I was successfully running my I9000 with
Android: 2.2
Rom: JPM with Doc_Kaplpik_JP6_V6
Clockwork Recovery: recovery-clockwork-2.5.1.2-galaxys
Lagfix: NO-RFS advanced EXT4
Tweaks: none
Then yesterday I decided to boot into Clockwork Recovery and enable all the tweaks. When it rebooted I got the following error:
Something went very wrong while mounting /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 /res/odata /dev/block/loop1 /data/1831634944 rfs
mount: mounting /dev/block/loop1 on /data failed: Invalid argument
(This may not be exactly the error I got - I don't remember)
So I tried restoring a Clockwork Recovery backup but I got the same error. Then I tried restoring an even older backup and now I get to the Galaxy S animated logo then the screen goes black and the phone vibrates (once - pause - three times - long pause then repeat)
I disabled the lagfixes+tweaks and cleared the Dalvik cache.
I can still boot into Clockwork Recovery and Download mode.
So my question is - what should I do?
Do I need to flash using Odin? If so what PIT, PDA, PHONE, CSC and what options do I need to tick?
Think Odin is the only solution!
Go back to your Original Firmware with Odin,SAMFIRMWARE is your Friend.
Thanks for the reply sndytime.
I flashed
PDA: CODE_I9000XWJM8.tar.md5
MODEM: MODEM_I9000XXJM4.tar.md5
CSC: CSC_I9000OPSJG1.tar.md5
With repartition and my phone just booted up. It's got me a little paranoid about tinkering with my phone now though.

Have you tried to reflash your Galaxy with Odin?
Downloads:
Odin
JM5 Firmware PASS: samsung-firmwares.com
PIT 512
Howto:
1.Open ODIN. (And close Kies, if you have it open. It is important to have ODIN open BEFORE connection the phone via USB!)
2.Select the PDA/Modem/CSC/.PIT files in Odin. (PDA=CODE, .PIT and PDA are required. CSC and Modem are HIGHLY recommended. They may be necessary depending on the PDA! Try flashing all three BEFORE reporting bugs, if you only used one initially!)
3.Remove the SD card and SIM card from the phone.
4.Turn the phone into the download mode by pressing and holding VolumeDown+Home+Power.
5.Connect your phone with your computer and wait until the drivers are installed.
6.If the drivers are installed, click Start.
7.The phone will be flashed and once it’s finished, it will boot up. (Do NOT disconnect the usb-cable, remove the battery or otherwise interrupt this process!)
8.You have successfully flashed your phone.

Your SGS is not broken you are just doing things without the right knowlegde.
Don't do things you don't understand !!!
Read before you do something !!!
Yes i have flashed mtimes with odin and successfully but this time its differrent i can't flash any rom and i keep having that error above
Welll it worked when i changed the .pit file which came with Odin to your .pit file and mine was 513 yours 512...but at the end when it booted there was one red line about some sytem ... it went fast so i could'nt read it but anyway thnx alot
You always have to use the correct PIT File for a Firmware.
Look at this:

Please read the FAQ Thread. ;-)

I need to flash my captivate to the stock rom, and I've followed the steps for Odin One-Click downloader (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989) ; however, odin doesn't show anything? All of the little bars are blank. My "download mode" looks like this;
Code:
Android System Recovery <2e>
Samsung Recovery Utils
- for BML -
VOL UP - up
VOL DOWN - down
POWER - select item
reboot system now
reinstall all packages
delete all user data
delete cache data

I did a a google images search, and what I have doesn't look like download mode. What do I do now?
EDIT 3: Tried redoing the whole process again while having odin running first, working now. Possible to have this thread deleted?
EDIT 2: Download mode is still on, Odin told me that it failed the install, now phone is stuck in download mode and i'm scared to do anything to it :x Help?
EDIT: Tried the 3rd method, worked like a charm, now says

**I've searched, asked, tried many different files--still boot loops**
tl;dr What files do I use in Odin to return to stock from a phone that boot loops? (i have no idea what software was on there before it started)
The phone came from Canada (Bell). Previous owner tried to unlock it for use in the US. Phone worked for a few days then turned off & wouldn't get past boot (it would show animation & sound then go into a black screen with menu/back key lit up). It was also missing volume up/down keys. Phone was given to me as I was moving back to Canada. Now here I am in Canada...
I've ordered & replaced the volume keys, got into download mode, and using Odin I've flashed "I9000XXJVU_I9000OXAJVU_OXA". I've no idea what software version was on the phone at the time. I used pit 512. The phone reboots and...

The failed actions are due to me not having an SD card correct? And at the bottom there it says it applied the CSC-code 'KOR' for Korea? I'm in Canada.
Now the phone goes into a loop, flashing the "Galaxy S GT-I9000 Samsung" logo on and off for ever (no animation or sound this time). I also tried flashing the latest from sammobile (under GT-I9000M). It's a single file and that put me in a boot loop as well.
Any advice greatly appreciated!!!

