Hello, i've searched through the forum and actually i dont know an answer to my problem so i have to ask now
I've flashed this one: [ROM Eclair XWJM2] SamSet 1.8 |CUSTOM A2SD FIXLAG| |THEMED| |OPTIMIZED| [01/08/10] with the installation guide given in the thread. But i wanted to get my SGS back to stock. So i used the "One Click Unroot" and now my Phone wont boot. It starts and i see the black screen with GALAXY S GT-I9000 SAMSUNG letters, but nothing more happens. What did i miss?
They are probably incomparibale. Just reflash your phone again. Or try wipe from recovery .
I did that. Started the recovery mode, and wiped whole device, nothing changed. tried to flash the I9000XWJM2 , nothing changed.

Like has been said already just flash it will be fine. Has happened to me before
Just flashed I9000XWJM2 again, nothing changed.
does it matter that i flashed a new kernel and SamSet too? Dont know how to go back to stock.
mhm, just realized that i flash only the .pit thingy. but there is also a code, modem, csc data in the I9000XWJM2.Rar archive. but in odin there are only pda, phone, csc. so what of them is important?
Got it, Code=Modem and PDA=Code flashing right now.
Edit: Yup, its allright now =) damn im stupid -.-*

I just flashed a battery mod on my galaxy s.
But i think i downloaded the Wrong one!!! When i did a reboot, the process 'android.phone' stopped working. Mmmm.. OK.
Tried a factory reset through the 3 button menu. Well now it does not do anything, i can see the boot movie, but then i get a Black screen with an heartbeat on the vibration thingy.
I did not panic and tried to flash an other firmware. Well it did not work. I see the boot movie, but then the screen blacks out and nothing works......
I searched for this, but i didnt get a good answer on how to solve this.
So if anyone is kind enough to help me, and tell me what to do in simple steps.
The same here. I used version D for JP6 & the 2nd method.
I had to reflash the softwear.
Exact same problem with me, had to reflash. Could someone tell the guy who has the battery mod thread?

1st. You need to flash a fresh firmware I suggest a official one so you can download the latest JP6 from kies without knifing the registry. you can get those firmwares from http://www.samfirmware.com/WEBPROTECT-i9000.htm but you need to register first. And here are the intructions how to flash http://samsunggalaxysforums.com/sho...and-and-flash-newer-firmware-to-your-Galaxy-S
2nd. After a succesfull flash go to recoverymode (shut down device, hold: vol-up, home and power)
wipe cache and do a factory reset just incase, and boot your device.
3rd. Install JP6 through Kies
edit:
BTW im a noob who did just this after i messed my phone to a state like mentioned in op So i dont take any responsibility about any damage you do to your phone. I did something like this and now i have official JP6 inside my sgs and its flying
OK guys i updated to a 2.2 Froyo i thought it was laggy and i was like ok im going to downgrade back to stock 2.1 eclair
so what happened was i used odin, used 803 Pit file and the 9000UGJh2 and it formatted but instead of restarting the phone to normal start up it goes into recovery mode saying E: Can't mount. dev block mmcblk0p1
I bought the phone off someone on RedFlagDeals.com -> about 2 weeks ago love this phone hope its not dead
I CAN GO into Download Mode, can go into recovery mode
Phoen just starts up does the Galaxy Logo and goes dark from there on.
Dont have original reciept but i do have original box + all original accesories.
what are my choices here?
Thanks for reading!
UGJH2? I'm not sure, but I don't think that's a rom for the international i9000 galaxy s? Might want to check wherever you downloaded it from.
If you can get into download mode, shouldn't be a problem.. just flash some other rom. You could try look in the android dev subforum, and try out some of the roms there, I'm using Doc's froyo rom, and it has worked pretty well for me
thing is i cant use clockwork recovery mode and im using the Bell Vibrant
In that case, what are you doing in the Galaxy S forum? Go to the Vibrant forum. You obviously downloaded the wrong rom.
Vibrant is not the Galaxy S I9000. Never was, never will be.

