First things first guys allow me to introduce myself to the XDA Community. I have followed this community for a while but never posted much because I owned a Samsung Moment up to now. I'm active on AndroidMobileSupport (as Perdurablo) and SDX-Developers (same Dreamsforgotten). I currently port and create themes for the Moment and Epic.
This is my very first theme for the Samsung Epic and I began on it yesterday so it's still got a way to go. The theme incorporates the two major colors of the Maya, Green and Red.
First you need to root

I have this theme applied over the Andromeda Rom v1.0.3
but I'm assuming, as with most themes, that any deodexed theme will handle it. There is a confirmation of it running on Boss V.02 as well.
******I cannot post the link or images because of the restriction on my account lol. I've had to delete half of this post just to make it. So ask questions and I'll answer them and maybe I can post it soon. Until then it is being hosted on androidmobilesupport under the Epic 4g roms and development section. It has a maya disk as the unlock that you slide into a golden key. Maroon background on the pull status bar behind the widgets at the top. The background on ongoing items had mayah heads etched in grey. I have a picture coming here soon but due to restrictions LOL I can't post it for 5 minutes! Status bar is green fade to red and the text is red for titles green for secondary.

Looks sick! Only things I'm not a fan of are the spray-paint font of the unlock screen and the red characters/wifi bars in the notification bar (hard on the eyes). Otherwise looks awesome.
Good, this is the type of feedback I'm looking for. This theme is brand new and I'll be making changes accordingly. I'm currently looking for a font to better suite the unlock screen, I put that one there as a place holder to show where I'm going with it. I want something a little more block looking and thick to fit. The red ticker text I was swaying back and forth on, but I think I'm going to go back to black it will display the best. The Wifi will probably look better black as well. I brightened the red at first to make it stand out but it bled together and was hard to tell the difference between the bars. Black sounds the best. Please don't hesitate to keep up the feedback/bug report so I can make this better for everyone using it! I've only got about 8 hours in I plan it taking about 2-3 weeks minimal to be smooth across many phones!

Nah, j/k, but I'm not sure what one you are referring to as the notification bar. The grey background stacked with the 4 heads? That one is status_bar_item_background_normal.9.png and status_bar_item_app_background_normal.9.png. The maroon top with the widgets on it is in twframework-res.apk called status_bar_header_background.png. And the green fade to red status bar is in framework-res.apk called statusbar_background.png.

Thanks for making this! I'm glad you've joined the few that have taken the leap to theme the epic. Since you're asking for feedback, I'll preface this with the fact that I'm somewhat of a color nerd, -- so take it with a grain of salt
If you're using dark green (predominantly) and the magenta/purple color, I wouldn't use them right on top of each other, e.g. Purple text on Green background. They're pretty close to being complimentary colors which don't usually go well one on top of the other, or right next to each other. Personally, I think a really light green text looks nice on darker green backgrounds, or that the colors could look alright if they're not touching, e.g. along the notification bar. But I'm sure you'll get plenty of good feedback.

I agree with you. I went back and changed the status bar colors to black instead of red. I had the text colors implemented before I made the status bar but I like the status bar so I'm editing the fonts instead. My next update I will be changing the status bar fonts once again. The black is easier to read than the red, but with white you can see it from a farther distance. I'm sure people will appreciate the ticker text and all being as visible as possible.

No not them,i know how to change them.Im referring to bar with 3G,battery,signal strength and time.The one you changed to green with red bottom fade.I don't think its in twframework-res.apk or framework-res.apk,it might be in jar file,can you tell me which line i need to change to change color,and is there a way to make it transparent?Thanx in advance.
Yeah that's the status bar in framework res.apk statusbar_background. You have to go into policy.jar too to get rid of it showing black when you pull it down though. Im at work when I get home I have a theme on ams with the clear status bar and ill find out the exact xml file you need. You will have to save your statusbar_bar.png as a transparent image for starters. Ill work on it with you!

Now if someone would make a stock deodex rom, I'd throw this on in a heartbeat. looks great! I'd have to see if crake had a green battery % icon, though.

