Also, anyone experiencing a hot battery? Cripes does mine get hot!!!!
THANKS. This is my first post!
I am a newbie to Android and just got the Captivate. I figured out the JH2 thing. My apologies. I'll do more research before asking a question like this!!!!!

Currently running biffmod, and like it as far as speed and stability.
But... My battery will show 75%-Full and my phone just dies unless plugged in.
Not sure if this is a common issue. I already have a new battery on the way I ordered from one of the recommendations in another forum thread here.
Just curious if there is something I can do in the meantime.
In the top of this section there is a thread similar to this...

BTW, try to recalibrate battery.
I have battery problems too (I have a new battery ) , I'm trying to solve.
I think we can continue to the other thread. So we can talk about general battery drain on froyo roms.
Thanks for the quick reply and link to the other thread, I've actually been reading frequently and everyone else experiencing the same exact problem fixed it with a new battery.
The phone was purchased used so of course this is logical, and probably the case.
I have a new battery on the way.. So I'm sure I will get sorted once that shows up.
In the meantime going to re-calibrate it, thanks again, and will let the thread die now.

axura was a great rom and the first I flashed but the battery consumption was attrocious. It was an awesome performer, the best out of what I tried
But at this time I have no car charger, the power is still only trickling
I dont have my screen in torch mode.
Its a big problem because you can actuall see the power go down, I was losing 1 percent about every 2-3 minutes, no lie! I was watching it all as it happened
It performed great and its a great rom just not for me, because right now I dont own a car charger not that i dont have the money to get it...I just havent
i have a samsung captivate and just finished rooting to 2.2 with a few goodies. im a total noob and it took me awhile to get the nerve up to do it. well my girls phone is a hero for sprint and her upgrade isnt untill may so i thought id see what i can do for her phone. i was hoping can anyone point me in the right direction on how to update the old 1.5 software to something new and better performing. like 2.1 or maybe 2.2. but the simplest way possible please. i dont want to have a bad ass rom and crazy mods just something very stable and easy to do. any help will be awesome! thanks guys, jimmy.

Well for one i don't know if this is the right forum but ill post this anyways. Ok, so my Captivate is running Cognition v2.3b8 and for the month or so that i have had it, i love it. But recently my phone has been freezing a lot and taking more then usual to load apps. I also have noticed a massive decrease in battery life, it barely makes it through 12 hours. But the strangest thing has to be that the phone itself physically gets very hot to the touch. I have to turn it off multiple times during the day to cool it down. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Open 'OS Monitor' and see for any stray process on ur phone. (U can download OS Monitor for free from market.)
You should post this in the Cognition thread in the Q&A subforum.
I think I would probably upgrade from 2.3b8 myself. 2.3b8 is built off older test versions of 2.2 that were leaked out months ago. Cognition 4.1.1 is the latest built off of the official 2.2 KB1 release. Design Gears has said that he is also working on another update to Cognition based off source that was released.
So, I'm not a complete noob, been flashing roms since around February.
I do however have a noob-ish question, that I've put off asking for awhile now, in hopes that I would find an answer first!
I absolutely adore Cezar's roms (I wonder if he's single... oh wait, wrong forum) and I like Serendipity VII as well.... but neither seem to have the battery life that GR-12 does on my phone. (definitely more than 18-20 hrs)
So, I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions and or first hand on this? I want to rock Continuum, but battery life is important for me... sometimes at work without the opportunity to charge.
I like GR-12 also, don't get me wrong... but the newer stuff comes with bells n whistles.... and yet, that damned battery gets in the way!
Thanks!

Wrong forum????
there are little things you can do to help save battery life and also apps in the market to aid with this sort of thing. I don' think your gonna be able to have the rom of your choice with the battery life of your choice .. how sweet that would be though.
Some kernels allow for UV and that will save you a little battery.. also make sure you don't have a lot of apps running at once.. or you status bar only has icon's up there that need to be.
Thanks Corey!!!
