Hi all.
I am almost sure my X1 will soon be replaced by an HD7; so I was going to purchase a screen protector and a good case some days in advance.
I checked Brando shop which has nothing for HD7 yet.
So I was wondering if in the meanwhile I can safely order a screen protector designed for an HD2, being the screen the same size.
What do you think about the case ? Are the connectors' positions similar in the two phones ?
Thanks
S
if i am not wrong..
you cant buy the HD2 screen protector.. because the HD7 has a flushed surface with the capacitive buttons.. so the area to be covered by the protector is larger than the HD2's..
I picked up a screen protector and housing from the o2 shop (birkenhead, wirral)
the housing is the protective TPU Shell and it fits snug and is made by

@yosagojimbo do you know what I would search for to find it online? That website is pretty, but useless.
I just found a silicon case on MobileDen.co.uk but its currently out of stock and the pic does not show the back. I would like find out if the kick stand still works with the case on it, but the 'contact us' link doesn't even click anywhere.
As a word of warning, don't bother with a soft case from ebay user: 1smltd. It's oversized, and definitely not designed for the HD7.
I will order as usual a martinfields protector for my soon coming hd7. I had them for my past 3 htc devices and I'm really happy with martinfields !
Just need to look for a proper case
Anyone know a good screen protector that is anti smudge?
I use to buy one for my iPhone from Powersupport. But sadly they only make them for iPhones...
I don't like screen protectors that feels exactly the same as the screen, where it smudges etc.
Wow this is very ingenius. I just ordered one.

I ordered my screen protector from the O2 shop, it's a proper HTC one designed for the HD7.
Try PDAir Workshop. . .
They got HD7 Screen Protector at US$12.00/8.00
tmobile screen protectors suck. you could order really cheap ones on ebay but the quality is questionable.

i would stay away stealthguard stuff... their quality is there, but the cut dimensions are horrible
thanks for the feedback. Maybe the dimensions are just cut incorrectly for devices with more complex outlines. The reason I say this is because my friend ordered some for his iPhone 4 and they seem fit perfectly. The material is exactly the same as bestskinsever or zagg shields meaning there is some orange peel texture.
I got the case and anti-smear from the Tmo store. The case is a Speck case. Hard soft case and the anti-smear works fine.

this case makes the buttons super sensitive to press; simply slightly touching down on the side of the buttons is enough to trigger them (excluding the power button), and i can never able to boot up the phone without going to the "connect to pc" screen with the case on

let us know how this works for you. Might have to invest in one.
To the OP, why are you protecting a glass screen? Plan on skipping it across the pavement???
I usually use boxwave protectors for my devices, but with my hd2 and my soon to be here hd7 (damn you UPS!!!), I don't use them anymore just due to personal preference.

I prefer the look of no protector, but I am glad that I have them. I hate scratched on my phone. and mine always manage to get scratched. I've always carried my phones in my back pocket for ease, which keeps them pretty safe, but when my 2 yr old decided to ski with my HD2 across the kitchen floor, lets just say that protector saved it's life! haha

