[Q] WOW! Need Help... Boot Animation is stuck - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

ok so i did the one click root method tonight... so after i flashed clockwork and downloaded the cyanogen mod rc1 it told me to do a back up and reboot phone.. it rebooted and it goes into the boot animation screen.. it does the regular X color of the nexus then turns to the blue x .. after a few blue x's it stops then acts like it resets and goes back to the regular color, then back to the blue one..
it repeats itself over and over again.. been doin it for quite some time now.. like over three hours.. i pulled the battery and tried again, same thing..
im really really concerned about my phone now..
is there anything i can do??
please help me.. thanks

did you do the backup? Did you wipe prior to install? Did you use Rom Manager by any chance?

yes i did a back up.. and yes i used ROM manager... BUT i just now found out where the back up was.. i got thru! im going to try another recovery image and a diff rom..

ok, Amon_Ra is the one I prefer, I used it to flash CM6 RC2 only 4 hours ago.
-Cheers, good luck

ok thank you very much! is that image in rom manager?
can you also tell me what you did please... step by step..? i never done this b4 lol

sure, its very fresh (im probably only 24 hours ahead of you since my first root)
This should work, If anyone would like to double check this please feel free, I would hate to give someone bad info to go on.
so after clockwork gave me some issue to say the least i decided to go with Amon_Ra.
1)Shutdown
2)press power button and trackball at the same time
3)use vol-up and vol-down select "bootloader" using power button to select
4)then select "Recovery"
5)should now say clockwork on the bottom(trackball for movement and select in this menu) If it does not say clockwork or you see a exclamation mark in a triangle, you gave bigger problems then i can help you with
6)select wipe
7)select data, cache, and dalvik-cache to wipe So long as you only select those three options your sd card will remain ok and untouched
8)once done go back to main clockwork menu
9)select backup/resotore (or something similar) and hit restore nandroid(or similar)
10) if it asks you to pick which backup select the right one (you should only have one)
11)once done (and you get no errors) go back to clockwork menu and hit reboot, it should boot into your previous rom before you tried CM.
While here back in the working rom, make sure the end of your baseband version ends with "4.06.00.12_7" (menu > settings >about phone)
First go to the bottom of rom manager and hit "Flash Alernate Recovery" It should say RA Recovery
Once its done hit it again just to make sure it flashed (it should immediatly give you a comfirmation)
Then download CM6 RC2 (rom manager wont let you since it doesnt have clockwork anymore) go here and download the latest verions of CM and the google addon. Just download them to the sdcard.
Then reboot the phone in recovery:
1)Shutdown
2)press power button and trackball at the same time
3)use vol-up and vol-down select "bootloader" using power button to select
4)then select "Recovery"
5)should then say Amon_Ra on the bottom (if it does not or instead goes to exclimation triangle, boot back into regular and try flashing Amon_Ra again) (within this menu the trackball is now used to select and move through the menu)
6)since your current version is not working we wont backup, but normally you will select backup and do a nandroid backup
7) Instead of backing up go to wipe
8) wipe the data, cache, and dalvik cache. So long as you only select those three options your sd card will remain ok and untouched
9)go back (should be vol-down, should say at the top)
10) go to flash from sdcard
11)select the CM6 zip first (should ask for confirmation)
12)once done and no errors flash the google apps zip (also ask for confirmation)
13)once done go back to Amon_Ra main menu, and click reboot now
14)Enjoy CM

omg thanks!... question, do i download the radio as well?

That's why you need to see if your baseband number ended with "4.06.00.12_7" , if your baseband does not end with that number, then you will have to update your radio, something i have not done yet, and because of this I ask that if your baseband does not end with that number that you do not follow the rest of the steps. The steps leading up to you checking the baseband will reflash you back to how you were before trying to flash CM so you will have a working phone. However if your baseband is that number, ("4.06.00.12_7" ) then you will not have to do anything to the radio and you can continue the steps ignoring the radio altogether.
Also would any person more knowledgeable then I like to check my previous post to make sure it looks ok before this person does anything?

lol i did it, dont worry... it worked thanks man

help! g1 stuck at loading screen

hey guys,
My g1 is stuck at the TMOBILE g1 screen.
i loaded this theme.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=541841
and it worked great but then i saw this theme and liked it better
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=520629
so i loaded it just like i loaded the first one. but it got stuck at the Tmobile g1 screen. so i tried to re load the other theme and its doing the same thing. i tried wiping by booting into Home+power button. but its still doing the same thing. can anyone help me out?? thanks.
What rom are you running? The first is for CM and the second one won't work on the newer CM roms. What you will prolly need to do is reflash the rom you want then make sure the theme you are flashing will work with the rom.

