ok, so I tried to upgrade to 1.56 (stock), and yes I now have the dodgy looking screen and phone is stuck in 'Phone Off' mode.
I didn't think I needed to do anything other than run the exe from HTC.
so, anyway..yes I'm screwed.
I've got the list of instructions from an earlier post about flashing 1.56, and am trying to follow them (seems my phone has Olinex1.14 on it - which I've never used as I've never flashed this phone before)
but..I can't connect to my phone, when I plug the usb cable in, I get the screen which asks me which type of connections I want Active sync, disc drive etc, but the screen on my phone is totally unresponsive. the screen then disappears and I'm nowhere...
If I can't connect to my phone, how do I run the file to flash back to 1.14 as per the instructions?
thanks
hm i would try it in bootloader mode?

If you take the battery out and make sure the USB is not connected.
After a few seconds, put the battery back in.
Next press the down button on the side of the phone and keep it pressed, press the power button as normal.
Does anything appear on the screen?
Next, if you get the coloured screen with 'Serial' at the bottom, if you plug in the USB cable and connect to a PC, does 'Serial' change to read 'USB'.
If it does all of this, your phone is not dead.
I've had to try a different machine..which is working....thank god.
but the issue now is that our virus software is preventing me from downloading USPL2.5, is there another way to to use this file? I know that people have experience issues with this before (although not necessarily this particular file) and they have used a wrapper to bypass the virus protection pop up
ok..ignore that...I don't need it, my phone is not CID locked.
thanks to everyone though. I was in major panic mode for a while
I was going to try the Stock HTC ROM upgrade tonight, but my phone is an early Orange no splash screen or orange branding but it definately locked to orange....
do I have to unlock it prior to doing even the HTC ROM upgrade?

You may have to. Just try the rom upgrade. If it yells something about an "invalid vendor ID" just use USPL to apply the rom upgrade. If you need information on how look at the guide in my signature.

Yeah you can load any 1.56 rom whether it is cooked or original using USPL (if your SPL is 1.54.0000 in the bootloader).

I have an 8125 that I can't seem to get off of the RUU screen. It shows IPL 2.25.0001 and SPL 2.25.0001. Every time I try to use the HTC software update it reaches 95% and then errors out. Any idea how I can get this phone working again?
Thanks,

you have a G4 wizard, you need to install the wizard love rom. I believe if you read around, you may be able to find out where to find it. Also read some info about unlocking your CID and SIM for a G4 Wizard.

Hi there,
If you ever happen to get stuck in the IPL / SPL screen, try the following (it happened to me and I almost got a heart attack...):
"If your device doen't boot after flash procedure with my shelltool you should
1) Hold "Camera" while short pressing the "reset" button. Your device will enter in bootloader mode. You will se 3 stripes.
2) You should connect your usb cable to your device and pc and run RUU and flash this rom.

3) read my instruction once more and repeat all step by step. its very important!!"

Suggestion.
Go to IMEI Check, buy the unlock and have fun upgrading and downgrading your ROM.
It cost you some money but you can restore your device without to much trouble.
Best regards.

You can only unlock a G3 Wizard like that. G4's are different and have to be unlocked via imei check. The OP has a G4 based on their IPL/SPL they posted.
I can't seem to get my hands on this file. I've tried several places but no joy. Any thoughts on where I can lay my hands on the Wizard_Love ROM?

Got it and now the phone is working again!
So do I need to unlock the phone and install another ROM or will it work fine with this ROM?
Thanks, again for all your help!
T
Based on your original post, you have a G4 Wizard. You can't do the standard unlock like the stickies from Dr. P and Faria describe. You have to use the other sticky for installing roms with a CID locked phone. Your other option is to go to Imei Check and do their unlock (will cost about USD 40). Its all online (you give them your IMEI and some other info with your payment and then they send you the files to do the unlock). But even then, you still have to use G4 roms (so you need to be careful or you'll be back in this situation or worse).
BTW:I've never messed with a G4 Wizard so I'm only stating what I've read. Go read and re-read the CID Locked install procedure in the stickies to learn more.
Hello folks I desperately need help, Ive just bricked my brand spunky new wizard G4 IPL/SPL 2.21.0001. I tried to do a Rom upgrade from shipped Rom to WM6, xm6 by mfrazz. I went through the process to 99% and then the progress meter changed from blue to red 99%, it stood there for awhile and gave the Error code 302. The screen is now in rainbow colours, it doesn’t do nothing. I need help please.
Did you CID unlock ur phone first? ... flash it back to the cingular ship rom. www.htcamerica.net

Thanks for the advise, No I did not CID unlock it, I read some where in the post it’s wasn’t necessery to CID unlock G4 wizard, unless I was day dreaming! I need detail help pls, the wizard is not responding to a any treatment from it current state. It’s in the rainbow coma if I may call it, if I take out the battery it obviously goes off completely. If I put the battery back in the rainbow colours comes back on and it doesn't do anything. In This circumstance, how am I supposed to flash it back to cingular ship rom, please explain? Many thanks
All you need to do is download the official T-Mobile ROM from their site and re-flash it. The fact that you are in the "rainbow" screen is a good thing because that's the bootloader and where you need to be to flash. After that, you may need to go through all the postings about flashing a G4 again a time or 2 because if you had read them you would have already known how to fix this problem.
I HAVE THE SAME PROBLOM!!!! ok can some one please tell me what i need to do to fix this problom im at the rainbow screen and i am just stuck! is there anyway to just get my phone back to normal?????????
First, connect your phone to your PC. Don't use an USB hub, plug it directly into the PC!
Then, start the phone. When it is in "rainbow" mode, just execute the flash utility (the original provider ROM) on your PC to begin the flash process..
This should work!

