Sometimes my Google fone launches into Wagner's 'Rise of the Valkyries' and keeps going for ages.
I have since rooted & loaded the CYAG rom and it still happens randomly - say once every 2 days on average but on 1 occasion it happened 3x in a day
Any ideas ?
It's probably set as your main notification sound. Check Menu -> Settings -> Sound -> Notification ringtone.
Nope ... not listed as a notification ringtone for anything - in fact it isn't even in sounds at all on the phone.
Thats whats odd --- it just starts playing at random times -- no reason, no particular app, no alarm or event, nothing ---- in fact, the phone can just be on my desk sleeping and it will start off on Wagner
ps I dont even like Wagner

I keep setting reminders to pop up an on screen notification then after a reboot and not every time) it loses the settings and I have to go back into SOUNDS - NOTIFICATIONS and set reminders to have the ON SCREEN MESSAGE again.
Does anyone know how to make the permanent as it is driving me mad.
I too am having this problem - why does it do that????
I think I had this problem before updating to Rom 1.37.707.1 too...so probs not rom related
It is weird. It only resets sometimes as well. I cant work out what causes it.
wonder why not many ppl complaining about this issue? Its good having notification on
yes mine did it last night again but had not done it for a few days.
I wonder if it is to do with certain software configurations i.e. if you have something installed. I have not added that much to the standard build or even if it is noise specific i.e. a certain sound file.
So since Rogers updated us to froyo (yes this is the canadian i896 model) I've been having the problem lately where it just won't play media files anymore.
I'll notice this when I go to watch a youtube video and it'll say "problem playing touch to retry", then I'll go try to play an mp3 and it'll say "cannot support this file type", so I'll check a video and get the same. The pisser is that it won't play notification sounds or ringtones either as it seems to be all connected.
Now these are files that played fine only some time ago, so I dont' know what caused it to stop being able to play.
If I power down / power up the phone things are back to being copacetic. Just a pain as it takes about a minute to power down, and then at least a minute to boot back up.
Samsung suggested i just reset the whole phone - which I'm not enthused to lose a lot of data (some of my programs just don't allow backups).
I've taken the scientific approach and run each of my programs one at a time with after running it, checking it with with a media player to see if it'd stop working. nothing.
I've deleted/uninstalled a lot of programs to ensure it was running on only what i truly wanted. nothing
I just don't want to reset my phone - that would suck.
It just seems to happen at random. Literally I watched a video, put the phone down, went to bed, woke up the next morning and it didn't play. Now who know s what background apps were going on... but how can I control that..
any help/suggestions?
I have the same phone with the same issue
I have a new theory-
I noticed that it happens after I get a notification that my battery is full.
It sounds silly but it's the only thing I noticed that affects it.
I'll keep on testing..
heard the official twitter app causes some issues - uninstall it to fix
i uninstalled - so we'll see if it fixes
hello all.
I installed the nightly 12-20150210 last night and since this last update my phone has a random notification now. While I am texting or browsing the internet or viewing a document (random moments, no correlation between actions) I get a notification that says "Sorry, the phone has stopped working" then i click ok and thats it. nothing happens. the program doesn't close out or restart my phone. It is a random notification and when I select ok the notification just goes away for about an hour or 2 until it randomly pops up again.
Any thoughts on what this may be?
Hello there, I have a frustration with my Nexus 6 running 6.0.1
While there is similar probs around, none seem to explain mine.
When using Google Music on Bluetooth/Headset I get normal operation and then randomly (sometimes immediately, sometimes up to about 5 minutes) the volume drops down. The Volume slider still shows 100% volume.
I thought at first it was the ear-saftey thing we used to have where it does this, but then allows you to change it back to full volume. But I didn't get any message around that or cannot find a way to override it.
Then I thought it was another system process stealing focus and the phone getting confused, eg dropping volume for a notification and then just not returning it.
Tried rotating phone to see if it was a portrait/landscape bug
Everytime. I restart the phone, it's fine again before the random volume drop occurs 1 sec-5 mins after playing a song. Once it does it, it gets stuck that way.
I've lived with it for a long time but it's doing my head in now so hopefully someone can help it advise?
Not even sure if a factory reset will fix.
Cheers

I've had the same problem, running N developer preview 1 listening with wired headphones. I've learned that I just kind of have to wait for it to pass, try force stopping play music, or restart the phone.
Are you streaming your music, or is it downloaded onto your device? I manually copy music onto my phone from my computer, and this is when I've got the issue, as I stream with Spotify fairly often and never have the problem. I've always thought it was just some bug reading all of these crazy 3rd party audio files in the storage.
Hasn't been much of a problem for me... Just jumped at the opportunity to share when I saw this thread. If it bothers you that much, try a full wipe of internal storage and reinstall everything. Cheers! Hope I helped.
A few months ago I started getting a random alarm/notification sound (like 2 seconds long, really loud) with no notification shown at all (screen off). Everyday at the same time. Exactly 10:02 in the morning. It's specially annoying since the phone makes the sound even with Not Disturb on.
I thought maybe the Android 10 update would solve this issue. Nope.
Things I've noticed/tried:
1) The sound isn't part of the clock alarm list of alarm tones.
2) I've already done a full factory reset, manually re-installed all my apps. Still there.
3) If my device is in Airplane Mode, the sound isn't there: as soon as I turn off airplane mode and I get internet connection again, the device makes the sound.
4) I've tried looking at recent notifications (system notifications included) through settings. Nothing.
I attach screenshots of all my downloaded apps:

I'll see if I can record the sound tomorrow and then upload it.

I'm desperate. Please help.

Maybe a ****y Tasker or AutoNotification setting/profile ? Look at those two apps,, it can be a bad in-app setting or an error in a Tasker profile/task. If you don't find anything suspicious over there, I would suggest you to uninstall Tasker and its related plugins like AutoNotification and see if the sound still play at 10:02...
But this airplane mode condition to let the sound play is strange coz it mean it's internet/cellular connection related ?

Nothing strange in both of those apps. Autonotification is actually disabled and I just use Tasker for some Bluetooth/Wi-Fi near interactions.
It is indeed very strange. Thanks.
Was able to record sound. Anyone recognizes it?
