All my screen burn in complains started with LPY ICS. Suddenly I noticed bluish color in place of status bar(top of screen) while reading web on landscape.
Later, it change to situation like on screen test status bar location seems to giving best color. Rest of the screen has yellowish tint now.
So my screen is acting weird or getting broken. Anyone else has this issue?
I want to go back to GB, but I am afraid to brick. If go back to GB, should I choose non wipe GB for mobile odin?
I have CF-Root LPY kernel.

Screen Burning?? This is kind of hard to believe, at least that ICS is causing the problem when there is a lot of people on ICS now with no problems like that. Just a defected phone probably and you should try to return it to Samsung if you have a warranty.
But, I would recommend using PC Odin to go back to GB.

It's not a defect, it's just an unfortunate side effect of AMOLED screens.
This is discussed extensively on XDA, particularly in the I9100 forum.
Your best solutions are preventative ones, use a launcher to hide the status bar, leave screen on minimum brightness, avoid leaving the screen on for excessive periods with still images and try not to leave it in direct sunlight (on or off) because this damages them too.
To be more correct, this is actually not burn in, it's the organic LEDs wearing out, the longer they are lit for the more they wear out over time and the less bright they become. Because status bar is black, they get used least and so end up brighter or tinted, and pixels used most (clock area or lock screen circles) get dimmer.

I was on fully stock LPY and I noticed almost the same thing. What appeared to be dead pixels in the shape of one blue dot and one red dot formed on my screen. Though only visible when the screen was OFF for some reason. Anyhow. I flashed back to LC1 stock odexed rom via pc odin and my screen was back to perfection. Well, if you disregard the black clipping issue

Yes, I think it is as you said. Screen colors dimmed. But, I bought this 6 months ago. It should be a defect. Your suggestions should be valid to use the phone for years without problem.

Not exactly, I remember a member of the SGS2 forum uploading photos of he's screen after using something called coyote, some sord of car navigation, after regular daily use for a couple weeks it had caused noticeable wear in his screen.
Static images are bad for these screens if you have a lot of screen on time, the most affected will be your statuary because it's almost always off (black) so it'll be brighter than the rest.

Everyday 1-2 hours I am on Google Reader and Browser with white background. But, I still think that screen should be defective to wear off in 6 months.
Currently, I use black background
I think it should be under warranty. When I am not lazy or screen gets worse, I will format my phone to original ROM. Then, go to samsung.
I got the same burn in on my Nexus. Just returned it for repair. Reading about all these problems with super amoled screens makes me wanna change for a other phone since it seems to be a common problem.
If a screen replacement doesn't fix it permanently, i hope I can get an other brand without amoled. Just not okay to have these kind of defects.
I love the phone but I've noticed that while navigating the phone the brightness flickers or pulsates somewhat. It's also noticeable when watching video. Also I've noticed when I swipe from blinkfeed to my main home screen I can tell the screen gets slightly dimmer.
It doesn't seem as pronounced when I disable auto-brightness but it still seems to happen.
Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this.
I also have but I can't consistently recreate the issue so I havent tried to get a replacement yet

After messing around with the phone more it seems to me like the brightness adjusts depending on what is on the screen, like if I launch an app the brightness might change but once it does it seems consistent until I do something else. I don't know if it's trying to adjust dynamically based on what's being displayed or what.
Not really sure if it bothers me enough to do anything about it.
I had like a wave go through my screen while using the cam odd anyone notice the lines in the screen when its off ?

I haven't noticed that.
I actually went to Best Buy over the weekend and exchanged my phone to see if a different one would be better about the brightness adjusting constantly. My new phone seems about the same but I think I'm kind of getting used to it, also I just don't feel bad knowing that it seems to be widespread.
Hi all,
Recently my Moto X developed a screen issue. When I load any application, the screen flickers as if the window is being pulled to the top of the screen. The screen will flicker about 3-4 times, during which I can't get the screen to respond in any way.
This started happening after I installed the Google Now launcher, I've since uninstalled the launcher but the screen flickering will not go away.
Does anyone have any idea what is going on and how I can correct it?
Thanks!

