Are there any custom back covers out there? I'm specifically looking for something similar to the evo.
Not that I have seen. It's possible. I know verizon offers lame red and white ones now...
would be cool..i wonder if it'd be possible to take the kickstand part out of the evo back and put in the back of my extra back cover by cutting out a spot for it
you would have to find a replacement evo since the kickstand is actually in back of phone, not batt door. I have evo and inc and am working on a kickstand type idea. Will post pics when useable
I've only seen smooth back covers for extended batteries, and they tend to make the phone quite a bit thicker.

This is the case I would want...just cautious about ordering something from Hong-Kong....

I wouldn't be worried about ordering from overseas, as long as you use your Amex you're covered, be more worried about returns and how those are handled.
imo, stick with the case the mogul comes with ;] .. works great for me.
I wish my mogul came with anything, i got the phone and 2 batteries and charger, but i also did get it for 250$ bran new cheers..
sell ya my original mogul case for $15 shipped to the us [PM me for paypal info]
I dont use the case it came with, I just put the phone in my pocket
someone smack OP, world ugliest case. the clear plastic that covers the keyboard will make it hard to text and it looks that it'll mess up the phone's sliding thingy.
Does anyone know if a slim rubber case will still fit inside the oem holster?
I'm thinking something like this

I have that same basic case except the front of mine instead of being rubber is hard clear plastic. I love the case and it does fit inside the holser. However due to the rubber it makes it somewhat difficult to slide in and out of he holster quickly and easily and takes a little getting used to.
Can anyone remember how soon after the Sprint Mogul became available that 3rd party fitted cases came out?
I'm with VZW and all the fitted cases out there are customized for the Mogul (cutouts in the shape of the Mogul buttons). I'd like one for the XV6800 and would like to know when to expect those to come on the market.

I have been waiting too... I emailed Seidio and asked them and they said the cutouts are designed for the verizon model. But if you look at the pic ( http://www.seidioonline.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=926 ) of it it looks like the curved cutout to me....
Yes, I see what you mean. The bottom buttons looks like it can pass for the XV6800. The top buttons definitely exposes more than the buttons. Many of the Mogul cases that I've seen on ebay and such looks like the case actually covers part of the top buttons albeit just the corners. But I know that will bug me. So, I'm really holding out on VZW specifically designed cases.
Well I must say, I ordered the hybred case from sedeio (rubberized bottom half and clear top half) and have to admit I am PLEASED! Fit is perfect, easy to install, doesn't pop off, doesn't squeak (like the cheapo one I bought on ebay). The holes for the keys are sort of hybred. Bottom dpad holes are verizon and the top holes holes (txtmsg/IE) are curved like mogul, but with the clear top half it is hardly noticable and looks like it was designed that way...
I would recommend...
just got an extended battery and was wondering if anybody knew of a case that would fit around this monster. i looked on the sites that i know about but no luck. i tried to cut out the back section on one of my regular cases but the sides aren't really held in place very well (not enough material left to provide the stiffness/ stablity to hold in place). any ideas or maybe somebody knows of one out on the market?
i've shattered one screen already so a shock absorbing cover is a must.
me too
i ve also searched every where nbut nothing , might have to get it custom made let me know if you find any
I found this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/OEM-2300mAh-H...ssories_RL&hash=item519389b779#ht_2132wt_1044 that has a cover with the battery.

He is asking about a full cover, I guess...
Something like the otterbox cover that covers the whole phone, but allows you to use the extended battery.

yea, exactly. a shock absorbing case that can be used with the extended battery.
i have an otterbox commuter and love it, but my battery runs out on the after work train ride home. the extended battery works great (for me about 170% of original), but as i mentioned earlier, one small drop and presto, shattered screen (i love that the bezel around the screen is so thin. it gives such a small form factor for such a large screen, but it is fragile). so i don't dare leave the house without the otterbox.
i saw this thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=693427 but in all honesty this just isn't a solution for me. i need edge impact protection. apart from being ugly beyond belief, these mods leave the top corners exposed which could spell disaster.
Hi guys,
I've seen the DIY project which is a pretty decent looking alternative but I was wondering if anyone has seen an actual Matte Battery Door yet? It'd be cool to have one like the Epic 4G's which still said Google on the back. (I think the Google looks oddly classy )
My searches have come up kinda empty so thought I'd ask.
Mini rant.... WHY?! WHY???! Is the back cover so prone to scratches.. it been only a week and a half or so and already I've seen scratches developing, in fact another happened just today.. it's really the one and only thing I don't like about it.. not sure what they were thinking..
Well if anybody has seen alternatives please let me know!
Thanks!
There is the Invisible shield Dry which is a matte back protector for it. It looks pretty sleek.

you can get the invisibleshield dry from any of the sprint stores-- it's all they carry.
if you get the invisibleshield from ZAGG, they send the "wet" version, which is the cover everyone's used to.
the dry version is matte, and thinner, and doesn't use spray/sponge/liquid. it's not as "tacky" or sticky as the wet version, and you can still clearly see the google/samsung logo.
just be real sure to follow the instructions, squeegee from the center out, and give it a couple of days to fully cure. i saw a bunch of micro bubbles and what look like flaws after applications, and it looked like the dry shield didn't fully seal around the tiny dots on the cover, but after a couple of days it was perfectly sealed in. don't squeegee too hard, especially around the curves. it'll stick, and give it a day or two.
pretty happy with it, and it comes with the regular clear/tacky/sticky front shield, too, which is also applied dry. i found the squeegee to be a bit too stiff, and it's easy to dent and stretch the shield when squeegeeing it out.
ZAGG says to keep the device off, cuz the heat or something will affect curing. i just left mine on after application, and everything is perfect. there's orange peel, but it's minimal. no problems with touch sensitivity, and if anything i think it's better because fingerprints and oil don't show up.
i wonder if it's even worth shielding the front, though. i have an old blackberry that had nothing on it, and the screen i think is plastic, and i treated it like crap. no scratches.
but yeah, just go to a sprint store. they have em. best buy around here only sells the front shield. i prefer the dry matte back because it's thinner, and still does a good job.
fyi: ZAGG's guarantee and return policy are top notch. registering on their site is simple, and they'll ship out a replacement pretty quickly, and you just mail back your old shield as proof. they don't care what condition it's in. before i just ripped off an old shield and slapped it on a piece of paper.