The bell galaxy s vibrant is the gt-i9000m. He's on the right forum.
Why can't you use CWM? On recovery 3e?
Flash to some old eclair rom, most (if not all) of those have recovery 2e, which works fine with CWM
Can you please elaborate or point out some links on how to get CWM to recover from the mmcblk0p1 problem?
idk and also im giving up hope .. it hink its dead and useless
use odin to flash UGJH2 on the device (512 pit, I always click repartition-don't know if you need to though). There's guides on here or google if you're unsure how to do it, but it's pretty simple.
This is of course assuming your internal sd isn't corrupt.
EDIT: I see you tried it already but with 803 pit. Try with 512. That error though I think means an internal SD issue (not positive though)

Thanks for this - I just flashed UGJH2 (512) to my I9000M and had the most encouraging results so far - no errors to do with stl1x or mmcblk0px show up in recovery mode. Unfortunately it still gets so far through the boot process, screen goes black and then nothing happens. When I attempt to apply any updates from the external SD it says file not found (even when it's a freshly FAT formatted 1G with only an update.zip on it).
I tried UGJH2 with 803 after that and got the mmcblk error again, so I went back to the 512 and have been trying to get something to work.
Any ideas on what I could do to get my phone working again?
Update.zip won't work from external sd, only internal sd card, so that's one problem.
You could also try the earlier bell eclair, JH8 (i think?) instead of JH2 and see if that gives you a better result

I think the one you mean is JM8 and I tried that one a while ago. I'll give it a go again now just in case though.
Maybe not JM8. That has GT I9000 on the bootscreen instead of GT I9000M and breaks horribly. I can't find JH8 on samfirmware - maybe it has a different name?
Sorry, JG8

same issue
I just got the exact same issue. I installed the screen density app from market and then my phone did not restart properly and kept recycling through the Gt19000 logo. I flashed the roms again through odin but it gets stuck on the black screen after the S logo. If i install a froyo rom it keeps cycling the GT19000 logo
Damn, exact same boot behaviour with JG8 (512 & 803) - coloured logo to black screen.
Is there anything else you can think of that I might try?
Edit: Is it likely I don't actually have the bad SD seeing as how I get none of the stl/mmcblk errors when using UGJH2?
Hey guys, i need some help, its rather urgent.
I was trying to do a lag fix. It said it didn't work, and proceeded to restart.
went to the i9000 screen for 3 second, and just kept restating. can't get into recovery anymore. i got into download mode, and tried to flash back to stock with odin. odin said everything worked, but its still stuck in the same boot screen loop.
Any ideas? Is it the internal SD card? It is a bell i9000.
Thank you in advance.
Most dedinately the infamous corrupt SD issue. You're on 2.2 which is why it loops at the i9000m screen. If you flash 2.1 it will get to the glowing s screen then the screen will go black and it will stay like that.
You need to take it in for repair. There are many threads on this issue and other user experiences with the repair process

well, i was on a 2.2 rom. and i had just reflashed, because i was starting to get a lot of force close errors. So i reflashed. all went well. when i went to do the lag fix, it said, can't find file ( don't remmber what its called, something like bh1h1.. something like that.. which most posts say is SD card failure) then went to reboot. it shows the GALAXY S i9000 screen, then reboots again. i can;t get into recovery anymore. i can get into download mode. i try flashing with odin Odin says everything is flashed and that it worked, giving me no errors, but the phone is still stuck in the same boot loop. Thx for the help.

