I don't have a Nexus One, but I'm pretty sure it is impossible to Lock an Unlocked Nexus One Boot-Loader.

That is true with the retail Nexus ones but this is not a retail nexus one its a engineering sample that was given to the developers

*sigh*
NO nexus (holiday or retail) has the ability to re-lock the bootloader.
So, yes, You are SOL. Shoulda done some research

He is correct. The holiday nexus one "should" be able to run OEM lock and relock the bootloader. It is kinda strange why yours cant.

have you upgraded your radio/spl? can you write the info displayed in the SPL here?
(also post in qna next time )

It had the new korean radio when I got it

well considering that the holiday nexus (or any us nexus for that matter) was not officially given the korean radio/spl, maybe thats why its failing. i would try downgrading back to the original engineering spl (i think its posted somewhere, a little bit bigger than the standard spl)

I have a shipping SPL with S-OFF

Just been trying and failing to use the new rooting method that doesn't unlock the bootloader, when I noticed that when in FASTBOOT & HBOOT, the first line of text reads:
NEXUSONE PVT SHIP S-OFF
Now, I am certain I had checked this before and it was S-ON, but I can't remember if this was before I had sent it back to HTC for a repair, or maybe it is due to installing the pre-release 2.2 update.zips?
Either way, is this of any use to anyone?
its S-ON for me and im on stock frf72
are you sure you dont have a holiday nexus (phones given to employees and special prelease testing)
If it was a holiday phone it would say ENG S-OFF, not SHIP S-OFF
Ps. This was in development a minute ago... I put it there for a reason lol
ATT band phone, rooted, 2.2, S-ON

Engineering phone & Holiday phone are not the same thing.
Oh, I thought they both had the 768Kb SPL?
Either way, mine was bought from Google in late Jan, standard battery cover and the SPL 100% used to be S-ON.
Is this really of no use to anyone? I thought it might be handy for the relocking bootloader quest?

well if you sent it in to get it that way...its not gonna help much since we cant make a full image of the phone. are u unlocked now? can you relock?
Ah didn't know that it couldn't be dumped, just assumed it could be after reading that some folks had got their hands on the ENG SPL. Guess this is a non-starter then. Bugger.
Also I can't be sure that it is down to HTC, but it's all I can think of that would have changed it.

My N1 is running stock build ERD56C with bootloader locked - HBOOT says ENG S-OFF.
My battery cover has the AndroidBug waving the flag with the link to the holiday phone game on it and my bootanimation is the one that's included in the latest CyanogenMod 6 release (you may have frequented those threads about that, I pulled the anim out of my phone and posted it on Modaco - not sure if it was my bootanim the cyanogen guys used tho?! link: http://android.modaco.com/content/google-nexus-one-nexusone-modaco-com/311351/build-version-erd56c/).
Anyway, I've been told by a few folks that I've got a holiday phone but I guess if I'm ENG S-OFF then it must be an engineering one? Certainly it didn't seem like my bootanimation had been widely seen before...
Question is, may my phone be any use in the quest to relock the bootloader?

it MAY be possible. I remember that we got a hold of the Engineering SPL for the G1 when one of the Devs got their g1 back with the eng spl still on it
Interesting.
Well if anyone knows what commands need typing to try, post away!
OP this may by the rumor about FRF91 fixing the non-unlocked rooting method that surfaced with FRF72. I cannot confirm this though.
Er, what's that got to do with S-OFF SPLs?

In order to go from HBOOT 2.00.0000 to a S-OFF HBOOT, you will need to follow the Downgrade Procedure listed in the sticky posts of this forum.

The downgrade process is to run revolutionary and not sign away your belongings to HTC
So you do not have to use HTCdev at all with the downgrade
You either unlock via HTCdev or you downgrade to an older s offable hboot, and s off
Lynt's guide is the HTCdev unlock
If you want to downgrade, use nonverbose's guide

I used it myself and it worked fine for me
Can Someone confirm me that the file provided here is same as that provided in nonverbose thread..the chinese site link is too slow..download speed of 2-3kbps ...and dropbox link doesnt work anymore...

