Hi,
I upgraded yesterday to JPM and for some reason there are applications still using /sdcard/sd rather than /sdcard/external_sd for storage. I assume they usually would use the external_sd but due to some reason, either hardcoded or whatever they dont. is there an option somehow to get that fixed?
Would it be possible to for example root the JPM and use a symlink? I actually would prefer this option being recognized by Froyo but it seems it isnt.
Anyone with a nice suggestion?

I think someone must have seen this before / so far ...

Same problem, both Navigon and MyBackup Pro seems to have problem since they expect to find a /sdcard/sd-folder.
i have this problem too. maybe we should as in dev forum?
Can't you use busybox to make a softlink?

I did this to try and fix the lag, and I put the 720kb update.zip for root
Please help me went back to JM2 for the meantime, and the /sdcard is back.. any ideas on what happened? Really want to try the XXJP2 without the lag..
your internal SD somehow got switched to read-only. this happened to me aswell, im still looking for a way to fix it
+1 happened to me aswell now trying the repartition thing
I have an issue with my external sd card, since jp2 I cannot put anything on it, say write protection, no permission....ideas???
The SD card was working when FroYo first started up though..
Might flash to JP2 now and see if it behaves..
/mmt/internal_sd again...
Grr how can some people flash the same firmware and get good/bad resuts!
I downloaded from another mirror, installed JP2 and the internal SD card structure is the same. ffs if this is meant to be the case can someone put us out of our miseries?
Please if someone could check if this is new structure on 2.2 it would just take a minute to check..

I also got the same issue where the external SD card is read only but internal is fine.
I hope someone can fix this.

The external card is not write protected if you connect the phone without the debuging mode on. However i have the same problem with the internal sd and cant install any files in it as aplications doesnt have rights to write to it :/
Reflashed back to JM2 cause cant use almost any app on my phone
Same issue, different phone
Hey,
This might be a samsung thing. I've got the same issue, Epic 4G. Someone please, take the pain away! I don't wanna have to ***** @ sammy!
Oh, BTW, I can confirm its not a phone thing, swapped out phones and had same problem.
Hey everyone
I wonder if other users have had problems with the internal card of GS
For weeks I tried my rooter GS unsuccessfully
I just noticed in fact that when I created a file in / sdcard / (eg photo) it disappears after a reboot
Have you had this kind of problem and do you find the solution?
I should mention that I already try to format but without further success.
sounds like you are in the wrong forum, it appears your phone also runs Android
Which phone are you using?

Sorry
Samsung Galaxy S (I9000)
okay now we know what you are talking about, we usually refer to the phone as SGS, or typing the model number which is better, just GS can get misleading.
back to your original question, no, it should not delete your stuff even if they are at the root of the SD card
if you create a file there, or picture, anything, it should remain in the folder you left it on after a reboot.
what software did you install on the phone?
Even if you factory reset it 3 times in a row it still retains information such as music, vids and pics on the internal sd. Looks like a dodgy sd card to me

Hey - I already searched some times but couldn't find a solution.
Before I changed to Froyo I used my external sd for some big files - backup TitaniumBackup, offline wikipedia Wikidroyd, Navigon and BeyondPod the Podcasts.
With Froyo the folder-name of "sd" changes, like all know to "external_sd".
My first Froyo version was the standard JPM from samfirmware. TitaniumBackup could load from the external sd after I changed the folder.
But all the rest does not work anymore. When I change the path in Wikidroyd to the external sd the program crashed (it worked under Eclair). BeyondPod should find it automatic - but now it just creats a folder on the internal.
Also what I find really strange - I can't install Apps on the external. When I try it with some (which are supposed to work) it just tells me it can't.
Also when I wanted to install new Apps, like Google Skymaps - I needed to remove the external, before it was possible to install it on the internal than...
I now changed to Doc_Kalpik Froyo v7, hopped that this was only the problem of the JP6 - but still the same problem, and this time I can't even use TitaniumBackup anymore. (Yes I can move all the stuff on the internal - but thats not my goal...)
External is FAT32 - and I tried it with and without lagfix (so e4)
I really tried much until know - but nothing worked. What is the problem here, anyone any solution???
Edit: But I can use the external_sd in general - so I can copy stuff from one card to another (e.g. Astro) - I can't move them!
Noone can help?
So TitaniumBackup works again
Anyone some idea how to change the folder from WikiDroyd, BeyondPod, Navdroyd and Navigon to the external_sd?

Of course, this is an issue, and of course, this has been discussed several times on the forum.
Do a search before you start a new topic!
You will find your internal sd-card on mnt/emmc...

Hi,
I tried several custom roms (Slim ICS, CM 9, now ICS333 1.0.2)
However on all of them the phone doesn't recognize the external storage. Is this a general issue?
Beucase I can't use a lot of apps because of this.
I can't access the Gallery because it says "No external storage available". I can't import contacts, can't use the camera app..
Mounting USB storage in the settings doesn't change a thing. It tries to every time but all stays the same.
I know the files are in the emmc folder but does that mean all the apps are unusable? I don't see anyone else complaining.
Is there anything else I can do?
It's actually the phone's internal storage that I meant. My phone doesn't recognize it.
In clockworkmod is does... On my phone with all the roms tested it doesn't.
Troll the threads for each of the ROMs.
Yes it is a lot of reading but you probably will find your answer
I have same problem for 2 months. I tried every rom from the site. I thing have tried 100 roms. Nothing have working for me. I have downgrade to 2.3.6 Also the same problem. Im searching for 2 months. I really need help for this..
Download from market Root Browser and after you install it you will see a Green Button to go back. Press it and enter in "emmc" folder there is your External Storage!(sorry for my english)
