[Q] Restore apps between roms - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I've always used mybackup pro to restore the apps on my phone when flashing a new rom. HOwever, after flashing from Darchroid, back to flash 2.3.3, it's giving me problems with No Apps found. I have all my apps on my SD card, and was wondering is there another process without using a program to restore them onto the new rom?
Thanks You

Move to Cognition - how to backup/restore apps?

Guys,
I am currently on stock 2.1 JI6, rooted, and wanting to move to Cognition 2.2 ROM. I have done reading up on the process, and can't seem to get answer to the following question
Once I load congition, what's the best way to reinstall all the apps? Some posts indicated Titanium backup/restore deesn't work properly. Manaul installation of the apps certainly would be a painful process.
Same question when I need to go from Cognition to stock ROM?
Thanks in advance

I have always used Titanium Backup. The only time I have run into issues is when trying to restore system data. Don't mix builds if you restore system data. Just restore apps.
+1 make sure it is only apps you restore. Flash with 100% battery and remove similar and external SD prior to flashing
Captivate
Cog 2.2

You mean remove sd card and Sim card?
And, restore only Apps+data (without system data)? Meaning, I'll have to manully setup email accts, right?

[Q] Issues with app installation in ALL Roms?

I've installed the newest 2.2.1 GOT, and I've tried allmost all the rom's in this forum. I'm constantly faced with an issue with Titanium Backup freezing. My next step was to just install the apps all over again from the market... however, now I'm faced with some apps downloading but cannot install. i.e Angry birds, Time Mobile to name a few.
Obviously this cannot be an issue with all roms, but perhaps my phone or a botched installation... but how can it be a botched installation for ALL roms?
Can anyone provide me with some suggestions where I can solve this issue?
I'm currently using a Telus Milestone with Cyanogenmod.
Hey there, I would advise you to flash the 2.2.1 SBF once again using RSD Lite and then try, dont use the Stock 2.2.1 GOT ROM it hogs battery.... I am using Cronos 1.5.0 and it works lyk a charm......
Problem with titanium bakcup is, it also recovers data i think. You need to restore only APK if you change from different ROM. I use Google backup option, that reinstalls all apps when i log in, simple.. But you could also use MyBackupPro.
For example SMS restore with titanium backup worked fine with 2.2.1 - 2.2.1 changes in ROM, but when i cahnged to 2.1 it couse FC all the time...
Again MyBackupPro saved me, it has a backup tehnique, that is not dependant on version of SMS application.

[Q] HELP Nexus One apps missing!!

hi i recently rooted my phone using the SuperOneClick Method from the unlockr.com. i used nandroid to back up my current ROM, and then proceded to flash a custom ROM. after trying it out the ROM for a few hours i decided to revert back to my original stock ROM. now i am currently back on the stock ROM but everything is WRONG. most of stock apps are missing (browser, text messaging, ect..), the market cannot download apps, basically i can only make/receive calls and get gmail. most of the other apps are gone. i have tried to factory reset the phone, i tried reflashing the HTC FRF83 stock ROM that i was on before and nothing seems to work.
i figured what i did wrong. when the phone was creating the nandroid backup, my SD was running out of space. i dont think the backup was complete and when i flashed the backup the phone is missing key components.
can anybody help me? thanks.
Read Wiki, follow "Unroot / restore your Nexus" guide for FRG83.

[Q] Rom Manager / backup - Restore

Hi Guys,
I got 3 question,
1-) when you do a ROM BACKUP using Rom Manager, does it backup all your apps and their settings? or do i need Titanium backup for that?
2-) I got a samsung captivate that has Lag Fix installed , anyone know if Rom Manager works ok with that, like if i restore from my backed up ROM, does cause any problem having lag fix?
3-) anyone can point me to a tutorial on how to backup / restore using Rom Manager?
Thank you and appreciate your time.
1. it backs up the phone in its current state, meaning all apps/settings
2. it would probably be best to undo the lagfix
3. click on backup current rom or manager rom backups... thats it.

[Q] upgrade to rom ICS (titanium kackup)

hello everybody i have a question,if i would upgrade my darkyrom to a rom based on ics and if i would save all my apps and settings of these apps(for example savegame of emulator or data settings of poweramp),what steps do i have to do? backup of data+app or just backup of apps? or backup of only data? if i restore a backup of DATA in another rom with another firmware does it cause brick? thanks a lot for help
Your mileage may vary:
Restoring apps will probably be ok.
Restoring apps + data is flaky and you risk Forced Closures and other bad behaviours.
Make sure you make a nandroid backup of what you've got now, flash ICS, nandroid back it while it's still pristine, then restore apps via TB slowly and see what'll happen.
Another way is to reinstall the apps via Google Play account, after all, it has a record of everything you got from them. I know it can be a pain, but maybe you'll have a better gain. Clean install - clean app install
I hear you about app settings...try taking screen shots and storing on your microSD card/Dropbox/Google Drive...at least you have something to compare.
TLDR; risky restoring via apps + data via TB when going GB to ICS, sure thing is clean install and reinstall apps from Google Play.
I agree with this totally, nice idea about screen shots too
