ok so i did the one click root method tonight... so after i flashed clockwork and downloaded the cyanogen mod rc1 it told me to do a back up and reboot phone.. it rebooted and it goes into the boot animation screen.. it does the regular X color of the nexus then turns to the blue x .. after a few blue x's it stops then acts like it resets and goes back to the regular color, then back to the blue one..
it repeats itself over and over again.. been doin it for quite some time now.. like over three hours.. i pulled the battery and tried again, same thing..
im really really concerned about my phone now..
is there anything i can do??
please help me.. thanks
did you do the backup? Did you wipe prior to install? Did you use Rom Manager by any chance?
yes i did a back up.. and yes i used ROM manager... BUT i just now found out where the back up was.. i got thru! im going to try another recovery image and a diff rom..
ok, Amon_Ra is the one I prefer, I used it to flash CM6 RC2 only 4 hours ago.
-Cheers, good luck
ok thank you very much! is that image in rom manager?
can you also tell me what you did please... step by step..? i never done this b4 lol
sure, its very fresh (im probably only 24 hours ahead of you since my first root)
This should work, If anyone would like to double check this please feel free, I would hate to give someone bad info to go on.
so after clockwork gave me some issue to say the least i decided to go with Amon_Ra.
1)Shutdown
2)press power button and trackball at the same time
3)use vol-up and vol-down select "bootloader" using power button to select
4)then select "Recovery"
5)should now say clockwork on the bottom(trackball for movement and select in this menu) If it does not say clockwork or you see a exclamation mark in a triangle, you gave bigger problems then i can help you with
6)select wipe
7)select data, cache, and dalvik-cache to wipe So long as you only select those three options your sd card will remain ok and untouched
8)once done go back to main clockwork menu
9)select backup/resotore (or something similar) and hit restore nandroid(or similar)
10) if it asks you to pick which backup select the right one (you should only have one)
11)once done (and you get no errors) go back to clockwork menu and hit reboot, it should boot into your previous rom before you tried CM.
While here back in the working rom, make sure the end of your baseband version ends with "4.06.00.12_7" (menu > settings >about phone)
First go to the bottom of rom manager and hit "Flash Alernate Recovery" It should say RA Recovery
Once its done hit it again just to make sure it flashed (it should immediatly give you a comfirmation)
Then download CM6 RC2 (rom manager wont let you since it doesnt have clockwork anymore) go here and download the latest verions of CM and the google addon. Just download them to the sdcard.
Then reboot the phone in recovery:
1)Shutdown
2)press power button and trackball at the same time
3)use vol-up and vol-down select "bootloader" using power button to select
4)then select "Recovery"
5)should then say Amon_Ra on the bottom (if it does not or instead goes to exclimation triangle, boot back into regular and try flashing Amon_Ra again) (within this menu the trackball is now used to select and move through the menu)
6)since your current version is not working we wont backup, but normally you will select backup and do a nandroid backup
7) Instead of backing up go to wipe
8) wipe the data, cache, and dalvik cache. So long as you only select those three options your sd card will remain ok and untouched
9)go back (should be vol-down, should say at the top)
10) go to flash from sdcard
11)select the CM6 zip first (should ask for confirmation)
12)once done and no errors flash the google apps zip (also ask for confirmation)
13)once done go back to Amon_Ra main menu, and click reboot now
14)Enjoy CM
omg thanks!... question, do i download the radio as well?

That's why you need to see if your baseband number ended with "4.06.00.12_7" , if your baseband does not end with that number, then you will have to update your radio, something i have not done yet, and because of this I ask that if your baseband does not end with that number that you do not follow the rest of the steps. The steps leading up to you checking the baseband will reflash you back to how you were before trying to flash CM so you will have a working phone. However if your baseband is that number, ("4.06.00.12_7" ) then you will not have to do anything to the radio and you can continue the steps ignoring the radio altogether.
Also would any person more knowledgeable then I like to check my previous post to make sure it looks ok before this person does anything?
lol i did it, dont worry... it worked thanks man

