Hello everyone,
Would like to share my story. I have 2 hd2's got one and was very pleased with it running winmo on it, then Android came along and I decided to get another one so I would be able to have both winmo and Android phones. And recently I have dropped 1 whilst getting out of the car and the lens got cracked its terrible to look at, few days later dropped 2nd and cracked it as well as the 1st. Now I've got 2 of them and they both cracked and have no insurance. Need to fix it but there are so many ways and places in the market so I am confused a bit. I live in London and I found local HTC repair center where I've been told to pay 125 quid to repair 1 handset. Seems awfully expensive. Could you guys share how you sorted this sort of issue please.
Thanks in advance.

There's an assembly/disassembly video on youtube from HTC that someone uploaded.
I bought a replacement glass from aliexpress because I had a coupon, but check eBay as well, prices are always fluctuating. Expect to pay around $50ish for the glass, $100 if you want the whole glass/LCD unit (less of a hassle to install)
I'll update with more once I get the glass, which might take a while, seeing as it's coming from China.

I (im in California, USA) recently bought an AT&T Tilt for $350 (got a great deal!) and only got a few good hours on it until dropping it (luckily i put on a protective clip on case from day one) but not lucky enough to keep my LCD from getting a nice hairline crack about a half an inch from the top toward the middle. So heres my options...
1. Replace the LCD (best i found was an lcd for about 130 including shipping from the UK)
2. Deal with the nice 0.5in x 2in area of messed up picture from the cracked LCD and use it like it is.
3. Sell it AS IS
4. Somehow convince ATT or HTC to replace it for me and little or no cost LOL
Any suggestions on this? Anyone know cheap repair services or cheap parts or need an 8925 with a broken LCD (throw me an offer ).
I'd try 3b, lol. give it a shot, you never know.
ok help me out with my statement im pretty good at working over reps, ive gotten out of 2 Cingular contracts, a SBC contract, a DishNetwork Contract...lol but getting a free repair/part i dont know about..
oh yah...3b lol sorry i changed it to 4
Re:
If you cant haggle for a repair, cnn.cn is always good for cell phone replacement parts.
Wish I had the money
to buy it from you, would like to test a rom on a spare device so I dont brick mine. flashing roms looks easy but better safe than sorry.
Still paying off mine.
throw me an offer
lol didnt see your title..sorry
Similar to you, I got my Tilt on Oct 19, and on Oct 20, I broke the screen. I searched around reading through all the threads about Tilt broken LCD in this forum, I finally find a guy named Nicholas who sold me a LCD replacement from Mainland China. Doesn't take too long I received the LCD replacement, and replaced the broken LCD by myself.
It is a little bit risky to replace the LCD by yourself if you are not technical. There are some threads you may want to read before actually replacing it. It is not very tough to replace the LCD if you knopw the tricks and right tools.
I was quoted $150 months ago for th replacement, and I am sure the price now is a lot cheaper. Please contact Nicholas if you want to get a replacement from him. I have PM you his email address. You may want to mention my ID when communicating with you.
Good Luck!
Replacement Tilt LCd

no help?
how about ebay?
Screens for HTC devices are very hard to come by. I managed to find one for my Hermes, but it was £90-ish. For that price, you might as well go on ebay and buy an entire handset.
screen
Got one for my tilt off ebay for 89 bucks installed it myself. and it does come with the digitalizer orderd from china, got it in 5 days..
Wow. This question has literally been asked and answered three times a week for months. If you'd have searched, you wouldn't have had to wait.
Best bets...
Ebay or cnn.cn if you have the ability to change it yourself - requires some proficiency.
PPCTechs will change it out for you for $169 plus shipping. http://www.pocketpctechs.com/main~u...LCD+&+Touchscreen+Replacement+Service.htm
www.gsm4world.com has got it, but a bit steep at 75$
Replacement Screen
try http://www.gsm-support.co.uk/.
I used them for my Exec and they turned it around next day - sent saturday & back Tues all for £85 from memory.
They do not have the Kaiser on the Web page but for a Touch LCD replacement its £75.
Give them a ring
The purpouse for this thread is purely informational to see what other peoples experiences have been in the repair process involving LG
I am not really looking for stories of how LG (or Google) simply replaced your phone, but rather out of warranty cases, what you had to do, how much it might have cost out of pocket and for what repaired.
This is so others like my self know what to possibly expect.
My story:
I picked up this phone on Craigslist for $30 already knowing it was bricked, in hopes that I might be able to reserect it. upon finding out (after money was exchanged) that it was done not just while trying to root but that he believes that the wrong file was used when his "friend" was trying to do it i realized that it was probably the wrong boot loader so many have loaded by mistake. After figuring out my only solution based on my research was probably a JTAG service I decided to give LG a call, and told them what was up. asked if I could send it it and get a quote to re-flash it. unfortunately when i got it the rear glass was already cracked and i was upfront about this. upon inspection they said they wanted to replace the entire housing including the LCD as well as the main board. I was unable to get further details as to what was wrong with the board, but they only wanted to replace the LCD due to a scratch on the front. I tried to just have them replaced the board but it was an all or nothing deal. Soooo... not having $181 laying around for basically a new phone with my old battery I had them ship it back.
Additional Information: upon having my unit shipped back to me I discovered it to be shipped back with no padding other then the shipping invoice in the very thin box and a non-padded plastic envelope. I contacted LG as I was concerned about additional damage to my phone that I might not be able to determine till such time as I might be able to send it back when i can afford the repairs they informed me this was standard shipping whether my phone was repaired or not, I told them the box had been crushed on one side and I was told they would make a note and send it to their service center so a change in packaging could be made if it was deemed appropriate.
Parts LG would like to have replaced for the aforementioned $181 (USD):
Battery cover (with glass)
Mainboard
LCD (including digitizer and front glass assembly)
LCD replaced, $140 total.

