Hi guys,
I have a Nexus One running 2.2 and was thinking about swapping it for a HTC HD2 and then putting Froyo on it myself. I like the fact that the HD2 has a bigger screen and pretty much the same spec as the Nexus One.
Does anyone know how the HTC HD2 runs after putting Froyo in it? Is it as fast as the N1 with Froyo? Is everything working like callls Wifi etc.? Would you do the swap I am about to do or do you think I'm mad?
Cheers,
M
I honestly hated my HD2. Good luck
Cheers Wylker......can I ask why though? What handset you got now man?

Probably because of windows mobile. =)
Cool! Anyone have one and put Froyo on it? Is it hard to do guys?
M
i did tried it on my HD2 last night . software still have alot not respone error not smooth running yet. had to force stop alot the screen look washed out compare to nexus one battery not recognized. and it running hot. i did see the advance of having larger screen thought.
Thank you tiensinh99. Do you have a link for a tutorial on how to put Froyo on it??
Larger screen... if you prefer that, that's probably the only thing that makes it better than the Nexus. The biggest downside is it being a windows based phone. Wait for galaxy S to come out for T-Mobile. Or go for EVO if you want a bigger screen, that would be a smarter way to go.
If I was to start all over though, and had a choice between those devices ... I'd buy a nexus one once again.
the instruction how to install is in the LEO general forum. also there r the dual boot intruction.
samsung galaxy S already came out on tmobile. and i'm still choice N1 over HD2 every time.
Cheers guys.....I think I have my answer.

Wasn't there another thread where someone was looking to swap his HD2 for an Nexus One?
Maybe these 2 should meet?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728343
thinking of trading nexus one for iphone 3gs and htc hd2, both phones are unlocked. Would this trade be worth doing? I ve used an unlocked, jailbroken iphone before pretty solid, wouldnt mind playing with the hd2 for awhile.
I couldn't stand using my friends HD2 for more than 5 minutes.
wouldn't trade my nexus for that phone even if it could transform into optimus prime...
or build an island and transform into a jet and fly me to that island.. i don't care.
I would not do that. While it is neat to see android running on a a wm phone, it would never be nearly as stable as a real android phone. I had a touch diamond and I could never use android on a daily basis, had awful battery life and all kind of other problems
Hi Everyone,
I have a question that I need some help with, here is my situation:
I’ve had an HD2 for about a year which was running a Froyo with Sense ROM, and smashed it by accident. I now have a brand new insurance replacement Nexus One sitting on my desk.
What I really want is a Desire HD (pretty much what I was using earlier…) so I’m considering selling the N1 and picking one of those up (I like the extra screen size, and new ROM with cached maps, htcsense.com etc…). Does this sound like a good idea, or am I better off just keeping the N1 and hoping someone comes up with a hacked ROM to include these featues…? Is the N1 better than Desire HD in any way?
Cheers
One of the reasons (just one - there were many!) that I got rid of my Samsung Vibrant was how much the Nexus One seems to be holding onto it's value. Look out on Ebay - it's still selling for around $450 for a used one and $600+ for a new one. After having been out this long I don't know of any other phones that have held onto their value that long!
You can try Desire HD port, it exists.
If what you want is Desire HD - go and buy Desire HD. Nexus is developer phone, and there's no other current phone like it, if you want to mess with it a lot. But as a phone, if you're not interested in messing with it, I believe Desire HD will suit your needs better.
if you like to mod and generally f*ck with ur phone, keep N1
if your happy with stock rom and just play with themes and apps, i would say go Desire HD
i have been tempted by Desire HD, rather tempted, but i constantly mod my phone. so i just cant give up N1

This sounds idiotic idea, selling better phone and buying worser.
Look this is desire z overclocked to hyper fast 1.4mhz http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=813749 .
Just install evil d's desire hd rom, the camera and hotspot are not working but that will surely be added in a future update

1. There's no such thing as "worser"
2. "overclocked to hyper fast 1.4MHZ" LMFAO
Can someone please suggest me If i shoud purchase HTC Incredible S or should i wait for HTC Sensation. I have heard of all the talk stating HTC Sensation being loaded with Sense 3.0 while Incredible S may get a limited update to Sense 3.0.
I would also like to know if Skype is available for download on HTC incredible S?
Thanks..would really appreciate the help
Numair
I have Skype on mine (though there is no video calling).
Personally I would wait for the Sensation now, if you're willing to pay the extra. Which isn't to say that the IS isn't a good phone, because it is, but you might as well get the latest and greatest if you have the choice. The Sensation will have more fancy animations and such.