sorry, i have no idea to either of those questions. Im new to rooting and custom roms so i havent messed with updating yet.
oh ok.. well thanks again for last night, well more like the early mornin.. lol i appreciate it
no worries
TL;DR - Stuck in boot loop, can't enter recovery mode, but can enter download mode. Odin says it is successful, but the phone is still in the boot loop.
I've had Cognition 2.3 for a few months now and decided to update to Cognition 4.3. I used the AIO toolbox 2.5 to Odin one-click back to stock, rooted, and flashed to 4.3. Everything went well and I restored all my apps with Titanium and loaded some music.
At some point later the screen was completely blank and the only way I could get any response out of it was to hold the volume buttons and power buttons. Instead of going into recovery, though, it would boot to the Cognition boot screen and hang indefinitely.
I was able to get it into download mode by removing the sim and battery and holding the volume buttons while plugging it into USB and replacing the battery. I ran Odin one-click again, it said it was successful, but the phone was stuck in either a battery screen or AT&T screen boot loop (depending on whether or not it was plugged into USB).
I've tried using regular Odin with both the ROM included with AIO 2.5 (JF6*) and JH2 (from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10056254&postcount=36) to no avail. Every time Odin shows that it is successful, but it always ends up in a boot loop with no ability to enter recovery mode.
What can I do? Will getting a jig help me in any way?
*Edited for correct ROM
Use the normal ODIN (v1.7 or v1.8), a full stock JF6 ROM and PIT file. Make sure "repartition" is selected and if possible, do a master clear with ODIN first (though shouldn't be critical.........then start over with Cog 4.3 if that's your ROM of choice (good choice by the way).
I tried the JF6 ROM again with the same results (using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=818439#8802897). It looks like AIO 2.5 used this ROM all along.
I can't master clear because I can't boot past the AT&T screen. The only way for me to get Odin (or Windows for that matter) to recognize the phone is by putting it in download mode. From what I understand you don't master clear from download mode.

Are you using the PIT file and selecting repartition?
When I get home today, I will upload the ROM and PIT that I use to flash to stock and see if that helps but you do need to use the PIT and repartion which will only help if you have a FULL copy of JF6 that reloads the bootloaders.
Just out of curiosity, what is your build number?
I am using the PIT and selecting repartition. I've done this every time I've tried Odin (besides when using one-click of course) Is the PDA.tar listed in that link not a full copy of JF6?
My build number is 1008.
May sound crazy, but you could try using a different computer. I ran into a lot of problems using odin on my pc. Switched to laptop (more ram and windows 7 64 bit ) with great success. Also make sure you have the right drivers. Your build# should allow you to use odin one click.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I've actually already tried it from both my PC (Windows 7 x64, 4 GB ram) and my laptop (Windows Vista x86, 2 GB ram). In both cases I used the drivers in the AIO toolbox 2.5 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944418)
Are those the correct ones? If not, could you point me to a resource with the latest drivers? There are quite a few versions floating around and I'm not sure which ones I should be using.
Any other suggestions?
Those should be the correct drivers
Also, make sure odin is completely open before connecting your phone.
That'd all I can think of.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I definitely did that.
Since I'm able to get into download mode, I should be able to un-brick it right? I can't figure out why Odin says it's successful but I still can't boot.
Does anyone else have any ideas?
You may have to give it a few minutes or so as I am uploading now but the link for the PDA and PIT is:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/24576569/ATT%20ROM%202.1.rar
Try using this version of ODIN:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/24576569/Odin3%20v1.7.rar
Hope this helps otherwise I am out of ideas except flashing a kernel with a recovery included through ODIN, going into the recovery and formatting and wiping absolutely everything and then reflashing JF6. But try the files I linked first.
Good luck.
It's been 30 minutes and the ROM link still isn't up. Is it working?
Also, I'd like to change what I said slightly. When using regular Odin 1.81 it says PASS when it's finished. When using Odin one-click it gets to the point of cache.rfs and then says removed. The box turns blue and says Reset. Meanwhile, the phone is busy rebooting indefinitely on the battery screen.
I'll try your ROM and Odin version as soon as the link works. Also, do you have a ROM with built in recovery that you would suggest? Thanks!

