Does anyone know of a way to fake a wifi connection? What I am wanting to do is use video streaming apps like TV.com to watch full episodes however that requires wifi... does anyone know of a way to do this?

Hey guys.. I read a LOT on here and I can't find anything in particular about the problem i'm experiencing. This is sort of a 2 part question..
I'm new to 4G and how network packets are routed, but maybe this is just a flaw in the application. Plex is an application you can install on your IOS or Android device that lets you stream media from your home. When I have my Streak 7 connected to wifi it works GREAT. If I turn wifi off and have it on 4G it wont load.. it's as if Plex doesn't even have a connection (in the application.. the rest of the device works great). If I go out to a 3G area the application works great again.
What gives? Does the development of an application need to accept different speed networks, or once the device is connected to the net (like any typical PC) the connection performance only works as good as your speed?
This really bugs me.. I was planning on using this application to stream movies while I'm out of town on business.
Thanks in advance!

The application doesn't support hspa+ if I had to make an educated guess. Similar things happen to my evo on wimax using other applications

is there an app that tricks the phone that its using WIFI instead of 3G or hsdpa? i have some apps that require Wifi to view . thanks
Highly doubt it because then the phone would try to use wifi for data. Most apps that require wifi due so because they need the speed from wifi

I'm just curious if anyone has found much use for Tasker on our non-phones. Most of the Tasker tasks I see seem to revolve around hardware the NC doesn't have: phone, GPS, camera.
I use tasker to tell wifi to not sleep when connected to certain networks and go back to sleeping when disconnected.

I am living in a university hostel with only ethernet connection so I decided to use Connectify to create a hotspot for my Note. However, my wifi connection always drops off when I watch videos from the YouTube app. Every other apps works perfectly except the YouTube app. I got no problem with other wifi though.
I'm running stock 4.0.4, not rooted or anything. Tried clearing the app data as well.
Any help?

In my Abo the mobile data of a streaming app don't count for the usage. So the streaming app has an unlimited data amount.
When i'm in wifi, the stream don't work well, because my parents are using the wifi as well, and our router isn't the newest one So I would like to run the streaming app always through mobile data to save capacity in the wifi. Is there any way to do that ?
P.S. I have root.
P.P.S. I hope this is the right place for this thread
P.P.P.S. I'm sorry for my english
Just turn off the wifi when you open the streaming app, that are only two clicks

Yeah I know that, but I want to use other apps simultaneously with wifi.
*push*
probably impossible, it will use one or the other when both are active, wifi takes preference over 3g unless the app itself has something to force it via 3g and bypass the wifi its unlikely