I can't figure out why there isn't a thread on this in the Accessories section of the forum. Those crazy Euro guys have a few threads on this topic and we have none.
Well, be it Zagg, Clear-Coat, Lexerd, BodyGuardz, etc? Is there a comprehensive comparison out there somewhere? All I ever see from Google searches is forums with everybody saying something different and defending their single purchase.
I think almost everything is going to end up being more subjective when it comes to these.
I have used many kinds in the past and each time I get a new device I always order a Phantomskinz.
I only wish they offered just the screen part in matte, but for under $8 for two skinz shipped I have found it to have the best clarity and feel.
I am horrible at putting protectors on and something always goes wrong, but even with the little imperfections I don't notice them when using the device.
Like the Boxwave - they have both crystal and matte. Like it because it fits the tMobile version perfectly and there is protection for the entire front glass surface including around the bottom surrounding the buttons. Have had them before on all my touch and non touch screen phones. You do have to be careful when applying to avoid bubbles but it can be removed and reapplied again and again.
best screen protector by far to me is the Clarivue screen protector. http://cgi.ebay.com/2-x-Clarivue-Sc...ewItem&pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item1c1323f296
I've used it on all of my phones, ( htc dash, tilt, g1, fuze, and now my hd2) all came in a two pack, with a screen cleaning wipe, no adhesive, self clinging, I won't buy anything else.
Invisible Shield from Zagg
Second time I've used 'em. First time was on my Samsung Behold and it actually increased the touch screen performance.
Just got the full coverage on my HD2 last night. Still trying to get used to it. It's definitely more "grabby". Seems to make your fingers stick to the screen, which in turn activates an unwanted app or link. It's only been a day and I'm sure it will smooth out and become more responsive. It did for my Samsung. It will give the back of your phone a gloss look, which I don't care for, but it won't get scratches when it sits in my pocket or slides across my dash. It will fell less slippery in your hands too.
Pricey but worth it in the end. If anyone is considering it, PM me, I think I have a discount code floating around in my email somewhere I can pass on.
Hope that helps.
Why do you want a screen protector? the screen is scratch resistant. I watched my TMO sales rep attack it with the end of a pair of hardcore scissors and not a scratch on the demo model.

Several peeps from this site have said that they have gotten scratches on their HD2 screen. But yeah, I've seen the videos, but never tried it myself. I still use a screen protector just in case.
I think the Zagg are too thick and dont like the "orange peel" effect they give. I tried a few different brands and have nothing but great things to say about Clear Coat. Easy to install too. I take mine back once a month just to get a replacement whether it needs it or not. They replace no questions asked every time. No hassle. My favorite so far.
Clear Coat
BW UltraClear from Brando
My current phone is an Xperia, and I'm using the BW UltraClear. I've had it on my Axim and iMate Jam as well. It doesn't have a grainy look, and it works great with my stylus. I ordered one last week in preparation for the HD2, and another one for my gf's iPod Touch. The cheap screen protector is messing up her touch response.
i still have yet to find a good one...cheap ones are crap with touch responsiveness, good ones wear out quick

Skinomi TechSkin: a bit daunting to put on, uses a "wet water" solution, worked fine on the first try. Screen cover is a little thicker and more "grabby" than I expected. Touch & pinch thru the film is fine, not as good as no protector at all. Transparency is excellent.
Microthin dry-transfer film: easy to apply, to re-apply, and to replace. Much thicker than the Skinomi. Touch thru the film is fine, but pinch operations take a little getting used to.
Stock coating (no after-market cover): Great touch, no scratches in 2 weeks' everyday use. If Seidio or someone comes out with a good, soft-lining face-in holster, I'd skip the screen skin.
just recieved the vikuiti screen protector and despite all the rumours of it not fiting the tmobile u.s. version because of the 1.5mm difference...i can confirm that it fits perfectly and fingers glide smoothly across the screen on my phone...even covers under the buttons unlike many other protectors...they also come with warranty...if it doesnt stick or starts to come up they will send out a replacement for no charge...or so they say...havnt had to try it yet...cost a little over 10 dollars and arrived in 5 days from HK to US
also the capdase hard silicone case works great with our version as well...just off slightly off at the bottom by the microphone but people can still hear just fine.....very snug and not feeling loose...it keeps the contour of the phone on the back which i like and it still keeps the phone slim...totally transparent...covers the camera in the back so it can be left on a table without suffering any scratches to the chrome bezel or the camera lens...looks sweet...cost is $13.40 shipped and arrived in 5 days from hong kong
Kind of a gamble but for me it worked out perfectly and exactly what i was looking for..
I must have sticky fingers because I have a hard time sliding my finger across the glass. Kind of a pain because I love Swype. So, the question for me is which protector is the slickest?
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

it doesn't cover the entire screen.
scrn protector
it covers the entire viewable screen, it does not cover part of the black area which is not important and accounts for less than 3/4 of a square inch.
i guess it's a matter if preference, i do not see this as a deal breaker, as it does what it is intended to do and its inexpensive and matte - good for me - maybe u will find one more to your tastes
I picked up the Vikuiti DQC-160 for a TMOUS HD2 and I can confirm it fits perfectly, despite being manufactured for the Euro version. From what I understand the TMOUS version is about one millimeter taller, but it must be in the bezel and not the screen.
Applying the protector was effortless, has no orange peel effect, and essentially feels like I'm touching glass. I'm very happy with it thus far.

