I live in Singapore and I my phone connects to a 3G network, after updating to Froyo and I rooted it, I could not access my mobile network, any work around to this?
check you APN settings.
Yes,
When i flashed to JPK, i couldn't connect to my 3G network also. But then i noticed that my APN list was empty.
I went to the Vodafone website looked for APN settings and i just had to enter them to make it work.

So after having my phone bricked for the past couple days, I have finally gotten my phone into UGJL2ROM working. I still have one problem and that is the 3G data network.
During the time my phone was "bricked" I came across this same problem when I would get a different ROM on my phone (usually the rom would cause errors, which is why I kept flashing). I was told in another thread that I would need to change the APN settings.
I have no clue how to do this. The modem works because the Wi-Fi works (I would assume it's part of the same hardware with driver).
If there is anyone out there who is under the Bell provider, has encountered this error, and has fixed it, please let me know how I can resolve this problem. Having no data on the phone totally sucks. I have already called Samsung and their reaction was just for me to send it in. I really would like to avoid sending my i9000 in because of the wait time.
Different country but I have a bell I9000M. It was delivered with JL2 but modem for some reason was JK4 and I had similar issue. Wifi worked but 3G only on 1900 but signal so weak here that useless. I upgraded just the modem using an Odin flash to JL2 and got the 850MHz band running on 3G.
So from the dialer *#1234# what modem firmware do you have?

Forgot to mention. Settings/wireless and network/mobile networks is where you set APN. I cannot assist on apn details for your provider. Google I suggest.

Here's what i get when I type in from dialer *#1234#:
PDA: I9000UGJL2
PHONE: I9000UGJL2
CSC: I9000BMCJL2
Build Info 2010. 12
NVM. found out the problem. apn settings are so easy to set up. found it on another android forum.
Solution for anyone else who needs to get on Bell network.
Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names
Menu Button > New APN
Name: Bell
APN: pda.bell.ca
I'm having troubles connecting to 3G with my IS. Up until a few days ago I had an HTC Desire Z that was unlocked, and rooted. It worked great on rogers 3G.
I'm lost as what to try. I've accessed the *#*#4636#*#* menu, and tried GSM auto (PRL), and I end up getting 3G but then it drops. The only way I seem to be able to keep the data connection is to set it to GSM only which gives me 2G/edge
anyone know what else I can try?
Thanks
Have you added an APN for Rogers?

It's under Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names
I'm using a Bell Incredible S on Telus after entering the relevant Telus APN settings, and get the HSPA/3G icon.
well I got it working. When I checked the APN, the MMS proxy ip was missing. I did have it all in there correct before though. I guess from the *#*#4636#*#* menu switching settings in there trying to get it up deleted the proxy ip?
Either way, it's working great. Thanks for the reply thedosbox
I finished installing Darky's 10.1 Extreme Mod onto my Samsung Galaxy S the other day, and since then I have not had any connection to a 3G network.
I live in Australia and my phone carrier is Virgin Mobile running on the Optus Network. Before I flashed over from a Voodoo Lag Fixed stock 2.2, 3G worked fine.
I have checked in the wireless and networks setting to make sure the phone is set to "Use packet data" under mobile networks (Data roaming is turned off), but it makes no difference. I have also turned packet data off and on to make sure. Network Mode is set to GSM/WCDMA (auto mode). During setup for Darky's Rom, I left the Modem to defualt settings, JQ1 or something.
I'm not sure what I have broken but I'd love some help getting 3G back. It is very limiting to what a good smart phone can do.
Thanks

So far as I can tell from the About Phone settings page, it is just a plain GT-I9000 with a Baseband of I9000XXJVO. Though I can't remember what it said before the flash.

There is nothing in the APN Settings. Should there be names?

I looked up the APN settings for Virgin Mobile Australia and entered them into the phone but when I saved the new APN it didn't appear in the list. Just gone.
I inserted the SIM Card into an unmodified Samsung Galaxy TAB in which I have used this SIM card in the past. Still can't get 3G on the TAB, and there was no settings in the APN section. Could be a problem with the SIM card?
I also used a feature on virgin mobiles website to send the APN settings to the phone but they return an error when trying to send me the settings.

Oddly enough if I just enter in the name of the network and no other details, it does save the APN correctly and works fine again. Sweet
Thanks though all.

Just as I suspected. Those are the 3G settings for your network. If you used Titanium Backup those settings are under [SMS/MMS/APN] Dialer Storage, just restore and reboot your phone and thats it.
so i got my tablet back up and running, but its not showing any signs of Cellular life
i flashed CWM7 and i have it up and functioning. i have the stock AT&T modem from the [MODEMS] list, should i apply a different one?
i have the APN settings correct, however, i'm not sure why the tab isnt registering on the network?
i just wanted to post a quick update on this.
i did have wrong APN settings :/ i was using a APN for a phone vs just mobile broadband data.
Hi all,
Recently acquired one of these phones that was originally network locked to WIND Mobile in Canada.
Successfully got it unlocked and connected to the FIDO network, however data has not been working. Copied the APN settings over from the previous FIDO phone (the same as the APN settings listed on FIDO website for unlocked phones) and I am getting no data connection.
Any suggestions?
Update: I tried the LTE APN and now I am getting 2G network connection only. But it is slow as ballllls
Anyone else notice that this phone has a really long lag time for connecting to any networks? When I turn it on it says emergency calls only for up to 5 minutes each time until it connects to the network.
I am using a Fido locked optimus 2X and have no connection problems like you describe. My device connects to the network within seconds of booting up. As for the data problems, all I can suggest is to try to return to the sim's stock APN, by pressing the menu button and 'restore default apn' in the apn portion of the settings. If not, it may be a problem with the rom, and you could try flashing another rom.
