[Q] Pure with Battery warning - Touch Diamond2, Pure Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Folks I need a hand here, I have a Pure, it suddenly after a normal charge, started giving the "warning battery too low device will shutdown" message right on the AT&T screen, and goes off. I tried a different battery with no luck.
I was planning change the ROM to any other, but when trying to run the .exe to get the onlinex 1.83 I get a message stating that phone is not synchzed, well I cant get it synchzed cause it does not load WM.
Please advise, any with this problem?
Thank you very much guys !

You need to provide better details.
What have you done? Did you attempt to flash a custom ROM before you HSPL'd? Why wouldn't WM start?
2 Things you need to look into, syncing through bootloader mode and recalibrating your battery.

Well I didnt provide details cause I was looking forward to find someone with the exact same problem. Some details here:
-Hard reset several times.
-tried powering on connected to the charger as well as disconnected.
-tried with and without sim card, also with and without memry card...just in case.
-Original ROM, phone is not modified.
-it enters in bootloader mode and its recognized as usb device by the pc.
-tested the battery and it holds the proper readings for V and A.
-left battery out for a night... .still the same.
phone will not load windows, it gets to the AT&T splash screen, 3 to 5 seconds after displayes de red letters on top: Warning Battery level too low your device will shut down.
how do I synch thru bootloader?
Thanks.

Snyc was a poor choice of words, I meant connect to PC.
It almost sounds as if HSPL began to flash then crashed, leaving your phone in its last state.
Was the battery low when you attempted to flash HSPL?
Does the light indicate charging when connected to AC?
I would try to find your stock ROM, sounds like your on the AT&T Pure? You'll find that on HTC's site, connect in bootloader and attempt to flash the stock ROM.

no no guys, I haven´t even try to flash the HSPL, I just booted the phone in bootloader mode to make sure it was able to connect to the pc, but thats it.
it does turn to usb mode. it is recognized.
the phone started with this problem suddenly, pretty much stock, no mods on it.
Yes, the light turns on, it charges and if I try this batt in another telephone, it works perfectly. Now, other batt on this phone gives the same problem.
What I WANTED to do is to change the ROM to other than stock to see if it would fix the problem, but I cant even sync the phone to change the SPL. so I cant flash the cooked ROM.

is there a way?
is there a way to change the SPL to HSPL using the memory card? and then also change the ROM using the SD ? please share any info that may help, so dissapointed with this phone.

I do not think HSPL 1.83 will flash though SD Card, but 2.51 should, however 1.83 must be flashed first.
Find your stock ROM, through HTC's site using your S/N probably.
Once you find it, connect to your PC in bootloader mode and run the .exe for your stock ROM. Hopefully this would restore your device, then you would be in a better position to flash HSPL.

so I dont need to have HSPL in order to RE-flash the stock ROM?, now just for the record, the phone does have the stock ROM installed, but if I could re-flash it back again without the HSPL that might do the magic and fix the BATT message right ??

HELP! Can't Load Rom - Don't Want A Brick!

Guys,
I just tried to upgrade to a new ROM on my Cingular 8125. I have upgraded from the original rom to a Mr. Clean AKU 2.3 Rom a while back. This time I tried to load Ell's AKU 3.2 Rom.
Anyway, my computer locked and restarted during the flashing process (99%)
My phone turns on and shows the colored bar screen (is this called the bootloader?). This is all it does. I'm not sure how to try and fix this. I'd like to try and reflash a rom; however, if I try to do that I get Error 260. This error says it can't find the phone which is easy to understand since Activesync can't connect since the phone won't boot.
HELP!

i had this very proglem... TURN OFF THE PHONE ASAP.. as the bootloader screen will drain your battery very quickly.... reset computer and phone... plus in the USB cord.. and in the booth loader screen in the lower left corner.. you should see USB!!! just flash workin room.. and you should be set to go.. i believe>.
When I plug the phone in it does show USB in the lower left corner; however, The rom update utility can't see the phone.
Am I doing something wrong or should I be trying to install the rom in another manner?

