, you'll need to push framework-res.apk to /system/framework over ADB from recovery in order to get it to boot again.

I sat waiting for a solid 5 minutes with nothing happening. I tried holding down the power button for varying periods of time, to no avail. Plugged in/unplugged USB: nothing...
Eventually said "**** it" because it wasn't responding to anything, and pulled the battery. Replugged the battery, booted fine, the new framework installed just fine.
edit: I should note that I have removed the standard e-mail.apk (not the gmail one) and it tossed out a comment saying it wasn't there, but I assumed it would just skip it and move on (that's the only thing I could imagine that would cause it to sit at the black screen for so long)

Hello everyone,
Back in the CM-4.0.2 days, I briefly used the HTC Hero 1.5.0 theme from tehseano.
I have now taken bits and pieces of it, and updated it for CM-4.2.12.2.
Please note that this replaces the classes.dex file in services.jar. This theme may cause problems with any other version of CM, and may not work with any other ROM. If in doubt DO NOT apply the services.jar subtheme.
If you would like the Power Control Widget theme in the screenshots, it is located here.

EDIT:
I forgot to make it clear that this theme can only be applied with MetaMorph.apk
Edit: Increased version for 4.2.12.2
In the future, themed music widget, themed calendar widget, and some fixed icons are coming. Please bear with me, it is near the end of the semester, and I am working full time, and going to school full time.
4.2.11.1 has re-vamped dialer icons.
The Power Control widget theme is now included.
Music Widget is now included also.
I have not forgotten about those that want a Dwang's ROM port, I am looking into it.
I am also going to work on a version to be flashed over Stericson's Lock.
Hopefully the next release will also include themed music/calendar/search widgets.
Sorry about the gap in updates... The holidays are a hectic time.
Dang it.
Apparently 4.2.6 made some changes to the Phone.apk images... it will look a little off until I can rework the images. You could just skip that sub-theme until then.
m0zes,
are the highlights green or orange selecting icons or in search and browser?
i love the power widget, hope that you addressed music and search widget accordingly.
My time in the notifications is still black, any suggestions?

It sounds as if you did not apply the services.jar sub-theme. I probably should have mentioned this earlier, but the reason I have to use that piece is because those colors (for date and time) are hardcoded in the classes.dex file. I wish there were a better work around, but this is the best I can do for the moment.

Hilights are supposed to be green with this theme.
I will fix the music widget in my next release, and update a couple of the browser icons. (Browser highlights correctly, but the colors are off on two of the icons)

Sorry I don't have an update for 4.2.7.1 yet, guys. Full time work and School hasn't left me with much time as finals are coming up. I am going to try and have an update this weekend.
I'll also look into posting a theme for Dwang's ROM.
Great work, it makes me love my G1 all the more.
Even with the small issues with clock and dialer, this is a fantastic Morph!
School > Making our G1's pretty. Finals week incoming.
Edit:Failed at reading whole thread first.
4.2.7.1 is posted. I am hard at work attempting to theme the music/search/calendar widgets and fixing a couple of images that aren't of the quality I would like.
I have fixed the dialer bug in this release.
Thanks for the update. I've been patiently waiting on it....
ive never used metamorph before but is it supposed to take forever on "framework"
it was taking to long and it kinda of killed home to the point where I had to unlock my sim card.So i exited out of the program and everything seems to be running fine except all my widgets were not loaded.
should I try again and let it finish?

framework-res should take 30-45 seconds (maybe more with the latest MetaMorph update)
Widgets are notorious for needing to be re-added after theming. You should delete them and re-add them.
I am also replacing a decent number of icons in the Home screen, so Home will generally need to be reloaded afterward.
Not to mention the fact that any changes to framework-res should be followed by a reboot .

Everything worked out fine with the install. I started to leave my job last night and turned on my bluetooth headset. It would not connect at all. I was thinking to myself, "This guy is taken this hero s*** too far. No working bluetooth!!!" I just rebooted my phone and the bt connected again, LOL! Other then that BT prob, everything is working just fine. Thanks again for your work.