Uhm No, He said it worked fine with the first theme, for a cyan rom. His SPL has zilch to do with this unless it is a Hero rom/theme. But it is not, it is a theme for a older cyan rom. Repartition is the word i think you meant to use, and what is a "htc rom"? Don't get someone confused with bad advice please, we have enough problems in the Dream forums already.
And to help the OP, see what rom the theme you want to use is made for. And if is just the theme or the entire rom, as some themes are. If it is a small size like 10-20mb then it is just the theme in which case you want to get the rom it is made for and flash it (step 1 get it onto your sd and rename it update.zip, go into recovery and wipe, then flash the update.zip, reboot and go through the initial setup step get the theme onto your sd and rename it update.zip DONT WIPE!!! then flash update.zip). If it is the full rom+theme then you only need to go through step 1. Hope this helps with your troubles.
I looked this problem up on google and it brought me to this page. I am running CyanogenMod and tried to use this theme (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=541242). Now I am stuck at the "T-Mobile G1" loading screen. I tried taking out the battery. Doing a "wipe data/factory reset" and restoring the latest backup. Nada. I'm very frustrated. What can I do? (Also big thanks to everyone in this community who help make this phone so great)

What version of CyanogenMod are you running? You should make sure you have the newest which is 4.0.3.1, so what you need to do is wipe, flash cyanmod 4.0.3.1, make sure you download the correct version of that theme here is the link and flash it. Just make sure you DO NOT wipe before flashing the theme. You should be all set after. PM me if you need more help.
How many people are going to have to ask you lol...? We want to help but you gotta tell us what CM version you have.

Flashing is changing the rom. You can find roms in the android development forum. I would suggest you use cyanogen mod 4.0.4 and then goto the themes and wallpapers forum and find one that works with it.
First thing you need to do is download the cyanogen mod 4.0.4 rom from android development forum. Put it on your sd card (if you cant boot up your g1 then goto recovery (home+power) and then goto console, hit enter, then type ums_enable and hit enter then you can plug it into your computer and load the cyanogen 4.0.4, rename it to update then on your phone type ums_disable and hit enter) then unplug your phone and type recovery and hit enter. Now hit wipe and after its done hit apply update, when its done reboot your phone. It will take 5-10 mins to boot up and after you go the the initial setup you can plug it into your computer and put the theme you choose on the sd card, delete the cyanogen mod (update.zip) then rename the theme to update and reboot your phone into recovery, hit apply update and after its done reboot your phone and it will take awhile again. If you do it all right your theme will be applied and you will be all good.
Ha this is going to sound funny but no one has mentioned it yet and I know there are some impatient people out there.
Are you waiting at the G1 screen for at least 15 mins? After a flash it can take upto 15 mins on the G1 screen to boot.

Restore from the nandroid I'm SURE you made before you started messing with things.
If you for some reason didn't do a nandroid backup then wipe data/factory, dalvik cache, and SD:Ext if you have apps2sd installed.
my dumbass didnt do the nandroid :/
i did this already i restarted phone and that gay ass Nexus X with the colors still comes on and stays like that sometimes the colors would freeze but it would fix itself and keep moving
im totally F'd..
Easy fix - you will start from scratch (like a brand new phone)
- Go to http://www.geekfor.me
- Download the 1.56.xxxx RUU onto your PC (not Mac)
- Double click RUU file and let it extract 9you may have to click 'OK' or 'Extract All' - It will create a folder of stuff - dont click anything yet...
- Power off your phone (remove battery and put back in if needed) and hold volume-up while it boots. You should see a white screen with text on it.
- Plug it in to your PC now via USB
- Back in that folder you just extracted double click the HTC logo icon (i forget the name) to start the process. It'll flash your phone to stock.

BEFORE you try that...because it has problems for some people:
Did you:
A. Wipe data/factory reset
AND
B. Wipe Dalvik-Cache?
Alright cool thanks ill try this..
if you guys dont know what the hell im talking about i can probably hook up this webcam i have and make a video lol
Yes i did.
Well lame..it says my battery is not charged up past 30 percent..ima have it charge for a little bit and see what will happen
wish me luck!
Good luck. I've RUU'd 3 times without issue and it was dead simple.
some people have problems with ruu and some don't. I would get back to recovery, enable sd card (forgot which option it is), and put a downloaded ROM onto the sdcard. wipe everything and then flash the ROM. sounds like you might have tried flashing something for 2.1 if you have 1.5 or the otherway around. Flashing the ROM should work.