I would go with the Samsung Galaxy S II instead of the Sensation. HTC is locking the bootloader on the Sensation and who knows how long it'll take someone to crack it. I also like how the Galaxy S II has 16GB of internal storage already as well as more RAM.
Doctorsax,
There is no video calling? then y does it have a front cam? isnt that for video calling? jeez!..i thought it had video calling...but then i guess u r right..its betta to wait for Sensation...hopefully that wud be out soon..Thanks for ur reply
Doctorsax,
Hey can u plz explain me whats bootloader? and isnt Samsung Galaxy S2 too huge in size? i mean does it fit in ur pocket? ...and i read that the battery life of samsung galaxy s2 isnt good..but once again different ppl different opinions....
Well price is not that big of a difference, so sensation would be a nice choice if you really want HTC. As Someone else sais, Samsung galaxy s2 is deffinatly worth watching at too!
dont buy a sensation! im pretty sure the battery of sensation would be really bad. its a tradition of HTC from winmo -> android in last 10 years. the first piece of any hardware change got bad battery. a recent example would be inc S battery gets 2X using time than battery on DHD.
Wait to get a HTC Sensation 2, I bet you sensation2 would be a masterpiece.
Well sensation 2.0 would take sooo long to come..and by then we might have other phones lined up and i will end up waiting for them too ..hehehe
I guess samsung galaxy S2 is really good? but i hope it fits in the pocket..lollll..any idea bout battery life on that one?? n i guess the price wud be so much!
Also been considering 3 devices mentioned - SII, IS & Sensation....
- Samsung is pro with the battery, unlocked Bootloader...design is a bit plastic...but it depends
- IS is for the ones that want to use phone purely as is....with minimal customization environment provides
- Sensation Battery worries me, however in case it will be updated to latest 2.4 with Dual Core optimizations etc might stand a chance. When will this happed though ?
Sad thing is locked bootloader on both HTC, didn't know that is wide spreaded ...but in case you are within reasonable demands user - this is the optimal choice....

Sense 3.0 ports for single core devices are looking promising!
but if you are going to be on stock for awhile and want some power, i suggest holding out for the sensation.. or by then, the IS price will fall and it can help you make your mind up
Do not buy a Incredible S, it sucks! Is just a scrap phone for a lot of money! It sucks in ALL!
hmmm really????
can someone plz explain me what does root by xtc clip mean?
First, HTC said they will not lock bootloader hereafter. However, they never said when they will unlock current phones. Fingers crossed.
For video call, you can always install Tango from market. Personally, I prefer Tango over Skype.
In turn, the mentioned reasons shouldn't affect choosing Inc S or Sensation, or other brand phones.

My Incredible S sucks ! I also have an HD2 with Android inside which is a lot better, more powerful and more compatible with many applications. I'm a bit disappointed because for example I cannot use Skype and Sip applications. Trying to call via this phone with these kind of applications is impossible. Battery consumption is a lot faster than the HD2. And sound reception call quality is pretty bad. Sometimes, it seems I'm talking in a conduit or a tunnel. Many echos ...
Hi!
I'd like to get a new phone, as my Ascend P6 is just crappy. I was going to get HTC One M7 as I like its size and the ability to hack it and use the logo as the on/off button. But a clerk at the store told me that it has some issues - overheating, wi-fi instability... I was also thinking about like LG D802B G2, but that would be for a different forum.
So what do you guys think?
And please, how fast is M7/M8 when switching between 2G and 3G? I'd like this to be quite quick.
Thanks!
I had never experienced any of that issue the clerk told you about...
Personally I don't feel the m8 is a big upgrade tho. I sold my note 3 a month ago to buy the m7... And am very happy with it.. it's fast, comfortable, and beautiful.. it sounds awesome and the screen is fantastic even dough it's smaller than the note3... Oh btw am running kk 4.4.3... And soon android L... As you can see it is still a good option..
But you r the one that will be using the device so.. check both mate.

I have been a die hard fan of HTC phones since the droid incredible. Figure its time to try something new. My M7 tried to pop the screen out as I guess the battery bulged. I am wondering if its a good phone and if touchwiz worked out its lag issues I seen in the past. Need a camera that works good as my M7 had that purple haze issue. More so I need to know if foxfi still works on this phone as I have seen many phones stop working. If not will have to look in to root and hope I get a phone not on the latest upgrade so I can root with that one touch root. I need tethering as where I live we have no internet access.
So its this phone or the Google nexus 6 for Verizon and planning to pick up one tomorrow. So any insight is welcomed.

The galaxy s6 edge has the best camera and the best display. Touch whiz is bad for some users but not for me. Try buying the 128gb version, as it is probably the only one not to be updated to the latest base band
Just sent you an e-mail
If you need to root/modify then go for the nexus. If you want a stock android Samsung experience with features like Samsung pay, great camera, light weight then get the edge.
