I have a few co-workers who ahve the droid and have had their 2.2 update but apparently it does not come with flash player for the browser.
is it possible to just download the apk and install it on their stock devices (ie: not rooted, etc)
I put this file on my rooted 2.2 droid X and flash works
Adobe_Flash_Player_10.1_10.1.92.8.apk
Will I be able to just give them this apk and have them up and running flash? If not, which apk do they need?
It should be in the Market for them if they have FroYo installed, but if they dont, then just download off of the interweb and install.

Yes you need to load the shipping rom passionsomething.imgsomething file. There's a thread on it. It's real easy, download it, rename it to a special bootloader recognized file, reboot, go into bootloader and it AUTOMagically, loads it.
No. If you aren't rooted you can't go back. The stock recovery will not let you downgrade.
Unless... I may have heard about one special leaked rom that let you do that, but I couldn't even begin to point you in the right direction.
o i c okay thanks...
anyoine out there know if i can update my non rooted 2.1 to 2.2 and then if i decide to go back to 2.1 i can??? please help
i have a non rooted n1 with 2.1 update 1 now if i update it with a froyo unroot version can i go back to 2.1 update 1???
Are you running a custom recovery image? If you are then you can make a nandroid backup of 2.1. If you aren't then the only way to go 2.2 > 2.1-update 1 would be to do a factory reset.
I have a friend who didn't get the OTA update to 2.2. They don't want any custom ROM's or to be rooted, they just want their update. Can I just flash FRG01B with RSD Lite without rooting the phone or having to put SPRecovery on it? I think this should be super simple but I've never actually done anyting like this to a non-rooted phone.

Thanks good link.
Is there a way to save all the apps for them before I update their phone to 2.2 or will they just have to download them again?
The update will not delete anything on your phone.

its also avaliable in the android market.
No, not the version that allows editing. Which is why I needed the "old" version.

Download the rom image that contains the version you need.
Use any Odin versions (unzip, untar and mount the rfs [iso-fat fs]) or Clock version (unzip) and copy the apk to your phone and install it.
Hi,
I'v had a look for this in the forum but not found any infomation on this.
Has any one been able to root the new JPY update that take the Samsung galaxy to Froyo 2.2.1?
If you how did you do?
Dude it takes a few seconds to use the search function: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
Also SuperOneClick works just fine.
i rooted my phone using z4root
jje
You have 2 options:
1) SuperOneClick has worked for me on 2.2.1 where others have failed. It's a desktop app you install.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
2) Flash a custom ROM that's already rooted. The advantage to this is it also includes a fix for 3e recovery that will let you flash update.zip files from your phone (required for some apps). There's a few kernels out there that do this and everyone has their preference. I personally use SpeedMod. Check the developers page for instructions, downloadable file, tutorial, etc. This is the option that I personally would do.

or just flash a custom kernel ie chainfire cf kernel.
how can you root using z4 on 2.2.1 when you cant even install the app? after updated to 2.2.1... the z4 root is useless even if its downloaded straight from xda and transfer to the phone.
I've been having problems with the updated version of adobe flash from the market and my original is messed up. If someone could upload the stock apk for me that would be fantastic.
