I offered to send my phone to my young daughter in Germany.
The phone is Rooted but is running the standard stock ROM.
I have been in touch with T-mobile, but since I cancelled my account, they are jerking me around with the unlock code.
My question is, can my daughter use her prepaid GSM phone card from Aldi in the Rooted G1 w/o unlocking it? I am aware data might not work, but she will be using the Wifi anyways. Any advice/input?
hey brutal-force
there don't should be any problems,
is used a rooted american G1 with my German o2 sim card
all i had to do is to set the apn manualy.
The provider settings should be loadet automaticly, instead off you coudln't use your phone in other countries
and with the simlock i hadn't any probs.
best regards,
psycho

Is the phone sim unlocked? I don't know how it works with Sprint but that would be the case with GSM providers
If it's Sprint, it's CDMA.AT&T and T-Mobile are the only GSM providers in the US. However, it should work there if you get the SIM unlocked. The SIM unlock code is formulated based on the IMEI, so there are three ways to get it:
From Sprint. Probably the simplest, but tricky if you're not the phone's original owner.
Pay a site or unlocking service with the algorithm that decodes it from the IMEI. Usually runs around $10-$20.
Try the steps in this thread:

You can also try this app, but it only works on rooted phones running the original ROM:

Good luck.
How do i go about unlocking the Sim? I cant get the unlock box where I put in the code to come up!

Bro, A CDMA PHONE CANNOT BE UNLOCKED. IT WON'T EVEN WORK ON ANOTHER CDMA CARRIER LIKE VERIZON. ONLY SPRINT SIMs WILL WORK.
Make sure u buy a GSM phone if u plan 2 use it on another carrier.
But the phone uses GSM! It picks up the network here but I just cant get the unlock box

Then it simply isn't a Sprint handset. CDMA phones can only work on that particular network. The phone is custom-made just for that network
I have unlocked my Z1s from T-Mobile's network so it should work on AT&T as they are both GSM and use most of the same bands. After unlocking it and verifying that my phone is indeed unlocked I put my AT&T SIM card in and the phone reset but it does not recognize the SIM card. Is this something AT&T needs to solve, or is there a way I can remedy this issue?

What method did you use to unlock?
Sent from my Xperia Z1 using Tapatalk
I purchased an unlock code. I entered it and it shows it as being unlocked.
Seems like your phone/imei is blacklisted...query the national blacklist with your imei to get it confirmed
The phone was on T-Mobile's "blacklist", it has since been removed and says that it is ready to be used. The phone still does not read the AT&T SIM card. I am wondering now if the SIM card is locked, or if it is a hardware issue. Thoughts?
Hi, I recently purchased a Samsung S5 Mini.
model # SM-G800F
Android version 4.4.2
I'd previously read that my sim would work fine according to this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/gds/Choosing-...-on-Three-3-Network-/10000000020620251/g.html
I've inserted the sim but it says 'network locked sim card inserted'
I've got a full signal with the phone and so the issue is definitely related to the sim.
I presume I have to unlock the phone?
Phone is locked to EE network in UK but it seems that my network Three (3) shares the same network and so, in theory, the sim should work??
Thanks for the flood of support. I ended up buying a code off ebay.
AT&T Samsung S6 Active, unlocked, cannot get to function on Bell Mobility (Canadian)
Hi,
A friend purchased an unlocked AT&T Samsung S6 Active off of ebay. The phone is definitely unlocked. I can insert a SIM from Bell Mobility without a SIM card message or error. Problem is I cannot get the phone working on Bell's network with a Bell SIM card. tried a Telus SIM card and same problem. Searched all over and found various helpers about entering service mode, change bands, configuring to Bell Mobility APN's etc. but no success.
One site I did find mentioned that the AT&T Samsung S6 Active was special built for AT&T and it will never work on any other carrier due to frequency or antenna limitations of the phone. Has anyone had experience with AT&T S6 Active in Canada? I don't mind doing more reading and research, just at a lost where to turn next...
Thanks in advance,
Murray
