Droid versus Apple wallpapers

Hi guys, I made these wallpapers and decided to share it with XDA. These are meant for your desktop/laptops, but if you want just resize and use for your android mobile phone. I will definitely make more in the future, so if the response is good I will keep updating this topic on XDA developers.

Hi guys, I'm going to do more renders so I'm going to fix this thread and update it frequently. Apart from that, I'm only going to upload the mobile wallpapers from now on. These renders are re-made only for your phones. I didn't simply just resize the full size wallpaper, so please don't call me a lazy bastard.

An Amatuers Glass Icons

Here are a few glass icons for anyone who wants them.
MY RULES!!!!!!!!!
1. Enjoy the icons!
2. refer to rule 1
Note: I cut and paste stuff, mild resizing and colouring. This is not difficult. I'm sure it can be done to a higher standard, with the right motivation.
All pngs were obtained from artists on DeviantART. Nothing is original.

IF you are not familiar with the style, around here it is refered to as ANASTASIA by DINIK
He was the first person to find all these great icons and slap them together with the glass effect(also found on DeviantART).

You are AWESOME for posting this and starting this thread but I bet you that he-who-must-not-be-named will throw another hissy fit. I will give this a few days before he starts banging on mods' doors to close this thread if he has not done so already. If it does not get closed at all, I will post ALL the hundreds of icons that I made. I promise...and they are quite nice for a newbie PS user (not artist yet).

How did you do that so fast!
I got the original template about 6 weeks ago from the guy on DeviantArt who was using the exact same glass effect as a 150x150 avatar on a site I frequent, and had been doing so for a couple of years.
There was a slight difference in the shadowing and colour effects, but once that was removed, (done for me), it's exactly the same.
Initially, I asked him if I could use it for my avatar which he happily agreed to, but when I realised I know bugger all about PhotoShop (that's how come I had all those tutorial links from the other thread) I came clean and showed him DINIK's excellent collection.
He thought it was brilliant as well. Very well done indeed.......
And now, in 1 hour, you have just allowed me to upload a completely new icon set to my phone.

But I am still gonna call it Anastasia if that's ok with you...... and with DINIK as well - because that's one aspect of his work not in dispute.

He can't claim ownership of all things. The PSD did not come from DINIK.
OF course we all know that these look like Anastasia icons. Not the issue, I have used his inspiration only, none of the graphics are from Dinik's computer. This is absolutely ridiculous and childish.
He did say we could release our own PSD's.

No one is disputing what style this is. I have said many times before, the OP or anyone who shares will not be known for these icons as anyone who sees them will say it is Dinik's when really it is not made by him. BUT the point of the matter is for those of us who began using the ANASTASIA theme have to make our own icons as there had been no addition for quite a while. That is how I began anyway, my template was actually from nniicckkss who was bullied by Dinik when nniicckkss shared the glassy psd template (so actually, I am using his template which he so graciously shared). And to be honest I only learned PS, CFC-GUI, ResHacker, WinCE, etc. when I got this phone last April. But I digresss...I am very much willing to share but because of rules blah blah I can't even post cab or zip files in threads. I actually have to individually email those who requested some of my own version of Anastasia icons but I stopped because that is really a pain to do every single time.
So I will share the icons below once this thread gets traction and not closed by mods due to reasons we already know.

Watch out though, nniicckkss did the same thing early on and his thread was eventually closed by the mods because D won't stop blabbing and throwing hissy fits and threatened to take his work out of XDA. At that time, I have ZERO PS skills and of course that will be a problem for me then if I want uniformity in my phone. But since I now know how to edit manila/dll files, make my own icons, and pretty much google and download for free (or pay a few bucks) really awesome PS effects, I say, go ahead and leave XDA if he makes the same capricious threats and demands. His ego just became so big that he thinks he is the only one who can do quality work when in fact it is so freakin' easy.
EDIT: I have wasted too much time on this. I am going to shut up now and just focus on modding my own phone whether or not the mods will be shared or not.

