[Q] Connecting Kies - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I recently purchased a Galaxy S, but I can't seem to connect to Kies. I've looked into the problem and found this thread.
"[Drivers] MS Windows x86 and x64 USB Drivers for Samsung Galaxy S" by |OP|
Tried updating using both files, but it keeps saying that my existing drivers are already more up to date.
I've also seen some stuff about reinstalling Windows Media Player 11, but I'm a bit leery about doing that.
I'm running Windows 7 64bit. Any thoughts?
Thanks!

I'm having the same problem. MTS drivers always fail to install. This is really frustrating. I've searched all over the web for an answer but nothing seems to work.
Windows 7 64 bit and rooted i9000 on bell

There are several threads on this subject already. starting a new thread will not bring new info. use the search button and read through the threads. you will probably learn about a bunch of other things while you are at it. When I couldn't connect that's how I found a solution.

HTC TyTN II - Sync with windows 7

I've recently upgraded to Windows 7 and am trying to get my TyTN II to sync. I've installed Windows Mobile Device Centre 6.1, however, installation keeps failing with the message 'Unidentified Device - Searching for Drivers' and then changes to 'Unidentified Device - Failed'
I've tried this a number of times and also tried searching for solutions over the net, but no joy yet. Just wondering if anyone out here has faced a similar problem and any solution exists.
Any help will be greatly appreciated

Tilt usb modem drivers do not work on vista business.

Hello,
I have searched thoroughly on this site and I cannot find any help. I used to have vista ultimate and I down loaded the usb modem drivers and it worked like a charm. I had to re image my pc and now I have vista business. However now when I try to load the drivers they do now show up on the device list and it does not successfully install the modem. Am I missing something? is there an updated driver? Can anyone please help or point me to where I can get some help. I really need to get back on line. Thanks XDA
I have a suggestion which might work.
Look at your device manager and see if there is anything on there thats coming up as unidentified... if there is, and with the phone connected to activesync so the PC knows the phone is there (assuming activesync is working), delete those entries one by one and when you delete one you need to click *scan for hardware changes under the *actions menu.
If you didnt start from scratch with the PC - IE format the hard drive and rebuild the system - that may mean there is a corrupt version of the driver still floating about and causing problems. This is why in the places I have worked we always backed machines up - did a full format - and then either imaged or rebuilt the box manually.
Another option is to go online to the manufacturers support site for updated drivers and install them from a location you have saved them too to your hard drive..
From my experience dealing with recalcitrant USB devices I would think that the first issue is more likely.
However there is another possibility that may be the root of the problem. I know that different versions of Vista support different connectivity options and setups - aka Vista Basic doesnt do Active Directory or Domains (im dredging this up from memory so its a little hazy). There is the remote possibility that the Business version doesnt support phones as USB modems, although I would be very surprised if that was the case.
It does strike me as a little odd that you have gone from one version of the same OS to a different version of the same OS and have had this sort of problem... but then Microsoft are known for compatibility gremlins - two words - Windows ME
Hope that helped.
I know, it is very surprising to me that now it does not work on Vista Business. You would think that it is basically the same OS but with less features. It is the 32 bit version. Its driving me crazy because I depend on it to do my work from my laptop and it just does not populate the device name when browsing and selecting the drivers. It sees the device it just does not pupulate. When I try to do the right click and install it does install it but it still does not show up under modems. If any one else has more suggestions I will greatly appreciate it.
No need to panic fello xda members and friends. It is all good now...i am typing thins theteering from my laptop through my tilt. Thanks xda you are the best. The speed trough my tilt is faster than my 2wire at home....ftw.:d

ADB on Windows 7 x64

Ok, I know there's a few of us who can't get this going. I've never had trouble until this week when I did a 'quick and dirty' move to a new pc without reinstalling Windows. I was actually quite impressed by the way Win 7 handled the move, since the new mobo was a generation newer than my old one. I went from ddr2 to ddr3, ICH9 to ICH10, etc. Lots of device / driver changes. I manually removed all of the 'invisible' hardware leftover from the old box.
But adb was hosed. No amount of driver uninstalling / reinstalling worked. That's extra ironic since I wrote the 'how-to' guide for installing on this OS.
I was able to get it working again. I updated the aforementioned guide here to reflect whatever @!#@&! was jacked up on my box. Maybe it will help one of you!

[Q] Drivers Not Installing Properly

Hey folks. I'm having a real hell of a time trying to figure out what going wrong in my attempts to recover my i896.
I can't seem to install the 64 bit drivers on my Win7 machine, nor can I get the computer to register the phone as a drive to which I can move files.
I'm stuck with a blank phone right now, and have been for two weeks, waiting on a jig in the mail. Now I have the jig, allowing me to put the phone in download mode, but I'm still stuck. I'd really like to fix this issue tonight, if anyone can help out. Thanks for any thoughts.
I've tried multiple USB ports, plugging things in different orders, and I've tried a couple different links to what I assume are the same drivers. I'm really hoping I don't have to send this in to get repaired.

I've seen a few people have the same problem with 64 bit machines, If you can find someone running XP and do on that machine. I still have my old XP box around just for these situations.
And until last month, I would have too. ~LOL~ I bailed on XP for this new 7 box. What about if I run in XP compat mode?
No go on the backwards compatibility mode. I tried those alternative drivers from softpedia to no avail also.
I'm starting to panic a little now. Have I boned my phone in it's little earphone hole?
i have several win7 64 bit machines working just fine. used the drivers from the Odin One Click thread.....
if you cant use those, then use AIO captivate toolbox with heimdall
The Toolbox drivers claim to have installed properly. I'm unplugging the phone, rebooting the computer, and trying Odin again. Hopefully this will work. FYI: I'm supposed to be in Download mode for Odin, right? The jig I bought puts the phone into Download mode, with an Android mopping.
Progress in Driver Installations!
Okay . . . I've finally found a little success here. The drivers have been successfully installed and I'm getting a happy sound when I plug the phone in instead of a confused sound. It says the device is ready to use instead of failed to install.
I got this success using the Toolbox. I installed the 64bit drivers from there. Thanks for the advice!

Bootloader/Fastboot With Windows 10

Hey all, I'm new to the forums and was wondering if anyone might have an answer to a problem I've been having.
I'm not too sure what information to provide, but just let me know what you need and I'll find it for you.
I've been using the HTC Desire C since September 2012 and lately I've been wanting more out of it since support has stopped, so naturally I wanted to find out how to root it. I began the process, but when I opened the bootloader/fastboot menus on my phone and plugged it in to my laptop (tried with the original micro USB cable too), Windows did not recognize the device. It does recognize it when the phone is booted normally. Now, I've had it working before, but I recently upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and I'm pretty sure that's where the problem started. I've tried downloading the latest sync manager from HTC, but that didn't help.
If anyone might have the slightest idea as to what might work, I'd be very happy. Unfortunately, using a different version of Windows or another OS isn't an option for me as all my family and friends have upgraded to WIndows 10 and I don't personally wish to roll back, so hopefully there's a solution out there that can work with Windows 10.
Thanks in advance for anyone willing and/or able to help me out.