Oh yeah... here it is

Very first thing you should do is.. Turn off phone.
Hold down home + power button.. Scroll down to backup/restore.
Then do a nano backup... Not the one with ext.
Then boot your phone back up and open up your sdcard on your comp and go to nandroid/file inside it/ then copy that file to your computer. Always keep it safe.

I hope you learned your lesson and will do backups.
Another lesson you do not want to learn the hard way is what ROMs you can put on your phone. In case you didn't I read what I wrote in your other thread I will restate... BE CAREFUL WHAT ROMS YOU PUT ON YOUR PHONE!!! There are GSM ROMs which will completely fry your phone and you will not be able to recover. Also, if you put any other phone model ROM on your phone it will be toast.

I didn't even realize that other thread was from him too. I also told him to nandroid and not to download anything for gsm.
Don't start a thread and not read everything posted in it, especially when you are asking for help.
I did my Rooting the long way through adb, so I don't know how Fresh Kitchen works on that end, but maybe he should say right after rooting to do a nandroid. I have my first nandroid on one of my backup sd cards, my computer, and on my current sd card. I'll be damned if I delete all 3.

some quick help please di11i's 6.0

i just flashed back to stock using odin. rooted the phone. installed the clockwork then i went into clockwork and went to install a new rom. i selected di11i's 6.0 rom and its says the following:
installing: SDCARD:dill1s6.0NO_OC.zip
finding update package...
and thats it. what do i do now before it went all the way through and then went back and rebooted and it started up. its like it hung on that part and it wont do anything. i would say its been at that screen for 5-10 minutes and now im worried. please someone give me a little info.
i didnt have enough post to post in the di11i's thread or i would have
thanks
I usually download the rom and place it in the sdcard root and reboot to recovery and install from sdcard.
thats what i did and i selected it in the recovery and went to install and it started but it stopped on the finding update package and i dont know what to do. can i take out the battery and it will reboot fine? i dont know i dont want to mess it up lol
use your key combo to get into recovery, or type "adb reboot recovery" if you have android sdk installed. then flash the zip again.

First of all, pls pull out battery and let us know the build number, if its 10.09 and earlier or one of the 10.10 and later models.
Second, do u have access to recovery console/download mode?
Recovery: Press and hold the two volume buttons, and power at the same time. When the phone restarts and it as at AT&T logo, release power (only). It should show u a recovery console.
Download: Turn off the phone. Hold the volume down, and plug the phone to computer. It should a yellow triangle and an android guy with a spade.
Following instructions are for 10.09 or earlier build phones only.
1. Get into download mode
2. Use the 1-click odin to flash stock
3. Copy the update.zip attached to this post to ur sdcard root.
4. Copy dilli's 6.0 NO OC zip to ur sd card (select no overclock kernel to be on the safe side in case ur phone does not support speeds over 1200)
5. Get the phone into recovery mode (as per instructions above)
6. Select "reinstall packages". U wud need to do this twice.
7. Now ur recovery console would come in green. Select "install zip from SD card", and then "choose zip from SD card", and then browse to the dilli's 6.0 zip file and select it.
Sit back having a cup of coffee, and the phone do its work.
Please let us know if u run into any issues.
thank you guys so much for the help i really appreciate it. i pulled the battery out and put it back in and went back into recovery. i then went to reinstall packages and went into clockwork. then i tried installing it again and it went through this time. i now have rebooted the phone and it is starting up now as i type this. also my phone is the 10.09

Based on ur number of posts, I presume u r new to this.
1. I would recommend u flash stock when moving between ROMs. This is not mandatory, but is recommended.
2. Do NOT use TiBu (titanium backup) to backup or restore any SYSTEM data. User apps and data is fine.

yes i am new to this lol. i was running cognition 3.02 and then just flashed 3.04 over the 3.02. but this time since i was flashing to a totally different rom i went back to stock using odin. and thanks for the tip on ONLY installing user apps and data.
i recommend you build a jig yourself or buy it online:

it is a very useful tool and will get you into download mode when things mess up. if you will flash / customize your rom in the future, you may need one ...
ya i have another cord i could cut and make one myself. lol this may be stupid but after i am flashed now and its working fine i installed titanium back up pro but its not showing up anywhere in my phone to use it. lol i am a phone noob just tryin to learn ahaha. thanks everybody
edit: i got it now lmao

