Hey guys
First of all, my apologies if such request has already been made. I searched for "pershoot kernel no uv" and "pershoot kernel stock voltage" and came up empty handed.
As the title says, I'm looking for a kernel similar to pershoot's, with all its tweaks except for the undervolting.
The reason for this: I love the speed, the audio boost, capacitive buttons fix, BUT I'm noticing an impact on signal strength from the radio. I remember reading a horror story from a user here who thought using and UV'ed kernel killed his radio and I'm getting nervous.
For reference I have on hand 3 nexus's. All AT&T versions, 2 of them dead stock, 1 (mine) rooted, running Rodriguezstyle's v2.3fix froyo rom with pershoot's oc uv .33.4 kernel. I'm getting anywhere from -10 to -20 db's less in my signal meter in my phone as compared to the stock ones. It sucks since my rooted one completely smokes the other two when it comes to features and speed.
I'd like to go back to stock voltage and see if my signal reception improves. I hope it hasn't caused damage to the radio.
Thank you!
Uh bump? I'm now using a rooted FRF83 stock ROM with the stock kernel and my signal reception is definitely better but I already miss pershoot's... Anybody got a suggestion? Thanks!
Hello all,
I currently have a captivate, rooted, with lagfix, and the 1.2ghz OC kernel installed. I'm the 3rd device listed under the Linpack scores by device (capoirrier) however when looking at the scores today i noticed a device pulling about 5 mflops higher on the 1ghz kernel. Just curious as to if anybody knew of a new custom rom that could produce those scores at 1ghz? Just always interested in tweaking every little bit of performance out of my device in any way possible. Anyway, if anybody could shed some light on what it could be I would be very appreciative.
Could be s galaxy s with gimped froyo on it.
Stats to the right tho shows device with 2.1 on it
Hello everyone,
I am a newcomer to the O2X world. My previous device was an Xperia X10 and having that device for a long time it was fairly easy to follow the forums and know what route to go, which rom to get or kernel, etc.. Now being introduced to Rom Manager, and this phenomenal (to me) device its like starting all over again. I flashed to CM7.1 nightly (yesterday) and the device just only seems to get better and better, although being honest, I truly loved the Music App 2.2.2 had, as well as the camera. I tinkered around a little to get those to work without any success yet.
In any event, my real question is about the kernels... running CM7.1 nightly, what is a recommended Kernel to switch to? I am not looking to overclock the device as I feel it just isn't necessary (used to the Xperia), so Im just looking to get any fixes, tweaks, been hearing about Voodoo Sound etc to just solidify the phone.. might someone be able to point me in the right direction? I had been reading the forums for days now since I got the device but still haven't found what route to go as all the features are completely new to me.
Any help would much much be appreciated! and I must add, there are mixed reviews on the O2X but my take thus far, Im completely blown away.
vorkkernel and swiftextreme
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1059910 - vork
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1325183 - swiftextreme
vork is good in ironing out cm and showing off large score in tests like(quantrant etc.) while
swiftextreme is very good on batterylife
but I still prefer stock cm kernel
welcome to the o2x forums btw

hi, welcome
i stick to vorkkernel(normal version), you can get app to install in market for free.
i run it on 1,2 Ghz, with sleep profile in setcpu with 816Mhz.
gives me about 35hrs battery life and great speed in everyday use.
I am on CM7 with swiftkernel, [email protected],2GHz and I am really satisfied. I get 36-48h of normal use with 3G on and the 2x runs as hell.
Only drawback from the swiftkernel: You get a wakeup delay (1 sec.) because the kernel locks the cpu down to 256MHz when the screen is off. (Which results in a higher standbytime.
Hah, I remember my X10, used to run TripNraver MIUI on that does he even still make roms?
Anyway would stick to the stock CM7 kernel if i were you, least problems with that (no SOD, BSOD etc). On vork / swift problems keep popping up (for me at least). CM7 kernel no problems
I really dont have any knowledge about kernel!! pls help me
i am using cyanogen mod 7 and i installed swiftkernel by overclocking to 1.2 ghz wont it damage my phone??? pls do reply thank you very much in advance .....