hmmm i dont know... try restarting both devices.. other then that i cant hlep ya.. im still new to this...
USB means it is connected.
Again, keep the battery out when you aren't doing the flash. Reboot the PC in case the link is down.
Try flashing a stable ROM, like the Mr. Clean one you used before. Activesync doesn't need to operate, the ROM will see the wizard if the wizard says USB.
Zonealarm actually interferes with my ROM flashes, although it prompts me to see if it is ok; you might turn off your firewall prior to doing the ROM flash. If you do so, disconnect from the web.
I have also the same problem with my XDA 2 mini or the other called this the HTC Magician. I try to UPgrade my Radio 1.03 to 1.12. and when im applying the upgrade procedure the Upgrading stops and error. What happen now is my XDA 2 mini or HTC magician doesnt open now. only the word "SERIAL" and when i plug the USB, the word "USB" show on the screen................... Is there some one can help me pleasssse with my problem....

oh my...did i brick my phone?

I cant believe this....I had no issues all day upgrading the ROM...until my PC overheated and shut off at 57%...
now when my phone starts up I see the 3 bars and it sais USB in the bottom left...but active sync is not connecting!
help!
what 3 bars?
a Red Blue Green Bars color?..
If that so.. you are too lucky..
I read a little more on the wiki:
Type 2a: When the phone boots, it goes directly to bootloader mode (tri-color screen)
This is what I have right now...I can't seem to get active sync to connect...although at the bottom of the screen it has "USB"
I have tried using mtty and dont think its diong anything...
Just stay in the bootloader (tri-color screen) and make sure the "USB" is shown in your device screen..
The reflash.. even if its not sync/connected.. just reflash the ROM..
Everything will be fine..
wow....i think it may actually work....that was SCARY.
nice to know the good ole button flash works when all others fail
I just want to make a clarification..
You are just flashing your device and when the upgrade process is on 57% your computer suddenly shutoff? and the upgrade was cut..
What happened next? did you reset the device then went to tri-color screen? or you just force bootloader mode it?
Yeah pretty much exactly what you said. I literally got up for a second to get some water, came back and saw the telltale sign that my pc had just shut itself off (the screen was black except for the standard boot junk that shows up).
So I look at my device (8125) and it was locked at 57% and was not responsive. I figured that the flash util probably wouldn't continue after the computer started back up (and besides, the device wasn't alive anymore) so I rolled the dice and unplugged the USB and took out the battery. When I put the battery back in and hit the power button, it went straight to the bootloader (the tri color screen).
- By the way - ive got the button image on here now - workin like a champ...
tnx for the explanation..
have fun!!..
thanks for the quick reply - i thought i was completely stuck but the button flash seemed to take care of everything. Makes me almost think that bricking this thing is near impossible... >
Yup!.. that also my conclusion.. its impossible to brick.. thats why i ask for your clarification..
What is this "button flash"? I am stuck in RGB boot mode with no activesync connection. I have read til my eyes crossed, but can not fix my 8125 (G3)!
Please advise.
How about more information? On your bootloader (Rainbow screen) what does it show the IPL / SPL to be? What were you trying to do when you got into this situation? What happened when you were flashing? Is your device a G3 or G4?
Safest thing for you to do right now is to flash your carrier's rom onto the phone (an official shipped ROM). With your phone in the bootload, just run the ROM and it will install (DO NOT RUN A CUSTOM ROM AT THIS POINT SINCE YOU HAVEN"T TOLD US ANY OTHER INFORMATION).
G3 8125
ipl/spl 2.25
Was trying to use faria's latest rom...got stuck at 99% for almost one hour, so I rebooted computer and discon'd the wizard. Now it will boot to rainbow screen and will not connect via activesync (so I can't utilize any other roms to get back to square one).
ActiveSync will NOT connect when you are at the boot loader. As long as you see USB in the bottom left of your phone (above the left soft key) then you can flash your original Cingular ROM and be good to go again.
brick, brick, brick
It happend to me too with faria´s new crossbow rom:
the device freezed at 99% and I reseted it then....nothing happend- bootloader mode: red green blue + usb... but no chance to flash ANYTHING... always the same message:ERROR (260) update error, no connection to the device...???
I tried the O2-mini s update, and the faria rom, no chance just a brick
I need help....