So, you've decided that your shiny new toy isn't very well setup by default. You flashed a ROM and lo and behold, you missed some instruction somewhere and now you think it's bricked.
Here's the good news:
It's not bricked!!
Bricked means that it's dead and it's in no way or shape recoverable.
There is still a chance. (As long as you didn't try to hardSPL with another Device's SPL...)
All you have to do is:
For the WING:
Hold the Camera button and WHILE holding it, soft reset the device (that means press the little hole above the memory card with the stylus.) That will bring you to the bootloader. Now download the appropiate RUU and run that program. A few minutes later and your new shiny toy is back to it's crappy OEM but working self!
I'll put in links for those who can't find them...
Here's tmobile's ROM.
WOW! That´s all??
Ok - then provide us a link to a XDA Terra RUU!!!!!!
hahahaha. Thanks for this help. Maby for some people it is usefull - but written 1000 times before.

I used the hardSPL from this thread..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=358225
It worked successfully and I was able to restart into WM6. Then I tried loading the TouchIT 4.4 and it installed cleanly with no errors. But when I went to restart it, my Wing just sits there at the CanonYang boot screen and never changes.
I tried using the steps here to restore the tmo default rom, but it after 1% on the progress bar, the screen goes blank and the CanonYang screen comes back. Is there anything I can do?
edit: I can get to the bootloader screen with the color bars. I'm not sure if this additional info will be of any help.

So going back to stockrom--> delete the SPL.nbh from EVERY RUU you are running.

Big Thanks papa! That did the trick. My Wing is happy once again and running Open Touch. But I still want to give TouchIt another try.
And what if i cant find stock RUU mine came with some arabic keyboard and spl was 1.08 , thanks to Oli he didnt mention that SPL should be 4 or higher , so device is bricked since first Olis release and no way to find this arabic stock RUU.
Any Help ?????
Hitec
If the device had an spl of 1.08 prior to HardSPLing it, then you'll have to bring the device to your nearest repair center. There isn't a way around that. Oli doesn't know everything and that's the risk we take when we try new and experimental things that people create but have no way of testing. But, we live and learn. If it wasn't for that issue, you could always cook your own ROM and if the HardSPL was working, you could've easily flashed any ROM. But the keyboard wouldn't been wrong until you could find someone who had the correct keyboard and you extracted the ROM from it and cooked that keyboard driver into your ROM.
Oh noooo!!
Hi ivanmmj,
I used your guide to flashing my HTC P4350 at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=358615.
It was in French and I wanted it in English. So I downloaded one of the official HTC ROMs "HTC_P4350_WWE_4.17.405.2_4.1.13.44_02.94.90_Ship.exe" assuming this was the English one because all the others couldn't have been.
I copied the "RUU_signed.nbh" from the above HTC ROM and put it into the RUU folder as instructed by yourguide (I didn't copy the SPL.nbh file). I then ran the herald-uspl.exe and everything went fine until the RUU utility stopped with the error "invalid vender ID".
The RUU exited without completing, now all I get when the device boots is the screen giving my IPL (1.08.001) and SPL (1.08.001). How do I flash another ROM from this state? I can't do it the "normal" way because ActiveSync can't see the device. When I try to use the RUU tool that comes with your tool, the progress bar shows then it says the tool can't be used with my device.
Someone please help!

Oh wow. I'm so sorry. I think I may have forgotten to put up a warning for people that have an SPL lower than 4.0. Was your SPL lower than 4.0? If it was, you cannot use the USPL OR the HardSPL and they end up writing part of the ROM over your current SPL and brick the device. This, unfortunately, needs to be fixed by your local repair center. I'll talk to the Mods about unlocking that thread so that I can update it.

So i just attempted to flash my tilt.
These are the steps i did.
Used Jump SPL 1.56 Kais
Then flashed a Kaiser Custom RUU.exe
everything was good at this point.
I then attempted the Kaiser SUperCID tool
when i did the unlock radio is when the problem occurred. After initializing and completing the screen turned black and does not display anything after the 3g sreen. I have done several soft resets and am attempting to do a hard reset with the soft keys but all it does is restart the phone....
i am not able to do a hard reset via sys>clear storage since no screen is displayed
this is what my phone does show
the tri color screen is this
kais1*0
spl-3.28.Hard
cpld-8
and it says security unlocked above all of that.
The ATnT screen shows this
R 1.70.Olinex
G 25.65.30.04h
D 1.62.00.00
please help
You need to follow step 0. Too late know. Which includes having an actual "RADIO" ready.
1.70OliNex is not a Radio. Thusly the Device can't load the Phone. Find a Radio and Flash it