The original PSD you posted in the first post, is created based off one of Dinik's Icons. It's relatively easy to do... erase the stuff in the middle, blend around it to "complete" the image. Unfortunately for you, vgunmanga, you didn't do it perfectly and you can see that in the image below. ON the left, Dinik's original template.. on the right.. yours.
Anyway, Dinik will be relasing his icon template officially in a new thread created by him. There, you can share icons made in "Anastacia" style, using the official template. I think everyone will be happy with this arrangement. You guys get to do your own icons, dinik gets to back off.

All you need to provide is a video link, preferably a youtube video, and the start and stop locations that you want to use in the wallpaper.
I will create a zip file with your user name on it and upload it on my mediafire page and provide links! The wallpaper can then be used via the method explained in my last thread :

Your castlevania themed idea presents a problem... There are no castlevania videos that I know of, that aren't game play. I can find some great gameplay scenes but I don't know of your taste for the game. Also, portrait wallpapers are especially hard because they require the entire set of images to be cropped to the appropriate size. So, are you looking for maybe a boss fight from something like, Portrait of ruin? Or even more old school like NES? Your request is easier said than done, but I am in the process of taking great moments in gaming history and turning those into wallpapers, currently I've got Zelda in mind.
I should make it clear that if you want a game wallpaper, I'd think of games that are 3d and maybe even specific scenes that you want. I advise you find the video you like and post the link here, or sent it to me in a private message. Again, all live wallpapers look best in landscape mode, I recommend you pick a wallpaper you'll use in landscape, or one that you would mind only fitting the center of the screen in portrait.

How about something with deer. Cgi or actual video. Either or would be awesome. I look for a video.

Ah, I certainly hope you meant deer the animal, as opposed to well, anything else. Either way, here is a nice deer wallpaper. It includes deer idly standing around just being deer, cute deer at that... I did the fade effects in the beginning and end so the looping of the video was smooth. I hope you like it!

Just so you understand, I'm not capable of cropping that video. I mean, I COULD crop it, but I'd have to do it frame by frame, and that's not happening. Also I have no idea how or even if its possible to add sounds to a wallpaper. Try again!

irfanview has batch cropping. i can handle the boot sound part.
so yah if you can get me the full frames i can crop them.

Silly question mate but how do i get those files into my own dropbox folder on my laptop, ive just started using dropbox so still finding my way around

BAMFAndroid - Show off your Homescreens, show up iPhone

So the other day, Gizmodo "wrote an article" (posted a link) on fuglyandroid, a site dedicated to showing off 'crappy' Android homescreens, as if it's proof that Android is naturally an ugly OS (and that iPhone's uncustomizability is better? lol).
Well, I think they're wrong. Open source is frickin' sweet. So how about it? Please submit your awesome homescreens to http://bamfandroid.tumblr.com/, hopefully when there's enough attention we can throw this back at fuglyandroid.
I know we have a screenshot thread in here, but I'd feel bad about scouring it for screenshots without asking permission or properly crediting the author.

How about just suggesting to Gizmodo a website like "MyColorScreen"? Instead of building another site. It shows the best of both worlds and also of note, of the top 10 6 are Android... just a thought.

I hate that humans take first impressions and whatever they see first so aggresivily. Iphone people thought that when the iphone 4 came out that all the stuff it offered was new and only on the iphone. Fail.

Theres similar threads around here. Some awesome stuff there.

Now this made me laugh! They didn't even pick any good 'FUGLY' shots! Some of them actually have potential as the widgets are even modded. The creators should have asked for feedback and the layouts would probably be worth to look at.
Ignorant douches, like the ones who created this website - probably haven't jailbreak'ed their iPhone. So they automatically don't have any say on the matter, IMHO! At the end of the day it's all personal preference. I'd rather just add a couple of widgets and be left with an entire new setup, than switch out my entire OS and pray to God that I get into dBarteam.net.

If you have a screenshot app, and if Tumblr's app/mobile site supports submitting images. IDK about that one, I don't use either :S

Oh cool, I didn't even know that site existed? Well the point of BAMF Android is more to be a direct response to fugly android, not really Gizmodo. Besides, Giz is typically pro-Apple, and I don't think they would post something that would contradict one of their own writers.