Why did you reset it??? All roms freeze. The screen that is flashing the ROM even says it can take up to 10 mins. If you don't get an error onthe PC then DON'T stop the flashing process.
Go get a copy of your carrier's official ROM (not a custom one, but an official one from your carrier.). Then with the phone at the boot loader (Rainbow screen) and the USB cord plugged, in, run the official ROM. If that doesn't work, then get a copy of the Wizard Love rom and flash it (You'll need to find links around here for it, or pull it via PirateBay). You may also want to reboot the PC you are running on and remove your SD card (if you have one) just to remove variables that can play in to all of this.
Good luck

Ten minutes is understandable, but mine stalled for about an hour at the 99% mark. Even my PC would not respond. Is that normal for a rom upgrade?

I was finally able to reset my 8125 to the Cingular ROM. Not sure why I couldn't do it on my PC, but after moving over to my wife's PC I did not have any problems.
Thanks!

No, that sounds like your pc locked up or something (I'd blame windows on that one )

Sorry, I may be missing your humor or sarcasm... Are you saying its dead (if so, give more details about what it does or doesn't do, IPL/SPL it shows (if it turns on), etc... If its now working, then congrats!

Is it bricked? (Upgrade ROM error)

(I'm not 100% sure this is the correct forum, but since it is very ROM related it didn't feel all wrong to put it in here...)
Hi guys. After som serious flashing of cooked ROMs I decided for some unknown reason that I should try to restore a stock ROM. Now, being very tired as I was, i completely forgott that its probably a good idea to flash a new Stock ROM on the unit BEFORE flashing it with a signed SPL....so I just flashed the Signed SPL to the device. That in it self seem to have gone ok, because when I start the unit it say "SPL-1.15.0000". Problem is though that it also says "Upgrade ROM error, please try again"
Now, what should I do? Have tried put both signed and unsigned SPLs on the storage card and started up via the volume down/pwr button thingy, but that does not seem to do anything. I have also tried to attach the unit to a USB port when in tricolor mode ("USB" shows up on the screen) and tried the CustomRUU program. It finds the device and starts to "upgrade" (grey screen on the device with 0%) but then it just doesnt seem to get any further...
As the device was working fine with a custom ROM before I started all this, I suspect that the main problem proably is that I now have a Standard SPL with a cooked ROM, and that they collide sort of. I, as well as the Blackstone, is now stuck and I am all out of ideas what to do? Have also tried Hard and Soft resets, but that doesnt seem to change anything.
Help!
try removing the SD Card and put the phone into bootloader mode and re-flash the stock ROM! if this doesn't work ... still with the SD Card removed try flashing to USPL and flash the stock ROM again!
hope this helps
You can try USPL on your HD and flash a custom or stock ROM with it.

Thanks for the feedback!
Just be be sure, "into bootloader mode" is when you start the device holding down volume down and powerkey until you see the tricolor screen? Then that is probably what I have tried to do for a while now without success (total success that is, I do get into the tricolored screen)). Or maybe I am doing something wrong, could you perhaps point to a detailed explaination besides the one in "HardSPL" thread?
USPL I havnt tried, will do that! Is it still so that trying to do USPL on Vista is asking for trouble?
I read somewhere that Stock ROMs should only be flashed from internal storage, not SD cards, is that true? If so, how do I go about accessing that storage now when it doesnt show up in the file explorer on my PC (PC recognizes it as USB device, "HTC Sync" but I get no file access to it).