Heheh, maybe I could try that for the next version
I may be able to get it to nuke a driver somewhere...
I have a question, can I delete the files the theme creates?
I have 700 images now on my phone and going into gallery to look at my pics and wallpapers is like going through a jungle.
@m0zes:
You should put a .nomedia file in your morphs, that would solve the issue with the images showing up in the gallery.
You can take the file from other morphs cause it's universal and contains no data.
I talked to Hans regarding a thread specific to the Axura ROM. We were getting some great ideas from people, and needed a place to put it all together, without cluttering up the ROM thread. So I got his blessing. Out of respect you know
If you have any yourself and are interested in displaying them here; go for it! There have been some great things being tossed around. I use the standard 960x800(Or very close to it). Personally I use Flikie to display my wallpapers, any new ones I download/create, I just go to my SD(Internal)/Flikie and copy them in the Wallpapers folder.
Most of the ones I have are images I have acquired from other locations, Flikie, Zedge, Deviant Art, etc. I just do my own bit of modifications to fit my needs. If I can locate the original creator, I will most definitely credit them. Please do the same.

Using Root explorer, go to, System/Media/bootanimation.zip, and make a backup of this file. Copy the boot animation of your choice to your device and rename it bootanimation. Copy/Paste it to System/Media and select "Yes" to overwrite.
Reboot
Great job by dlfuse06 for making the blackhands into a Live Wallpaper. It's freakin' awesome! Just copy it to your device, and install it just like any other apk. I've renamed it to "BlackHandsLive"

This isn't a wallpaper or boot animation, but it seemed like an appropriate place to post it. I've been making some slight alterations to the stock axura theme and thought some one else might want to use it. It mostly just changes the button presses from the ugly stock blue to orange. Just about everything in the system is orange to match (I like consistency).
It also has the AOSP lock screen instead of the modified android lockscreen. I like this better since I use a music player (Playerpro) that has lockscreen controls that uses the AOSP lockscreen sliders and I like consistency.
It also changes the tabs on the top of the phone and contacts app to a gray color instead of the blue.
The notification bar is the same that comes on Axura except I've put in the battery icons from beta 4. If someone likes the orange but wants the circle battery back, I'd be happy to provide that too.
You can just flash the file from CWM.

I'm working on it currently. I'm not really sure the best way to show the button press in a screen shot, but I'm going to take a few of the lock screen, notification bar, and the pull down. If you have any screen shot you'd like to see let me know.
I'd also like to point out that I didn't create any of these image files. I just pieced them together from other themes that I like.

Here you go.
I spent a while looking for a blue theme yesterday and didnt find anything in here, so I moved to other forums and found the beautiful MattedBlues theme. I decided to port it even though it was for cm. It came out pretty nice, but I left the notification bar black since a gradient on the notification bar came out really low quality. I'm willing to update this and encourage you guys to find things to change. I packaged this in metamorph so it would be really simple to install, but if you're new to it, i'll give a short tutorial below. There's also an cwm zip for kb1 and cog now.
SCREENSHOTS:
I only themed the framework-res and twframework-res, and metamorph only changes the included files, so all of your prescious lock screens are safe

HOW TO INSTALL THEME:
Install metamorph (I think you need busybox too, so install that if you don't have it)
Download zip file
Move to SD card
open metamorph (press start checks)
press unzip/extract new theme
select zip and press close on window that pops up
press apply all and continue
WHEN IT PROMPTS YOU TO REBOOT, SAY NO. (you can, but then you have to repeat this process)
press pick existing theme and press BlueGB
Press blueGB.xml and then close on window
Apply all, continue, blah blah blah, when it prompts you to reboot the 2nd time say yes.
I think I read in a swype theme thread that you should always apply themes twice with metamorph. I ran into this when I was testing it and had to apply the theme twice to get it to work, so just do it to be safe.
HOW TO INSTALL BOOT ANIMATION:
1) Download the free app "Boot Animation Changer LITE" from the market
2) Plug phone into computer and turn on USB storage
3) Go to bootanims/stock
4) Replace bootanimation.zip with the one in the OP
5) Turn off USB storage
6) Allow su permissions, click on animations, scroll to STOCK, and press "Change to boot animation"
7) Let it do it's thing and restart. You should have the new boot animation!
This looks awesome! Will be using this for a while
Also, why did the title bar look like a bad resolution? How did you uncompress/recompress it?
Be sure to not use any compression at all... just put it in a zip file with no compression, otherwise it will make your images look bad...

