Currently running biffmod, and like it as far as speed and stability.
But... My battery will show 75%-Full and my phone just dies unless plugged in.
Not sure if this is a common issue. I already have a new battery on the way I ordered from one of the recommendations in another forum thread here.
Just curious if there is something I can do in the meantime.
In the top of this section there is a thread similar to this...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=836987
BTW, try to recalibrate battery.
I have battery problems too (I have a new battery ) , I'm trying to solve.
I think we can continue to the other thread. So we can talk about general battery drain on froyo roms.
Thanks for the quick reply and link to the other thread, I've actually been reading frequently and everyone else experiencing the same exact problem fixed it with a new battery.
The phone was purchased used so of course this is logical, and probably the case.
I have a new battery on the way.. So I'm sure I will get sorted once that shows up.
In the meantime going to re-calibrate it, thanks again, and will let the thread die now.

Hi,
I tried all andriod rom that found on this forum. Most of them is fine except the battery life issue. Could you tell me which rom works with good battery life? Where can I find it?
Thanks.
People like you shouldn't be allowed on the internet.
There is no battery efficient Android yet.
If you had read so much as one thread before you posted, you would understand that Android is still in a quite early stage on the Xperia, with both battery issues and non working functions.
So please, Either read the threads first or leave the internet.
battery is still a current issue like many other functions - noticed that was your first post - please read most of the threads before asking any questions
oooh please, if you look 2 threads down youll seee a one called improving battery live.
like frier sad android on x1 is not close

1. battery life + stability (biggest problem for all ports)
2. wifi, gps, bluetooth (solution is there especially for wifi, just needs to be implemented correctly)
3. camera (im sure the solution isnt that difficult)
4. a nand flash so we can create android ROMs for x1 (this one might never happen, would be great though because SD cards can crash easily. i also read that they found a solution for the diamond or tp2? dont remember exactly)
hmm..so the only REALLLL problem is battery life and stability which most likely go hand-in-hand. android on the x1 is damn close, but our devs seem to have left us ..
hmmmmmm goin to get x10.
Oh, Thanks. I will read more threads for that.
I am new to posting here, and unfortunately can not yet post in the Dev section, so I have to ask this question here:
I have a US TMo Tab, and after disappointing experience with the stock ROM, began flashing custom ROMs from OC 1.4 to Overcome 1.6, and have had nothing but great experience with all of them (and donated more than once to the coffee funds of the devs). They were faster and smoother by far than the stock TMo.
When 2.0.0 came out, I started with the beta installation, and have followed the instructions meticulously as a good noob should do (I have enough experience in IT to know what I don't know and to RTFM).
These are not in the FAQs or answered in the Dev Boards, so here are my questions/issues to report:
I have had a radical drop in battery life - 9 hrs. average with 1.6, 4-5 hrs. now, and no change or addition of apps to speak of. I am holding out as others are now reporting this to see whether it can be fixed before backing out to the earlier version, because of the significant improvement in the Browser and some of the other GB enhancements (kick me, I like Daily Briefing now!).
The biggest problem I having is that since the GB upgrade, the Roto Modem Switcher (enriched his coffee fund as well as Alterbridge and Darkpal's) now goes through the switch, but the script errors out and the screen runs into a series of red lines, I think, when CWM/reboot is invoked, so each time I run this I have to manually reboot the unit. I have seen several posts on this but no concrete answers and I am wondering if anyone can shed any light on what I might be able to try to restore this please.
Many thanks in advance for any help.
Hello,
Sorry I can't be of help, but just want to let you know something.
Don't post your questions in dev section, the response can be pretty offensive.
The dev section is for developers only, so you can reply to overcome 2.0 thread if you have a question or an overcome problem reporting thread if they have one. Posting a question there ... is just inviting flame, happened a lot to xda newbies(myself included).
As far is know about overcome, the current 2.0 gold still has some bugs and the most stable one is still the old 1.6.4. I am still waiting for the stable version of 2.0.
@jpnaggy -
Thanks for the sage advice. I see a lot of that there, and some of it is sound flaming - folks don't follow all the instrux and ask questions that have been answered, sometimes just can't read the thread.
It seems Alterbridge and his devs are a little more tolerant than most, and they really do try to help people out, moreover, they encourage feedback so long as it is constructive because it drives improvements to future releases.
That said, I will keep my fingers crossed that someone can assist here, and really do thank you for the warning. I won't post anything unless it is concise and precise, and unless I have scoured the prior posts in vain for an answer.
Cheers!
are you sure u want to ask a question here in GENERAL section and not in Q|A section ?
Manual rebooting is the new procedure.
Try googling "battery drain galaxy tab" and see where that takes you.
Turn off auto syncing of everything for a day and see what that does. Check your display settings - brightness, color density .
Thanks all!
My bad for posting in the wrong area - thanks @k0sh for the well-deserved dunning. Guess they don't call us noobs for nothing!
@ranger - have googled battery drain for two days straight, and am reading all I can on this.
The problem most definitely started after the last flash - I figured it was a good idea to reset the battery stats since I had done so good on Alter's 1.6 and realize now I should probably have left it alone.
I suspect that had I done so, it would have remained good or gotten better, and it is possible that this explains to some degree why there is such a disparity in battery life others are reporting.
I will patiently await the next update, and promise to post in the right place from now on. Thanks again all for your assitance!