bootloader mode is when you power off the device and hold the volume button down and press power till you get the tricolor screen...
so here is what you need to do .
1. remove the sd card
2. go into the tricolor mode connect your device to the pc and make sure it says (USB) at the bottom
3. run the stock shipped exe from you pc
if that didn't work then you should try the USPL version.. and there is a guide if you are using vista.. i just tried and worked fine.. here it is
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3331078&postcount=153
and the reason i'm asking you to remove the sd card because if you have a rom (blacimg.nbh) it won't let you do anything it will try to flash from the sd card and right now you don't want to do that.
and you shouldn't put any rom into the internal storage of the phone..

i don't think anything would happen... the file will get deleted when you flash as the rest of the files in the internal memory
Thank you everyone! The USPL thing solved it, when I did it from a XP machine! The once bricked Blackstone is not alive an kicking again!
About USPL, I saw the workaround for Vista, but downgrading a few components to make it work just doesn't seem like a safe way to do it. And I cant help but to think that it might have unwanted side affects, ie affecting system stability. But maybe I am wrong?
Going back to shipped ROM without bricking?
Hi,
After reading this thread I am now a bit worried and, as a newbie, would appreciate maybe a "simple" answer to my question.
I''ve been experimenting with various cooked ROMs after following the guide in the WIKI for installing HardSPL and then putting the ROM file (BLACKIMG.nbh) on my SD card and installing it using the power on + volume down button method.
However, I now want to revert back to the original "shipped" ROM, which I have downloaded from the list of shipped ROMs via the WIKI (I downloaded the one which closely matched what was originally on my HD - as I didn't know how to backup the actual ROM on my HD at the time).
So, my question:
How should I put the downloaded original/shipped ROM:
RUU_BlackStone_HTC_WWE_1.14.405.3_Radio_52.49a.25.26_1.09.25.14_Ship.exe
into my HD without bricking it?! Do I just run it on my PC with ActiveSync enabled or do I need to do something to remove the HardSPL or something first?
Sorry if this has been answered previously but I get confused when a thread just makes loads of references to SPLthis and SPLthat etc.!
if you have the HardSPL already installed on your phone then you don't need to do anything more.. just connect your phone to the pc and let it sync (activesync enabled) and flash to any shipped rom you want by simply running the exe file..

major trouble after attempting ROM upgrade

ok, so I tried to upgrade to 1.56 (stock), and yes I now have the dodgy looking screen and phone is stuck in 'Phone Off' mode.
I didn't think I needed to do anything other than run the exe from HTC.
so, anyway..yes I'm screwed.
I've got the list of instructions from an earlier post about flashing 1.56, and am trying to follow them (seems my phone has Olinex1.14 on it - which I've never used as I've never flashed this phone before)
but..I can't connect to my phone, when I plug the usb cable in, I get the screen which asks me which type of connections I want Active sync, disc drive etc, but the screen on my phone is totally unresponsive. the screen then disappears and I'm nowhere...
If I can't connect to my phone, how do I run the file to flash back to 1.14 as per the instructions?
thanks
hm i would try it in bootloader mode?

If you take the battery out and make sure the USB is not connected.
After a few seconds, put the battery back in.
Next press the down button on the side of the phone and keep it pressed, press the power button as normal.
Does anything appear on the screen?
Next, if you get the coloured screen with 'Serial' at the bottom, if you plug in the USB cable and connect to a PC, does 'Serial' change to read 'USB'.
If it does all of this, your phone is not dead.
I've had to try a different machine..which is working....thank god.
but the issue now is that our virus software is preventing me from downloading USPL2.5, is there another way to to use this file? I know that people have experience issues with this before (although not necessarily this particular file) and they have used a wrapper to bypass the virus protection pop up
ok..ignore that...I don't need it, my phone is not CID locked.
thanks to everyone though. I was in major panic mode for a while
I was going to try the Stock HTC ROM upgrade tonight, but my phone is an early Orange no splash screen or orange branding but it definately locked to orange....
do I have to unlock it prior to doing even the HTC ROM upgrade?