Drop box seems to be running slow. So the JF6 that I am uploading may take a bit. The version of ODIN that You are running should be fine.
Try this Kernel. It's not a complete ROM just the kernel. If it works, you will have to flash a ROM too. Cognition is a good start. You can find it in the Dev section and actually, even if it's not the recommended way of flashing, I moght try flashing a custom ROM anyway just to rule out ODIN and your phone. If you can successfully flash a custom ROM then it's probably the version of JF6 that you are using.
Anyway, let's start with the kernel first:
Onix by existz:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=930679
make sure you download 2.0.3 "tar" file for ODIN
you know how to get into recovery after you flash right? From powered off, hold the up and down volume buttons and then power all at the same time for about 5 second......
Ok, so there seems to be some progress. I flashed the kernel and the phone rebooted to what I'm assuming is the Onix splash screen and hangs. The power button won't turn the phone off, but at least the softkeys do seem to respond, even if they don't do anything.
Odin now recognizes the phone in both download mode and at the splash screen. Although, to reach download mode I now have to take the battery out, whereas I did not have to before.
I'm still unable to enter recovery. The only way to get any response out of the phone at the splash screen is to hold both volumes and the power button, but the phone just reboots back to the splash. It also does this when attempting to enter recovery from a power off state.

The three button combo should work to reset the phone when it's stuck as well as getting into recovery. It sounds like you aren't holding the buttons for long enough. If the phone is frozen, you have to hold the button combo for quite a while to get the phone to reset. Weh trying to get into recovery, push both volume buttons and then hold down the power button and don't let go till yoiu get past the AT&T screen.
If that still doesn't work, then try and load up the ROM and see if at least you can get a working phone back in the meantime. Like I said, I recommend Cog 4.3 but serendipity is a good choice too.
Awesome. I must have been holding the buttons for half a second too little. Now I can get into the Onix Recovery, but I'm getting:
"E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0) (No such file or directory)"
when trying to mount the SD card.
Searching around I've found these two threads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=563298
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=792708
but I'm not exactly sure what to do with the information. I don't particularly want to go guessing at what to do next and ruin my progress. Could you give me a little guidance on what steps to take next?
From "adb shell mount /sdcard" I'm getting:
mount: can't find /sdcard in /etc/fstab