But Zagg doesn't list them as available on their web site yet. I'm not as interested in a screen protector as I am having Zagg cover the back of my phone. Their product is great. I like the gripping feel of it. The screen of the focus is Gorilla Glass so that why I'm not going to cover it.
Do you have a reference link to the Focus being built with Gorilla Glass?
Att has a zagg shield thats a dry install and is pretty nice. Its not as grippy as the wet but feel similar.

I installed the InvisibleShield on my Focus. I really like the matte finish on the back. I took it to the booth in the mall and had the invisibleshield guy install it for me for free (usually like $7, i think.) Just FYI, it may be a dry protector, but you can still install it as if it were wet.

Well then I have a defective screen because I have a scratch
I'd feel better with a protector on it myself.
I was looking at the Skinomi. Has anyone used them before? Most of the reviews on other phones seem mostly positive. They have both a screen protector and a full body protector.

Mine should be here any day now. I got the full phone covering. I'll report back...
Zagg is now supporting the Focus...
http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield...es-screen-protectors-covers-skins-shields.php
I've used Zagg on my last 2 phones and highly recommend it. It is really great stuff. You can argue that you don't need this with the Focus screen, but if you still want one, I would go with Zagg. The most important thing is to follow the installation instructions exactly.
My recommendation is NOT buy the Full Body coverage... just get the Screen Coverage. Get a nice case instead. Zagg can (not always) start peeling very slightly on the edges from repeated rubbing with your hand. I've seen this happen on 2 of my friends phones who had full body coverage. The good thing is, Zagg will send you out a new one free, no questions asked (you do have to pay shipping though). They are pretty good about it. Also, if you don't like it, it is removable.
I went ahead and ordered the Zagg. 14.99 isn't bad even with the 2.99 shipping. I don't feel comfortable until I get something to protect this screen.
I got the Skinomi. I followed the instructions and still ended up with a lot of bubbles\wrinkles. Also I'm not sure that the "full body" skin is even needed. I certainly can't see how the side pieces are supposed to fit around the buttons and headphone jack anyway.
I give this product a huge thumbs down. A waste of $20.
Thank you for the heads up. I ordered the Invisibleshield instead. Hopefully, this will fit the bill.
Does anybody know of a decent hard or soft plastic cover for the Defy that would cover a little of the front (my current one only covers the sides) so that if it lies face down on a table, the screen would not touch the table (there is some protusion in my current one so this may in reality not happen very easily but a better solution would be appreciated for sure)?

personally, i use a case because in certain situations i want the phone to be more visible in case i put it down (i use my phone for navigation whilst out geocaching) and for that reason i only have the bright orange case on the phone whilst indulging in outdoor pursuits.
regardless of costs i like the increased reliability - if i drop the phone and it breaks i would be without a phone for x amount of time. the case can prevent that happening.

The case I have is the amzer tpu. It looks just like higgsy's. It has a lip on the front that would prevent the screen from contacting a flat surface, but just barely.
Picked up the same case as Higgsy if I'm not mistaken. Happy with the purchase.. I bought the set that came with a screen protector which was an utter pain to put on. After about half an hour I gave up and settled for that one bubble by the side - at least it wasn't on the screen
My one gripe is that the case covers the volume rocker so it can be tough to press it without digging your nail in.
Not sure why people keep claiming this phone is rugged. More than that the Droids and iPhone maybe, but nowhere near 810F mil spec (see Motorola i1 for that).
As far a a case...I'm a big fan of the Otterbox Commuter case, as it is a soft gel case which then fits into a harder outer shell.
Very sleek and lifts the front up as OP requested.
Only issue I have with it is that it does not have a belt clip. Nite Ize solved that problem fairly well though.
Looks good but 35USD before shipping is excessive for a case, IMHO
Agreed, they are very proud of their product.
One note, for those interested...T-Mobile also sells the Otterbox. They are in T-Mobile boxes, and not advertised as such, but the case itself still has the Otterbox branding on the back of the case.
I say this, as they occasionally go on sale through T-Mobile & T-Mobile stores and because you can often find them on E-Bay for quite a bit less.
Ever tried the case from otterbox.com? Looks nice and stable.