I think only going from gingerbread to froyo radio can brick
Not completely sure
Mine did not brick the two times I did it
You can always upgrade again
it would really be great if you can still confirm that changing the radios wont have a negative effect on my mobile
Nope , it worked fine for me...
As in upgrading/downgrading? It is no problem for me, if you flash the correct radio for our device, it is safe and will not cause damage
All I can say is that all the people here who have downgraded probably did not brick their phones
You are safe, but just remember to follow the instructions word for word
And none of us are responsible for any damage, obviously

Remove Tampered from bootloader?

Hey guys can you help me here?? I'm completely new to HTC's, this is my first ever it's the HTC One (Vodafone), coming from Galaxy S1 & 2 so rooted them and all that which was so much more easy that this. I got the phone yesterday and in my excitement I unlocked the bootloader, now I've noticed I'm one of the lucky first bath people with the gap at the top and glass popping out slightly and stuck with TAMPERED and UNLOCKED in the bootloader, I can RELOCK but still stuck with TAMPERED, to make matters worse I've now just noticed some dead pixels, yes I'm sure it can get worse.

You need s-off to get rid if those things from the bootloader.

The only other thing that might do it would be an RUU, but I don't see any around.
I've to bring the phone back on Monday, so just play along and hopefully I'll get the phone swapped out.
If by some miracle I do get this swapped out, I'm never touching the bootloader again. I'll just have to deal with ads, this **** is unreal. Never had it before with Galaxy phones, simple factory restore and back to warranty.

Yeah I was thinking of doing that. With the correct RUU it would remove the TAMPARED and the RELOCKED and have it set to just LOCKED is that correct? Just want to be sure as again this is my first HTC.

they can't do you much in EU, because there are consumer protection laws in place. if they don't repair your phone you have right to demand that they need to prove you that you destroyed your device with softwar. hardware faults are rarely caused by software...

To be honest the main reason I was bringing it back was because the top part of the glass was sightly sticking out which is annoying, that's a build issue and now there's a stuck pixel, tried the programs but do those even work or whats a decent timeframe to run them for ?
I do believe if it's software related the warranty then should be voided if the bootloader is unlocked but these are clearly build related.

This is my first HTC as well.
In a way it's a second with HTC since I was helping a family relative debranding her HTC One S (US T-Mobile version) recently and I gotten the tampered message as well. I followed this guide for that phone and it went away.

Unlocking the bootloader cannot affect HTCs build quality, same with the dead pixels. You can still return the phone to HTC under RMA even after unlocking the bootloader. No where on HTCs dev site does it say you will completely lose warranty by unlocking, just some aspects. They will take the phone in and assess the problem, which in your case should be fine, as rooting a phone cannot make the screen pop out and kill pixels contact HTC about the issue, some guy had a similar issue with his One and they sent him a new one!

In Europe they can only refuse warranty if the software messes the phone. If a locked phone decides to brick itself, they have to repair it, if YOU brick it its hard cheese. Any hardware failure is still HTCs problem.
I love you guys

[Q] Bootloader and mechanics.

Hi everyone,
I have been using android for a couple of years now but first reasontly I got an interest for modifying the software.
After reading numerous of hours on the forums I still have´nt found a thread giving me all the answers for the bootloader setup and what do the different statements mean for you and your phone.
Ex. my One´s bootloader says following:
TAMPERED - Is this good or bad?
UNLOCKED - Why has it not gone back to locked after I flashed a custom ROM and why is S-ON back again.
S-ON - Any danger by keeping this S-OFF all the time? Before I flashed I believe it said "S-ON RL" Now it says S-ON RH?
HBOOT - Any good reasons to mess with this?
RADIO - Same question as above.
xtra:
OpenDSP-v26.120.276.0202 - Whats this?`
eMMC-boot - Whats this?
The date written is the date it was flashed by the vendor?
Thanks for any answers and I hope someone can help me clear my head!