So the Nexus S still doesn't have any third party back covers or battery doors? I can't stand the shiny plastic back. All I see on ebay are oem battery doors that are the same thing. Don't want to use a sticker/shield or dip.

I imagine that is because of the NFC that there aren't any replacement doors.

Correct.
The white version of the Nexus S actually has a very nice textured back on it. I wanted the white color to begin with but after seeing (and feeling) the difference between the backplate on the black version versus the white version, I much prefer the white one. The black one has no grip to it and, like the OP said, it scratches way too easily.
Yeah I thought about the zagg body shield but they unfortunately only had the screen. I decided to grab the wet one instead and I've never had better luck applying a screen protector.. heh the "wetness" really makes it easy to get the bubbles out and it cures awesome.
As for the battery cover.. it's already got a few scratches, but on top of that in the lower left corner it doesn't seem to snap in very securely, even in general use when tapping on the lower left part of the phone you can feel the battery door.. "click" a little bit as if its not latched properly, it makes a audible click sound as well.
I resolved this issue by putting a very thin strip of scotch tape on the inside of the door along the edge which produces just enough pressure to keep the clicking from happening and it feels more secure. (No you can't see it )
SO I'll probably just buy a new battery door eventually and use a body shield.. hopefully the new one will latch a bit more securely as well. It's not a big big deal, and the DIY fix by me is definitely just me nitpicking the tiny click feeling but still.. I think Samsung makes good products most of the time but they really should step up the build quality a little bit.
Thanks for the suggestions though guys
Actually I think I'm going to try the plasti dip on the existing cover to.. I could see that helping the latch as well because it would be just the tiniest bit thicker it would seem.

Not that I am aware of, sorry.
My UK spec HTC One M8 came with a free rubber case in the box (think most do). I've never been a fan of cases and never used them before on my previous phones (Samsung and Nexus) but I'm finding this case quite usefull. The reason I'm not a fan is most tend to make the phone thick and bulky but this case is rather slim.
But.. the standard case is starting to annoy me in the fact that the little flap that is designed to cover the ports at bottom wont actually stay closed anymore.
Does anybody have any cases that are as thin as this case but without the flap? Im not interested in bulky cases or flip cases I simply want an OEM style case but without the flap.

Probably something like one of the below? Using the one that came with the phone itself also. Definitely a good move by HTC to include it as the phone is dangerously smooth without it.

Are they a rubbery style case? I've had some of these clear plastic cases in past and then tend to crack.

Take a sharp craft knife to the flap?

That was my original plan but the flap goes quiet far up the back of case and would leave a big gap.

Sorry Andrew, for the late reply, no they dont seem rubbery, it is hard to explain, but they seem to be a soft type of plastic, but i have never had a problem with them to be honest, they feel really comfortable in hand, and there seems plenty of grip to them too.
Oryginal case? This is a joke.

Has anyone seen a metal (namely aluminium) back cover for the G4? I have access to a CNC machine and wouldn't mind a DIY project if its possible, but I don't want to reinvent the wheel. Has anyone seen anything other than plastic/leather/carbon fibre anywhere? I looked around the forums, ebay, and various modding communities but haven't seen one other than the aluminum bumper case. I'm thinking just a single piece for the cover made out of aluminum that snaps in. It may be tougher to remove than plastic/cf that bends in case I need to remove the battery/microsd but I'd be willing to put up with that (like back in the day on the HD2).
I have not seen one and I'm thinking it would have a very negative effect on reception.
I have not seen and is it necessary to protect LG G4 by metal case?
About the closest you're going to get is a SlickWrap. They offer high quality stick on material to give the phone a different look. Carbon Fiber, Metal, Leather, etc, are some of the materials they offer.
Seen a few on ebay;

Edit: just realized youre probably asking for an actual battery cover and not a case..

Where did you find the carbon fiber back?
Why not just paint a plastic cover chrome?
I haven't seen it, even i have three different G4 wireless charge back case( i got it as a honest review). i have tired plastic and FPC raw material. prefer plastic one. because FPC is very easy to break.
Metal ones won't exist, and if they do, they won't last very long. Can you imagine having to pry off a metal back that's thin? It would bend and you'd never be able to use it again :-\ ... Imagine how you take off your plastic / leather backs, bending it a lot. Now imagine doing the same with a metal one xD
metal will also screw up the nfc

I remember I had one for my Galaxy Note 2. It worked pretty good and my service was pretty much the same too. Only problem was it was a little more difficult to remove than the normal plastic back because it was much more sturdy then the original back. Got it off EBay.

Wouldn't it also help with heat dissipation? I'm thinking of getting one now for this very reason. Not that the phone gets all that hot, but a cool phone is a happy phone, and it would act like a heat sink, I would think...