There is a stock deodex rom, not sure but andromeda is stock minus sprint apps I believe. I plan on implementing the battery in percentages but I dont know if our kernel steps down in 5 percent increments if it does someone let me know itll be done! Keep with the feedback.
Update will be out later today. Probably an hour or 2. Possibly V3.0 tonight including a themed vanilla lock screen and battery in %. The battery is highest priority and the lock screen is second, but if time allows I'll have it up tonight. Upgrades coming in a few hours include a change in colors, nothing drastic. Brightened almost all pngs to capture more of the superamoled screen rather than "dulling" an otherwise awesome display. Did not brighten the status bar so the green icons will stand out. I also changed all status bar text to white. This will remove any eye strain from viewing notifications. I brightened the standard lock screen (glyph) when pressed. Any bugs found please report I spent last night getting my phone updated to DI18 and today working on the theme in between life! I work tonight so if 3.0 is released you can expect it between midnight and 2 a.m. Central Standard time.

first screen shot, in the part that displays the carrier name. while the color for that particular button can be modded to be white, if you have the button images that dark of a color, then they will not be visible throughout the rest of the system where black text is used.
Agreed, the white text on button might not be doable, but rest of it seems easy to pull off. I actually have something with the black/cyan color combo in the works, its not what you're looking for but you get the idea.

I do like that launcher bar you have in your mockups though. Sorta wanting to see how it'd look in my theme with some things replaced and changed around now.
But as far as your theme, I'm sure it's highly doable, just need to get a working metamorph and start editing the included image to your liking really.

one more thing in metamorph it is possible to change the top bar into different colors?

Regarding the first response, I think he meant since we have limitations on what text we can change colors of, the black button is possible but the text on top of that will stay black..its not something we can change easily.
As far as metamorph questions, I highly prefer metamorph theme template now a days because it does away with signing and flashing an entire update.zip everytime you change some minor images. The theme in the screenshot is being built using only metamoprh format. Plus theres no need to constantly reboot (unless of course you change something in frameworks) everytime you apply changes. And yes with metamorph you can change top bar into any colors. But the top bar is just an image, you change that and you'll be able to change it anything you like. Just keep in mind all the little icons that go along with it have to change. They're all located in frameworks-res folder.
I suggest if you do go through metamorph method, that you find the black-bar mods theme in metamorph format, it gives you a nice base to start with and it has the white text edits already done for you. This way you don't have to worry about hex editing and such and just focus on changing the images.

last i checked, it is doable. if you change the button to black (status_bar_clear_background or something like that), you can use colorchange to make the clear button text white (clear=FFFFFFFF).
also, as i mentioned in the .Remix theme concept thread. get people to help you in PMs. i'm glad to see that you are willing to take the time to learn themes unlike the other thread. there are many people on here who know how to theme and i'm sure are willing to help you. your theme looks nice and seems very doable to me. good luck to you; hopefully this thread does not become another experion thread.
@Prash i just replaced a few tray/drawer images from Android-2.0-Stock metamorph theme and it worked! im relly excited to see how this turns out. As for changing the font colors i will hold out on that for the moment, i will work around the system font color to make the theme.

if you need any help as to where things are and how to edit/place certain files, i have some time today and tomorrow. PM me. so far you're doing this the right way with actual edits to the theme. good job. also, edit the battery color to match your teal. it would flow better. since you're going for a sleek look, try adding some gloss to your status bar since the one in your mock up seems too solid (kinda like an in and out gradient black-grey-black...not feeling it IMO). however, it may look nice, i guess the notif icons are messing it up since they have a diff background than the status bar.
I like where this is going..........only one suggestion, make the lockpattern cyan too,,if possible...otherwise awesome job!!!!
Also if you and Prash combine your theme with his icons boy would that be sick...just a suggestion

Currently working on mockup but slowly replacing a few files to Android-2.0-Stock metamorph theme.

yeah he did an amazing job on those. however, since this seems like a sleek look, it'd be nice if he could make new icons to match the sleekness. black and teal icons (if you saw a while ago, randumaccess had found a an icon set from deviant art that was white and teal. if you could find those and invert them and colorize them to black and teal, that would look very nice/modern.