OK, so I've never had to mount SD from those options so not too familiar with this problem but, i am going to guess that we shouldn't have to play with this right now. Onix will let you install a zip from your external SD, so i recomend finding a recovery flashable ROM (almost all custom ROMs come this way....it'll be a ZIP file) Again I recomend using Cog 4.3 or serendipity (both of these may change your kernel but it's ok because they will both have a custom recovery).
Follow these steps:
1. Remove your external SD and insert it into your computer.
2. Remove any files you want to keep and place them somewhere on your computer for future recovery (Titanium backups, music, pics, etc....)
3. Format your sd (FAT32 should be default)
4. Download the ROM of your choice, copy it to the root of your external SD using your computer
5. Replace the SD into your phone power up into recovery
6. From the Onix recovery menu select "advanced options"
7. Pick wipe dalvik/cache and confirm
8. Select go back untill you get to the first recovery menu
9. Select install zip from SD and NOT "install update.zip"
10. Navigate to your external SD (it should look something like "/extsd" in the file menu
11. Pick the zip you put on the external SD and confirm
12. Wait till the recovery indicates instalation done
13. Navigate back to the first recovery menu and select reboot phone
14. Sit back and relax, your phone will likely take 3-5 min to boot up the first time
If after 10 min of waiting you get no response from your phone, use the 3 button reset to get into the custom recovery and select advanced features again, format absolutely everything you can format (you'll have to do it one at a time) and do that. Then repeat the steps above.
Installing a custom ROM isn't normally this complicated but I am trying to eliminate as many variables as possible here that might cause complications with instalation.
Let me know how it turns out.
FYI: Continuum v4 has the Onix kernel in it (recovery is a blue color)
ROM Files
This is the link to the good JF6 stock ROM. You will have to download it and the ODIN version. All you need is the PDA.tar and the PIT that comes with the ODIN package in the thread. You can still use ODIN 1.8 once you get the PIT file out of the ODIN ZIP.
So, after all is said and done. When you feel like trying this:
1. Open ODIN
2. Phone into download mode (with phone off hold down both volume buttons and plug in USB)
3. Make sure phone is recognised by ODIN
4. Select PIT file that you downloaded
5. Select PDA file that you downloaded
6. Make sure "repartition" IS selected
7. Hit start and sit back and relax
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=818439
Again, let me know how it all works out.......
Ok, I'll try flashing Cog 4.3 after I get off this afternoon. I'll have to buy an external SD, but that's better than buying a new phone.
I skimmed those threads on the internal SD problem and it looks like there's either some corruption on the SD or it's not formatted correctly or something. How can I fix this problem? Doesn't the ROM need that internal SD card space? Or can it use the external SD card as a replacement? If it does need the internal SD card then won't the ROM fail to install if that SD is corrupted?
Thanks for all your help by the way. When Odin wasn't fixing the problem I was afraid it was completely bricked.
Hi guys
I'm pretty much a newbie when it comes to flashing a rom such as ICS or any latest rom that is available for my Galaxy Tab so i really need help with this to avoid problems. First how do i know whether my galaxy tab is GSM or CMDA ? i checked my WIFI settings and it says GSM/WCMDA what does these means ? I can use 3G if you needed to know.
And what tools and applications do i need ? to flash a rom such as ICS or any latest stable rom. i just factory reset my Galaxy Tab GT P1000 already as it's causing problems for me such as freezing everyday and restart by itself.
Currently my Galaxy Tab is on 2.3.3 GingerBread Android. The stock version of it was Froyo i guess that is 2.2 right ? and yeah i updated my tab from Kies few months ago to gingerbread of course. And yes i already rooted my Galaxy Tab few months ago but i just factory reset it today i guess the root is gone now ?
What are the latest and stable ICS/JB version for my Galaxy Tab GT P1000 ? please do guide me to successfully installing them.
hope someone is able to help me with this as i am going to flash it today.
thank you very much
Edit is highlighted by blue font. Mistake highlighted by red font.
I was just about to write a guide for my niece, here goes: -
Please read other guides to be more understanding of flashing. Below is a quick step only. Just in case the good long guides are too long and too complex. Hopefully with a short guide + long guide, it's easier and cover both sides / requirements. Sorry that it was too short for dc2mx, hope he recovers well.
pre-requisite. --->>> magic action.
Hold power button 8 seconds and it will FULLY SHUTDOWN. Don't let it be ON whole night. Battery does not charge during DOWNLOAD mode and not charge in RECOVERY mode. That's why I write in step 16 about this magic 8 seconds fully shutdown.
Hold power button 4 seconds and it boots up.
Hold power button 12 seconds will shutdown then boots. Not adviced. Because it becomes boot-loop.
OK, may some filenames are wrong, but they carry the same meaning. Hence please forgive my short-coming or spelling mistake or naming error.
make sure battery is 100% charged up.
no need root, hence skip rooting step.
download this file >>>GB-Stock-Safe-v5<<< link is provided another time by http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1881981 - thanks thanks thanks to priyana priyana priyana.
make sure to install USB driver first, then plug in TAB to PC, wait few minutes to let it recognize, install and stable_lise <<<stabilize>>>. Takes time. No need to copy anything into it. This is just to ensure that the drivers were installed properly and that it successfully recognized the device so that FLASHING can be carried out.
reboot holding VOL_DOWN to go into DOWNLOAD MODE. You should see the word DOWNLOAD with a big triangle symbol.
direct use Odin software to flash the >>>GB-Stock-Safe-v5<<< OVERCOME RE-STOCK version 5 (the file is TAR format), download link above. See more details somewhere else. Sorry for being lazy uncle.
make sure to select a file named <<<<mr.pit>>>> for the pit section, MUST.
select the <<<<rom file.TAR>>>> format for PDA <<<I wrote WRONG previously into phone section|>>>, MUST. Very terribly sorry to dc2mx and anyone else affected.
select <<<<modem.bin>>>> for phone section else can't call, but not need now, later will have, can skip. Unless you wanna stick to 2.3.3
tick 3 items, A = re-partition, B = auto-reboot, C = F.reset.time. MUST.
click FLASH, wait 2.5 minutes, finished, auto reboot. You should see the USB connect YELLOW highlight successful before able to click FLASH.
then reboot again into Download mode and Odin again to flash the KERNEL only <<<002001-Overcome_Kernel_v4.0.0.tar>>> because it contains most importantly CWM (clock work mod), which is a TAB_self_rom_flashing. (newbie term).
Then download a CM9 or CM10 or whatever you want. as for me, as of writing I'm using alroger's 8th November version. Thanks to alroger, humeros, cdesai, and so many more.....http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1869477 Put into TAB's internal sdcard. Fastest flash. My external SD is cheap type, hence slow.
Flash it via reboot holding VOL_UP to go into RECOVERY mode. Select the file/rom that you chosen.
You'll see flash progress go to 10% then reboot.
Then reboot loop non stop. Hold power button for 8 seconds for it to shutdown fully.
Why? because flashing the first 10% puts in a new kernel with new MTD partition and everything behinds it can't recognize it, can't find it hence boot loop.
Enter RECOVERY again, reboot holding VOL_UP. If failed again. Don't worry, keep trying, I had to try 10 times. My first manual reboot went into CWM successfully but I didn't understand and realize, hence did not flash the file again. Then reboot normally, obviously it just boot-loops. Tried to go into CWM the 3rd time but not succesful, it just boot-loops. try so many times, with full shutdown and wait many minutes in between. I think around 10 times or more later went into CWM finally. God bless.
Reboot again into RECOVERY and flash one more time and WIN, DONE.
finished.