Man that's weird, looks bad without compression but with compression it looks a bit better... I'll mess around with this for a while, you can try it (just another morph to put on top) here if you'd like. As for KB1, could you do a nandroid backup and test it? AFAIK (PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG) it should work for most of it, and extra files in the framework shouldn't get it stuck on a bootloop. If you tell me what's not themed, I can try to fix it.

running this on uckb1. the toggles are off a little (mixed between old and new tw-framework), and whenever you have five bars of reception, it reverts back to white signal bars (serendipity is based on an i9000 framework, i believe, which only has four signal status bars).
i'd like to see this for uckb1 completely, but it does give me a solid black status bar, for which i'm eternally grateful. thanks much
EDIT: for boot and shutdown animations ... bootanimation.zip goes into /system/media, intact (use root explorer. your quality of life will quadruple after buying this app). shutdown.zip gets extracted; take the folder inside (shutdown) and put in /system/media/video. again, use root explorer.

Can you guys on kb1 post screenshots of the toggle icons and other things that aren't working? Also, I think I'm almost done with v1.1 with the semi-transparent notification menu and maybe some additional app theming, but since some of you like the black statusbar, i'll leave the original up too. I'd love to get this working on kb1 I'll look into the blue orb screen and do the best I can.
hopefully that's clear enough. wifi, bluetooth, and gps are on, silent and auto-rotation aren't. the notification background is stock.
thanks for the effort - just my two cents, but i'd love a transparent notification drawer background with black status bar.
edit: the battery icon reverts to touchwiz animation while charging.

Could you try this? It should give you the transparent notification menu. As for the toggle icons, I know exactly what's wrong but it may take a little extra time to finish because I'm going to use different icons (without the little bar thing).

Would you be ok if I just made 4 bars show up as 3 and 5 show up as 4? That's the simplest solution I can think of. I'll try to fix the battery thing right now, too.

i think that's what most themers have been doing, or some variation on this.
Try this?
If you applied the jacked up metamorph I added 1.1/1.1a you will need to SBF to get your **** right, sorry, I warned you. After you get SBF'd back to stock you can re-root and apply 1.1d. No more surprises, PROMISE!
After seeing a lot of requests for a Gingerbread theme I decided that since
MetaMorph seems to dangerously be working why not give it a go and just
compile a large Gingerbread theme for it.
Note of caution: Using MetaMorph can potentially softbrick your phone,
in all my testing I have yet to do so, but just know it is a possibility. I am not
responsible for anything that happens from you using this MetaMorph theme.

Thanks testing out now!!!
Edit: i extracted it to AndroidThemes and when opening it using Metamorph I can't find the .XML. Also, when trying to unzip using the original .zip file in metamorph, it tell me that the theme control file is missing?\
Edit2: NVM found the solution

Yea I edited step 4....it seemed a little ambiguous at that point I should have
screened it step by step. I'm cloning the CM7 repo right now for the other images I need.
Donating soon!
I'm totally wiped after work today...i'm cloning every repo I need, including the
documentation on what gets compiled where and then i'll update tomorrow in the
AM with v2.
Also going to be adding multicolor themes...(cyanogen, red, white, pink, etc.)
OK, so my WiFI, Battery icon, and black notification bar seem to be going well..
HOWEVER, for my signal bar, when I boot it up it shows the Gingerbread style signal icons, then after approx. 5 seconds it disappears and shows the stock icons.
Could Jewremy's Mods have affected this?

OK, let's run over this again...
- You SBF'd to get rid of Jewremy's Mods
- Re-rooted
- Re-applied the MetaMorph
And still no success?
Bear in mind, I haven't used Jewremy's mods.
After some looking...it will be easier to mod Jewremy's ModKit...and update this thread with
the modded version, if he'll allow it.
Yeah--Of course I could've just pushed the old framework-res.apk back onto my system, but there was so much edited crap inside the old framework-res.apk that I decided to just SBF.
Yeah, you can see the changed signal icon for like a few seconds when the phone boots up but right after, the icons change back to the stock icons. The same thing is happening with the 3G icon.
I think it will be easier to use Jewremy's ModKit to apply these mods. having the SystemUI.apk constantly force closing and stuff is going to give people a tough time!
It sounds like it has something to do with when the phone syncs with google, it changes to the stock icons. Did you change those also? There are the white ones, and the green.

Well after visiting the idea a little more thoroughly...i'll feel much better using
metamorphs...i'm looking through Jewremy's stuff trying to figure why they
default back to the stock, especially if the values/images have been
changed/overwritten on the SystemUI.
The changes metamorph makes are not as system intensive as Jewremy so
from a theming perspective not using his mods may be a price to consider
when using metamorphs. Nothing against him or his mods.
I've decompiled SYstemUI.apk and i'm sifting through what I can in it right now.
I left out icons in the metamorph unintentionally, working on releasing the newest
now...to be exact I included icons for 'fully' whenyou ryou are connected to Googles
servers but left off the default ones...been months since I themed anything. New 1.1
zip in 20 minutes.
I've received permission for you to use Jewremy's ModKit for use in your themes.