[HOWTO] Flashing CWRecovery to i9000m & upgrade to ICS AOSP 4.x ROM from any version
Hello!
This post might be a bit lengthy as I try to explain in detail what happened. Sorry for that!
I already read the posts suggested upon entering the title on this one, but I could not find a solution for my problem....
Three days ago, my P1000 (non-rooted, GB via Kies) froze. I turned it off (by pressing Power for a few seconds).
I turned it on again. It booted, but reached only the Samsung logo and would stay there forever.
I turned it off again, removed the external SD and did the factory reset (via Power+VolUp).
It did the reset, but the problem of the glowing logo remains.
I started to google a lot, and got acquainted with Odin, (Stock)ROMs, tar files, PIT files, etc.
but I could only gain a vague idea of all these things as I lack a deeper background knowledge.
So I downloaded several (Stock ) ROMS and PIT Files and tried to flash them on the P1000 using Odin.
The last combination was GB-Stock-Safe-v5.tar together with gt-p1000_mr.pit, recommended as being a good way to "re-stock" the P1000, which I tried to flash with Odin (repartition checked, since having a PIT file). It almost worked but movinand.mst failed. So I removed it from the tar file and tried again.
This time the hidden.rfs failed. So I removed it as well from the tar file. Then the flashing succeeded (but without the movinand.mst and the hidden.rfs)
And the problem remains.
When going into Android recovery mode <3e>, it says:
Finding update package...

csc : deleting /system/csc
csc : done

Successfully applied multi-CSC.
Maybe I have now what is called a "soft-bricked" P1000? My P1000 can only go into recovery mode and into download mode (and into "glowing logo" mode).
I would be grateful for any help so that I can bring the P1000 back to normal life...
Thanks in advance.

Would be great if you tried to explain what you tried to do with odin anyway.
what rom you tried to install?

Who says?
Which Rom are you trying to use and what are you coming from?
If flashing ODIN for JVU Rom :
Use ODIN with PIT File
PIT File Incase you need it : LINK
Open Odin and select 512 .PIT, and put in your files for : CSC, PDA, MODEM.
Check Re-partition and don't touch any other settings.
Turn off your phone and put it in download mode by holding VOL DOWN+MENU+POWER.
Attach Phone
When you have all the files needed in ODIN, say JVU Rom for example as thats what we are using here
Click Start let it Run
Once complete you will see S logo on phone
Unplug Phone > Let it power up then Power Off > Again into Download mode
Then plug in Phone
Click Reset on ODIN then in PDA put in CF-Root Kernel File for JVU to be Rooted *File is included in ODIN Files*
Same again when you see S Logo on Phone unplug Phone Cable
Close ODIN
Let phone boot up ....
What I do now is go into
Settings > SD Card and Storage > Unmount SD and Wipe that and then at the bottom Wipe Format USB Storage
Before doing this make sure you have what you need from the phone as it will ERASE everything!
Enable USB Debugging by going to Settings > Applications > Development > Check USB Debugging
Plug in Phone and copy over your chosen Custom ROM that you want
Reboot into Recovery : VOL UP + MENU + POWER
Wipe the 4 things (probably know these... you should do)
If not you choose these by using the left side keys on the phone and to apply changes click Menu key
WIPE : data/factory reset > cache partition
Scroll down and go to advanced
Dalvik Cache > Battery stats
Go Back
Install ZIP (ROM) from Zip Card
Reboot Phone when complete... DONE!
Hope this helps a lot of people if not just ask here if you are still having issues to save peole posting same questions again and again
I made up the first part, but after the phone went into recovery mode
The screen shows the following:

Flash dbdata.rfs as PDA in Odin 1.85. Reboot. Congratulate yourself.

Helpppp
I have exactly the same problem. I had froyo 2.2 im new to this odin all these settings. Yesterday i was tried rooting my phone and I did. but after I mounted a courrupted rom from the recovery. and my android doesn't want to load. I followed the same instructions you just gave him. on these posts but now when i turn on the phone its the logo comes and nothing loads. Only Downloading VOL DWN + MENU + PW is working.
Are you talking to me devildrake? No, your problem is different and you need to flash the rom again too, not just dbdata lol. Do this.
Flash Gingerbread, in Odin (I always used JW4 but JVU will be fine) with 512 pit file and repartition checked. Untick reboot. Once its finished, unplug the USB cable and take the battery out. Put the battery back in and boot into download mode. Reset Odin. USB cable back in. Tick reboot again. Put dbdata.rfs in PDA. Flash.
Should boot into gingerbread. I've done this a LOT of times... Then you can go back to Odin and root.
If that doesn't work then I'd download a different version of GB, download new 512 pit, and download a new dbdata.rfs. Must be one of those corrupt.