[TUTORIAL] Fool-proof method to install latest CM7/MIUI without losing Baseband/IMEI

Lets get this out of the way first. I am not responsible if you screw up your phone, but you are probably here because you already screwed up your phone. I have now been through this several times over the last few days. Some will say this process is overkill, but there is no denying that it always works, so please refrain from stating the obvious.
If you have installed or updated CM7/MIUI and lost your baseband, IMEI, or both, this should help you. Due to the amount of people currently having this problem, I would recommend this be stickied at least temporarily until things are straightened out, so people can find it easily.
For Windows only, I do not have a Mac.
Step 1 - Read the entire post and understand everything involved before you attempt this. This is a long ride, probably 30-40 minutes from start to end. This is not for new people, and will assume you have a certain amount of knowledge because you attempted to flash CM7/MIUI.
DO NOT SKIP OR SHORTCUT ANY STEP IN THIS PROCESS, UNLESS I SPECIFICALLY STATED YOU MET THE CRITERIA TO DO SO. DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT TRYING THIS UNLESS YOU CAN REACH DOWNLOAD MODE AND RECOVERY USING BUTTONS WITH THE PHONE OFF!
Step 2 - Gather what you need...
1 - The AIO Vibrant Toolbox : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=954509
Install according to directions in the post. Donate to this guy. He spent alot of time making this easy for you to do.
2 - The old CM7 install files : http://www.mediafire.com/?gn4qoonoe3cjyp6
Unzip to a location that is easy to get to.
3 - The new version of CM7/MIUI you want to install, from the thread of your choice. Donate to the developer you are using, they spend alot of their free time making your phone better. They don't get paid for it, and they dont charge you for it.
4 - Your phone, with a full battery.
Step 3 - Odin to JFD and install Clockwork 2.x
1 - Fire up the AIO Toolbox. Do not connect your phone yet, but power it down and pull your battery. See that sticker under it that says IMEI? Write it down! You will be referencing it a few times throughout the process. Start Odin and select your pit and pda files, they should automatically come up if you are using the toolbox. Hold down your volume up and down buttons, and insert your USB cable, then insert your battery. You should go to download mode, and see Odin connect. Hit start and let it fly. Once it reboots, unplug your phone. Go to settings/about phone and you should have a JFD baseband. Hit status, and check your IMEI. See how it matches the one you wrote down? Yay! Move on to the next item. If it does not, you have some reading to do because you really screwed something up, and it is beyond my power to help you...
2 - Mount phone and put the following files on the root of the sd card:
vibrant-efsbackup.zip (if you already have a backup/efs folder on your sd card you do not need this)
cm7-vibrant-initial-20110224.zip
The zip file of the new CM7/MIUI rom you want to flash.
3 - Download ROM Manager and install clockwork recovery 2.x (if you already have the update.zip on your sd card, which you should, you can also skip this) and power down your phone.
4 - Boot into recovery using the 3 button method (holding volume up and down and power, releasing power when the word VIbrant appears on your screen), hit reinstall packages, you may have to hit it twice to get to clockwork recovery. Choose to install zip from sd card, and select vibrant-efsbackup.zip. Let it do its thing. Then select reboot, and when it does, check your sd card for a backup/efs folder. Got it? Good. Power down the phone. (Obviously, if you already have the efs backup completed, you could have skipped this step.)
Step 4 - Install Clockwork 3.x and Old CM7
1 - Fire up the AIO Toolbox. Do not connect your phone yet, but pull your battery. Start Odin and hit the pda button, select the file cm7-vibrant-initial-kernel.tar from the CM7 package you unzipped (Remember, in a place that is easy to find). THIS IS IMPORTANT - UNCHECK AUTO REBOOT!!! Hold down your volume up and down buttons, and insert your USB cable, then insert your battery. You should enter download mode, and see Odin connect. Hit start and let it fly. Once it is finished, pull the usb cable. With the download mode screen still on your phone, boot into recovery using the 3 button method. You should now be in clockwork recovery 3.x. Move on to the next item! If you did not get in, you can try to pull your battery, replace it and boot into recovery from there. If you still can't get there, you get to go where the people who do not properly follow instructions go... back to Step 1.
2 - In clockwork 3.x, choose factory reset, and let it do it's thing. Then go to mounts and storage, and format system, data, and cache. Choose install zip from sd card and choose cm7-vibrant-initial -20110224.zip. As it is installing, one of the last things you see should be "restoring efs". Hit reboot when finished, and boot into CM7. When it boots, make sure you toggle the lockscreen a couple times so it connects to service. Check baseband and IMEI again. Baseband should have changed to KB1. IMEI still the same right? Awesome! Power down the phone, move to the next step! It's not? You my friend, get to meet all your other friends back at Step 1.
Step 5 - Installing what you really want...
1 - Boot into recovery using the 3 button combo. Do a factory reset, wipe cache partition, go to advanced and wipe Dalvik cache. Choose install zip from sd card, and pick that shiny new version of CM7/MIUI you picked out. You are almost there. Flash it! Reboot, and when it comes back up, take note of what time it is and DO NOT TOUCH THE PHONE FOR 15 MINUTES. You have no idea the amount of bugs this squashes. After that, check the baseband, it will be KB1 unless the rom you just flashed changed it. Check the IMEI, even though you already know it is right anyway. If it is not, do i have to say it again? You know where you are going...
2 - Destroy the paper you wrote your IMEI on, you would not want that info in the wrong hands...
3 - Enjoy your new rom
FAQ:
Q: I did everything you said, and it did not work!
A: You either skipped a step, or did not stop at the point I told you you were screwed.
Q: No, seriously, I did everything you said!
A: Seriously, I have done this 5 times in the past 3 days, and it worked every time.
Q: I installed CM7 nightly #9,10,or 11 with this method, and I have no sound on calls. What gives?
A: These builds have known issues with in call audio. Flash CM7.1
Q: Once I am on CM7/MIUI, do I have to do this every time or can I update normally?
A: Once you are on CM7 or MIUI with the proper IMEI and a good baseband, you should be able to update via the rom posting instructions. If you decided to switch from CM7 to MIUI or vice versa, I would go back to this process to get your initial installation.
Q: I installed CM7.1 and then tried to go to MIUI, and lost everything again, what happened?
A: There are changes betweeen CM7 to 7.1 that have made this difficult due to compatability issues, which is why I recommend doing this process again if you want to switch between the two.
Q: I thought there was an easier way to do this, why so many steps?
Read the first paragraph of the post, but I guess that is also asking too much...
Great post. Thanks for the info...
Pretty sure you can install the latest CM7 just via clockwork2.
i thought the baseband loss was due to kernel compatibility with the newer versions of CM7/Miui? Good post nonetheless hope it helps people out.