Are you able to get video of it with another device? Is it the actual backlight that is flickering, or just the elements on the screen flashing around?
You described what sounds like the notification shade being pulled down. I've noticed that I get erratic behavior with my Moto X if there is any moisture on the screen (even a few very small drops), and some chargers. I used the BlackBerry charger that came with my Storm 1 because it had a very long (4-5 feet) cord on it, but it seemed to cause issues with the touch input. I switched to the cable that shipped with my phone and haven't had any issues since.
Maybe try wiping the screen down real good with a microfiber cleaning cloth. Not sure if screen protectors could cause this either, but I would imagine that they could interfere with the touch screen if not applied correctly or designed/made well.

Thanks fury683! Yes the elements on the screen flash around, very similar to what it would look like with the notification shade being pulled down.
I've given my phone a good wiping, it's behaving so far but we'll see if it's for good.
Have you tried restarting the device? Just try different little things and you are bound to find your answer.

LOL - I had a moderator move it to Q&A. It WAS in General (wrong section). You were correct indeed...don't worry, you aren't losing your mind
Did you fix your problem?
I am having the same issue where my screen will flicker a few times as if another app is being opened by the app switcher. I noticed it happens when I am connecting or disconnecting from Wi-Fi. I tried factory resetting my phone and it did not help. It is very strange. Did anyone else experience a similar problem or find a cause?
Having this issue too — screen flickers when moving back and forth from wifi to 4g
Yes! Took me a while to connect it to offline/wifi/4g transferring, but my screen flickers 3 to 4 times (basically the view refreshes the same way crappy apps that didn't bother programming a transition go from screen to screen) every time I access an app that uses the internet after this transition between data sources. It is infuriating. Anyone ever resolve this?

Got it — I used Titanium Backup (on a rooted phone) to kill MotorolaOTA (backed up first).
So I'm having some weird issue with my Sony Xperia Z, the screen works absolutely fine, but there's this mystical dissolve(my apologies, couldn't find the right word to describe this problem).
The phone have been dropped before, but nothing happend. It have always been protected by case and tempered glass. One day I noticed the text on menu starts to blur a bit. Then few days later the same started to happen with album. And the thing is I haven't dropped it in a long time. And I have never sat on it either, so that's not the cause.
And what's is most frustrating, that the pixels tend to dissolve only when picture is in background, if its pure black or any other color nothing dissolves. And screen works perfectly in games, but when I view pictures or i open even the menu it starts to act real weird.

PS - I already tried reboot in safe mode, complete factory reset through sony companion, opened it up and reconnected everything connected to lcd and digitizer.
PSS - Today I noticed that the picture blurs on colored image, while on black&white one it is perfect, any ideas?
I am facing the same problem. Havent got a solution yet.
Dont have a perfect solution but atleast i can help you with a trick of my own.
This is going to drain your battery quicker then normal
Go to google play and download screen filter and set it b/w 30 and 34 and adjust your phones brightness to half or even more than that
Im sure you wont be satisfied but atleast it wont give you tears while looking at the screen.

It worked, still got some blurred lines, but now it seems almost fine. Thanks a bunch, but I would still love to find out where's the problem, is it dieing GPU, screen or some cable?

I have been using it for a few months, and I have tried several things like using the "dead fix pixel" application, but now I received a call and the effect is worse. Any help? Any rom that includes screen calibration? I have not wanted to stop using Stock, but if I have to do it, I do it.
I have that issue too.. I bought this phone earlier September, brand new... But just after weeks, I already noticed ghost effect @ lcd burn in... So far I found no solution for this.. Temporary fix for me, is shut down the phone for about few minutes then restart it.. ghost effect is gone for a while before it's back few hours later... I'm pretty disappointed with the screen quality... The phone itself is very good, battery is good.. running high graphic games well too
I had an issue with ghost effect when I put a low quality replacement screen on. I now have an OEM screen and haven't noticed it since, although it may take a few months for the effect to start.