Tampered means you have unsigned software running on your device
Unlocked means you unlocked you bootloader and won't change back until you relock it, and s-on will stay s-on unless you s-off your device
Stay s-on if you don't know the benefits of s-off, it increases your chance of bricking the device
Hboot-you couldn't mess with it if you wanted without s-off, don't mess with it
Radio-It's just best to stay with your stock radio firmware
Those others are just information about the device. Not really sure. These are things you need not worry about, just keep on flashing roms and you will be fine.

I am using Trickdroid ROM, so this has to be signed by who in order to remove the TAMPERED from my phone?
Is there any point relocking the bootloader?
And do I not need to S-OFF again in order to flash another custom ROM?

By HTC, the tampered isn't going to go away basically. Unless you s-off your device
No there isn't any point, you need an unlocked bootloader to flash custom roms.
S-off is not needed with an unlocked bootloader

eMMC-boot, if I'm not mistaken, means the phone has booted from its onboard system rather than fastboot boot mode. This is something you don't need to worry about unless you're a developer or advanced user.
Open DSP is the digital signal processing framework. Again, nothing you need to worry about unless you're a dev.

[Q] What's all the fuss about S-OFF?

So I read about S-OFF and I can gather that it has something to do with unlocking the bootloader. I'm a little confused since I just went to the HTC website and did the official unlock steps, I'm now rooted with clockworkmod CM10.2, and my bootloader is S-ON.
Basically, I never did S-OFF so I'm confused about why it's so important and why didn't I have to do it?

Some carriers are the only users option in their area.
Like for me, that carrier would be Verizon. They have great coverage.
But they also happen to be evil and had HTC block our HTC One's MID from being able to use the HTC Bootloader Unlock bin file.
It will fail the initial checks after getting the token from you.
We also have the 1.54 hboot as stock, so there is no using moonshine, or facepalm, or any other previous method as of yet.
So in order for poor folks with carriers that strongarm smaller companies like HTC into doing things against their wishes and our wishes,
S-off allows us to then change CID,MID, etc,...as well as then go and unlock the bootloader as we should be able to do by choice.
That's why they built it and added in a warranty void warning, so we could make that choice if we so choose.
Anyway, that should make it more clear to you now at least, sorry for the extra carrier rant, lol.
Plus the obvious other advantages of flashing radios, kernels, etc,...without doing fastboot.
Ah okay. So S-off does similar to the HTCDev unlock? If I used S-Off instead could I get rid of the ugly warning text on boot?
Htc dev unlock only needed partitions. S-off unlock ALL

Yes you could get ride of the warning text with s-off, with s-on you cannot.
Everything what's said above + more , for example if htc one windows version ever gets ported s-off users can have it , we can also convert our device into ge edition / dev edition / flash whatever comes thru your mind , even splash screens , use modified bootloaders , we can also unlock bootloader without need of HTC official unlock process , we can lock it as well ( s-on can only relock it ) we can also completely hide we ever were rooted / unlocked for warranty reasons while s-on can't.
We can also use super cid which allows us to flash any ruu or use any region / carrier roms.
We can also downgrade bootloader or flash any other.
That's mainly it , also for example us with s-off have writeable partitions while for example s-on users still don't on 3.22 base.
And at the end maybe a good thing for you and some less advanced or less knowledgeable ppl s-on is a good thing since with s-on phone is practically indestructible software-wise , while with s-off small mistake even in fastboot could brick the device.

With the HTC One, you can flash radios and kernels in the recovery if you unlock the bootloader...

To get official OTA with updates to firmware, hboot and everything you have to get them from your carrier, and this depends on your CID. You cannot change this on S-ON. So basically your are bound to your carrier for life, they may but also may not release updates (like for ex. carriers in USA skipped 4.2 if I am not mistaken). You can of course flash custom ROM using dev unlock, but it won't update the firmware.
Ah okay thanks for the info! I have one more question about S-OFF if you don't mind: If I S-OFF and disable the red warning (flashing an unsigned fw), then S-ON again, would the warning come back?
If you do s-on with modified hboot will result an instant and forever brick. Dont do that.

Why exactly would you want to go back to S-ON?