Just tried it. didn't work. Thx tho.
Hello everybody. First of all, I'm quite new to the whole android world as I got my Galaxy S only three months ago. But I want to take full advantage of it's power so I decided to root it quite quickly. And now I had stumbled upon a problem and had no luck in finding a solution. That's the reason for this thread.
I went through other topics in this forum and it seems no one ever had a problem like this.
I've installed a RomKitchen custom XXJVB rom with Chainfire's kernel (CF Root XW XEE JVB v3.1 CWM3RFS) according to the instructions provided there - I flashed CWM 2.5 with Odin, then updated from CWM Recovery to Gingerbread.
In general, after doing this, everything works fine, the phone got super-fast, no issues there. However, now, during boot the screen displays a TV-like scrambled signal (like white noise... only it isn't white). It's hard to explain so I attached a picture.
It's like the whole screen is covered in coloured pixels. Sometime's a line of pixels moves. A similar thing happens when I try to boot into recovery - it boots but the display is all scrambled. The recovery menu works (when I use the volume buttons the pixels on the screen change their position) but I can't see a thing.
I tried virtually every solution I could think of - I wiped everything, did a factory reset, installed everything again. Still the same. When I revert to stock Froyo 2.2.1 this doen't happen anymore. But I prefer Gingerbread over Froyo.
So, have anyone here seen a similar problem and knows how to fix this? I would be very grateful for any pointers
EDIT: Silly me, guess I haven't searched hard enough :/ It seems I'm missing the new bootloaders.

Yeah, that's it.
Flash JVB stock with bootloader. Load your cooked rom onto internal sd card. Then flash the speedmod kernal in Odin with auto reboot unchecked. Pull the battery, then boot the phone into recovery, and flash your cooked rom.

I am getting this scrambled screen at the beginning of reboot after flash to serendipity VII. My phone will come up fine after the scrambled screen. But I cannot see the cwm page if I selected "recovery". Any help? Is this the bootloader being corrupted? Thx.

Flash this bootloader through odin/heimdall, tick Update Phone Bootloader and click FLASH
http://www.chameleonwebhosting.com/galnetmiui/EZboot-GingerBread-1.0.tar.md5
so today i upgraded to gingerbread 2.3.5 on my samsung captivate or i-897. it was all fine until i started to try the teamhacksung build 16 for ICS. i was trying to install it and somehow my phone locked up on me. everytime i try to boot up my phone it goes to galaxy s and just sits. i can get it into recovery and download but then odin will not pick it up? help?
that rom has a Q and A page. go there to ask questions about it. NOT the DEV PAGE. Q&A.try searching the thread. and reading it.
100% chance your problem has been asked at least 10 times.
i went there and searched im sorry it hasnt been thats why i posted a thing. so stop being so rude and help someone out really.

You need to be in download mode for odin to pick it up. Start odin first then with your phone off, hold in your up/down volume keys and plug in your usb cable.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using xda premium
telling you the proper place to post a question is not being rude. Im trying to help you find other people that have the same rom setup as you. they dont always look at other threads like this. they only care about THEIR ROM. so posting there, they would find your question... here they wont.
and the answer to your very first problem... if the rom install locks up (which it RARELY does) flash again.
**normally it "looks" like it locks up but the user is actually impatient, or the install script doenst program the status bar very well and it looks like its not doing anything although it is.
and first boot after flashing can take upto 10 mintues at boot animation.
ive done all of this plenty of times, ive even read how to create them. and i know you do as well. ive done all the odin i can but it got stuck at the galaxy s boot screen like the black one with white lettering and the i897 tag too. but it wont go past, and now wen i plugged it in it bricked so i have no idea wat to do now and i love this phone to death.

Can't you just flash something from recovery? You probably put some ROM on your sd at some point. And if not, you can do that with USB from recovery
Sent from my CM9 ICS i897 Captivate
Once you didn't get past the boot screen you should have three buttoned to recovery and flashed the from again. It happens quite often when you go to THS ICS or CM7. So if your not truly bricked which you shouldn't be unless you used a Odin with boot loaders then just used Odin and flash speed mod kernel or another kernel that will give you the correct cwm recovery. Then BEFORE trying to reboot flash the ICS ROM, then when it finishes flash it a second time BEFORE REBOOTING, then flash gapps, then reboot.
What happens is that the first time you try to go to cm7 or cm9 it basically flashes the kernel and cwm recovery from I can tell, then the second flash will be able to get you through all the boot up. Plus wait a while without touching it and it will come up. It takes a while on the first ever flash to it.

how can i put it on through recovery? and my usb debugging isnt on my fone just spazzed when i was loading up ics nd now its softbricked.
i actually just unbricked but i am still stuck at the galaxy s sgh-i897 screen thats black and white.