Hi thank you for providing with this guide but it doesn't answer any of my questions i am asking but anyway, i am confused with step 4 i have already downloaded GB Stock Safe V5 from the thread you linked. what do you mean by install and Stable_lise ? i have my USB Cable connected to my Galaxy Tab and it shows as Removable storage. What do i need to copy in it ?
If it's possible can you provide much more detailed and clearer instructions ? which are definitely newbie proof.
EDIT: Nevermind i got what you're talking about but i did those 11 steps then now Odin says FAIL on the application about something unable to write partion or something like that. now my Tab is frozen on Do not turn off target screen, Did my Tab just got bricked ? how do i restart it ?

OVERCOME RE-STOCK version 5, the kernel is there but no OVERCOME RE-STOCK version 5..
thank you again
oh, and I suppose that "stable_lise" refers to stabilize?
See my signature for overcome new links.
(Actually same as his link)
It is GB stock safe v5, should no be called Overcome version 5.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using xda app-developers app
thanks priyana!!
I searched a lot about this matter and found all sorts of information..
I presume you know around the P1000, can you take a look at this thread, it is a more detailed question

Hey guys i really need help, i just posted yesterday and i am shocked that no one replied to me.
This is what i did yesterday i downloaded GB-Stock-Safe-v5, Overcome_Kernel_v4.0.0.tar, and CM10 P1000, md5sum: 157da0dc187216fa924da45182e1307e
OK i am going to repost now i already did those 10 steps but during step 11 Odin says FAIL on the application about something unable to write partion or something like that. now my Tab is frozen on Do not turn off target screen, Did my Tab just got bricked ? how do i restart it ?
So i was unable to turn it off. it was out of battery today, thought it might turn on if i charge it back. but i was both right and wrong it does boots up but now it gives me a Phone and a yellow /!\ Computer icons now, Anyone knows what is happening ?

Hi there. The phone-exclamation-pc thing is another download mode.
At least you still have your bootloader.
Just make sure in the mean time you powered it off and charge it for over 4hrs. You don't want the power to run out.
In the download mode, is Odin detecting the tab? if so, you should still have very good chance to revive it.
Now, question:
- did you use Odin v1.7 included in the GB-stock-safe-v5 package or using other? Remember it is important to use the correct Odin version.
There should be little reason for the flash to fail on repartition if you follow the guide. If you haven't got it, see my signature, and go there to get the PDF guide and jump to page 7.
If you have already followed exactly, then there is a chance you have a damaged internal NAND chip. There are ways to go around that, but lets not go there first.

Yes, i already connected my tab to power charger now. Of course i used Odin v1.7 that is included in GB-stock-safe-v5 package. but during Odin process i waited about 5mins then i went to see how is it going, then there's a FAIL in red above the first box. and my Tab is stuck a Do not turn off target mode.
I only did those instructions cx5 provided. So now i am stuck with Phone /!\ Computer icons screen. What am i going to do next ? And do you mean this guide ? https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B7k...EyNS00Yzg5LWE0MTktYmYyMjA1MThmYzQz/edit?pli=1 if yes, i haven't read it yet.
This is what i did yesterday i downloaded GB-Stock-Safe-v5, Overcome_Kernel_v4.0.0.tar, and CM10 P1000, md5sum: 157da0dc187216fa924da45182e1307e
What are the differences between P1000L and P1000N ? which CM10 files are right for my tab ?
Are these files that i am going to need ? please do refresh this thread every 5 mins or so. since i need help i will be here too. thank you
UPDATE: OK i just connected my Tab to power charger. but when i unplugged it. it turns off. i guess i need to leave it there for 4 hours to charge it ? i can't check whether Odin are able to detect my tab since i unplugged it and it turns off.
UPDATE2 Hmm my tab is blinking, it was on Phone /!\ Computer Icons screen. but now it's blinking, i meant it went to Phone /!\ Computer Icons screen then back to black screen every 10 seconds. is this normal ?
yes, try charge for more than 4hrs and hope the power goes in.
cx5 instruction seems correct, but it is best to look at page 7 of the guide for 100% accurate placement of the files.
the P1000L/N are Latin American tab that has different touch screen driver.