B & W Transparent V31 Final
This is my first theme. I spent a LOT of time on it. Don't ask why it's version 17 or 25 or even 30 lol. I really wanted to make a theme that people would like a lot and would love to show off to people. I modified lots of little things as well that I have heard people talking about. Almost everything was done in Gimp.
Only a couple of things that aren't mine, were used from this theme:

The data throttle has been removed from this theme, effectively potentially QUADRUPLING your data speeds (Most people however will not see this effect to that extent or even at all, Verizon only data throttles users who are data hogs such as myself, so this is for anyone's benefit, should it help or not). It more than tripled mine. THANKS to Adrynalyne. There are 5 Lockscreens that sbrissen gave to me to test and he said we could use them in our themes as well. These are included, but I went an extra step. The services.jar originally belonged to andmer, so thank you for that, it has now been tweaked beyond what his is so they are not very similar anymore. Sbrissen for the accurate battery mod, I made my own little batteries to go along with this (will get way cooler in the near future).
What I did:
-White Puzzle Theme (I LOVE THIS!)
-Modded Rotary and AOSP locks
-I also created my own custom accurate battery mod for this. Its red 0-19%, green 20-89%, and blue 90% and up.
-Modified Pulldown Notification (now with transparency) menu with toggles.
-Modified a lot of texts to be white instead of stock black.
-Just a lot of images were edited.
Most things now are white and black. I tried not to go overboard at all. Just simple and effective. I've been using Superclean EB01 with this along with LauncherPro.
I hope you like it.
V18 - Fixed notification bar bug, accurate battery mod, garbage code. Its relatively clean now. Stable.
V19 - Battery mod now shows the charging symbol when your charging.
V25 - Lots of stuff - Battery mod charging is perfect and colors or easier on the eye, dropdown menu is fully transparent, rotary lock is mostly transparent, AOSP lock icons changed to better colors and cleaner (also transparent), and everything that was ever broken is now fixed.
V31 Final Build - Data throttle removed (faster 3G, I got 2Mbps last night), everything that was previously either gray, or just unattractive at all is now better, most things are blue instead of gray and the others that aren't blue are now white or black.

I can see about the circle battery. I'm currently working on transparency, its tough on Froyo and noone has told me how to do it yet. I come from superdark as well my friend.
Updated - Version 18 is out. Its clean and way smoother. Daily driver.
Nice job for a first theme...but you have to credit where stuff comes from.....if you are using 5 lockscreen mod, reboot options, accurate battery you have to credit sbrissen in the og post....if you grabbed images from other themes you should credit what themes/people you grabbed them from...and if you are using someone else's service.jar credit them as well

I did credit Sbrissen, go back and look . The accurate battery is mine. I did however just add the link to what isn't mine, a few of the status bar icons. Service.jar is mine, modded using xUltimate. almost everything that is changed was done by me in Gimp, using stock images and tweaking XMLs.

i hadnt noticed you crediting sbrissen for 5 lock...however thats not all he did...if you have reboot options and accurate battery built into your theme he did those edits as well.
and im 99% sure you yanked andmer's service.jar from white aosp. xultimate would not allow you to edit the clock in the status bar as the clock in dl30/eb01 IS NOT in aosp position so xultimate would not no where to look for it to edit. also xultimate would not modify carrier color (only colorchangr as a standalone program would) and yes ive tried this myself too on froyo on xultimate. you would have to backsmali/smali the service.jar in a terminal to do this. and since as of 24 hours ago you didnt have the android sdk installed (or know how to use it) im assuming you DIDNT do that.
im not trying to be a jerk here, but dont say that you did something that you didnt. its fine to use peoples stuff if you credit it. people using your theme wouldnt care one way or the other or be less likely to use it.

If reboot options came with sbrissens 5 locks then yes I used it. Superclean already comes with reboot options so I didn't think I had it implemented into the theme. I may have andmer's service.jar actually. I was checking out his theme and decompiled and all of that good stuff and I have like 10 different service.jar's floating around my computer. I may have someone elses too. I'll credit him since his is the only one that I remember looking like really close to this. On a side note, all of the accurate batteries are mine, I made them, I pointed the stat_sys_battery files to look in the location of where I put my batteries.