You may have to. Just try the rom upgrade. If it yells something about an "invalid vendor ID" just use USPL to apply the rom upgrade. If you need information on how look at the guide in my signature.

Yeah you can load any 1.56 rom whether it is cooked or original using USPL (if your SPL is 1.54.0000 in the bootloader).

Understood I was too my first time...

SE Updater failed to install new rom, what is the best thing to do now?

Hello,
I know you guys got some excellent walkthroughs, roms, programs and threads where you've helped a lot of people out but I could really use some personal feedback. I had hoped to fix my phone using one of the excisting threads but unfortunalty I can't get it to work with those.
My problem is one I've seen more of in here, I used the SE updater and it froze at 53%, I did what the program said, reconnected and it froze again at 12%, and again, again, etc. So I disconnected thinking it might be a bad USB port. But then the updater didn't recognise my phone at all. So I used the mtty program suggested in some of the threads and I got past the red/green/blue screen but now it's stuck at the Sony Ericson logo, as if WM6.1 is gone.
This is what the red/green/blue screen currently states:
KOV110
SPL-0.78.0000
MicroP1-787
MicroP2-707
From what I gather this means I can't flash roms, right? I tried making it a hard-spl but when I use the tool it says it can't connect.
So is there anyway to get a rom on it and bring it back to life?
Thanks inadvance!
Get an original rom from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=475482
copy .nbh file from the package onto your sd card and rename it to : Kovsimg.nbh then bring phone into boot loader via : vol down + power.
It should flash the rom now. i the problem is still present after that you
have to deal with mTTy but first try the flash...
i think you could also bring phone into bootloader without sd card inserted then connect usb cable, display should now print 'USB',and after that start rom update utility.

Thank you for your reply, I will do as you said although I've already tried something similiar to this. I believe the problem was that I couldn't flash roms from my SD since I don't have the hard SLD. But I will try it anyway as soon as I get home.
In the mean time I would love to hear more ideas about how to fix my phone.

You really need have to flash the HardSPL first as, based in your above post, you still have not done that. It will be useless to flash cooked ROM with that. If you can still power on your phone and you have an activesynch in your computer, i suggest you download the HardSPL first and update your phone using your PC. If you are successful doing that, then you can flash all you want.
original roms will still work with original spl... but nevermind =P

My phone can still power on in the sense that it shows the Sony Ericson logo or that I can access the three collor screen. But it won't launch WM6.1. I also have a problem with updating to hard DSL. It does recognise my phone because without it connected the program finds nothing and with the phone connected it wants to start updating. It says ''updating from image version: (emply) to image version: 1.00.X1 Ipress next and it opens a progress bar on both my X1 and the PC. But it never goes beyond 0% and then gives me an connection error. I think it has something to do with not being able to get passed the Sony Ericson logo. I mean the hard-DSL program does recognise my mobile but activeSync is never active because my PC doesn't recognise a WinMobile phone (since it wont go past the Sony Ericson screen)

Really? That might fix my device then. Could you suggest a rom from the long list? Perhaps one that works on all versions? Because I'm dutch but my mobile has always been in english so I'm not sure what rom version I had. Except that it was identified as an R2 Rom by the Sony updater before it killed my X1...
Go here
Find the latest stock rom for your country (and perhaps your carrier) and flash it
No need to have Hard SPL for that

Alright so I got an R1 original rom (I now realize that the R3's were originals aswell) and it worked! I'm not sure if it was the different rom or the formatting with FAT32 that did but it works again. So I'd like to thank everyone who was kind enough to reply.
The device is incredibly slow now but now I can use the hard-DSL installer, right? DOes anyone have a suggestion for a good rom to use?

DON'T hard-spl if you're going to flash a stock ROM. And especially if you're going to use SEUS.
Try flashing the R3A first. The R1s are way slow, as you've seen.