Before you go off.
Here's something to try. The SIM/CID Unlocker do not work with the stock rom and you should have put hardspl on there.
Setup activesync and make sure that it detects your phone. As long as activesync works, you should be able to flash the stock rom and radio on the phone (even if the display is blank).
1st use jumpspl
then put on hardspl (read and follow the hardspl instructions)
then upgrade to 6.1 ROM
Then Unlock
then reflash with the rom of your choice with the matching radio
you should be good to go.
well i finally figured out the hard reset, which i did. It booted up and i was able to do the screen alignment etc, but once i was on my actual home screen it CUSTOMIZED and loaded a bunch of who knows what and back to the blank screen...
well i do have hard spl 3.28. I will try again....Im also not sure if my phone is 6.0 or 6.1

If you have hardspl on there, then just flash one of the cooked roms on the phone. I loaded the L26 Rom and it works great. It will include a radio firmware and is compatible with the SIM/CID unlocker.
the question i have is how do you flash without being able to execute the program from the phone? How am i able to execute it from the active sync?

Have you connected it to the computer via usb? Does activesync see the phone? You won't see anything on the phone itself until you correct the problem. As long as the computer activesync sees the phone you should be able to flash it from the computer.
I had the same issue
Just follow the steps
get the SIM unlock code from the computer
then flash a "real radio"
Once it finishes and boots up
it will ask you for the sim unlock code
AND VIOLA!!!
got it going
flashed it from my mini sd card after fat32 formatting it.
works like a charm
Thanks to everyone
Hello,
I know you guys got some excellent walkthroughs, roms, programs and threads where you've helped a lot of people out but I could really use some personal feedback. I had hoped to fix my phone using one of the excisting threads but unfortunalty I can't get it to work with those.
My problem is one I've seen more of in here, I used the SE updater and it froze at 53%, I did what the program said, reconnected and it froze again at 12%, and again, again, etc. So I disconnected thinking it might be a bad USB port. But then the updater didn't recognise my phone at all. So I used the mtty program suggested in some of the threads and I got past the red/green/blue screen but now it's stuck at the Sony Ericson logo, as if WM6.1 is gone.
This is what the red/green/blue screen currently states:
KOV110
SPL-0.78.0000
MicroP1-787
MicroP2-707
From what I gather this means I can't flash roms, right? I tried making it a hard-spl but when I use the tool it says it can't connect.
So is there anyway to get a rom on it and bring it back to life?
Thanks inadvance!
Get an original rom from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=475482
copy .nbh file from the package onto your sd card and rename it to : Kovsimg.nbh then bring phone into boot loader via : vol down + power.
It should flash the rom now. i the problem is still present after that you
have to deal with mTTy but first try the flash...
i think you could also bring phone into bootloader without sd card inserted then connect usb cable, display should now print 'USB',and after that start rom update utility.

Thank you for your reply, I will do as you said although I've already tried something similiar to this. I believe the problem was that I couldn't flash roms from my SD since I don't have the hard SLD. But I will try it anyway as soon as I get home.
In the mean time I would love to hear more ideas about how to fix my phone.

You really need have to flash the HardSPL first as, based in your above post, you still have not done that. It will be useless to flash cooked ROM with that. If you can still power on your phone and you have an activesynch in your computer, i suggest you download the HardSPL first and update your phone using your PC. If you are successful doing that, then you can flash all you want.
original roms will still work with original spl... but nevermind =P

My phone can still power on in the sense that it shows the Sony Ericson logo or that I can access the three collor screen. But it won't launch WM6.1. I also have a problem with updating to hard DSL. It does recognise my phone because without it connected the program finds nothing and with the phone connected it wants to start updating. It says ''updating from image version: (emply) to image version: 1.00.X1 Ipress next and it opens a progress bar on both my X1 and the PC. But it never goes beyond 0% and then gives me an connection error. I think it has something to do with not being able to get passed the Sony Ericson logo. I mean the hard-DSL program does recognise my mobile but activeSync is never active because my PC doesn't recognise a WinMobile phone (since it wont go past the Sony Ericson screen)

Really? That might fix my device then. Could you suggest a rom from the long list? Perhaps one that works on all versions? Because I'm dutch but my mobile has always been in english so I'm not sure what rom version I had. Except that it was identified as an R2 Rom by the Sony updater before it killed my X1...
Go here
Find the latest stock rom for your country (and perhaps your carrier) and flash it
No need to have Hard SPL for that

Alright so I got an R1 original rom (I now realize that the R3's were originals aswell) and it worked! I'm not sure if it was the different rom or the formatting with FAT32 that did but it works again. So I'd like to thank everyone who was kind enough to reply.
The device is incredibly slow now but now I can use the hard-DSL installer, right? DOes anyone have a suggestion for a good rom to use?

DON'T hard-spl if you're going to flash a stock ROM. And especially if you're going to use SEUS.
Try flashing the R3A first. The R1s are way slow, as you've seen.