Lets get this out of the way first. I am not responsible if you screw up your phone, but you are probably here because you already screwed up your phone. I have now been through this several times over the last few days. Some will say this process is overkill, but there is no denying that it always works, so please refrain from stating the obvious.
That is the first paragraph of my post. And it has already been stated that people are losing IMEI/Baseband anyway. This always works, period. Thanks for the input.
I did the steps properly and now my phone only boots to recovery...
yup i do this every time - the last few attempts with the quick two file flash method is causing all sorts of crap to go wrong on my phone even from a fresh odin - i am pdy05 and i approve this message
-screen tearing
-wifi drop
-incorrect model
-no cell connection etc....

Exactly why I went back to doing this. My last couple quick flash installs have been a disaster.

Good info... subscribed for future reference. Any idea what is calling baseband/imei corruption; and why it is sporadic?

I've done this twice now, and yet again I end up in a situation where my phone will only boot to Clockwork Recovery.
If it helps, Clockword always says E:no misc partition at the bottom. Never seen that before with all of my flashing endeavors.

The e: thing means nothing, it is a old CM7 thing. At exactly what point are you getting stuck booting into recovery?
Is this your first time flashing CM7/MIUI?

Great tut
I also posted something on this topic here:

May help people that have already screwed up their EFS.

Nope, I was previously running CM7.1. I said **** it and installed 7.1 from CWM2 and it worked perfectly. IMEI is correct and everything.
It seemed to **** up when ODINing the initial kernel.

Glad it worked out for you anyway, may have been a bad download. Those are the exact files I use to do it... and I am on CM7.1 using this method after losing my IMEI trying to go from clockwork 2...
Was it when you tried to boot into clockwork 3 for the first time, or after you wiped and flashed the initial rom?

