[Q] Root Explorer - System application moving - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
I've used the following procedure to make the wave secure application a system application:
1) I've installed the wave secure program trough the android market.
2) With the "root explorer" program (already installed on my rooted device) I've moved the application "com.wsandroid.apk" from the default installation path to "\system\app"
3) Reboot
My goal was to make wave secure a system aplication, please, can anybody confirm that this is the correct (and easy) procedure or suggest others?
thanks to all

get titanium backup from the market . there is a free version . open the second tab and you will see all the apps
1 browse and find your app then long press > convert to system app !
got too many apps ?
2 menu button > filter > search part of the app name> done
now in the second tab you will see ur app
long press > convert to system app !
done

This is quite right. But if u can't see the app in appdrawer set the permission to r/rw

titanium
For the users who rooted their smartphone, titanium backup is must have application ..... it has many features including demanded one "convert to system app"....

[Q] Install a whole bunch of APKs at once, with 1 click\press?

is there any app that does this? it's getting annoying to use astro file manager, checking all the apps i want to install, and then still giving permission to each app to be installed. tried searching, but yielded no relevant results.
I don't know whether you can do it via graphical UI, but surely you can use ADB and simple shell script to install from your PC.
Code:
for APP in `ls *.apk`; do
adb install $APP
done
I think it's possible also from terminal emulator with similar script - replace adb with pm, but I didn't test this one.

Are you restoring apps after a wipe/reset? Try titanium backup, it does backups and every data off every app and just by doing a batch restore everything goes back to how it was previously

Android Commander can do bulk install, just plug in your phone whilst on normal mode, dont activate mass storage, and you can batch install - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=597098
Perhaps even this app can achieve the same result - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=585085
Droid explorer can do this easily
thanks, everyone! yes, this was because i installed a new froyo rom(chromatic 4.4).
it took awhile, but i got android commander working, and was able to install all my apps using it.
just having a weird issue now;
so, as mentioned, i used android commander to install all my apps. they all seem to have installed on the phone, however, and not on the SD card. i have "allow application moving" checked, and "install location" set to 'automatic'. i am able to move the applications 1-by-1 in settings > manage applications > downloaded, then clicking on the application, and then pressing "move to sd card". why aren't the apps being installed to the sd card? how can i move them all at once? i really don't want to move each app, one at a time. thanks

Install Multiple apk automatically

Is there anyone know there's an app on market that helps installing all the apk automatically? like there is an option 'select all' the backup apps then you don have to go install them 1 by 1 manually
Yeah, that would be great to have, closer thing AFAIK would be Titanium Backup
More or less what Appbrain and Appbrain fast web install is supposed to do.
Nokia had a program that did just what you wanted .
Copy programs to a folder tick box and it carried out multiple install .
Nearest i have come is manual install of APK for Android .
jje
It's probably a safety feature to stop apps from installing themselves without permission. I suspect titanium manages it because it has root permission.
See this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970348 an app for this has been made.
is there any application to install apks manually?
Save APK in a folder on phone and manually install each one .
jje
i user appasst it scans the SD card for all apk files and u can tick the ones u want and say install. alot quicker than one by one.
u can even make it only scan one folder.
It can take a while before they show up but will work eventually.

[Q] Enabling non-market aps with OneClick

I have used SuperOneClick to root my phone, and am now trying to use it to enable non-market aps. When I do, I get the following message:
Checking value... (requires root)
Non-market applications are disabled.
Allow non-market apps... (requires root)
OK
Checking value... (requires root)
FAILED
Can anyone let me know what I need to do to enable non-market aps?
Did you try a non market app Install to make sure it wasn't working?
Sent from my phone on steroids
Bro...same thing here. What I did was flash to just about any rom and the rom will allow to install non market apps. Also, on the market there is an app that allows you to install apps from the SD card. So you could go to getandroidstuff.com and download the .apk, put on your cappy, and use the app to install. But personally I like the ROM! Yee

Sorry, I never got an e-mail that I got a reply.
Yes, I've tried to download the new Amazon market but get an error message that I can't install non-market aps.
There is a second way. It involves tibu and a brain.
1. Find settings storage in an Sqlite editor, I use sqlite from the market, it costs money but it is worth it.
2. Find the database in settings storage and open it
3. Click on secure
4.look at the first column, find allow non market apps.
Change the value for the non market apps from 0 to 1
5. Save the database.
You may need to reboot but that shouldn't be necessary
If it is already a 1 then change it to a zero and save then do it again.
Also before you do this download the super one click again and try it with the newly downloaded one click.

Did you root using one click, then try that( i reccomend rageagainstthecage method)(on the right upper corner of program)

Backing up S-Memo

Whats the easiest way to backup the S-Memo data. Using it for meetings and with the new ROM's I would like to backup the data. Where is the data held?
Thanks
Sync with google or evernote. I never tried it but there is an option for it

Sync wic google docs
Its gud
Nd if u delete some doc frm ur fone..stil it wil remain on gdocs wich u cn use later
Deletd docs wont b syncd bak to ur fone
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA App
Google sync does not work properly. If there are no memos on the phone and you try to sync back from google docs then it inserts the notes as pictures within notes. After a couple of such syncs the original note becomes a picture in a picture in a note. Needless to say the loss in resolution makes it impossible to read them.
A friend has the same problem so it is not just me. Does anyone know of a solution? The best would have been a folder that could simply be on the sdcard. I love using the S Memo application and just wish they had given some thought to the storage issue.
Thanks,
damn another unsolved thread!
for me syncing with "evernote" works fine, it also gives me the option to edit notes on the pc and sync it back to my phone, it is quite nice as my secretary shares a folder with me and she can send me in real time notes.
Unlike to Google evernote is really syncing, but this means if you delete a not or Snote then it is going to be deleted on the phone as well.