Hello Gents first post on this awesome forum I use once a day, I have exactly 5.67 in ebay dollars and I am wanting to invest in a screen protector from ebay. I have very little experience with various type of screen protectors and I am trying to find the ideal candidate. I do not want either a mirror or full body skin, I do however like the look of this "matte" and I feel it was a screen protector I had once before but am not sure. I am looking for something very smooth and under 5.67 on ebay! Will look at any reply exceptions made on price but cheap is key.
Most generic screen protectors are the same; they're just clear. The problem with them is that the cut outs are usually a little off if you get a cheap one. SGP probably makes the best ones that I've used but they're expensive.
Always heard good thing about sgp.I think they are about 10dollars on ebay.
In the past I've used momax (shop.momax.net) and liked it (but it was on non touch devices), but I don't know if they are available on ebay.
sgp make great screen protectors but theirs do not cover all of the phone and leave a gap from the bezel to the screen you can try other companys such as clearivue or skinomi

Guess there are many on ebay, and I guess momax have one too.
i`m just curious, what for do you need screen protector? i didnt use none since ive bought NS and there is not even one scratch.
This won't really help your budget, But here's my 2 cents
I just bought a zagg invisible shield screen protector the other day. I got the full body, back and screen protector. I have yet to apply the back cover, but im actually very impressed with the product so far. I got it at best buy, and paid 5$ for the girl there to apply it.
I treat my phone well but damn I have to buy a screen protector now because my screen somehow feels grainy as hell almost like my fingerprints actually scratched the screen really annoying this phone is quite new as well I ordered the clarvious one or however its spelled hopefully fixes this problem
Do you know ZAGG invisible shield? I think it is one of the best screen protector for our nexus s
U can tried idefence screen protector. Since it cover all your phone body to ensure maximum protection. It also much cheaper than zagg..

I got a matte screen protector free with a case I bought. I have never liked screen protectors before because of the air bubbles being such and issue and the extra glare on the screen. When I got my Nexus S I really wanted to protect it so I put the matte screen protector on it and it fit really well. I think it makes the screen oddly blurry at some angles but for me I really like the matte effect and prefer it to glossy screen protectors I tried on other phones and the matte is easier to read in the sunlight over the glossy ones..

I had ZAGG invisible shield on mine since I bought it (about a year ago) and it worked like a charm. However, I took it off about a week ago because of a post I saw about how it makes the screen less vibrant. Having the invisible shield on it really reduced how clear and vibrant the screen was. Now that i took it off, it looks like a totally new phone
Look at what the mailman brought to me today. I may have waited for some time to get this but it's still worth it for only USD7. It's now installed and ready for use again. I can finally let go of my capdase case and screen protector. A good alternative to Zagg. I got one before for my I9003 but it totally sucked! This one's way better.

I use Realook on my vibrant and love it..
However, the review on Amazon about Realook on NS is not that good..
So I am wondering which one I should use..
PS. I want clear one, but not the ZAGG orange peel feelings...
I've been using Best Skins Ever for awhile for most of my stuff and it does the job, but if you have the money, Skinomi is a very nice product.
Just received my S7 Edge today, I've actually bought the Tech21 case for it.
However with the lack of decent screen protectors at the minute is there not a case which takes care of this for you?
I've had a look around and found an X-Doria Defense 360 Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Case – Clear , anybody managed to get one or something similar which isn't too bulky?
Thanks
As i thought the Tech21 Evo Frame case edges must be fairly sharp and I can't get the screen protector to stay down especially up near the top. I've tried both the InvisibleShield Original and the Ultimate Shield one (I am in the UK). Has anybody got one to work with this case?
If not has any got any recommendations for cases with a built in screen protector as mentioned above?
Thanks

IQ Shield makes a case-friendly screen protectors for the phone. I am currently using it with my Tech21 Frame and have zero issues.