Completely clueless, but that is why I put this up, so after I had a definite way to fix mine, others could fix theirs. The problem itself seems to be more with MIUI than CM7, but it is happening with both. I would not be surprised if it happened to more people who have simply not checked their IMEI, and are working off a generic one because they have service.
Curious what happens if the imei is in the wrong hands and stolen
- excuse my grammar im using swype-
My external sd card is not recognized after successfully booting MIUI. This has been bother me for days now... I see sd card icon in the status bar and it says "sd card safe to remove" I tried mounting/unmounting/formating - I only see the main partition when i plug usb cable to windows. EMMC folder is empty as well.
Does anyone else experience this?!
what i dont understand is Rom manager premium made it so easy a baby could install it! download rom off rom manager premium CM7 nightlies make sure u flash clockwork recovery vibrant mtd and 3x and not 2x! install download and wait......way too easy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Make sure u wipe data, wipe dalvik and backup rom when it asks its pretty simple.
I've got a better way, install Rom manager, select rom, click flash. TADA!!!!

How long should darky's rom take to apply?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'm trying to install Darky's 9.5 and was following this guide: darky.ficeto[dot]com/community/index.php?threads/guide-installing-darkys-rom-on-2-2-2-2-1-i9000-i9000m-only.1041/ (replace [dot] with a ".")
After step 7, it's been on the "Installing update" screen in recovery mode for the past 25 minutes. Is this normal or did I screw up? What should I do?
Is it done yet??
You mean this bit...
7. Then using the volume keys to navigate and the Power button to select, do the following:
Select 'wipe data/factory reset', and then select 'Yes'. Important! This can take upto 2 minutes, so don't panic.
Select ‘Install zip from sdcard’.
Then select ‘choose zip from sdcard’.
Now navigate to the ROM zip, then select it.
Then choose ‘Yes’.
It can take a while, but usually it gets pass that screen, and gets too the boot bit. Can you give any more specific details, like what it says on your screen...
Btw have you triple checked that you didi everything it said?? You were on froyo before hand right?

Yes I was on Froyo, and I clicked install zip file and selected darkysrom. It then said installing update and was stuck on that for over 40 minutes until I held the power button and it restarted onto the stock froyo.
Just to confirm, we can use the Darkyrom tool from the market right? I noticed the configurator they were talking about isn't available anymore. I probably sound a noob, sorry
Noob! Don't worry about that, I still consider myself a noob...
You want the darkyrom tool by the ficeto
Atleast nothing else went wrong and your back to stock... Is there any particular reason you dont want the latest darky rom?
Anyway just read the process again and make sure you follow it to the letter. If you run into any problems then just come back here and we'll help you best we can.
This link is for 10.2RE and then 10.2EE ontop which is essentially the same thing but comes with all the apps preinstalled if you choose. You can also use the darkyrom tools to configure what you want before you flash. If you miss anything go to the last tab and install it from there. If you want the very latest stable, after flashing 10.2 RE (RE means through odin, EE means zip file flash through the phone) just flash from the link below (sig). The links have instructions in them.
Hi, I have searched the forum for the answer to this question but couldn't find anything definitive so please don't yell!
I am installing Darkyrom, but am a novice when it comes to Android Devices. I have a lot of experience working with Linux/Windows desktops and servers though so you don't have to speak too slowly.
The PIT portion of the Resurrection flash has taken around 15 minutes so far, when I previously flashed a new kernel (a lot smaller, I'll admit) it did not take this long. As the total file size is ~300 mb for this ROM I wouldn't have expected it to take this long, although repartitioning could potentially take a while I guess.
My question is - how long should I expect the PIT/repartition portion take? Has it fuxxd itself somehow?
Well If you have left it i guess over an hour now and it still hasn't completed then your going to have to start again.
Unplug it, this should only put you into soft brick which means you get a phone a triangle and a computer (or without the triangle) all linked by a line when you try turn on the phone.
Go back into download mode (vol down, home, power) and restart. Make sure all kies processes are not running...
Yeah it was definitely rooted. Disconnected and got the soft brick you mentioned.
Rebooted my computer and killed the kies process.
Went through it all again, worked fine this time, just finishing up now. Stumped as to what happened. I am using Odin 1.85 but I wouldn't have thought that would make a difference (walkthrough lists 1.3 but is rather dated so thought it was just a lack of updating).
Thanks for your help
EDIT: By rooted I mean broken sorry. Local slang.