You are correct. But my first version had it disabled. There wasn't even a line of code for it. I managed to fix it last night because this is a feature I use often and I need it.
I see that nobody has made a Super Mario theme for the Epic. Lately I have been messing around and trying to learn how to theme and decided I would try to make a Super Mario theme. I havent done much and I have made a few icons for the status bar and what not. (as you can see I am using the honeycomb fusion theme and just changing icons here and there until it completely transforms into a completely new theme)

I know the time on the lock screen is messed up (I will be changing that tonight) and the status bar I am either considering making the clock text and the battery text black.. or maybe changing the color of the entire status bar... since its hard to see the battery text..
I am mainly making this for me and to get more experience with themes... So I am also wondering... would anyone else like to use this theme? Should I continue developing it?

This is just on the edge of awesome, OP. The notification bar needs a little work, but otherwise, very cool. Would love to have this on the EC05 framework-res, so it's compatible with SRF1.1.0.

Agreed with many that this reeks of total awesomeness. It definitly needs some work/polish, but for saying it is your first theme, you are coming along very nicely! Everyones first project needs some polishing work Regardless, I agree with the others that the notification bar needs some work. I would definitly encourage you to keep developing this theme though, and when I get some spare time I'd even be willing to give you a hand on certain things. Great job so far man keep up the good work!
Also, IMHO if it were my theme, I would make a koopa shell battery icon, like a top down view. The current battery is just too hard to see. Just have the %age number inside the shell. Blue/Green/Yellow/Red colors change for battery levels. I think that'd be a neat idea.
Also, maybe if you used the SMB1 Lvl 2 (The first dungeon stage) Brick texture across the notification bar, that might make all the other things and the clock more readable, since it's a nice Dark Blue/greyish color. Again not trying to tell you what to do, just saying what I would modify myself If I decided to use it Other cool ideas incoming after my brain generates on this at work some haha.

whoa thanks man.. i appreciate the ideas.. ill get working on different versions of the battery icon... but i dont want to keep getting caught up in revising things or making different versions of something (like the battery meter)..i polished it up last night and it took quite some time (since there are around 202 images for it (including the charging icons))..
ill definitely try that texture for the notification bar... i was wanting to keep it looking like the 'status bar' for SMB3... at first i tried the light blue color and it turned out horrible..you could read anything really... then i tried the secondary color (the beige that you see) and obviously you can read stuff..just not that clearly (the battery icon)... SMB3 was revised and had updated graphics in the Super Mario All Stars game, and the status bar was changed to a darker hue of blue... which i could try to use and it should make the text more readable..
i do want to try to keep it looking like the status bar because thats where all your information was in the game...
i am definitely open for ideas...im still kicking around ideas in my head for the wifi signal icon and the 3g...i have ideas for the 3g symbol...just need to put it in photoshop and do the work... but for the wifi... yeah...i dunno about that one yet lol..
if anyone knows what the image name of the 'call lock message notification surrounding box' is, that would be great (its the box that surrounds the mail icon on your lock screen (where you drag down to view the message))
I was trying to find it last night but gave up lol
again..suggestions are greatly appreciated... if you have any ideas/thoughts about the status bar icons, just drop me a line and ill take a look at it.. im going to really try not to get caught up in revising the same icons over and over again and not doing anything else to the theme.

I do have a flashable zip that you can flash with CW3..but its just a rough one... i mainly took the honeycomb fusion flashable zip, put my icons in it, and renamed it to a different name.
This looks really good. I love the stars and the notification really doesn't look that bad. I like the coins and the number next to them. The shells are a cool idea but I think may be better for wifi or signal strength. I think black text in that notification bar would be better than changing the color of it as well. I would certainly look forward to trying this out once your comfortable with how it looks. Keep up the great work!

This is really cool. I'm not even that big into SMB or putting themes my phone, But I would kick the tires on this... kick them real hard.
As for Ideas they are endless, put the best ones that came to mind would be to change the beautiful widget weather icons. Change the sun over to the Angry Dessert Sun. The clouds into the clouds in the background of SMB 1. When its raining it could be that guy that drops the spike balls that crawl around. The moon could be a ghost.
I like the Battery icon as the coin counter.
Still working on this.. have been very busy with other things this week... I'm kicking around ideas and stuff for the dialer and trying hard not to screw up the dialertabactivity.apk lol. Ill post a pic soon of the dialer, when I get back to a computer

This ROM is based off of Verizon GB OTA 4.06.605.03 for Incredible and uses tiny's 10/23 no wifi n kernel. I've started adding some red theming(more to come) and I've also added some tweaks for speed, battery life and RAM optimization. I also suggest using spare parts to set screen and transition animations to fast. I also use it to turn haptic feedback off for the softkeys.