You always take a risk when overclocking. With 1.2 it's not a big risk, but there's always one.
Thank you so much!!! can you pls tell me which kernel is good for daily use ??? i am using cyanogen mod 7 ??? when i installed swiftkernel .. i realized that it was automatically overclocked to 1015??? is this fine???
Yo...
I'm using CM Nightly's, in last week I did the install the Vork Kernel, I think so good to diary use.
Now I'm using the #201 with Vork Kernel, all ok. No BSOD and others bugs.
You can use SetCPU with personal profiles.
I'm using max 1216mhz and Profile's Screen Off: max 816 min 216. All ok in this time.
Already did one week, no problems with this.
Just had problem with #202 CM, in #197 and #201 all ok.
so bro if i am running MIUI , what do i need to do to overclock it??
sill any of these kernals be good enough or is there any specific kernal for miui??
best battery kernel for cm7 2.0?
hi guys i wanted to know if anyone could suggest a good kernel for cm7 which has worked to save battery but still maintain a good performance. i am currently using stock cm7 kernel.
thanks
I've tried a few and settled on 2.6.38.8 Tiamat_N1-v4.1.0. Spent all afternoon screwing around on my phone and still at 70% charge. That is a bit better than what I've seen before.
I'm a novice but I've tried a few different kernels with my CM7.2 RC2 build and this has been the best so far. I have one of the N1 phones with really low in-call speaker volume, this kernel appears to boost the volume. I don't notice any distortion either. This kernel also suppose ext4 filesystems which I need for S2E. And finally.. I picked this over others because Bluetooth works and I had troubles earlier. Look for "Tiamat_N1-v4.1.0.zip"
Note that I am also running an updated radio (5.08) and the blackrose HBOOT. Sorry but I do not recall if those are prerequisites for this kernel.
I used kernels from pershoot, IR, and Tiamat. All very good for battery.
Don't forget to lower your min CPU as much as your phone can handle. Mine can go as low as 128 MHz with no wake issues. I usually leave at 998 Max. I also use SmartassV2 governor.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA
tiamat is a beasttt of a kernel tbh you should give it a whirl

edit: AND nope, sorry. Good luck.
Hello,
As you may or may not know, CyanogenMod 10.1 RC2 Official was released yesterday for our phones. I flashed it yesterday onto my phone and I was interested in whether CyanogenMod 10.1 was actually improving our phones as a whole. I know it may improve the overall user experience, e.g. stock android goodyness, customization, etc, but what about overall performance?
I ran a Quadrant benchmark yesterday and the result I got seemed lower than the result when using the stock LG Android 4.1 V20A. Has anybody else noticed this?
I just ran another benchmark using Quadrant on CyanogenMod 10.1 RC2 and the result was 4265. But on the stock V20A I got 5120. This means that the benchmark was better on the stock V20A.
Isn't CyanogenMod supposed to improve performance? I know it is an RC but that means that it is close to stable which could mean the stable will have a similar result to the RC? Please let me know what any of you fellow LG Optimus 4X HD users think about this, and maybe run some tests of your own?
Thanks
Hello, from what I heard, CM team is first fixing all the problems and making everything work right. After that, they will focus more on speed and performance. I also have higher benchmarks on stock V20a then on CM 10.1 RC2 (or any other version) but still everything seems smoother and faster than on stock.

Thanks for the reply. It does feel smoother and faster on CM 10.1 than on the stock which is why it surprised me when I found the benchmark got a lower result. If what you heard is true then eventually the CM 10.1 should get results just as good, if not better than the stock V20A.
BTW where did you hear about this? Just wondering...
It was not announced officially or something like that, I just read somewhere on these forums some time ago, I don't know in which thread sorry but I kind of agree with that. Anyway, I don't really trust those benchmarks. I rather like to try some games for example and then make a comparison. (If it runs smoother, faster without lagging etc.)
Ok thanks. I get your point. If things do run better overall then its probably better to stay with it. You just go with what's best for you. I didn't really see much of a difference when I tested games on CM 10.1 yesterday, and some apps loaded faster than they used to.
be careful here
nightlies/RCc/stable versions say nothing about the actual speed/performance of the phone. these names are for the whole CM system on every phone, not the device specific stuff. therefor you need to look at github on what's changed for our phones
Also, please use the Q&A section next time
Ok thanks for the tips
Is RC2 enough stable or stock is better? There is two nightlys after that. Which should I choose, RC2 or latest nightly?