backup the S-Memo data

I have found a method of backing up the drawings / text from S-Memo exactly as they are (as in you are still able to draw and erase on them) but the backup process isn't exactly "easy".
NB: Now I am just going to assume that users who are reading this have never heard of Titanium Backup or are not familiar with the program.
====================
To backup S-Memo data:
1. Go into your app drawer and open the file explorer program My files (or any other file management program you have like Astro or ES etc).
2. Navigate to your external SD storage (/sdcard/External_SD) and create a folder there called Titanium (or any other name you desire). Once that's done you can exit.
3. Then you need to download the app Titanium Backup Free or Pro (Free version from Google Play here), Install.
4. Open Titanium Backup > click your phone's menu button > Preferences.
5. Select Backup folder location. Now, using your phone's back button to (suprise!) go back, navigate to the folder you created in step 1 of this guide (if you followed the guide it will be in /sdcard/External_SD/Titanium. After you are inside the folder you created, select Use the current folder. Now hit your phone's back button.
6. Still in Titanium Backup app, select the Backup / Restore tab from the top.
7. Scroll down and find the S-Memo app (screenshot 1 attached below). Single-tap it, then press the Backup ! button (screenshot 2).
8. Done!
p.s. Just a quick explanation of what we did, essentially we created a folder for Titanium Backup to store its backup files in a place that is not on the internal SD. Therefore if we decide to do a full system wipe which included the internal SD (whether deliberately or accidentally) our backup data would not be wiped with it (I think the default Titanium Backup location is /sdcard/TitaniumBackup i.e. on the internal SD for our phone).
====================
To restore S-Memo data:
1. Install Titanium Backup again (remember we wiped our phones, so the app is gone?).
2. Same process as steps 4 and 5 from above: Open Titanium Backup > phone's menu button > Preferences > Backup folder location > navigate to /sdcard/External_SD/Titanium (or wherever you saved it) > Use the current folder.
3. Now hit your phone's back button > then press the Backup / Restore tab.
4. Find the S-Memo app > select it > press Restore (screenshot 3). When you're done you can exit Titanium Backup.
Now here is where it gets interesting...
5. Open S-Memo... and you may notice the drawings / text you have created have been restored, but have one of the following problems:
- Image missing from the note preview.
- Only part of the image is visible in the note preview.
- The image preview is displaying something random.
This is what has happened: The drawings / text you have created from before have been restored, but the preview of the drawing / text has not been updated on your new system (I have no idea where S-Memo stores that). So if you select the drawing / text, it is an exact copy of the original, but you just can't see it in the S-Memo preview.
6. To get that preview back, do the following:
For drawings: Open the drawing > draw something (like a dot) > then you can erase it during the same drawing session > click Save.
For text: Open the text > type a letter or something > delete it during the same drawing session > click Save.
7. Now the preview of the note should accurately reflect the contents of the note!
====================
I'm not sure if there is another easier method than this, but I have been using this method successfully through multiple wipes (I should really stop messing around with system files ) to restore my S-Memos perfectly. A very long, but (I'm pretty sure!) a garuanteed method to work. If anyone else has another method do let us know.
Enjoy your restored notes
Retrieve original sketches which came with the Note
I seem to have lost the original sketches which came with my SNote. Does anyone know how I can retrieve them? I didn't back them up....

You could try to search on the file system for the folder where the files are stored by the app.
Then use a file restore program to try and undelete the files.
ANd oh yeah, make BACKUPS! then you would not be in this situation (yes it is stating the obvious).
I have some additional info for users who update there Note app to the newer version.
You can use the same procedure as above to restore data + app.
Just rename the Smemo.apk, do a restore of app+data, remove the restored app, rename the newer Snote app to it's normal name and start it.
You will see some conversion, then it works (at least it did for me).
To restore the preview images, back up the /Sd Card/S-memo folder before you flash, then overwrite with your backup afterwards. The thumbnails / Previews are stored as ordinary JPGs.
Now if only I can manage to extract that folder from my nandroid backup... :silly:
why not use Titanium backup pro's cloud sync option - you can password protect all files too.
Even if my phone dropped to the bottom of the sea, i will always have my contacts, cal, apps and selected folders backed up and password protected online.
I have not tried restoring S memo data, but im sure TB pro will restore it fine.

[Q] Can't remove completely application

Hi! I've uninstalled some applications but I can remove them completely.
When I go to "Settings" "Applications" "Manage" I keep getting this apps:
com.allrecipes.spinner.free
com.keramidas.tinaniumbackup
com.popcap.pvz_row
They all have 0.00kb of space. When I try to remove, it allows me. But when I've restart the phone, the same applications are there again.
Can anybody help me by telling me what can I do to remove them?
Thanks!
You got root ?
If you do
Download root explorer
And then go to system-->app
Dont forget to mount to R/W
(There is a botton at the top)
Then press long press on the app you want to uninstall, delete it.
Reboot the phone
And there you go .. you deleted the app you wanted

Hi! I've got root. But i'va looked at that folder and didn't find the files corresponding to the app I want to remove. They're still at the aplication manager :\
I've first removed some of the applications using titanium backup, but now, i've searched with root manager, and can't find any files with that name, buy they are @ the application manager.