And IMO Sense 1.0 runs the best on the Incredible. It's always Sense 1 or AOSP for me. I can't stand the lag on the newer Sense based ROM's. There cool, sure, but a bit too slow.

Alright, got it up and running. Some suggestions from me would be:
1. Remove the task manager from the quick settings. It only works on the newer Sense.
2. Maybe theme the notification pulldown, transparency, or all black (EG. McSense)
3. I really love the Incredible 2/Thunderbolt 3G Icon.
4. Red overscroll glow would be neat.
5. Maybe some red on the lockscreen?
Mostly all cosmetic, fairly minor, easy changes.
Oh, and maybe some more de-bloating. EG, extra ringtones/sounds, 3G mobile hotspot can be replaced with wireless tether, Adobe reader, Facebook, Quick office. Or at maybe move them and make then (easily) removable.

I'm planning a slightly transparent black pulldown with some red highlights and maybe test... have to play with ot to get it easy to read. Red overscroll would be pretty sweet too... I was thinking about a red slide down iron cross from my Blackened theme but might make that as a option and have a completely different lockscreen..

How to install?
Install like any other inofficial apk.
If you have the current version, you should be able to install this over without to deinstall and to make a backup.
However, I recommend doing a backup (Settings->Chat->Backup Chat History) and a fresh install then later on (Don't forget to restore the backup when asked).

Current Smooth WhatsApp Version : 2.8.9108 - No theme update till end of the month, or critical updates. Sorry, I'm kinda busy.
Bugs:
(Especially the blue version) Single lined messages cause a line throughout the middle of the speech bubble. Only fix is to set the size to medium or large, but then it doesn't look quite good. I can't find a fix for that, but I'll keep trying.

The send button is actually from one of my earlier attempts and not really made for this, but I think it's not that bad for this theme. However, when I have a better, more minimalistic, idea, I'll change it. Or do you have any specific ideas?

Try to make it with that. Or you can check out the themes from Yorzua (his dark mods) and Seimu. Seimu has no jellybean theme but many others, maybe he'll take your request and try to make a jellybean Theme. But he's not posting the themes here anymore, so check the thread or google.

I mean in terms of the actual backgrouud. So that when in the app - i can still see my main wallpaper.
Why not just go all holo, you have the status bar and most of the elements correct. Grab the resources from any ICS rom and start there, use available screenshots to give it the clean holo look. JB is based around holo just like ICS, so you can kill 2 birds with one stone. So far, this looks great, but the green doesnt quite fit with the default holo look and feel. Tip: you can refer to built in android resources to go give it a native look and feel, have a look at the theming tutorials on the android dev help website and you will see what i mean

Tried it and added the current blue version (see first post). If you don't like this blue, please PM me and tell me to make it brighter/darker etc.

I doubt that I can make that. There are some people on XDA who make transparent mods, widgets etc. Try to ask them and give them my apk. But I don't know how to make that. I'll try to look into that in the next few days.
Why not just go all holo, you have the status bar and most of the elements correct.[...]

The problem is that I don't know how a holo theme would look like. Send Button from the official messaging app? Light Blue gradient? What about the speech bubbles? If you give me more specific information about how it'd look like, I'll work on it.

Ok, will work on it in some hours.
There is still different bubbles when the conversation is grouped compared to individual messages. Can you make everything to the squarish bubble instead of the stock bubble?

Oh sorry for that. Fixed it (see first post- Version 1.0.2 - update if you downloaded 1.0.1). But I have currently no group talk so I can't make sure it works. PM me if it doesn't show up correctly.

I have currently some problems with setting the text font to white, whatsapp always crashes. May take some longer time, sorry.

I know, but I think I will only update when there's an Update in the Play Store (or a prompt at the start of WhatsApp to update the version). Updating a Theme for WhatsApp is quite annoying and with my small popularity of this theme (20 Downloads) it's not really worth it.

Added a grey white Version...don't know what to think about it, though. PM me please if you have any ideas how to change it.
For the black version...I still have trouble to make the font white since WhatsApp always crashes. Working on it!

How do you mean that? Can you explain that a bit more precisely? (Seimu has a Google+ Theme if you want something like that.)
