[aug 4] Manually update milestone to 2.2... - Motorola Droid and Milestone General

http://gorumors.com/how-to-manually-update-motorola-droid-milestone-to-android-2-2/2753998
has anyone tried this?!
*dont rename the file to UPDATE.ZIP just rename it to UPDATE

definately won't work. the file is the same official OTA for the droid. the writer is probably not aware of the differences between the droid / milestone.

Can we still use this file to update the Milestone to Kernel of Android 2.2 first?
How about this work around?
We use the signed Update file for Droid to update our Milestone's kernel first, then proceed to modify other OS add-on to make this work?
Is this file
h t t p s://android.clients.google.com/updates/voles/signed-voles-FRG01B-from-ESE81.e48e48ff.zip
a signed one that can pass the bootloader verification of Milestone?
Damen

This won't work as the signed update file is for the Droid. The milestone will reject the incorrectly signed file so we'll just have to wait.

You are just the 10,000,000th person worlwide that was wondering that...a very simple google research will explain why this cant happen...ever...

Adobe flash on OTA 2.2 froyo?

I have a few co-workers who ahve the droid and have had their 2.2 update but apparently it does not come with flash player for the browser.
is it possible to just download the apk and install it on their stock devices (ie: not rooted, etc)
I put this file on my rooted 2.2 droid X and flash works
Adobe_Flash_Player_10.1_10.1.92.8.apk
Will I be able to just give them this apk and have them up and running flash? If not, which apk do they need?
It should be in the Market for them if they have FroYo installed, but if they dont, then just download off of the interweb and install.

[Q] Latest sprint update and kernal changes

I am running
Sprint 2.27.651.6 STOCK Deoxed + ODEX w/A2SD 2.7.5_pf4a
and I also flashed
ZenKernel HTC Kernel Overclocked UnderVolted + AnyKernel 8-29-10
And I tried applying the latest sprint update and I ran into issues. It said that the verification process failed. My phone is bricked or anything but how do I apply the update on this ROM?
Thank you
I think I might know why your downloads are classified as corrupt.
If you used Regaw's root method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=694572 towards the bottom there is a section called
"DISABLE OTA UPDATES!!!!"

After doing this, the OTA updates WILL still download, BUT they will not pass signature checks to flash because of the code you just entered.

you just need to undo it by using mv to rename the file otacerts file back to the original name

Did you download it over the air, or did you download the OTA zip from here at xda? If it failed installing OTA then you either got a corrupt DL from sprint or you have deleted of the apps the the update patches (for example if you removed HtcNaviPanel.apk because you don't use it, the update will fail because part of the update is to patch the navipanel.
If it failed trying to flash it from an OTC zip posted on xda, it could be any of the above OR you may need to resign the zip. I had to manually resign the zip with testkeys before RA amon 1.6.2 would let me flash it.

[Q] [REQUEST] .183 flashable file

I am tired of waiting for my update to appear. Does anyone have, or know of a thread where I can get the .183 update and use it with RSD?
im in the same boat
it's in the General forum...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056779
Here ya go: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13328724
This has the 1.8.3 update .sbf file and the newest version of RSDlite. FYI, flashing this .sbf *should* NOT erase your data or put your phone in a factory reset state. Enjoy your faster upload speeds!

In my signature there is a link to a guide. That's describes everything step by step.
The only extra things you have to do is to install the 2.2 devtree and baseband update (they are needed to custom roms).
You can download the devtree update from HERE.
And the baseband update from HERE.

So am I just supposed to download them and then put them on the root of my sd card and do the boot in recovery thing and update it from there?
Not in the root directory.
Put them in /OpenRecovery/updates
That way they will be easily accessible from within recovery.

*Easiest* *FXZ* Root Method for Droid Bionic

Hello all,
I have had one hell of a few days. It started off with finding an easy way to root that DOESN'T require a linux Virtual machine or installation i stumbled upon the easiest way to root the Droid Bionic. Finally got it rooted and CM-11 installed, but then bricked it later on that day. So i had to reflash stock firmware with RSDLite, but couldn't find the JB Firmware file that was required, due to all of the links people posting being dead. I Finally found one and and here it is for anyone having trouble finding the JB Firmware for the Droid Bionic.
The rooting method I found is called saferoot and is literally a one click root(very few keystrokes) and works for JellyBean. Download links below.
The Firmware file is a RAR5 file, so it must be opened with winrar.
RSDLite: http://rsdlite.com/
JB Firmware - cdma_targa_9.8.2O-72_VZW-22_cfc.xml : Dropbox
Safe Root: Dropbox
Happy Rooting!
There is http://www.motofirmware.com/ but it doesn't seem to have the latest firmware file for the Droid Bionic (listed as Targa on there).
One advantage with the virtual machine for rooting is that the user doesn't need to know how to install drivers or fix driver issues on their computer.

The Saferoot File actually comes with the drivers needed if needed.
