Can anyone tell me how to disable or delete an unwanted firmware update? It could be an official ICS update but I can't tell.
If I try to accept the installation, it reboots the phone but then the update fails with the message
"Software update
Failed to update firmware. Try again using PC software (Kies) or visit a Samsung service centre."
I then get the update notification again and the only option I have is to postpone the install for later. Is this happening because I have already flashed the ROM with the version below?

I have Root Explorer and Superuser apps installed.
Grateful for any advice.

I am on rooted stock ics, when I get the update after I try to install is says installation failed. Do I have to unroot my bionic to install update or unistall safestrap?
Nope.....have to FXZ ICS .. root.. then voodoo to keep root . then update....if you choose just to FXZ then upgrade you will have to do the linux root process. but not as easy as using motofail in ICS....easy as 1.2.3
I was having the same issue. Uninstalled SS and still no go. Was frustrated to say the least. Thanks for the info.
Can someone please solve this problem.I have upgrade my Samsung gt i9000 to 4.4.2 jellybean kit kat. How can i root this.Or install super user?THANKS
AFAIK, if you have upgraded your i9000 to KitKat, you are already rooted and have SuperUser installed. Check by installing CPUZ from the play store
Yes SuperUser is installed. but when i check by root checker it says device not rooted. I am not familiar with SuperUser but main reason to get my phone rooted that i want to change the boot animation.I tried many apps but not able to change it without rooting the phone. Thanks
okay so I tried the ota for lollipop so many times but always 'cannot install update' pops up after reboot. I read a few threads here and I learned that the best way is to install a stock firmware then update to LP. btw my phone is C5502, i installed superSU but i have it permanently unrooted and was successful. Also i installed busybox but uninstalled it now. I have a foldermount but it's not working since i have no root anymore. Plus my phone is still bootlocked, i guess. anyone can help me what to do since I cant do flashing without a computer. I'll really appreciate some help here.

I'v this problem too but i get over it by updating by sony pc compination
OTA will often fail if you have changed anything in the system.
Root, uninstalled a system app so to do a OTA you will have to undo the changes and also se that there are no left over files.

Hey can anyone help me with updating my phone which is on V3.25 I can't download the updated because my phone's rooted I don't want to unroot my phone without formatting
Try to uninstall magisk with "replacing the original files", then try to se if you can OTA. If not, you'll have to reinstall everything.