Hmm ok i think i know what went wrong during Odin process. cx5 said select the rom file.TAR for phone section, MUST. but i just read this guide https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B7k...EyNS00Yzg5LWE0MTktYmYyMjA1MThmYzQz/edit?pli=1 and it says click PDA and select GB_Stock_Safe_V5,tar and then click Phone.
i didn't click PDA as cx5 instructions didn't mention it. and that's why i am getting FAIL on Odin ?
Anyway, i guess i leave it to charge for 5 hours. then Test whether Odin is able to detect my TAB or not. see you in 5 hours later Priyana. hopefully you're online as i am not sure what to do next after Odin is able to detect my tab.
after charging, boot to download mode again, you may get that same screen like before.
In your PC prepare the Odin exactly like the page 7 of PDF.
Connect the tab to the PC and if you see the tab detected, just flash away, hopefully no error, and it should reboot itself if I am not mistaken, and you get stock GB rom.
Then just continue with the guide, to flash Overcome Kernel 4.0 tar.
After that you will have a CWM recovery, ready to flash CM10

OK so i am currently charging my Tab and it's blinking from Phone /!\ Computer screen to black screen every 10sec above. Does this screen disappear after fully charging it ? it seems that i am stuck at this screen now. but i can't turn it off and go to the previous hold Volume down and hold power button Do not turn off Target download mode.
Or Does Odin is able to detect my Tab on this Phone /!\ Computer screen too ? since you said it's another download mode please do correct me if i am wrong
yes Odin should detect it at this screen too.
If it doesn't, it will be very hard to fix.
I am surprised that you can't turn it off. Doesn't sounds so good, as it may deplete the batt completely.
Did you try to press the power button for a few seconds (5-10 seconds) to force it off completely?

Yeah my Tab was turn on for a whole yesterday. since i can't turn it off as it froze at Do Not Turn Off Target download mode. and today i saw the screen was off. then i went to turn it on but nothing i guess the battery is depleted. so i went to charge it and tried turning it on. it does boots up but now showing me this "Phone yellow /!\ Computer screen.
Okay, i just tested trying to shutting it down by holding Power button for 10seconds. but it seems that i can't turn it off. but the Tab itself is a little hot.
I have another question to ask, now i am stuck in this screen, and i have no idea it's charging or not. is this normal ? or usually it shows it's battery charging notification ?
UPDATE: It seems that my Tab is now turn off? it's not showing me the "Phone yellow /!\ Computer screen" now. it looks like it's turn off. nothing there just black
just leave it like this with the charger for maybe 8hr, since it has completely depleted before.
Battery charging animation I heard resides in the kernel.
So if the tab is flashed incorrectly, the battery animation will not be there.
It should still be charging (hopefully). The only way to be sure is to leave it charging for really long.

Ugh.. i know that it's just 5 hours+ But i was trying to turn on my tab to test whether Odin can detect my tab. but it seems that it won't power on. i guess it's dead ?
Damn i should have waited for your reply first priyana before doing anything. i just didn't do a important step which is "click PDA and select GB_Stock_Safe_V5,tar and then click Phone" instead of "select the rom file.TAR for phone section, MUST" which i thought click phone and select the tar. but it wasn't my fault as someone here posted the instructions that is misleading and missing the important step. Oh well....thanks for nothing,
Anyway, priyana, i really appreciate you are trying to help me. thank you very much buddy

