I'm using rom manager and I like more the clockwork recovery image than amon ra's, especially cause I can rename the nanroid backups(with amon ra' s recovery image I didn't find a working way to do it)
The problem is that this recovery isn't permanend and only works from rom manager. And it's in flashable zip format and not img.
So, I searched to find an img format to flash it permanent.
And I found it in wildfire' s forum. I've flashed and works.
Here is the link:
It's good. I'll take this

I hope that you can help me,
Could you please share the Wildfire's amonra recovery?
I really need it! Thanks!
No use asking for the recovery. Nowadays, you cannot flash a Tattoo ROM using wildfire recovery, it will give error due to non-matching system.

It says that i need to update a script or something and something about android 1.5. I'm currently on the cm 7 nightly #21. I've tried various sense roms like fresh rom 2.4, espresso hero, etc. If i go to rom manager, it says the clockworkmod recovery is 2.5.0.7 even though it says 3.0.0.5 if i go to recovery. Don't really know what to do so if you know what to do, please reply.

Those ROMs must be using amend scripts and the latest recovery uses edify. There are a few things you could do:
1. Flash an older recovery - CWM 2x or RA 1.x and then flash the ROM
2. Update the scripts to edify and then flash the ROM

I'm getting errors trying to flash every version besides 2.5.1. How do i kill 3.0.0.5 and replace it? Its weird since on rom manager, it says I'm on 2.5.0.7 but when i actually go to recovery, its says its 3.0.0.5.
I don't have any problems flashing sense . Id try uninstalling and installing again from market not through TB.

In Rom Manager scroll down to the bottom and select flash alternate recovery then scroll to the top and select flash Clockwork Mod recovery. Should be good to go after that

Use method 2 from the ROMRepo. The only difference is is that if you have the latest ROM Manager, the folder that has the newest recovery image will be mirror.kanged.net. That's how I'm able to flash the different images. Edit the recoveries in that folder.
It wont allow me to post the link so just grab it from the OP of the aospCMod ROM.

I don't like flashing Sense roms from CW and my phone doesn't either. Usually what I'll do is since I'm on CW 3.0.1.9 I just make a backup of what I want to keep on my PC, wipe everything including the /recovery option and flash RA's recovery. For ME, it seems to work better these days. Many months ago when my Hero was still fresh I could flash everything. At least it overclocks to 807 without an issue.
Oh btw, if you run a google for "RA recovery heroc" you'll find it. Info on flashing a recovery is everywhere within XDA, after a while you just remember these things
Hey Guys,
This may be a stupid question but here goes... Hopefully it doesn't upset a MOD
I manually installed CWM on my Incredible S, later I got ROM manager. When I start rom manager it tells me that I don't have CWM installed, but I have 4EXTRecovery v2.1.0 RC1. Is there something I'm missing and... what would happen if I loaded ROM Manager and click the install Clockwork Mod button?? I'm a little nervous about trying it and any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
All CWM does is put an update.zip file in your SD card. When you reboot into recovery through rom manager it flashes the update.zip and you use clockwork mod recovery. When you reboot into recovery again you will be back at 4EXTRecovery.

Awesome thanks. I'll give it a shot, as long as it doesn't mess up my 4EXTRecovery it shouldn't be a big issue, thanks for the help!!!

download that file and place it on your SD card.
Reboot into recovery and install the ZIP file from your SD card.
Enjoy
Thx a lot ! Awesome !

Just noticed I think ROM manager actually permenantly replaces 4ext recovery. You can always reinstall 4ext with a .zip file though.
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using XDA App
I noticed that as well and I reinstalled 4EXT after. Not a big deal, thanks again for the help.
if you have EXT4 installed and IMO it's by far the best recovery available for us then once in rom manager use the manual flash over ride option rather than installing CWM

Instead of spamming the CWM 3 thread I figured I'd open up a new one. What I'm doing here is rebuilding the ClockworkMOD updates pushed over ROM Manager into fastboot flashable recovery.img files. These are for S-OFF users ONLY. If you're S-ON check ROM Manager for a compatible version.
CWM 5.0.0.1: http://www.mediafire.com/file/h1mdlrftfi4dd4k/CWR-5.0.0.1.img
CWM 5.0.1.0: http://www.mediafire.com/file/hcfwppybycqcbl0/CWM-5.0.1.0.img

Works for me! Awesome, thanks!
Hi guys,
What's new with cwm5?
Is it possible to flash radio zip like cwm2 and cwm3 zip like ogo rom.
It's faster, blue and has a new format for backups. Any zip that didn't work with CWM 3 won't work here either.

What version of CWM were the backups made with? And what error does it give when it fails?
CWM 4.0. It always gets stuck on HTC boot screen when trying to restore.
does this one fix the wipe issue?

It would be easier to just re flash Amon Ra recovery and restore it isning that, then flash twrp and make a new back up...
For a flashable zip...off the top of my head you would have to mount the IMG on Linux and take out everything...maybe magic iso on windows would work? Once you get everything out just download a ROM and replace everything with the files you extracted...system goes in the system folder and data in the data folder... idk if it will work or not though

Hey guys, I was wondering if I can just simply install TWRP over CWM using the tool kit provided by mskip or I'll brick my phone if I do that? Thanks and sorry for my poor english lol
I installed twrp provided by maclaw team over cwm simply by flashing twrp zip in cwm (like you would flash new rom, or gapps) and rebooted recovery. Nothing bricked and had no problems.

I read somewhere, that unfortunately no. However, if something goes really wrong, you still can flash cwm back and then restore. (and if you can't then perhaps flash it through odin?)
Oh well, thanks a lot anyway

when twpr install, reboot and then do a back up with twpr, it is clear that CWM will recognize you as you create a folder TWPR.
I'm now with TWPR

Stop giving people bad information... Of course you can if you have the updater script written to write raw image to your recovery partition.

So, does it work like that, that I can simply open cwm backup file in twrp? Or is this script written by something external? Because that's what OP was asking for I guess.
I wrote this because I read it somewhere in development thread of CM 10.2, if it's false, then I'm guilty of spreading misinformation

No you can't restore a cwm backup in twrp. I thought the OP asked if it's ok to flash twrp recovery while in cwm, to change the recovery. That works fine
Hi guys, I read all the threads about replacing the CWM with the TWRP, everyone seems to agree on the fact that you need to flash the zip file TWRP by entering the CWM, however there is no such thing as a zip file, I checked on the download page
https://dl.twrp.me/golden/
and there are either .tar files or .img files.
Can I just flash the .tar TWRP file using ODIN ?
Does it overwrite the existing CWM ?

eventually I just flashed the CWM using ODIN and everything worked fine, then I realized that I had flashed the official CWM and not the novafusion version, so I again flashed it using ODIN and everything works fine. Now In only have to flash the ROM.
