Having problems sending and receiving mms messages. Where can I find the default messaging app?
what do you mean? cm6 uses the default messaging app.
You might have to create the APN for mms for your carrier.

Well I have the modified mms that comes with cm6 and it doesn't resize audio files like the stock one. Plus all the pictures I receive are all 1k. And I have checked the APN setting.

I'm using Eugene's Franken-twiz Update 3 and cannot send nor receive MMS messages.
I can receive standard texts just fine. I've tried using the stock MMS app and the MMS app that came in twiz and neither function for me. I googled the APN settings to make sure they are correct and they are so I'm at a loss now.
I am correct in that if the APN settings were wrong, I'd have no web access, correct?
your internet can be working even if your mms settings are incorrect. Some providers require separate MMS and web settings in a separate entry each. Others just have one set of settings that include both. Vodafone NZ uses 2 sets, Telecom NZ uses one combined.
Having said that, I can send a MMS, but cant seem to download or receive them, so Im in the same boat!
My APN settings are identical to a friend with a Galaxy S. I have a Captivate.
So I flashed the cm7 rc1 on my hero and everything works great but my mms only works half the time with wifi off..so I tried flashing (sirthumpalots)cm7 based ics rom to test the mms and I have the same issue except I can receive but can't send mms..and I can't find any Apns settings by using dialer open apn method or through my settiings ,wireless networks....no apn settings anywhere..the phone carrier is Gci here in AK and I have no data plan but I do have mms on the plan..thanks in advance
I had a similar issue with sending and receiving MMS with the default messenger app. Then I decided to install Handcent SMS from the market and for some reason I was able to see all the MMS that was sent and received.
I found out if you remove the Stock Messaging app you start to not be able to receive Pictures. People probably know this but I thought it was a nice piece of info others could know just in case so they don't delete the stock messaging app like I did.
If you were going to use a 3rd party app, such as Handcent, you need to make sure the settings are to use that app for MMS messaging. It's been a while since I used that, but I do recall the default settings to NOT accept MMS as a format, but can by changing the setting. Try that.
I do remember that I 'froze' the stock app and was able to receive everything via Handcent, so that should work....

When I send photos using the stock messaging app or handcent the photos a very compressed and look terrible on the receiving end. Anyone experience this and is there a fix?

Thanks for the input, but sorry not an option for me, hangouts is trash imo. Really would rather handcent or stock mms. To ask again, any else experience very compressed almost pixilated photos when sending mms?
Any other suggestions, like a build.prop edit or something?
Go Pro SMS has some specific options for Multimedia MMS settings, and if you attach an image it prompts for conversion and sizes. I can't find the same things for the default Messages app.
There are some tweaks available via the XPosed Framework, too like blocking SMS to MMS messages
*** Correction I'm running the Unity ROM and I'm no longer prompted for the MMS image conversion and it's a very big compression.
I'm using BlissPop and have been unable to send/receive MMS using the stock Messaging app.
Google Messenger works
Sliding messaging works
Hangouts works
Not an APN issue, unless there are hidden ones somewhere.
Interestingly, in sliding messaging when I ask it to automatically insert the APN, two options come up: the right one (optus), which I have in settings, and the wrong one(virgin), not listed anywhere else.
Could be possible that the virgin APN is hidden somewhere and being defaulted too in Messaging? I am actually on Virgin (Australia), but they use the optus network so the optus APN is the correct one.
Any thoughts on this, besides telling me to just use one of the other apps?
You or your ROM running an ad blocker? On Verizon I have to whitelist the MMS server
Sent from my Benzo'd Google N6 on VZ
Interesting thought, but I imagine that no MMS would come through if it was blocking the server. My issue seems to be isolated specifically to MMS.apk