Hi everybody,
sorry for posting this outside the mini 2 forum, but appearently that's a developers reserved forum, so I had no rights to post there.
I would like to ask what is the latest stable custom rom developed for mini2, where to find it and possibly an instruction page.
I had good experience with CM on another galaxy before, so I checked on the the CM website first but mini 2 is not listed there
On the other end I saw a long post on the mini2 developers forum saying that CM10 was actually created, but the post is 91 pages long(!), so forgive me if I didn't read it all. Is it working?
I also checked if there was something like an "in evidence" post with instructions for newbies but couldn't see any, maybe I missed it.
Can someone point me to the right page?
thank you for your held
davide
mm in the meantime I screwed things up. I installed gapps and now it only boots in recovery mode...
why? what shall I do?
please help
thank you
davide
ok, now I'm starting to panic.
why does nobody answer, am I doing something wrong with this post?
I reinstalled the stock rom. I first tried using CWM recovery and selecting install zip file from sd card, but it didn't work: it told me BAD regarding the zip file (downloaded from sammobile), then I succeded using odin. by the way which is the correct method?
However it now seems to start, but I get in loops messages from the setupwizard that says the guided configuration has crashed and also from gapps that Google service Framework has crashed (but should gapps be wiped by the rom flash???).
the problem is that the first of the two keeps restarting and crashing so the phone doesn't do anything else then showing this messages.
please help
davide
After you flash Stock ROM via Odin. Remove battery, put it back. Boot into stock recovery - clear user data & cache and reboot. If the same error occurs try deleting /Android directory(old cache) in your sd card.
thank you for your reply, unfortunately it didn't help.
what do you mean by "stock recovery"? the recovery I see, I believe is CWM which I installed before, but I'm not sure.
anyhow from there I wiped user&cache but I had tried this before and removing teh battery didn't make a difference.
I do not have any /Android directory on my SD card.
it's a simple 4GB fat 32 partition with a single file in it (the zip with stock rom I tried to flash before using odin) and nothing else.
by the way, I used odin3 v.1.83 to flash and I selected the file using PDA button,
but I also have "bootloader", "phone" and "csc" options.
what is the difference?
everything I do makes it more dramatic!
I tried reapeating the whole procedure once again, and odin crashed while flashing teh rom. now it doesn't even boot in download mode, it simply asys to connect kies in recovery mode. but kies never saw my phone in spite of driveres reinstallation, and it is of course not seeing it now!!

you should terminate kies before using odin. You can kill it in task manager, because kies intereferes with ODIN.
You should'nt be concerned with bootloader and the other options. As long as ur downloaded stock has tar.md5 extension you just place it in the PDA section and select Auto reboot and F. Reset time only.
Also You should only disconnect when it says PASS otherwise u will brick ur phone.
When u success fully flash ur stock rom, the chance is it will not get to homescreen
So u remove battery, reinsert it, press and hold HOME button together with POWER button, the phone boots into stock recovery, you choose wipe data and cache, then reboot. (chemicalrage explained this)
If it ain't booting into download mode u should go to service centre.
PS: My advice is to stay away from custom roms until samsung releases jelly bean for mini 2, then better custom roms will be released.