Thanks that looks like it might do the trick. Not sure you can get them in the UK, does anyone know something similar or where I could buy one?

Right now they are one of the few that actually makes case-friendly screen protectors. They do ship internationally though.
What is the difference between the case friendly and a regular screen protector? They have a few different option on amazon, but don't explain the difference.
By the looks of the post above compared to what I have got it seems to be cut out more at the top and the bottom corners compared to trying to cover the whole screen. The weakest places with my cover on are up near the very top and bottom so this should help it from not lifting when you put the case on but still cover most of the screen.
Both Skinomi and ArmorSuit make "case-friendly" screen protectors for the GS7E.
I've found one...

Just picked one up from Best Buy, case is fine but built-in screen protector is making it difficult for the phone to register touches, I might have to switch it to glove mode or something I might just have to pull the screen protector off

Here is a "waterproof" full case with built in screen protector I stumbled upon while searching. It's pre-order. I went ahead and got one to test, will let you know how I like it, but I like the way it looks in the pictures.

Tried it at best buy. I have a film on so it had that slick oil thing going. But protects well. So not sure if the screen protector hindered full screen functionality.

it does look cool but its pre order so it not even available
i just bought this one http://tinyurl.com/gkqlckx hope its good as most s7 edge glass protectors are bad even the name brand ones ...
Just received the Ghostek Atomic 2.0 Case. Even though Screen is not glass does not feel that back. No stickiness like plastic films. But for now just had it on for some hours so can't really say for long run yet.
It is a bit wider like a little over 1/4" more than the UAG case. Which adds to black borders on the front as seen on the pictures. So if you already had trouble using it with one hand, this would cause a bit more trouble.
The thickness is about the same as the UAG case when both are facing screen down.
This case advertises Waterproof but has 2 openings for the speaker grill on top and the home button on bottom. I would expect water could get in through those openings. Screen is dot matrix.
The look of the case for me is nice and does not make it look ugly in my perspective. As because the screen guard as they call it make it look like the screen is showing more than some cases that adds front black plastic borders on top and bottom.
The one thing is you might want to use wireless charging more due to having to open up ports more often if using a usb charger.
Here are some pictures I took. Sorry about quality. The best Camera I have is the GS7 edge. lol.

Right now I'm using it with the TANAAB Screen protector.
I'll post more about it. But first reactions seems to be a good case but would depend on how you would see it and if the 1/4" width bigger than a UAG case would be a drawback or not.
It Seems that Ghostek send several out to Mobilefun or Uviyo in batches but haven't shipped through their main site.
Update:
Update about the openings mentioned above. The waterproof works and does not get inside case if there's nothing that raises the area where the openings are. I had the TANAAB TGSP that doesn't go full length of the phone let water in but when removed and tested no water went in. So waiting to test it with a similar TGSP like GPEL2 that fully extends the the phone and see how that works.
When With TANAAB. Sensitivity didn't change and could provide good protection if needed as the outside screen is just a thin plastic film.
Just wanted to point this out.

I just swapped out my Note 7 for the s7 edge and purchased the Defender and has crazy problems with the screen registering the touches. I then removed the screen protector now the phone is loose in the case and the bottoms don't align anymore. So I did the OtterBox warranty and when that case comes in I'll get a refund from Sprint for the Defender and go with a different case. Did you remove the screen protector and have the same button issues? Also like the screen was pushing the phone down in the case which aligned the buttons. Really sucks it just doesn't work without the thick crappy built in screen protector.
