Does the final release of CM6 have built-in apps2ext support? If so, how do I get it set up? I'm getting mixed messages from my searches. And I see a few posts about this from July or so, but that was before the final release.

Can we expect faster more stabler hero roms? There are a few very good ones, but the speed and random missing txts kills me? Also can we see apps being ported over from the hero (The address book which allows facebook sync and such)

JACs 1.6r2a is already stable with no missing text.
the address book with FB sync and such is alrdy on recent hero roms.
Drake has the latest hero update and pushed it out to a few devs already, he's sick so his wont be out for a few days probably, didn't hear if it had working bluetooth or not though, I would assume not, but who knows.
i asked drake a few days ago via twitter about the cm roms and he said he had something, so thats something to look forward to.
Maybe I'm one of the only people that have noticed this, but why is it that wallpapers on cupcake builds look better then hero or pre-cupcake builds? I know its something that is small to most, but I like seeing a hi-res background. I was running JACxHEROSki-v2.1 and of course its very fast. It's just that I noticed the wallpaper was kinda grainy. Then I flashed Cyanogen's new experimental ROM and my wallpapers look perfect. If anyone has noticed this, please explain to me whats going on, or if there is a way to fix it with the hero builds.
Yes, I searched this topic before posting, LOL.
Well its not just cupcake (btw latest cyanogen's based on Donut, not cupcake) but Cyanogen rom's themselves have improved graphics in the past. I noticed this early on one of the older cyanogen rom updates. I remember commenting on how it made the background look crisper than before. Cyan had mentioned he did some graphic display tweaks. But yeah you're not alone.
On a side note I highly suggest you use 'Wallpaper Set & Save" app from the market to set your wallpapers. Keep wallpapers in a folder on your sdcard called 'wallpapers' and at 640x480 png format, then No need to crop them and they'll look amazingly crisp/clear after you set them through this app.
I know that cyanogen is using donut, but that's not my point. Before I rooted my phone, it was obviously running cupcake and it made the wallpaper look a lot better. I'm now talking about OTA official updates. I understand that cyanogen "tweaked" the graphics, but i noticed this when i first got the official OTA cupcake update. I just would like to know if this type of "graphic enhancement" is available for HERO builds.
I hope noone takes this the wrong way, I am indebted to Cyanogen for his mods. But lately, each update has brought me really cool new features, along with a few maddening bugs.
I may do the unthinkable, and revert to an earlier version, for a time. What do you, the experts, feel has been the best all around stable version to fall back on?
Cyanogen has stated the fact that several of his latest build have kinda wandered down the experimental dividing line.
4.2.9.1 was giving me to many problems. I ended up dropping back to 4.2.8.1 and have had good results with it in this config.... 4.2.8.1 - cfs bootimage - compcache on, home screen locked in mem. - app2sd - Then zipalign everything and using advanced task manager, I keep advanced launcher excluded and any time it starts to even blink wrong I hit the end all tasks button.
I also don't run hardly any widgets. Although I am trying out a calendar widget and figured I would turn on weather and news from nexus too.
All seems good.
Those same settings in 4.2.9.1 were really chunky and even after changing cfs to bfs, and dropping compcache it still was not to my likeing.
YMMV
I have voted for the one I am using (4.2.8)
Its been fine for me, and while so have his previous builds, thats the one I am currently using and I have no problems.
I voted for 4.2.5 because it just works for me. I don't have all the fancy stuff in place like a swap partion, comcache and whatever else. Just apps2sd and a rom.
Blame Google for being characteristically evil. If those retards didn't send him that C&D order, 4.2.9.1 would be as bug-free as 4.1.11.1 was.
so the new r5 sdk revision notes mention AVD along with reference to sdcards, are we close to apps to SD? that would be awesome!
cm 5.0.5 has apps2sd
There's also a small script that will enable it as well. Search the forum
I think the OP was talking about in stock ROMs... lots of people root only for A2SD, and many more don't want to root just for A2SD.
The Google Android team announced earlier this year/late last year they are actively working at it, and hoped to have it out sometime this year... they said the biggest problem is ensuring paid apps are protected, yet making it so a common user could remove their SD card and not loose all their apps, etc. and break the system.
From what I have heard, they are close, have most of each goal worked out, just a matter of getting that final 10% done. They asked for developers to help them out, IIRC, back in October of 2009 to test and suggest ideas on how to get it done.
ya i figured OP meant stock; so glad i rooted though, wish i had done it when i got the phone instead of waiting a month
ive been running myns warm donut on my sd card and its been overall good there have been minor issues with some programs requiring a newer version of android but nothing major
anyway, its been running really slow lately and ive been thinking of reformatting and and starting fresh
1st i wonder is there any way to backup my texts, contacts, call logs etc.?
also since i will most likely be reinstalling anyway
is it worth it to move to a froyo or a eclair build overall? are there any features they dont have that myns warm donut had? and what about speed?
and finally if i should update to a eclair or froyo whats the best build?
thanks
i would recommend using froyo, you could use dzo, incubus or kyle's build and you could use atools to customise the speed. the dev's still developing on this but i think it is worth to try.

If you think things are slow, go to nand. It's awesome.
you can go to your contacts, press the menu button (power) and then click import/export and then choose export to sd card for the contacts. if you have a data plan, you can skip that and just sync with a google acount
the directions that i gave you comes from my experience with eclair and froyo.
i haven't used any other build.
i have used nand and the sd card method, and i prefer the nand method WAAAYYYY more. (faster, stable, and more stuff i can't think of)
you can use a third party app for the texts, call log, etc. i can't really recommend one because i haven't used one.
a quick google search will do
good luck