IF YOU FOLLOW MY STEPS BELOW, YOU WILL MAY LOSE YOUR WARRANTY, KNOX WILL DISPLAY 0x1! I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGED DEVICE!
BEFORE STARTING, make sure you have your sistem backup, if somethink goes wrong.
PLEASE, follow the instructions step-by-stop to make sure you succeed!
Now, let's get started:
1. Make sure you have USB Debugging enabled on your phone. You can easily enable it by going into --> Settings, scroll down, till you see "About phone" --> Scroll down till you see "create number". Tap it 7 times and you will enable developer settings. Now go back, scroll down again, and next to "About phone" you will see "Developer Options". Click on them. Make sure they are enabled by looking at top right corner and clicking white dot. Now go down till you see "USB Debugging" Press on it and click "OK" Check if it's enabled, then your phone is prepared.
2. Go ahead and download Odin3 latest (most recent) version into your computer. (Just google "Download Odin" or "Download Odin3".
3. Create a folder on your desktop and name it whatever you wish.
4. Download CF-Autoroot-kccat6-kccat6xx-smg901f.tar.md5 by clicking here and put it into the folder you just created, or just download it and put it into the folder. This is autoroot. It will root your device.
5. Download TWRP Custom Recovery by clicking here and put it into the folder you just created, or just download it and put it into the folder. This is Custom Recovery, it's the best one yet for SM-G901F. (Thank you once again Tkkg1994 for letting us use it and have it on our S5's)
6. Make sure your phone has at least 60% of battery remaining.
7. Power off the phone while holding power button and pressing "Power off" and "OK" and wait for it to turn off.
8. Get the phone into Download mode by pressing and holding Volume Down + Power + Home buttons at once. Wait for yellow think pop up with some text. Then press Volume UP to get into Download mode.
9. Plug your phone into PC with USB cabble. Then Open Odin. If it's not installed, just install it. Then wait for odin to recognise your phone (where it says ID:COM) that little box should turn into blue color. Go to options, make sure that ONLY autoreboot and F. Reset Time are market. Then, next to AP, mark it, and then click it. Select CF-Auto-Root-kccat6-kccat6xx-smg901f.tar.md5 and click "open". Wait for it to load up.
9.1 Hit the start button and watch the magic happen. You can take a look at your phone and see that blue think is charging up fast. Just let him do his thing. After the autoroot is applied, the phone will reboot itself. Remember that only first reboot after flashing somethink new will take longer. Stay calm and chill. Btw you can close odin for now.
10. Enter the pin code if the phone asks it, then turn on wifi. SuperSU message should pop up telling to install SuperSU. Do it (You need Wi-Fi). When the SuperSU is installed, your device should be rooted. (Don't freak out if SuperSU message didn't pop up, you can allways install it from Google Play store). You can go to google play store, download root checker, open it, click on "check root" or something similar, it will ask root acess, accept it. Then it's probably going to show that this device is properly rooted. Gratz! If not, you managed to screw up somewhere :crying:
Now, it's time for Custom recovery. It's much more better than standart recovery, and it will probably be needed in future.
Sooo, step 11. Get your phone into download mode once again (Power off, then Volume down+Power+Home) and then Volume up.
11.1 Connect your phone into your computer with USB cabble.
11.2 Open Odin/Odin3. Again, wait for it to recognise your phone, then click on "options", again, make sure that only Autoreboot and F. Reset Time are market. Then, next to AP, mark it, and then click it. Select g901f-cwm-recovery-6.0.5.1(1130).tar and press "open". Wait for it to load up.
11.3 Hit the start button and once again, watch the magic happen.
12. After succesfully flashing custom recovery, your phone should reboot by itself.
Guess what folks? This is it! You should have your SM-G901F G4+ rooted and have a custom recovery applied! CONGRATULATIONS to you! If you liked the guide, please hit "Thanks" button, it helps a lot And you can also rate this Threat! If you need any help, just post your question down here in the comment section.
Just a thing: I don't suggest installing Cyanogens (CM) Custom ROM. I've had so much trouble with CM 12, with removing it, fixing my phone and fixing google apps untill I totaly reseted it. However you are free to do what you want. If you found better ROM that's working for you and may work for others, be sure to share it right here in the comment section!
Edit: I found out that this guy @Tkkg1994 posted a good guide about how to install a ROM for this device! I tested it myself and it works perfectly! Currently testing other features, but It's the best one yet for SM-G901F G4+ kccat6/kccat6xx, you can check out the guide by clicking here!

5. Download g901f-cwm-custom-recovery-6.0.5.1(1130).tar by clicking here and put it into the folder you just created, or just download it and put it into the folder. This is custom recovery, it's the best one yet for SM-G901F.

Hi KiprasLT, I already have downloaded the default android(G901FXXU1BOC4_G901FNEE1BOC4_NEE). I checked, my device is SM-G901F Lte+. I don't know if it's the same as 4g or there are some differences, that's why I wrote this message. Please tell me, if it's the
same, or it changes everything.
Wish you all the best

It's a little bit different from the 4G+, but I'm not sure if it changes anythink. You might have to google it yourself or find another guide, becouse I myself don't own the lte+ nor I have any experiance with it.
Hi again. Somehow, I rooted, and installed cw. When I tryed to install the system, it passed, but I've got a bootloop. So I restored the factory firmware. Any suggestion? Thanks in advance.

Yeah I think the cw doesn't work for this phone model, so just stick whit what I've provided, it's working perfectly for me for about half a year and I'm not complaining. If you have any more questions, just reply to me.

WELCOME TO SUPER GUIDE on how to root and add Custom Recovery for Samsung Galaxy S5 (SM-G901F 4G+ kccat6/kccat6xx) (ONLY FOR THIS MODEL)!

I changed the DPI of my S5 Plus to 400 instead of the default 480. Some apps now appear in smaller boxes on the screen. For me the biggest problem is that the camera now has this problem.
In other threads people bring this up for the normal s5. The solution is to use Xposed to set custom Appsettings. But the problem is that Xposed doesn't work (yet) on the S5 plus! So is there any other way to fix the camera app?
Cheers!