Only 40$ more and they include a new mainboard? Sounds cheap.
I won't hesitate paying 180 and get a totally new phone. You can always sell it after and earn some dollars, considering you just payed 30 for it. It's your only solution, buying a mainboard and a screen would be much more expensive.

So you paid $30 for the phone and for $181 ($211 total) you will essentially have a brand new n4? Outside of the shoddy return packaging I see no issue with this.
To be honest though, if you can't afford a $180 repair bill you have other priorities that need addressing just sell the phone for a profit (you'll get alot more than $30 on ebay.)

Maybe, but for a phone with broken glass and mainboard, you can only use battery and some other components which not usually break. Will be impress if you get more than 50-60 dollars and then discounting what PayPal and eBay charges...
I'm really impress they only charge you 180 for a full fix. If I were you I will just wait until I get the money, then fix it and sell it.
As of my experience, I had my screen replaced by LG due to a white pixel, (didn't have RMA choice). They did not charge for it and sent it back in 4 working days.

Worth it.

I do recognize the value here. trust me . I plan on getting it repaired as soon as I have funds as I would love to be able to use it. Just have to sell my spare phone (Atrix HD) first. At the end of the day, the only real complaint I have is that the LG service center has an all or nothing policy. The rear glass is broken (i have a nice TPU case that hides it) the LCD and digitizer is fine, just has a scratch on the screen (I can deal ith that), I just want the Mainboard replaced but they will either do all of it or none of it. I understand why, they want to guarantee their product. just a bummer for those that might not have quite that much cash on hand for such things.

I actually think they are not charging for the main board, that will explain the price. If it hasn't got any signs of physical damage they usually repair it free of charge. I had my Gnex main board replaced after a sudden death having no warranty, bills or anything.

Have you followed the return to stock guide using fast boot to re-flash stock images? I had a scare when returning mine to stock and followed that guide and got it back to life.

Trust me I tried every thing I could. I ended up selling another phone I has lying around and shipped my N4 off for repair. Should be back by next week. according to the invoice they are replacing basically everything but the battery. Looking forward to having it back
Attached is the form from LG, with the personal info changed of course.
LG recieved mine on the 22nd and charged me 140 to fix it . . still haven't received it back or anything haven't even heard from them since they called me telling me the LCD is damaged I'm just hoping i get it back by saturday.. I didn't get a detailed email from them or anything either but i noticed it took them 9 days to send you one so i guess patience is the key.
So I just got mine back and there's a yellow blob on the screen and its really annoying what do I do ? Call Google for an RMA or call LG again

If you received it back from LG for service I would call LG again.
Back and good as new.
I have received back my N4 from service. had to call 3 times to figure out what was going on since there is no reliable way to check online. was told on Wednesday to call back on Friday to get and update and hopefully tracking information. then received an email stating it had been shipped on Thursday. It was shipped back 2 day service (FedEx) and got it on Saturday. I have all ready rooted it and got it up and going. It looks new from top to bottom. over all I am pretty happy with the service turn around time. But (recognizing I am a bit impatient) I felt like I had to be more involved with keeping up with what was going on then I would have cared to. Status updates are important to me when it comes to such expensive items.
So yeah... Im pretty pissed but ive cracked the glass. 2 obvious questions. Where can i get a replacement and are there instructions anywhere. Web searches didnt yield much.
Where did you get it? Maybe Google will replace the phone if you got it from them.
ATT unfortunately....
ifixit's teardown shows how to take the phone apart. It does note "Even though it was easy to get here, the display is still fused to the digitizer glass—it won't be a cheap replacement part if you crack your screen."
I haven't seen much as far as replacement parts for this device just yet. I have seen replacement backs, but not a whole lot else just yet.
Ok thanks guys. Ill just live with it until i can get my hands on a screen\digitizer combo.

You could calling Motorola and see what they will charge to fix it. I don't think that it will cost more than $200, but I could be wrong. It never hurts to ask and see what they say. I'm glad that I bought Moto care for my phone because I'm clumsy.
cracked screen
so i broke my screen after 2 days it was in my front pocket. NEVER DROPPED IT. pulled it out to use it and the screen was cracked a crossed the screen. I have owned over 50 phone and I think this is the cheapest phone I have ever used. So motorola will fix it for $175 installed but I used my insurance from ATT and paid $200 and they overnighted me a phone.
I had to pay Tmobile 175, they overnighted me a brand new one, still sealed in the nexus box

I bought mine directly from Motorola. Cracked on day 3 (a hard drop onto cement after a long night of drinking). Motorola also charges $175 for the repair and they place a $500 hold on your credit card (if you want to get the new phone before you send the old one back. They were supposed to overnight a brand new one on Monday. Here it is Thursday. I finally called after receiving no updates and they have no phones to ship me.
SOL cutting my fingers until production kicks up I guess! Teaches me for being an early adopter...
So, managed to drop my new Pixel 5 this morning after never once damaging my Pixel 2XL over the past few years...
Does anyone know of anywhere I can buy an OEM replacement in the UK please? I've seen I can have it repaired for £200 using Google's preferred repair partner, but I'm able to do the work myself so was hoping the screen (and adhesive) would be available from somewhere.
Thanks in advance.
a little bit late.... ok this is sad i feel with you.....
usually i order stuff like phone parts at AliExpress. But i just discovered, that the P5 replacement screen is really expensive :-(
~~150,- Eur - thats really hard.....maybe it is because the P5 is a new phone.