[18:53] <kshen1> Jewremy: we're wondering if we could use your ModKit to create our own themes
[18:54] <Jewremy> yeah. go for it.
[18:54] <Jewremy> I used uot.dakra.lt and apkmanager to do everything.
So it is safe in a sense to change icons, notification pull down and lock screens? Im asking because I created a thread where people could post what they used and worked and its basically collecting dust, lol.

You should make a MM to get back to stock, too.
Also, can't wait for notification bar + overscroll + others.
v 1.1 w/ signal icon and other notification icon fixes upped, check OP.
@kshen, the reason you were getting that error was because I left some important icons out
of the folders, it has been corrected now.
Downloading now, will report back
Status bar is fixed, but other stuff is broken. hold on while i upload a video!

Introduction
This mod adds an option to hide/restore the system bar to the power menu (appears when you press and hold the power button). You can see screenshots at the end of this post. Please read all instructions and requirements carefully before installing.
This is the very first release and stable performance is not guaranteed! Make a backup before installing.
Prerequisites
Retail Wi-fi Tab (7510).
Deodexed ROM based on UEKME stock firmware.
The ROM must have framework-res.apk and android.policy.jar unchanged from stock. This mod overwrites these files. If they have been changed by the ROM, best case you'll cancel some of the ROM modifications, worst case - your device will stop working. If the ROM uses a custom theme or adds elements to the power menu (such as 'Reboot' or 'Boot into recovery'), most likely it isn't compatible. If unsure, ask your ROM developer. In case your ROM is not compatible, ask your developer to include this mod into their ROM.
As of now (September 16), StarBurst ROM should be compatible. I think it'll work on Task650 ROM, but you'll lose extra options that ROM has in the power menu by default.
Installation
Check all the prerequisites!
Make a full nandroid backup!!!
Download the attached update.zip and put it on the sdcard.
Flash from the CWM ('Apply update from SD Card' option).
Reboot (the boot will take a while, it's normal).
Long press the power button to see the updated menu.
Select the "System bar" option.
Click "Allow" in the superuser prompt.
Repeat 6-7 to restore the system bar.
Troubleshooting
Long first boot (several minutes showing Samsung logo) is normal. Boot animation with sound playing over and over is not.
If the mod doesn't work, try rebooting. If the problem persists, post logcat.
If you device doesn't boot, double-check all the prerequisites. If everything seems in order, post logcat.

update.zip is attached to this post (mirror)

Works on Task650's V6 Rom.
Awesome. Can't wait for this to be baked into a few ROMs. Great idea.
Should be in every ROM from now on. More screen real estate = massive win for videos, gaming, you name it.
Excellent work.

It will probably be less useful for games than you think, since most games have graphic resources designed for specific resolutions. My guess is that you'll see a lot of black margins in games. Also not very useful for videos, unless you watch a lot of old movies that are not widescreen.
My primary motivation was reading, actually
this would be great for web browsing for me. the stock browser always take precious real estate for tab on top and the system bar on bottom. i always looks squeeze to me. this is one of my complaint comparing to ipad2 aspect ratio.
dolphin hd solve this issue. but with this mod it will be even better

You can hide tabs and address bar in the stock browser by enabling "Quick controls" in settings (Labs section)
Worked for me on Overcome. Lost extended power and themed settings menu.

I know this not exactly a bug or anything but i just want to say that if anyone one else have a better idea to toggle the hide/unhide control please suggest. While using the power button is the most obvious way, i cant help but to mention that its not exactly user friendly in term of multitasking.

I haven't tried this out yet. But to keep the extended power menu you will have to add the strings for them. I'm going to update my rom tomorrow with this added to the extended power menu. I'll post it here if the OP wants me to also.

I was thinking more for emulation unless you think they would not stretch using the "fullscreen" modes.
I do watch quite a bit of 4:3 content too, I am assuming this would stretch downward to use the added pixels.
Web browsing will be nice too.
Maybe overthinking it lol.
Hidding the control bar is very usefull and handy together with Buttom Savior and Elixir Widgets. Now I always have my control keys in the right side of the screen wher are more easy and fast to reach.
