Clockworkmod recovery not booting after a full system boot - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anyone give me a explanation why after installing rom manager and the clockworkmod recovery i can imediatly boot into recovery, but after doing a normal system boot and try again do boot into recovery (through rom manager or even manualy pressing power + vol down) i can´t??? It stops at a black screen with a white exclamation triangle and a android icon. If i go through flashing the recovery again (in rom manager) and after that i press "reboot into recovery" it works well. But thats the only time i can. Meannig: i have to flash the clockworkmod recovery every time i want to go there. Is this normal? Is it rom manager? clockworkmod recovery? or the Android OS? I´m on a rooted Nexus with a unlock bootloader (androidroot) running stock froyo. What can i do to make the clockworkmod recovery stick?
I´m a newby in flashing roms, and i would love to try a modified rom. But for that to happen i need to have full trust in the apps i´m using to do that. Until now i can´t say that i feel confident to go through with the flashing process. Any help would be much apreciated.

I also have the same problem with AmonRA Recovery. After a long search for the answer thru google search, I found out that Custom Recovery won't stick with the Stock ROM. You need to flash your N1 with a custom ROM then only the Custom recovery will work. If you do a nandroid restore back to the stock rom, the custom recovery will disappear again. You need to reflash the custom recovery again to get you back to the custom recovery screen for flashing custom ROM.

Thank you for the quick answer

same problem with stock frg83
thank you taksei
EDIT: found how to disable:
mv /system/recovery-from-boot.p /system/recovery-from-boot.p.bak
mv /system/etc/install-recovery.sh /system/etc/install-recovery.sh.bak

If you would read the recovery installation instructions in Wiki, you'd notice the instructions for removal of those 2 files, that rewrite the recovery on system boot.

[Q] N1 won't boot into recovery

I installed CM6 stable on my N1 after performing a nand backup. I restored to the original rom today to check something out. Now I can't boot into recovery. I get the exclamation android Guy. I used amonRA. Any suggestions?
i've got the same error and i tried with awrecovery.img instead of recovery-RA-nexus-v1.7.0.img and its working

I think the stock ROM flashes stock recovery when you reboot. You are actually in stock recovery when you see that screen. Try hitting the volume down and power buttons at the same time. Same exact thing happened to me.
I just decided to skip the stock ROM for that reason.
I bet there is a workaround for it though.
One work around would be to flash recovery using rom manager.
pwig is right, you replaced your recovery with the stock one.
You need to re-root (if the stock isn't rooted - which I believe it isn't, since the only builds that include recovery are completely stock), and after rooting re-flash the recovery with Amon_RA's recovery.

Trying to flash Cyanogenmod, got stuck in recovery

I have stock N1 on 2.3.6, just unlocked the bootloader and now I'm trying to load a custom recovery image so I can put Cyanogenmod on there, but it won't go into clockwork mod. I can't get root either. Is there anyway to flash it?
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Nexus_One:_Full_Update_Guide
I went with Amon_Ra's Recovery instead of ClockworkMod Recovery and finally it worked.
Is it reverting to the custom recovery?
Edit: Ok glad you were able to solve it sorry i didnt read the other post!

How to install CWM recovery

Friends.
I recently installed fde rom having cwm recovery version 3.0.2. When I tried to return to gdx 28b it gave me an error and I accepted roms option of restoring recovery and could boot to gdx. But now the issue is I don't find cwm recovery when I reboot. How do I reinstall cwm recovery without going back to stock rom?

Can you boot in ROM? If so, boot in Fde, grab x8toolbox, plug phone in pc, enable usb debugging, and install CWM or FreeXperia recovery. If you can't boot into Rom, then shut your phone off. Turn it on again, press the screen repedeatly. If CWM doesn't show up, turn your phone off again, start it, and press&hold the volume down button until FreeXperia recovery shows up. If nothing shows up, flashtool is there for flashing ftf of stock rom.

Press thanks if i helped
It is clasic problem of stock kernel. There is no way without re flashing with flashtool .
Solved. After trying many things, went back to stock and repeated everything till gdx28.

I Saw that from web and I didn't believe it that time, so i installed CWM on a custom rom then it stucked at SE Logo.....

return from TWRP to CWM

currently stuck on AllianceROM, with TWRP installed flashed the fonts mod and stuck on N7000 logo, tried to install zip, but twrp being just totally useless and unable to let me scroll down the menu properly just swipe down and down and automatically selected a fold. and I'm totally done with this rom and twrp find my way out... do i just flash http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191 from there? and reboot into recovery and flash the rom i want?
Flash a stock GB ROM via PC Odin and root & install CWM on it.(See Dr.Ketan's thread for details).
Then do whatever you want.
Alliance is using safe kernel. Just follow the flash instructions of the new rom OP. That would be, I guess: Do all wipes -> flash rom -> enjoy.

Yeah, but it'll be better if he gets rid of TWRP first lest he do something wrong....

as far as i know CWM zip is not flashable in TWRP, and it is a pain to use, so only way to flash via odin back to stock? i remember it used to be able to flash CWM on its OTA but its no longer available

Rooted stock firmware won't run custom recovery?

Hello,
I've been running stock rooted 4.1.2 for a while but my phone randomly reformatted itself last night so now I'm going to keep regular backups of my Rom.
I tried to boot into. CWM Recovery but I keep getting the stock recovery.. if I use Rom manager and flash CWM followed by an automated "reboot into recovery" then it boots into CWM but until I reflash CWM within Rom manager I can only get stock.
I want to try a few roms out so I'd like to "permanently" flash a custom recovery before making a backup!

try philz touch, it has a function to remove the auto-flash stock recovery. Otherwise there's a method in the general root thread if you want cwm.
