[Q] Unable to update.zip -- Installation aborted - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I hope this is a acceptable area to ask this:
I was trying to install a boot animation, more specifically the android peeing on apple. I tried the 480x800 version and got this:
# MANUAL MODE #
--Appling Muti-CSC...
Installing Muti-CSC
--Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
Installation aborted
any ideas on what I did wrong?

I do not believe our phones are compatible with the standard bootanimation.zip updates. Our boot animations are stored in a qimg (or something, can't remember off the top of my head) image. We're able to move qimg's from other galaxy s devices to our own and even change the poweron/poweroff sounds because they aren't stored in the same place, but I don't think someone has managed to get a custom bootanimation.zip file working on our phones

Verifying update package...
Installing update...
Formatting SYSTEM...
Copying files...
E:Can't symlink /system/xbin/[
E:Failure at line 25

[Q] [Help] G1 Stuck in Recovery Loop

As the title reads, I am stuck in a recovery loop. I've looked everywhere on the internet. I have seen other threads with the same problem but no sign of a fix I tried flashing the DREAIMG.nbh but it won't lood into fastboot. Also from startup of recovery and after pressing Alt+L, it reads this:
Code:
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command
Also trying to install an update.zip of any sort will come down to this code:
Code:
-- Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
Installing update...
Installation aborted.
So has anyone found a fix at all for this? Recovery is the only thing that it will boot into except fot the radio bootloader (Trackball+Power)
I also am having problems with this. It loads into recovery mode even if I'm holding down camera+power. I have tried using several update.zip files and no luck. Has anyone figured out a solution for this?
also need help with this and no one seems to kno of a fix smh

[Q] Rooting Rogers Captivate (with Mac).. HELP!

Hey everyone!
I'm having some big problems trying to root my Captivate with Rogers. I have tried a bunch of different methods, and every time I try and load the phone in recovery mode (re-installing packages) I get this error:
Installing Muti-CSC
--Install from sd card...
Finding Update package...
Opening Update package...
E: Can't open /sdcard/update.zip
(No such file or directory)
Installation aborted.
I'm not quite sure what I'm doing wrong. I've done the "one click" roots, and several "manual" roots. I only have a mackbook, so it's hard to do the manual ones..
I've been copying the "update.zip" file onto my sd card from my desktop, but this error has been coming up consistently no matter what I do to try and root the phone.
Anyways, if someone could help me out, It would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Cyanogenmod's GAPPS package is at the bottom of the following page:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Gapps#Google_Apps
Simply flash through ClockworkMod Recovery. You will then have Market, GMail, etc.
And another which i'd like to know is about the camera, there's loodz of black dots when camera is opened

please help me i got no idea hoe to go about it ......when i checked the open recovery folder it did have the update.zip file .......
thanks in advance .....hurry guys
You shouldn't put the update.zip file in OR folder. As the error message showed you should put it in your sdcard root directory and keep it as update.zip.
Good luck to you!
Thanks mate ! fixed that extremely happy bout it !

Are u sure that there is a update.zip file on your sdcard?
If not,u'd better to figure it out in the bandboard'Motorola Milestone Android Development'.
This is a duplication and is already solved.
To Abu3792: Please edit this post and mark it as solved, thanks.
And what was the solution ?
I suppose you forgave to flash the vulnerable recovery.