What i like on you that you understand and accept tye fact that you are not gonna post any thread on the wrong section , i was like u also , lmao.
About the battery could u reverse back to froyo then to gingerbread then to beta2 and then update to Rc1 and then to gold . And see how it will work

Okay!
Thanks gentlemen, to you both. After an arduous weekend of flashing and re-flashing I think I may be getting better at this (of course, I am not taking off the training wheels - I follow the Overcome Guide line by line each time because it is way too easy to make a mistake).
First - I flashed back to 1.6 (because I can't stomach putting stock T-Mo back on my Tab no matter what!) - and that went fine. Then I upped to GB using the instrux in Gold's upgrade, then I reflashed current Gold (oh, where is Hermes already? I know, I read the State of the Union, and all the comments on your Dev thread, and I am patiently waiting for more OC Perfection!). But this time, I did one more thing - I took a look at the bloat that was all over my Internal and External SD cards, carefully, just to make sure I wasn't dragging something bad back in. The directory structure on my external SD was SWISS CHEESE - directories nested under one another (e.g. \titanium bu\titanium bu, data\data, etc.).
Gotta think my quick fingers got the better of my slow brain, but since this was such a mess, and I know there is nothing on the internal SD after a full wipe (what, three times with all the re-flashed ROMs) and the Dalvik wipe to boot, I decided to use a Market Backup, just to keep a list somewhere of all my installed Apps (currentl number 247). And this time, I installed them all one by one, rather than restore them from TB.
And this time, no lag, and VERY little noticeable battery drain (@rangercaptain - thank you again!).
@k0sh - You are brilliant! Your suggestion got me thinking this had to be a self-inflicted problem and you were spot on!
So now that you spent all this time helping out a Noob, I am anxiously waiting for the next iteration of Overcome, and this baby is flying right now! Woo hoo! Thanks to you both!
So, I'm not a complete noob, been flashing roms since around February.
I do however have a noob-ish question, that I've put off asking for awhile now, in hopes that I would find an answer first!
I absolutely adore Cezar's roms (I wonder if he's single... oh wait, wrong forum) and I like Serendipity VII as well.... but neither seem to have the battery life that GR-12 does on my phone. (definitely more than 18-20 hrs)
So, I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions and or first hand on this? I want to rock Continuum, but battery life is important for me... sometimes at work without the opportunity to charge.
I like GR-12 also, don't get me wrong... but the newer stuff comes with bells n whistles.... and yet, that damned battery gets in the way!
Thanks!
Friday
Wrong forum????
there are little things you can do to help save battery life and also apps in the market to aid with this sort of thing. I don' think your gonna be able to have the rom of your choice with the battery life of your choice .. how sweet that would be though.
Some kernels allow for UV and that will save you a little battery.. also make sure you don't have a lot of apps running at once.. or you status bar only has icon's up there that need to be.
Thanks Corey!!!
Wanted to give CM a shot again, getting the same results as the last time i tried it.
My results with pinnacle 1.2:
Everyday I leave for work at 630, and when i leave at ~3, depending on how much i use the phone, im usually at 70-80 percent.
If i dont use my phone at all, and am in an area of good service. It usually drains at about 1% per hour.
My results with CM7 nightly - stock kernel
I left for work today at 630, have barely used the phone, because i wanted to test its standby drain, and im already at 70 percent (down 30% in 5 hours) The performance is great, but i cant live with battery life like this.
Is there anything i can do to fix this? And please dont tell me to do things like turn off sync, and all that crap, because i bought the ****ing phone in order to do these things. If i wanted a phone that was just a phone, i would have gotten a blackberry or some other regular phone.
If i can do these things in pinnacle and get good battery life, im not going to give them up in cm just to get battery life that is closer to pinnacle.

Just my opinion, but if battery life was better for you on another rom, and that's important to you, why switch?
If you're really looking at CM7, maybe you should research what modem you had on pinnacle and see if there is a CM'ed version of that one available. That alone could be part of what you're seeing. You could also try a kernel like Glitch and see if OC/UV is something that would help. Also take a look at the battery stats and see which processes are near the top - that's usually an indicator of what areas of the phone you should focus on first.
And, although I understand you're frustrated, please watch the language.

Because as stable and good on battery as it was, i just needed something different. And dont get me wrong, I love CM7. Its awesome besides the battery issue.
I started this thread before i flashed to try to get an idea of what i should use: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1347952
Someone did make that modem for CM, but from what i hear, the call quality isnt great, and the other person hears a lot of static. Weird because its awesome in Pinnacle.
Going to try glitch, but i wanted to get an idea of how the stock kernel worked before comparing it to glitch. Probably will end up doing a OC/UV, but i wanna at least see if i can get decent battery first before i do that.
Cell standby is accounting for double of what anything else is listed is, which hopefully means that if i get a better modem, then it might fix that.
And didnt mean to come off as an ass, i just hate when people suggest things like that to fix battery issues. Ive read in other threads people suggesting that, and really, why even have a smartphone if your gonna limit it that much? I dont go crazy with any widgets or any apps that would cause that, but turning off sync and things like that are just crazy.

Sounds like a good plan. If you haven't checked it out yet, I think that Oxicottin has a list of modems and where they work somewhere in the Dev thread - that might be a place to start your search for modems.
you call quality sucks because CM7 lacks the audience chip support that is native to all I897 ROMS.
So again call quality and great battery life or CM7? You might want to try some of the newest KK2 Rom builds like Luminance or Legendary.

CM7 threads belong here, in the CM7 Q&A thread.
Hi,
I found myself getting annoyed at these rather low battery rates that come with the stock 1500mAh, so I figured I wanted a new one. Now my question to you is: what are your recommendations? Should I buy a similar replacement like the one from stock or should I buy a better one or even a third one as well?
I found some other threads here too, but they were all about choosing between one or two batteries, so nothing there.
I don't want anything bulking in my pocket or not fitting my cover so, preferably, it should be stock sized
Any help would be appreciated, and please if you have any specific suggestions please incl. links

Did you try to flash some ROM's and kernels? Updated BB and RIL?
That can make a huge difference, but it depends what you expect to get. One day of use is not a problem, full two days in most cases require giving up on some functions that make a smartphone what it is. But that is considered normal for almost any phone in our class.
I could recommend you Django Manouche 1.1 (1.2 is in the works) with Spica kernel, simplest one without OC and CC. Great combo, very similar to stock ROM, quick and battery friendly
If that won't be good enough, well... you already have some extensive battery related threads here. I see 6 of them on the first page.
At the moment im running owain's kang build:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1517301
this is however slightly battery draining and I can merely make my phone last a day, but I don't really want to compromise these awesome ics features,

as for this, I mentioned earlier that these were not very useful, as they did only regard one or two battery models
